I have decided that more journalling might help me keep my butt on track. I get gold stars for going to the gym again, last night. DH is still not coming with - but he has promised to make an attempt this weekend. Seeing me go without him is guilting him out a bit. This weekend promises to be a busy one. Scarborough Faire starts on Saturday and I am all excited about it. It would be nicer if the weather was a tad warmer - but hey - it will still be fun. NSV - I now fit into the bodices that they sell at Scarborough Faire... and I plan to buy one! While I made a chemise and skirt for Halloween, (Gypsy costume) I never have gotten around to making myself the bodice I need for the faire, so I think I may just buy the first one and maybe use it as a model for any future attempts. DH's costume is still just a spark in my sewing machine. We have had other things to do... So, for this first trip out, we are going in street clothes. Maybe I will find a shirt for him when we go. Heck - maybe I will visit the Queen's Corsetier this year, too. They have big-girl sizes... and I am so happy to be getting back to the point where at least I can shop at more than one store! :biggrin1: This weekend, we also need to get a freezer so we can empty the one in the fridge without destroying all our food. Although, it is good that we have been digging around in there - cause we had some great stuff buried! Having an extra freezer will be great. We also have to do a bunch of shopping for basic staples. We are out of flavored water and other stuff - so a trip to Sam's is in order. I am thinking we will have to shop on Saturday and Scarborough on Sunday. Since Sunday is Easter, most stores will actually be closed, I think. Plus, the sky is supposed to open up tomorrow - and DH really doesn't need to be hanging out in the rain after his recent illness. Well, let's see. I need to give myself a pep talk for the weekend. 1) exercise - see yesterday's journal entry. You LIKE this stuff. Go to the gym. 2) food - no pouch packing! You have formal permission to eat one good thing each day - but NO pouch packing, no matter how great it is. If nothing else, I will get some exercise walking at the stores. Yeah! So, I am off! My office has *cough* generously allowed us to take a half day off - if we use vacation time. I guess I can't complain. They are paying me to surf LBT these days.... TGIF

Hello All, Hope all is well with all of you. Having a hard time getting back to reality after an amazing 7 days in Florida. I estimate I walked about 27 miles in those 7 days according to my IPhone App which probably is not that reliable. Weather was OK considering what it was like in NH but I had high hopes of 80's. I got that my first day and it was down hill from there. Dropped into the 40's at night. Disney and Universal was fantastic. I cannot get over the detail of the Harry Potter stuff at Universal. You literally feel like you walked into the movie. I sent this Magic Kingdom picture to my Sister in MA on Saturday. It was in the 80's and sun shining. MA was getting an ice storm as Arlene mentioned. LOL My Sister informed me that "I suck and she was jealous" This pic of me on the Plane waiting to depart NH. NSV....no seat belt extender and plenty of room!! My Buddy Eric photo-bombing me in the background. Kelli and I standing in front of Hogwarts Express at Universal What remains of the JAWS ride at Universal. They tore it down to make way for Harry Potter. Huge fan of JAWS and the ride was cheesy but still I was sad to see it gone. Last but not least Kelli and I at Disney's Hollywood Studios Osbourne Festival of Lights show

I may be the only one on this post that is excited for the change in Temp now that Fall is finally here. Fall means being able to go out side for me. that the temps are finally low enough to get out and enjoy. mind you it's still in the 80/90 temp range but i'll take it over 115 or higher. :-) so i had a NSV today.. i finally decided i needed a belt for my jeans so i went to grab one of the one's i've been saving from that time before...not a one fit me.. i was really confused i was like how can that be.. than it finally dawned on me they don't fit because they are too big. LMAO.. what a nice surprise. will have to pop a few extra holes in a few so i can still make use of some of them.

Out With the Old--In With the New!

