Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual & Transgendered Bandsters

I'm a Bandster!! :biggrin2: Surgery was 3 hours, w/ hernia repair. The first night was in the hospital, and at home I slept nonstop for the next three days. Thanks to the Percocet. The pain feels like puncture wounds. I mean surface pain, nothing real deep. I did have the GAS, enough to clear a room . I know TMI, but so far I've only had some left shoulder discomfort. The clear liquids made me very weak. Lack of sugar, according to the surgeon. Once I had my first protein shake on day 7, I started feeling better. When did you all start mushies? According to my doctor, he wants me on protein shakes until my first fill, June 30th. I know I need to heal, but 5 weeks? Doesn't that seem excessive? If I count the two weeks prior to surgery, that's 7 weeks of liquids! I'm already dreaming of scrambled eggs and runny oatmeal!! :wink2:

Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual & Transgendered Bandsters

Happy Monday, everyone! I hope you all had a great weekend. We got back from Gay Days at Disney World late yesterday afternoon. We didn't get to see the ocean of red shirts as we went to Animal Kingdom on Saturday instead of the Magic Kingdom. But we still had a good time. I did go back to the RV a few hours before Sean and the kids because I was totally pooped. Speaking of poop (nice segue, huh?), has anyone else had a problem with constipation? At the risk of sharing TMI, I'll just say that I had a very difficult time going to the bathroom on Saturday. That's extremely unusual for me. The only thing I can think of is that I had been eating a lot of cheese (well, a lot proportionate to everything else I was eating) and not drinking enough water. Anyhoo, it's back to the grind today. Glad to have you aboard Dawn! You've found a great group of folks here, both in this thread and the forum in general.

    December 2013 Sleevers Come In!

Wishing everyone a good night, it's sleeting like crazy here in north texas! The pitter patter is keeping me awake! I'm sorry I haven't been on here as much, but keeping up with the daily emails! Glad to hear most are doing well, praying for those struggling with pain and or roller coaster stomachs. Everyday will get better! Good luck to tomorrow's sleevers! Oh and I too loved the TMI warning, greatness!

    January 2012 Sleevers!

Just a question and sorry if it's been covered before or TMI. I had my surgery Friday. I've been on clear liquids since and I can go to full liquids tomorrow. I've been farting but no bowel movement. I'm pretty sure the farting is just getting the extra gas out and I'm good with farting as opposed to burping. Burping seems to hurt a bit. Since I haven't been eating a whole lot I can't imagine having a bowel movement in the near future, but how long did it take you?
  6. I guess I carry it well but that's the battle carrying it trying to pick things up @ work I stand for a least 7 hours out of the 8 1/2 hours if not all . Its hard on me not to mention the boobies they are probably 10 pounds a piece lol sorry if TMI

    November sleevers here

Hey guys I’ve been MIA since surgery had a lot going on with having pain the whole month after surgery to going back to work to not doing so well with protein intake and water intake that led me to the hospital 2 weeks ago for dehydration , gastritis and UTI (I know TMI) but guys I am happy regardless of the circumstances that i made this decisions. Learning day by day how to use my tool. Even though I have gone through some stuff I’m happy I made this decision.
  8. NewMe3

    Pooping all the time now!

This is me too. My bowel motions are now several times a day and quite loose (sorry if tmi 😂) and kind of comes out of nowhere lol. I’m 9 weeks post op.
  9. So I was sleeved Wednesday. I had a "mass" in my lower right side that was found during all of the sleeve testing and I also had them remove my gall bladder. So my surgery was a bit more complicated and, man oh man, did they ever knock me out. I have 4 laproscopic incisions plus a 5 inch where they had to take the gall bladder out. It was so packed with stones they could not get it out the little holes. I was put under at noon and it was about 11 pm before I knew where I was and who I was. So even as of today I'm a little loopy. Two things I wish I'd have done: Bought an oversized bra. I can't put mine on, too tight and right at the tender area. Since I want to walk outside, it bothers me to just be flopping along. Secondly, I shouldn't have taken 90% of what I took and I didn't take much at all compared to some. I never even hardly opened the bag. Probably a little TMI so if you don't want the gory details, don't read on. Biggest point of the story is that if I had not had terrible post off sickness on Thursday it would not have been a horrible thing. But let me tell you, about the 5th time I had my head over a can (I was dry heaving so hard they got me larger bucket type item so I wouldn't 'spray' -- kind of a power wash type thing. I was starting to wonder if I'd lost my mind in thinking this was a tool to help improve my life. It may surprise you but power dry heaving can shake your resolve. The doc said a lot of it was due to my surgery being much longer than a typical sleeve so don't let it bother you. I think its much easier when just being sleeved. Aside from the nausea issue, my throat was very sore. My voice is still working on coming back. But that, along with the incision pain, are minimal compared to heaving up every drop I was trying to take in. So if the pain of the surgery is holding you back in any way, don't worry about it much. They stopped my pain med Thursday morning and I've taken none since. And each day I can tell it's getting much milder. I also have 2 drains. One small I removed today and one large the doctor will removed next Thursday. So I have cleaned myself, re-bandaged, removed a drain. My next step is to give myself a shot. If I can do that, I'm over the hump and it will just be a matter of healing. I feel like such a big girl! Oh, and he said was liver was great.
  10. I definitely think moving around has helped. I have to drink slowly as well. Except now everything is going right through me (tmi I know). Hope you are doing well

