  1. Ok now I’ve been eating yogurts constantly like about 3 or 4 a day and small pieces of baked chicken, is that bad? It’s like I get hungry every couple hours and I know it’s not real hunger so I try to ignore it and drink water.

    What can possibly go wrong?

I'm sorry to hear of all these troubles! You ought to make sure that there are no strictures presently. Then evaluate how you feel when eating each food "group". Dairy. Great protein. Slides right down. Eggs. Beans. Protein, can be in chili or soup, thinned refried. Fairly high in calories. Nuts and cheese. Protein, high calories. Oatmeal. Easy, can add in a ton of stuff. Potatoes/sweet potatoes.. they actually are a powerhouse.. calories and nutrients. Hopefully you can eat some of these foods. Try to make a list of things that go down easily but that also contain protein and nutrients. That list can help keep you from dumping, and might help get your nutrition up. I am only 8 months postop, but don't eat meat with other foods. Meat is a meal by itself, and that is ok! The idea that you can only eat, what, an ounce? That's the problem. How much yogurt or cottage cheese can you eat?
  3. My surgery is 11/29. My preop diet started 11/15. This is been so difficult. The first day i cheated big time. The quilt set in and I’ve been doing good ever sense. I’m allowed oatmeal or grits, broth, protein shakes, water, pop cycles, fat free pudding, and yogurt. I upped my water intake and found that i am less hungry when i do that. I want to crunch something so bad.

Yes me too. Did Dr Bass do your surgery? You were probally in the same hospital as me! I have a temp of 99 and feel weird when I eat but I am able to drink two bottles too, and had 2 oz of yogurt today!! Woohoo lol. Take a deep breath! You will do fine.
  5. You won't lose on carbs at 1400 calories and low bmi. How many grams of protein are you getting a day? You should be getting it all from food, with the occasional shake if you are away from home or running behind. Yogurts, cottage cheese, but you won't feel restriction with these and will need to weigh/measure and stick to that instead of the 'full feeling'. Why can't you eat meat - fish, chicken, etc? My NUT says during this losing phase it is very hard to meet goals with vegetarian eating and that you can incorporate it closer to goal. If you are vegetarian - didn't your NUT give you guidelines? The body uses carbs first because it is easy fuel and won't burn fat if you keep feeding it carbs. How many grams of carbs are you consuming in a day? List your food intake for a day. You say you record your food are you using a free app like Baritastic or myfitnesspal? You should see all your macros - this surgery is about protein goals, then veg - you mentioned NONE.
  6. Hey all! I just got sleeved on the 15th. Came home on the 16th and today I'm allowed protein shakes, yogurt and cream soups. So my question is this...How do I get into a routine? Can some of you tell me how you did it? I want to just measure my food intake and do it that way. I cant tell when I'm full yet and dont want to over eat like I did yesterday. Please any advise will be great!!

    When does your energy return?

I got my energy back within a week or two. Within a week and a half I was walking a few miles a day. It gets easier once you switch to more significant liquids or foods like Greek yogurt + protein powder. At 5 weeks I was 80% better and started hard workouts. But, everyone is different. Stay hydrated and eat your protein. Add some healthy fats if you can. 3 months out my snacks are 170 calorie NSA stevia blackberry coconut fat bombs.

ok hello! Just had my sleeve monday. I feel great! first 2 days were rough but uphill after that. IM not being super vigilant about meausring my intake however, I feel like im drinking too much!! How is that even possible? im drinking about 2-3 oz of someting every hour. I allowed yogurt, sf pudding, broth, protien shakes, things like that. Thoughts?
  9. I was a month out of surgery yesterday. I am eating protein oatmeal in the AM - can usually eat about 1/2. I do refried beans with a little cheese and sour cream for lunch (about 1 1/2 ounces) can do a while Greek yogurt for a snack and then dinner is usually soup of some sort. I drink the premier protein water instead of the shakes. (Can't stomach them at all). I can eat scrambled eggs, boiled egg and that little triangle cheese. Also have he success with tuna (with a little mayo and relish). I can't stand canned chicken and wasn't able to tolerate a little crab salad but managed to eat a soft crab cake (or about 1/4 of it). I was talking to my NUT and she said she isn't a fan of the soft cheese at only a month out. Not sure I understand that one.

