    Fruit?

Thank you, Berry! I was doing yogurt but can no longer take the taste of artificial sweeteners even Stevia. I liked cottage cheese as a kid. Maybe I can tolerate it now. You’re right. I need to keep experimenting. If you think of anything else, I welcome your ideas and tips.

    Fruit?

Kirsten.. sounds like you are right on track. It appears you are eating about 2oz of protein food at a time which is what I was doing at your stage. I just ate really frequently to meet my goals. Every 2-3 hours. If you don't like cottage cheese, then do something else. This whole adventure is much more fun if you like your food. Greek yogurt has the same protein as cottage cheese. (Too sour for me now but I ate it early on). Protein kefir was do-able early for me too. If you prefer chicken and other meat, that's fine too. Your job right now is experimenting to find your personal system/rhythm.

    Protein

I’m allowed to have low sugar low fat yogurt on mine as well so I’ve stocked up on Greek yogurt. There are lots of great choices for yogurt if you are allowed to have that.
  4. I work outdoors and I have a small cooler. I put an ice pack in it with my 32oz water bottle, two muscle light shakes, 2 yogurts (oikos triple), string cheese, canned salmon/tuna fish and edamame beans. These items are light and you can eat them throughout the day on the go.
  5. Get a day pack and fill it with some cheese and turkey sticks, maybe yogurt, protein bars and water.

What Post-Sleeve Rules Do You Break?

@Berry78 Your daughter sounds stressed out, if she comes home and daily eats that something besides true hunger is driving that. She is making food a 'friend' . You don't make rules, but as an adult you can control what food comes in the house, gradually stop buying mac n cheese - maybe put out a bowl of fruit, have yogurts w cereal sprinkled on top? Just suggestions.

    December Sleevers??

Starting my liver-shrinking diet today. My meals consist of: breakfast-protein drink, lunch-greek yogurt, supper- 3oz of meat, 2-3 servings of veggies, and 2 servings of starchy vegetables. I have sugar-free gum, sugar-free popsicles, and sugar-free jello to eat for free. I also take benefiber with my meals to keep me full. I will do this for two weeks before my surgery on December 5, 2017. I have my pre-admission appointment on the 28th of November. Ugh, it's the real thing now...

    Protein

My surgeon told me to keep my protein between 70 and 80 grams a day. He did tell me that more than that would slow weight loss. I followed his recommendation and had great results. I never had more than 2 shakes a day in the early weeks, and it took me all day to get them down. When I was able I added one more thing a day, either a yogurt or an egg. I was at least 2 months out before I could consume more than that daily. Sent from my Nexus 6P using BariatricPal mobile app

    Post-op Protein bars?

Another great protein source that is easy to take with you and/or store in a drawer at the office are the Starkist foil pack tunas. There are various flavors. Good protein for low calories. Also, Lite & Fit Greek yogurt is a good low cal protein source.
  10. The one thing that's always fascinating to me is how MUCH other people can eat and how little we actually NEED to live on. I mean, I used to eat those massive portions, too! Now it almost makes me sick to watch. I maintain on 1200 calories at almost 4 years post op. I eat mostly meat, fish, nuts, fruits and veggies. Yup, that's 80% of my diet. I choose to eat that way because one: I feel great when I limit sugar and simple carbs And two: I maintain my weight fairly easily sticking to that stuff without having to track, weigh and measure everything because I HATE to! Oh, the other 20% of what I eat? Yogurt, cheese, whole grains and chocolate. Oh, and coffee. Lots and lots of coffee. I eat like someone who is mostly health conscious who hasn't had surgery. Except I can only eat around 10 oz of food in a single meal, maybe less.
  11. Hey there Same-Day Sleevie (11/8)!!!!!! I've planned a little something with just my mom, dad, and I (family is on the otherside of the country or out of the country). Here's what's on the menu (for me): Mashed Potatoes (not chunky for me) Cranberry Sauce Peas (mashed) Ground Turkey with Stuffing (cooked soft - might not eat it) Baked Cauliflower Mac & Cheese (won't eat that day; will freeze for next week) Ricotta Bake Granted, I'm not going to eat that all at one time (will be spaced out for Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner that day, along with one Premier Protein blended with Plain Greek Yogurt for extra protein -- to drink at two separate times) We're lucky we're in the stage of pureed/soft foods around this time lol. My doc and nutritionist is fine with it, as long as I get my exercise in every day lol.
  12. Sorry, if it's any consolation I haven't really even eaten any Had cream of wheat once pudding four times and yogurt four times, and that's in two weeks. I've been obsessed with hydration... Almost at 64oz of pure water I am beginning to notice that plans vary greatly however in my plan during stage 1 full liquids I a MN allowed to have SF jello SF pudding low fat yogurt and thinned cream of wheat in addition to the liquids. What does everyone else's stage one look like?

