December 2013 Sleevers Come In!

Feeling better this morning, day three. I hadn't slept for more than a few hours at a time tops while at the hospital. Last night I slept for about 9 hours! I woke up with very little pain, lots of bowel sounds and even a (sorry TMI) first loose BM. I feel a lot better now. I was starting to see that weakness on the horizon from lack of calories so I called the docs office and the nurse was so helpful with instruction updates for me. I asked about getting back on my awesome protein shakes that taste like chocolate milk (Myology Muscle Science Whey Isolate, got it on Puritain Pride B1G1) and she gave me some directions and sent me on my way. Protein shakes, yogurt, and...PUDDING! Having my first shake now, life is good once again...lol. I'm glad my tastes for the shake didn't change. Love it! -

-------As I write this note to you my new belly is in bubble heaven. I also have the runs today (TMI I know). Today is day 4 post op. can't wait to have some puréed hot cereal just not sure what flavorings I'm permitted. Will see my surgeon and NUT on thurs dec 19 if I'm off pain meds by then. Hope the runs isn't worse with purée stage but I'm assuming it will be. Incision pain is tough but nothing compared to the hiatal hernia repair work, I feel it more than anything. May have to extend my leave due to the hernia recovery and not the VSG -- crazy. My surgeon only needed to use 2 medium incisions and 2 tiny ones to get the work done; thank God! See belly Pic below. Already Sick of broth and sugar free jello (yuck)--- only like room temp water and ice chips -- sf Popsicles are ok if I lick very very slowly. Diet green tea room temp is ok and warm ginger tea is tolerable. Not sure how much I weigh now or how much I've lost but my family says they already see a loss in my face 4days out. Guess drinking only liquids for 5 days and fasting completely for 1 day will do that lol Feel Better soon! I pray that our 16-ers are recovering well or waiting patiently. -

Wishing everyone a good night, it's sleeting like crazy here in north texas! The pitter patter is keeping me awake! I'm sorry I haven't been on here as much, but keeping up with the daily emails! Glad to hear most are doing well, praying for those struggling with pain and or roller coaster stomachs. Everyday will get better! Good luck to tomorrow's sleevers! Oh and I too loved the TMI warning, greatness! -
Just a question and sorry if it's been covered before or TMI. I had my surgery Friday. I've been on clear liquids since and I can go to full liquids tomorrow. I've been farting but no bowel movement. I'm pretty sure the farting is just getting the extra gas out and I'm good with farting as opposed to burping. Burping seems to hurt a bit. Since I haven't been eating a whole lot I can't imagine having a bowel movement in the near future, but how long did it take you?

Hey guys I’ve been MIA since surgery had a lot going on with having pain the whole month after surgery to going back to work to not doing so well with protein intake and water intake that led me to the hospital 2 weeks ago for dehydration , gastritis and UTI (I know TMI) but guys I am happy regardless of the circumstances that i made this decisions. Learning day by day how to use my tool. Even though I have gone through some stuff I’m happy I made this decision.

Intermittent Fasting Daily Menu/Results/Accountability
FluffyChix replied to FluffyChix's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Do you cook in a cast iron pan? I'd cook everything in one if I were you! https://www.nomeatathlete.com/iron-for-vegetarians/ https://academic.oup.com/ajcn/article/78/3/633S/4690005 Also, can you tolerate pate? Especially if you use livers from Whole Foods? I have an awesome recipe for green peppercorn pate that makes getting down chicken liver flat dreamy! Also have a great recipe for authentic "chopped livah" that's absolutely divine especially with the Wasa rye crackers!! Let me know if you want those recipes btw. I'm sure you know all about adding enough things with zinc, vit c, and carotenoids also helps iron absorption? ((hugs)) sweetie! Thanks for telling me about the cream of tartar! I think some of the issue (cuz it hasn't been low until now) is that I'm also having some intestinal disturbance along with the whatever is happening in my gut thing...you know? So I'm sure I'm losing some potassium through um, you know...TMI. -