    Non refrigerated snacks

I agree with almonds. Pistachios are amazing! I relied on Atkins protein bars when I went to a conference. Could you bring a lunch bag with a frozen thing to keep eggs or yogurt cold?
  11. Feeling much better, been eating baked chicken or yogurt and water. I’m gonna say it’s normal to have one of those days when u wanna cheat, This is new to me but I’ll make it through. I feel like I’m getting head hunger a lot so I usually just drink water or finish my work. Is it normal to no feel restriction tho, I usually stop myself so I don’t feel uncomfortable.

My personal VSG journey take 2

#1 Take an antacid if you already havent been, #2 call your doctor to see what he recommends cause it should be getting easier not harder. I will confess by week 3 I was thoroughly sick of crystal light and the sweet protein drinks. Try switching flavors or brands perhaps. Also try adding some salty foods/liquids like Tomato soups it might help break up the bleh feeling from the fake sweet. Once you get to eating somewhat normal foods it will be easier, but you really have to focus on the water and protein goals right now.. And dont eat Jello, it has ZERO nutritional value...Try Greek yogurt or Icelandic yougurt, I like a brand called "Siggis"... Add flavor to your water, Crystal light or Try tea...Whatever it takes to get the liquids, you dont want to wind up on an IV in the ER for dehydration.. But call your Dr for some real advice first.
  13. Hello, I've never actually posted on here before this is my first post, and I'm coming here because I'm scared I'm eating or consuming too much. I haven't gained any weight or anything, so really I have no reason to be concerned but I guess it's just some late night anxiety? So a little about me: I'm 14 months post-op. I was 336 pounds when I started the surgery journey, 302 pounds on the day of surgery, I blew past my surgeons goal of about 220LB's, my own goal of 199LB's, and currently weigh 156 LB's. I'm 24 a 5ft 9inch male. What I currently eat and have been eating like on a typical day I'd say for about the last 6 months usually looks something like this: Breakfast: 2 scrambled eggs with cheddar cheese and 3 frozen sausage links About 2 and a half hours later: A Fruit (usually a banana, grapes, or an orange.) About 2 Hours after that: Ham and cheese or turkey and cheese wrap on a whole wheat wrap About 2 Hours Later: Strawberry Greek Yogurt About 3 Hours later: About half a bowl or I guess maybe a small bowl of Chicken Stir Fry (Usually has Chicken, Corn, Greenbeans, Broccoli, and Pea's in it) About 2 Hours after that usually another Fruit (again a banana, grapes, or orange usually whatever I didn't have earlier that day.) In between that I'm usually drinking water and 1 cup of 1% milk a day. Obviously this isn't what I eat EVERY day but I'd say it's pretty typical. Something similar or along these lines, I don't always eat the same amount. Some days I might only have 1 snack, some days I might not have any. I'm just worried about consuming a lot of food. I know my appetite has increased the last few months and my doctor said it would I just want to make sure it's increased to a normal amount. So does this seem to be about what you guys can eat a year out or later or does it seem like a lot.

You know I had that...really really bad pain in between my breasts. THAT'S where your new stomache is. We always think it's like below our ribs. I figured out that mine will what I call seize up if I am super hungry. Terrible awful pain. So that's why sometimes I make a yogurt with protein powder in it (like PB protein powder) and thin it with a little water. Just to put something THICKER than LIQUID in it. That seems to do the trick. Like I wake up every morning with that pain cuz I'm starving. I can't wait for puree foods!!! Good luck but just be careful in case it's not your new tummy.
  15. Hi , I feel like I'm doing it all wrong. Mine was done at a surgery center, sent home in a couple hours and was told i can do the funnel diet for the first two weeks. So Ive had a little scrambled eggs greek yogurt broth. Not quite sure how much of those things I'm able to have (serving size) I'm very confused..