Happy Saturday everyone! I have an NSV to report! Thanks to the long-suffering Mr. F, we went thrifting today. It was senior day at Goodwill! Woooohooooo! Anyone over 55 gets 30% off! So I finally found some stuff!!!! Yippee! Thah crahps ah sayuved!!!! And low and behold size 18s were already loose enough on me, that I said to myself, "Self, you will spend $3-5 on these pants and get to wear them exactly 3-4 weeks before they are "pants on the ground" like the rest of your sad-monkey pants in the closet!" Sooooo I braved the 16's!!! Ha! And guess the fu*k what???? They fit! Whahhhhhh? For $25 bucks today, I got 3 pair of pants, a shirt, and a black thin cardigan to throw on at restaurants or in movies when I get chilly (which is always). It will fit me in about 10 lbs. 1 pair size 16 black pants - Jones of New York 1 pair size 16 black and white tiny print pull on cotton capris (can't remember brand, but think it's a good one) 1 pair size 16 denim jeggings by Lane Bryant's slutty sister, Ashley Stuart 1 gap batiste cotton pin tucked shirt with these cute little beads around the neckline 1 thin acrylic black cardigan. Ha!!!! OMG. I swear, I'm still way big, but I'm wearing a size 16. I completely breezed past the 18s in my magic pants! *snort* Now I can safely relinquish the big clothes in my closet at the clothing swap at the support group at the first of June! Bahahahaahaha! So dang cool. I don't even care if the jeggings make my ass look big! -
My NSV today is wearing a new company polo shirt and jeans for casual Friday. Size L. When I was hired, the largest shirt they had (2x) didn't fit and I didn't own a pair of jeans. I love casual Friday now.

Sounds like everyone is doing well as usual! Erica, that's a bummer that somebody blabbed at work... I haven't told anyone except a relative at my workplace either, but I have a feeling some may know because no one ever asks me about my current eating habits and they always used to on every diet (many!) that I've been on. That's one of the reasons I didn't tell people, because I can't stand it when people ask for updates (how much have you lost? How much do plan to lose? Etc). It could be that they are just not that interested anymore, but either way, I've decided that I won't make it an issue anymore. Glad you're taking the "super-model" approach! Kymie, thanks for the info link ... And Amica, for the recipe. Crissylu and JustDoIt, you guys are my role models and so inspirational! Nicole, congrats to you on some revved up positive attitude, you'll do great, and Meredith, great NSV. Last time I posted I was having irritation when I swallowed food. I guess I was overreacting, because it went away after a couple of days eating soft foods and has been OK since. I went for my fill on Wednesday and even though I've only lost 4 pounds in the 2 months since my last fill, the doc gave me a .2 cc fill and said I was doing quite well, slow and steady. He asked how long did I feel "something" after the last fill and I told him for about a month and he said I was probably getting very close to where I needed to be, and that very small amounts make a big difference at this stage. Anyway, I totally forgot to ask how much I have in my band at this point!! I think it's like 3.5 or something. My goal to the end of the month is to crank up the water, get in more exercise, eat only "healthy" choices as well as small portions, and to rev up this weight loss! Cheers to all of you, love reading your posts.

Justdoit- I am here too! I read everyday on my email. Congrats everyone for all the SV and NSV. I have the best news so far in my lapband life, I have broken through my plateau and I have now lost 50lbs, I am so happy!!! I had plateaued for 3-4 weeks and I was getting so frustrated. I decided two weeks ago to increase my exercise but continued to eat the same amount of calories (around 900) and lost nothing last week. So even more frustrated, I did some research and decided my metabolism maybe had stalled. I decided I would try a few high calorie days (1500-2000) and I initially had a few pound gain, but when I started to have my low calorie days again the weight started to melt off. I have lost 5 lbs in in 4 days! I now plan on eating a day or two of high calories every week and to keep my metabolism up. I hope this trend continues

While my wife & I were getting ready for work this morning, I double checked the weather. Looked like it was going to be a chilly day here in Ohio. I grabbed one of my new-to-me fleece sweaters that I picked up at the local thrift store. My wife grabbed one as well and to her dismay she discovered she could not wear it because it was too small for her. The days of my wife stealing my clothes are finally at an end!