Whew! First I need to return to the fold 😂 but if I want to get in quick I will do a 24 dry fast or 36 hr wet fast, then continue with 20 /18 hr fasts. This is what works for me and (TMI time) I can tell by bathroom responses whether or not I'm there. -
Hey everyone! Hope everyone had a relaxing weekend. I think I am coming out of my funk.. Last week was HELL with my anemia and AF here.. I could not do anything! I even missed work.. that sucked. (3 days.. heavy AF and TIRED TIRED TIRED.. sorry if TMI) Today was the first day in about 4 weeks where I felt like myself. I went out and planted some flowers and trimmed the bushes in the front of my house.. I even started an herb garden! I love fresh ingredient cooking and since surgery have a deeper love for it. I also took the dog to the dog park and went grocery shopping.. trust me, that was more than I have done in a LONG time. I even started some spring cleaning. Now I HAVE to get my sorry butt to the gym. I can hear Edie now.. Do it DonnaMarie!! Hee hee.. I will! Tomorrow I have an appointment with my endocrinologist to see how my Diabetes is doing. He will be very pleased with the weight loss I am sure. Friday brings a trip to my surgeon and I am thinking he is going to give me a fill. I can eat a bit more now and I am stuck but I think that most of that is the being lazy and sluggish and not moving my arse! That is all for now ladies. And I am with ya for the weekly updates.. mine might be daily cuz I feel better when I am "accountable" to someone! LOL Love and hugz! ~DonnaMarie~

Preggy progress/Updates/Tell us how you're doing!
eejaydiva replied to eejaydiva's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
Hi peeps! I'm 38 weeks along and getting pretty ready to be done with this phase. I feel lucky in that I didn't get "sick" of pregnancy until just a few days ago, which seems pretty good, compared to women who just feel awful from 30 weeks and on...I am about 2 cm dilated and 75% effaced, so things down there seem to be getting ready. We went to our weekly exam yesterday and I have been feeling little cramps since then. TMI warning ahead: I have also been passing more mucous the past 3 or 4 days and now it is tinged with brown blood, so it's hard to know if this is my bloody show or mucus plug, or if it's just spotting from the pelvic exam yesterday, as I know that bleeding can happen. Anyhoo, sleeping terribly! Which makes everything else harder too, but the nursery is done, the laundry is caught up, the house is clean, we are pretty much set. My official due date is July 28th, but everyone from the OBGYN to my gal pals seems to think I will go earlier than that. At the latest, the doc will start inducing on August 2nd if I make it that far... Band is tight, I get full easily and have had a few PB and vomiting episodes, praying it gets better after labor! No plans for a fill for several months, even if it slows down my weight loss. I just wanna be a new mommy and breast feed and eat well. How are all of you? -
LoL KARIK!!!! You crack me up! I know what you mean though... I went back to the gym and I can finally see myself as achieving my goal... I don't know about the whole "love" thing but I'm def in LUST! haha I can't believe how much stuff I did last night at the gym- lifting weights squats (great for the inner thigh..haha) and over 150 situps with weighted balls and bars. I spent and hour and a half and I can really see results now... My arms are FIRMING! YESSSSSSS my thighs are tighter! YESSS and yes my O's are better! TRIPLE YES!!! haha ok hope that wasnt tmi either, but it's SO true. Oh when I missed the gym for 3 days, I got depressed... so uh oh... I can proudly say... I'M ADDICTED TO THE GYM! Finally FREAKING time! ooo I can't wait to go back... I'm itching for it! I also can't wait to see Matt again, but I think I'm not seeing him again til Thursday well, at least I won't be distracted away from the gym ! woohoo! GOOD FIND, BETH!!! I know that must have been frustrating... how did it turn out at the doctor's? Oh and Paulax... I'm also at 3ccs in a 4cc and could get some more if a fill didnt cost me 2500!!!!! I'm waiting til I get back to NYC and join NY Pres... Hospitals Lapband Clinic... its $499 to join it and $199 per fill after that... great office care, and if I have any problems, they know my history! HUGS TO MY JULY BANDSTERS... its the last day of our 1 year bandiversary month!!! Oh and this guy I was seeing last year (just a few times) is getting lapband on Aug 6th so wish him luck!