OK I had a bit of a setback. I am lactose intolerant. Been for years. I tried many products before surgery and they sat ok with me. Typically Whey Isolate is ok VS the other whey. Greek yogurt typically doesn't bother me but non-greek does. Well....I had pure diarrhea early this morning for at least 3 hours non stop. I KNOW I cannot afford to lose liquid like that. I'll get dehydrated. I have not yet managed to get to 64 oz or more a day. I thought I would be able to no problem but I cannot yet. SO....I decided to go back to liquids for today and kinda reset my gut. I asked my nurse if I could become MORE lactose intolerant and she said absolutely. So no dairy, whey, yogurt or even lactose free milk for me today. I'm FREAKIN STARVING. At least I'm getting my liquids in! I am BEYOND ready to move to puree stage. I can't until after Nov 29th meeting with surgeon. At least then I can get in chicken and fish for protein and not rely so much on dairy products. This NOTHING but some form of dairy for almost a week was my downfall today. I will try at least ONE meal with protein drink tomorrow see how I feel. I'm terrified of losing what little hair I have left so I need that protein. As far as incisions, nothing has ever pained or hurt me. I walked my dogs daily. Yesterday I did 3 miles. Slower than normal but 3. Today I did a shorter one because (a) I'm back working and (b) I almost felt like I had low blood sugar from not eating. Nov 29th...HURRY!!
  17. Better late than never, I use Genepro daily as a supplement to protein I take in via food. It is approved by my nutritionist, however I do not count it as 30 grams of protein, i count it as 15. I mix it in with my morning hot tea, greek yogurt, diet grape crandberry juice and pb2. I am 4 months out, down 68 pounds and all of my lab work has come back perfect. For me personally, it truly is the best supplement.
  18. @up4challenge "do or do not, there is no try" - Yoda glad you will push the fluids. food suggestions? you MUST have protein. ie eggs, yogurt, cottage cheese, other cheese too. protein bars are quick energy too (QNC - 20 gr. protein) fish, chicken - meat in general have plenty of protein, almonds (nuts) plenty of foods mentioned by OP here. also recipes to follow. sending good vibrations your way. eating and drinking to your health. kathy

My incision pain is at a 2½ now compared to the 6 it was in the hospital. I too am moving around more. Just last night I started rolling over in bed. Can't stay in that position for very long but it's something. I am getting my fluids in I have an app I put in how much I've been drinking and it's been keeping "score" for me. I'm managing almost 50 oz a day of water give or take. I'm also having popsicles and protein drinks as well as yogurt and jello. I can't believe Thanksgiving is next week. I don't want to think about cooking. I'm still a bit too tired for that activity. These healing naps are for the birds and I miss out on all the good stuff. Anyone else napping?

    OCTOBER SLEEVERS CHECK IN HERE

I eat two egg whites, fried in Pam, with no fat cheese at breakfast. I always eat 3oz of whatever meat at the other two meals rounded out with 1-2 oz of (green beans, roasted squash). I have three snacks each day out of: triple zero yogurt, two lifts cheese sticks or a shake made of 4 strawberries, 1/2 cup blueberries, 6 oz water and a scoop of protein powder. I’m at ~ 1,000 cals a day, but I workout quite a bit.

    OCTOBER SLEEVERS CHECK IN HERE

Was sleeved 10/30 and started the Soft and Moist foods this week and so much happier. I'm done with jello, Kool aid, popsicle and on to food. Went through our Kaiser handouts and The Idiots Guide, Everything your need to know about WLS, Bariatrtic Cookbook and one other and wrote down ALL of the ingredients needed for this stage. Sent my husband out to get everything and now have a good idea of what I want to eat for the three meals a day. I'm on this stage for four weeks, and needed something other than eggs. I had banana/yogurt smoothie today and it was OH.MY.GOD.GOOD. I don't think I couldl've been on the liquid diet longer than the week I was on it.