Another NSV for me today! My "new" old bathing suit was falling off me last night at the pool, so I had to get one that wouldn't be x-rated for tonight's swim time. Went into the shop and the salesgirl (who happens to be a cousin) kept saying that the ones I was looking at were too big. To humor her, I picked up the size I thought I wanted and the size she thought would fit. She was right! I'm now, officially, in a 16, not a 16w, etc, but an honest to goodness 16! I am so excited. I was 23 the last time I could wear this size!!!

NSV shout outs

This is the first time I have an NSV to report. I when on a business trip this week , flew to Mn. by plane, asked as I was broarding the plane for a seat belt extender as I usually have, Sat down in my seat decided to try the seat belt without the extender just to see if it would fit and low and behold it not only fit but I was able to cinch it tighter by 2-3 inched. On the trip home I got daring and tried to put the tray table down (I always try without being able to use it) and it went down flat and I didn't have to force it. I haven't been able to do eithere for more years than I can remember, next time maybe I can get the armrest down to. Brenda -
A truly meaningful NSV for me: apart from all of the appearance-based motivations as I've lost weight, I had fitness goals. They included being able to do one perfect push-up, one classic pull-up, and being able to run 1 mile comfortably. After a year and a half I have now achieved the mile, and it feels awesome!

My best NSV so far is my SIL telling me I looked good. In a text but none the less... We have always had a little battle with our weights. When she was skinny I was fat, vice versa. She is not a her thinest but a nice size. I just wish we could get back to the best friends we used to be. But her sending me the text really brightened my day yesterday!

I gotta tell ya....... it's been a while since I've had a NSV, or I have taken them for grated. I'm 1 year and 4 months out, so they have not come as quickly as they did in the beginning. But I had a few happen this week...... 1- I went to go pay my lawn person, and I saw his wife... and she just kept going on how "good I looked" and asked what size I was. well....... the last pair of pants I bought were a 14 ... She said OMG..... no way... I figured you to be a 7 You are SKINNNY...... tall and skinny!! (That was great and I thanked her for the compliment) and of course she threw in there that I didn't need to lose any more weight. 2- My boss asked me how much I weighed before surgery... another guy was in there and said...... you don;t ever ask a woman her weight or age!! lol But I answered him......my highest weight was 374 (Shocking for me to even tell him to be honest with you all ) I asked him...... before I tell you what I weigh now..how much do you think I weigh? His answer was............................135!!! I told him I loveed him!!! LOL I weigh 173......... he said you sure don't look like you weigh that much at all! 3- Now one I can "measure" I went shopping yesterday...... spur of the moment type of shopping... but I wantd a new pair of Jeans..... and............ I am in a 12-but could fit a size 10!!! LEVI's!!!!! I bought the 12... but after wearing them they are too big......... I should have gotten the 10!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I haven't been in a 10............ ever in my adult life!!! A FRIGGEN SIZE 10!!!!!!!!!!! woooooo hooooooo!!WOOT WOOT!!!! MAJOR victory for me! < Happy dance> Yeaaaaaah for MEEEEEEEE!!

my thighs have stopped spilling out of my office chair & car seat i'm no longer shopping in the plus size section i bought a mini skirt for the first time in my life and it actually covered everything! this one i guess is scale related but i still think it's a NSV: i weigh less than my boyfriend, who's pretty thin and only an inch taller than me and then also partner related, he's started pulling me completely on top of him to cuddle and he seems totally fine even if i'm not holding myself up at all which is pretty cool still makes me really nervous though lol