Hi everyone! Chrissy, a rest day is a good thing now and then. And 4 lbs in 2 weeks is great! I had no movement on the scale today, which is a bummer but I'm dealing with it (and not by eating!). I have been on plan, so I know it will come. I'm going to look back on my weight loss I recorded last year and I'm pretty sure I'll see a pattern of the same weight for a couple weeks, then a nice drop. I lost 5 lbs last week, and I know I've been doing the right things. It will come! I just want to be back down to 212 and then less than that, LOL. It takes time, time, time. And I wasted a bunch, but that's water under the bridge. I know next week I will show a loss!! Plus, I think it's ttotm- (warning, tmi alert) I have an IUD so I don't usually get aunt flo, but still have the bloating, cravings, etc, which sucks. But I know it's another reason I'm not showing a loss, and it also sets me up for a bigger loss next week. Well, we're all hanging in, that's the important thing! Nicki

September 2009 Band Date
hmarko replied to ashleysara's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am getting diarrhea on the protein too but sorry for the TMI - its around a two hour period (evening). I usually eat the protein b/t 12 and 8 pm. Drinking water all day. Tried some fiber pills didn't do much. then again the barium swallow also causes diarrhea and i had that yesterday. I start mushies tomorrow and will be doing same as u eggs and tuna, and flaked sole. I may treat myself to soup (but here is where I don't know what the calories are because I'm not making it myself). on second thought I will wait -
So I was sleeved Wednesday. I had a "mass" in my lower right side that was found during all of the sleeve testing and I also had them remove my gall bladder. So my surgery was a bit more complicated and, man oh man, did they ever knock me out. I have 4 laproscopic incisions plus a 5 inch where they had to take the gall bladder out. It was so packed with stones they could not get it out the little holes. I was put under at noon and it was about 11 pm before I knew where I was and who I was. So even as of today I'm a little loopy. Two things I wish I'd have done: Bought an oversized bra. I can't put mine on, too tight and right at the tender area. Since I want to walk outside, it bothers me to just be flopping along. Secondly, I shouldn't have taken 90% of what I took and I didn't take much at all compared to some. I never even hardly opened the bag. Probably a little TMI so if you don't want the gory details, don't read on. Biggest point of the story is that if I had not had terrible post off sickness on Thursday it would not have been a horrible thing. But let me tell you, about the 5th time I had my head over a can (I was dry heaving so hard they got me larger bucket type item so I wouldn't 'spray' -- kind of a power wash type thing. I was starting to wonder if I'd lost my mind in thinking this was a tool to help improve my life. It may surprise you but power dry heaving can shake your resolve. The doc said a lot of it was due to my surgery being much longer than a typical sleeve so don't let it bother you. I think its much easier when just being sleeved. Aside from the nausea issue, my throat was very sore. My voice is still working on coming back. But that, along with the incision pain, are minimal compared to heaving up every drop I was trying to take in. So if the pain of the surgery is holding you back in any way, don't worry about it much. They stopped my pain med Thursday morning and I've taken none since. And each day I can tell it's getting much milder. I also have 2 drains. One small I removed today and one large the doctor will removed next Thursday. So I have cleaned myself, re-bandaged, removed a drain. My next step is to give myself a shot. If I can do that, I'm over the hump and it will just be a matter of healing. I feel like such a big girl! Oh, and he said was liver was great.

September 2009 Band Date
Chickychoo replied to ashleysara's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well, today is the 28th, and at 2pm, I was supposed to be among the "banded". Unfortunately, this didn't happen. I started my liquid diet 10 days ago, 2 fridays ago. On the night before I started my liquid diet, i started having horrible horrible horrible diarrhea. I have gallbladder dumping syndrome, so this really wasn't out of the ordinary. Fast forward to six days later, and I still had the horrible diarrhea. Yes, for 6 days straight. But I thought maybe it was because I had not had any solid foods, maybe I wouldn't have a solid poo(TMI, sorry). I had to work twelve hours Saturday at work(xray tech) and it was soo busy, and while at work I was having left lower abd pain(felt like a gas pocket), horrendous back pain(i have bulging disks) and then I felt like my sugar dropped. Well, we were so busy I didn't get to eat lunch and so I figured that my sugar had dropped so I drank some chocolate milk and felt better. Still had back pain and abd pain. Which i thought could be a ovarian cyst or diverticulitis, but i figured diverticulitis was out of the question because i had been on liquids for so long. So while at work Saturday, i threw up. I went home, ran a fever all night. 6am the next morning i felt better so i went to work. While at work, my pain got worse. By 11am I decided to go to emergency room. One CT scan later, and I have an ovarian cyst and diverticulitis. So i get my antibiotics in the ER and I got admitted. Apparently my Potassium levels were really low because they pumped me full of potassium which hurt my IV site like you would not believe. About midnight i was given 2 of dilaudid(i had only been given one in the ER) and not long after I started vomiting. So then my nurse gave me IV Phenergen. Apparently i am a cheap drunk, because i knocked me so hard on my ass that i quite breathing in my sleep repeatedly. My pulse ox dropped int the 30% range and they had a horrible time getting me to stay awake to breath on my own. I apparently gave them quite a scare. Eventually I was given Narcan to reverse the effects of the narcotics and was doing better, but still by pulse ox levels were dropping into the 60% range. Today, I have been receiving IV antibiotics, and still getting potassium. I am having to stay overnight again, and I have no idea when they will do the surgery. I am so upset, I was so excited to have the surgery and now all this BS happens. :tongue2: I am hoping that maybe tomorrow they will tell me I can still have the surgery this week. I am keeping my fingers crossed!!! I hope the others that were supposed to have their surgery today had a better day than me! -