I’ve regained ALL the weight back 😢♀️

I'm sorry you are feeling out of control with your weight. Set up an appointment with your surgeons office. Get their opinion if you have stretched your stomach. They can help you get back on track. Another option to consider is counseling/therapy. It will help address your mindset with weight loss. Food choices and grazing will cause significant weight gain. Grazing is the consistent, day-long consumption of low value food items, in other words: snacking. For example, mindlessly finishing your child’s breakfast cereal, stopping at mcdonalds, popping two donut holes into your mouth at the office, eating a protein bar mid-afternoon and a strawberry Greek yogurt with granola at night. The best way to address grazing after bariatric surgery is to employ preventive measures prior to the onset. That said, many patients will not succeed preemptively and must therefore deal with the problem of grazing only after it presents. Should you find yourself in the habit of grazing after bariatric surgery, the obvious resolution is to break the habit. This is no doubt easier said than done, but consider all that you have achieved to this point. The first step is to ask for help. It is unlikely that you can resolve your maladaptive eating alone. So simply ask for the help. Use your support network and those professionals who are currently among your inner circle. Begin to monitor yourself closely. Write down or log your food in MYFITNESSPAL all that you eat or drink for a period of three days or so, and then compare your notes with the nutrition plan from your bariatric surgeon’s office to note how much they do or do not correlate. Learn the different types of hunger, specifically head, eating out of boredom and physical hunger. In addition, cut out all junk food. Sit when you eat, and mindfully enjoy the meal. Eat meals that contain protein and fiber in the form of fresh and lightly cooked or raw fruits and vegetables because they make you feel full. Drink plenty of water over the course of the day except at meal time. WIshing you the best, Jenn

    Struggling with fatigue and lethargy

I can have yogurt in my second stage?? It's not on my approved list from my surgeon.
  18. Your fatigue is very normal. You had major surgery! Be kind to yourself and you’ll start feeling stronger. You can have yogurt. Greek yogurt (watch the sugar content) is your best friend right now because of its protein. Good luck!

    any November 2017 sleevers?

I am right there with you. I also had my surgery on Friday morning. I will be going home tomorrow & cant wait to sleep in my own bed. Pain has been minimal, controlled with Tylenol. I have been able to get my fluids in - broth, popsicles, water, Gatorade, diluted juice, etc... I can start adding in protein shakes, yogurt and milk starting Tuesday, hopefully that will help with lack of energy. I will be going back to work on the 27th. Hoping everyone else is healing well, and good luck to upcoming surgeries!!
  20. I can do this too!

    Just being goofy

I always thought the size of those cups of yogurt were sort of a joke! Who could ever just eat one and be full. Now I know, sometimes I can’t even a full cup of yogurt!

    Just being goofy

I realize now why the people in the yogurt, ice cream & hamburger commercials eat the food slowly. They must be on the liquid diet and that bite is literally all they are allowed to have [emoji23] I know when I get my 1 Greek yogurt per day I eat it slowly and savor every bite too Hahaha!

    November sleevers here

No I had my surgery in Brandon hospital with Dr Chavda. I'm going to try yogurt and pudding today! I'm glad you're doing well.

    Too much?!?

I don't know what your specific plan calls for, so you should refer to your NUT on whether it is okay to be eating meat at this point. As far as having 4 servings of yogurt per day goes, it really depends on type of yogurt and the amount that you are consuming. I would try to eat the lowest sugar greek yogurt that you could find. I don't tend to eat it at all, because even the lowest sugar yogurt I can find has too much for my taste.

Pre op Liquid diet SOOOO hard

Dinner time was the hardest for me too. I usually tried to save my 1 Greek yogurt per day for that time so I could feel like I was eating or I ate a sugar free popsicle. I also tried to go for a walk or find something to do so I wasn't watching my family eat. Good luck it is worth it in the end, but this is just the beginning