I'm So Depressed! Weight Loss is So Slow!
auntjanny replied to sukik's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am 11 weeks post op and have not lost any weight in three weeks. However body weight is shifting and people are noticing. I joined a "remedial" Zumba class and have been on treadmill the last week and a half.. It is getting easier. I have been eating some crap and realizing it ... A NSV for sure... Throwing out bad/unhealthy food more often. Making better choices... That is what this stall is doing to me... So much better than how I would have dealt with this before. Keep up your good work! -
Goals. Goals not met. Goals can be a real beyotch if you don't have some refinement and structure around them. At least that's the way it is for me. I certainly have an ultimate goal of where I want to be.....but I've set intermittent goals that feel freaking great when achieved. Not all of them are weight goals. Many are NSV's that I get a kick out of reaching. ....A piece of clothing that I want to fit in comfortably. ......An activity that I want to do without difficulty. ......Fitness goals. It is imperative that I have goals beyond the scale. My daily weigh-ins would drive me nuts if they were my only source of validation. One of the ones that I achieved yesterday.....hit me like a hammer and made me grin stupidly......was on the treadmill. Had my first morning off work after a 60 hr pressure cooker workweek. I hit the gym and busted off two hours on the treadmill. Even when I'd find that "right" music and turn up the speed and elevation.....I couldn't seem to get my heart rate up above the high 140's. Crazy. A month ago I couldn't keep it under 160. Soon....soon the knees will be ready to run and it's going to be ON !!!!!!

Checking in on this thread as I had my 6 month post op visit last week. Labs were great even though I'm not consistent with my vitamins. Weight loss is frustratingly slow but steady at 1.3lb/week. For my NSV, I'm in a size 14, a size I haven't worn since 1984! Therapy is a bit of a slow grind and family life is a bit stressful, but so far, I feel really on track. My downsides are 1) Heartburn, 2) Constipation still, and 3) Hunger has come back some. It takes a long time for the hunger.. many hours, but I didn't miss between meal hunger. I included my 6 month before and after. Anyone else want to share?

A hot firefighter? Wow that's the best NSV yet! Is it time for a new pic? -
I'm a little behind, forgive me! 14. Biggest NSV So Far - there are so many, but I think being able to go to my hour-long exercise classes and stay through the entire class without stopping halfway through and going home has been huge for me. 15. #TransformationTuesday photo below! 16. January Goals halfway: I've been walking every day on my lunch breaks and drinking at least 50 oz of water a day. I have gone over my calories twice but other than that, I've stayed on track. My only issue is that as I've started doing strength training again, I've gotten hungrier. 17. Today's meals in photos - will post pics later, I didn't meal prep today!

Happy to hear that everything is going well. I have been burping up a storm. I had heard that it is harder to burp after the sleeve, but it sure does help getting that air out of my chest. I’m ready to move on to purées already, and it’s only been 3 days since surgery. Best of luck to you and I hope you keep improving! Also, congrats on the NSV. That’s great news!!!!

Felt like I had a real NSV this weekend. My size 40 jeans have been way too big on me but have been hesitant to buy new clothes. Mainly because I hate to spend money on something I may only be wearing for a couple of months. Couldn't take it anymore and went shopping this weekend. Grabbed a few pairs of 38s and went off to the changing room. First pair I put on were still way too big. Tried a different pair and same thing. I couldn't believe that 38s were big on me. Went and got some 36s and they fit well. When I started my journey last year (around May 2016) I had gotten up to size 46 again. Still can't get over it.

NSV shout outs

I'm looking forward to crossing my legs comfortably. I can still do it now, but it was definitely easier when I was 165 lbs - and I'm sure it will be even easier when I'm at my goal weight of 145. My NSV today is that in a week, I've lost 2.25 inches off of my waist, 1.5" off of my hips, and 1.75" off of my thighs! -
My NSV weighing less than my husband for the first time in our 37 year marriage! Amazing feeling!

Just when I thought I was failing, I had my 1st nsv. Today was the first time I drove since surgery and when I got into the car I had to move my seat up. ☺ -
So I guess this is a SV and not a NSV, but I made it through the holidays and lost weight! To be honest, I'm shocked because we were in Switzerland and everyone kept feeding us cheese fondue and potatoes! Not to mention lots of sugary goodies....I remember the days before my sleeve and the holidays meant at least a 5 lb gain.....life is good and I love my sleeve! Just wrote my LAST post on my blog A YEAR IN THE LIFE OF A SLEEVER. I posted 24 photos....12 BEFORE and 12 AFTER....all my after photos are the best NSV's ever. HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!