Ruby - LOVE IT !!!! ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT !!! HAND ON HIPS :Dancing_sorry: OK I WILL drink all my water today - I promise :biggrin2::biggrin2::biggrin2::biggrin2: Cuz I have to have my snacks - last night strawberries - and I am going to jinks this cuz I am talking about it - but my little angel has not woken me at all during the middle of the night to go potty for the last 2 nights that means I have slept 2 nights straight thru - you gotta know even without the dogs I rarely sleep all night - usually up once or twice during the night.. Not always to eat but just wake up. Karri - Yep Ruby put me in my place - but even us Food Cops need some policing too :Dancing_angry: Congrats on the Exercise - You are doing so good. I am proud of you... Your bday is the same day as my Mom's  I am not worried about you being unfilled at all - I have read the PS thread too and heck those women are as dedicated as you and some of that weight gain is from the surgery - water retention swelling - so you can not get on the scale after the TT for 2 weeks .. I gotta say I might splurge before surgery - not so much junk - cuz that goes down OK now - but I would love to eat a big juice bloody steak (I am a cannibal ladies ) I can eat steak but not a lot... So something like that - not the sweets. well maybe a little:redface: the sweets.. -------------------------------------------------------------- Steph That's FANTASTIC !!! That 12 lbs a month - GOOD JOB!!! ------------------------------------------------------------- Peaches You might not really feel the restriction until you get to real food. Hold on - I know it's hard - but we are cheering you on... ----------------------------------------------------------- Jackie - GF what's up ??? ----------------------------------------------------------- I made this great dinner last night - a new one pot wonder ground white turkey meat (about 8 oz) onion - bell pepper- 1/2 c corn - 1/4 c rice - 1 can of tomato bisque soup. it makes enough for 3 or 4 nights - I had one full cup - guesstimate the calories to be about 210 - 250 max - It was really good. -------------------------------------------------------------- Well, I am drinking my water - and will report in when I have this 16.9 ozs done - I have to drink 4 of them for 67.60 oz of water - I think I need it cuz I have been having tmi stopped up issues  Ok off to work (well I am at work) but you know what I mean TTYL
-
I'm here - but so far it's only been you and me today.. How's the TMI situation??? - Phyl doesn't have connection - Kari in FL - don't know where Ruby is - and our gf Jackie might still be suffering from her hangover:lol: Steph hasn't ck'd in today either... Are you going to the gym - since you got to work so early??? I am going I haven't been since last Wed - but cleaned house of Friday - Saturday shoe shopping and walking at the fair - Sunday more shopping - you know trying on clothes is classified as exercise - especially when you take 10 thing in at a time if not more

Okay ladies! I have finally caught up. I didn't want to post until then. So many many things to say. My vacation was wonderful. Too much fried food, too many drinks. Gained almost 3 pounds. Today I worked very hard at only putting protein in my body. Did a pretty decent job. Total cals, 1100, protein 90 g. Fiber was almost non existent. I'm pretty sure that tomorrow will be a bad poo day. I know...tmi I was busy today and didn't have a chance to do ANYTHING physical. Tomorrow I will be doing 2 walks. One in the morning and one in the evening. Back to the work of getting ready for this walk. I'm very excited to say that I'll be spending the weekend with Karla out on the lake. I'm so excited. We will have a great chance to get on the same page. We will be able to get some great hiking in. Maybe even some kayaking. I picked up the EA active while I was gone, but I have not had a chance to try it. Tomorrow hopefully. Okay. I'm off. I have to serve lunch at church tomorrow. Was supposed to be my MIL, SIL, and myself, but both of them have had issues so that they will not be helping me. I'm a little freaked out but Rose will be helping me. Keep me in your thoughts. I'll talk to you all tomorrow. Hopefully with really good news on my food and exercise. Have a great night ladies.