    Horrible Constipation

Sorry to hear you are having issues with constipation. i too had it pretty bad and remember those days well. I ended up using an enema for relief. The secret to the enema is to (TMI) try and wait to use the bathroom for a few minutes after you have finished the enema. Miralax did nothing for me and since I can't swallow pills the stool softeners were out. I just made sure to use benefiber every day. You will soon learn how much fiber you need to take in to stay regular and once you start to add more fruit and veggies in your diet it will get much better. Hope this helps.
  12. Hi everyone- Would love to say my mood has totally turned around, but I hate to lie to friends! I am better, just kinda enjoying my grouch I think!!! I have done the old turn it on, and turn it off thing today, so I guess it isn't too bad. Went to Red Lobster for lunch with my folks, and Kinsey, and oh yeah that one guy, the one who kept me awake all night with the friggin TV!!!! Then went to the farm, and picked all afternoon....now have an evening of shelling peas ahead of me, then I am freezing them, so it isn't too bad. Have lots of new potatoes, so going to make some creamed peas and new potatoes tomorrow. Tonight, I am doing easy burritos, nothing much to do, once it is in the pot! Terry---now this may be TMI---but here goes. Back when Ricks heart valve failed, he was having issues with his hands, and feet, and other extremeties (!) not getting proper blood flow...because the heart was not pumping enough oxygenated blood to support his body. Nothing ever quit working, it just did not work at optimum levels!!! Well the heart got fixed, and he is like a 13 year old boy---he thinks he has a new toy!!! The sex is always good, there has never been an issue with that, if the sex had been bad along with the TV---I would not have been grumpy, I'd have been downright bitchy!!!!! LMAO!!! Between his new and improved heart, and my weight loss---we feel like newlyweds again! I was banded in April, they discovered his failed valve less than 3 weeks later. So we "healed" together!! Tracy, the jeans are an awesome accomplishment my friend!!! Remember back just a few short months ago, when I sent you the clothes you though you would never be able to get into? They have all been passed on, all too big! You have done so well!!! You know I don't wanna do this...but I just gotta!!!! TOLD YOU SO!!!!! Gina might have a point if the stomach ache does not go away, or if he gets nauseated, or feverish. Have him lie on the bed, and put his feet on the floor, if he can put them back up on the bed without assistance, it is likely not acute apendicitis---if he can't---have him checked! Back about 6 years ago, on the 3rd of July, Rick got sick, his belly hurt, he tried everything, refused to go to the hospital...until about 1 AM. When we got there, they did all the testing they could, they were running a skeleton crew for the 4th (idiots). They thought it was appendix, but he hurt all across his belly, so they were worried he had a twisted intestine. They finally determined it was appendix between the feet on the floor, and a CT scan. They ask if he wanted it done laproscopically, he said whatever was fastest just get it done! When they got in there his appendix was HUGE. A normal appendix is smaller than your pinkie, and inflamed on about the size of your thumb....Ricks was 9 1/2 inches long!!! They looked it up to see if it was a record, the record was 13 inches. It was a record for our Dr., and this hospital though! He had this hilarious and sexy as hell nurse, named Patrick, and he was so much fun, he made a sign for Rick's hospital room door that said Man with the HUGE appendage...then scratched out appendage and wrote appendix in little letters!!! Rick hated him, because he was always making us laugh---and post op laughing is not fun!!! They said with the size of it, the amount of poison it held could have killed him almost instantly if it had burst! So I am a firm believer in getting it checked out! Better safe than sorry!!! Laura, I am sorry you are still having OOMTOM's---that really sucks!!! Good luck finding someone to talk to. DD is not thrilled with their family therapist. She is unhappy.....hope they get it figured out, same as you! Rick called, and wants me to make reservations to go to Vegas the end of the month for bike fest. We thought he would be working so didn't think we could go, but his coworker needed to trade out a different weekend....so maybe we will!!! WoooHooo!!! Well I need to go stir my thawing green chile, I tell ya I am working hard on this dinner thing!!!! TTYL Kat
  13. LMAO Sara~ That was very funny. Buy batteries at Costco...TMI? I know. I think the weightloss will help w/ both libido and desirability. The largest sex organ we have in between our ears and once we are feeling good about ourselves, we will have a "sexy vibe" which will help w/ our own and our partners wanting, hehehe...this is fun!
  14. Hiya Violets~ Kat~ When are you leaving? I don't know if I remember reading that. Have fun. Too bad you couldn't see Terry and Tracy and Haydee while your there. The fridge is black. The stainless steel is too hard to keep clean. We were looking for a satina finish, but couldn't find it in the french doors. I am so excited about the freezer on the bottom (drawer) and the 2 door top! Finally I can see all the top, instead of having a rotting onion in the bottom drawer that I never see. Terry~ Deep breaths. Do something special w/ you fam later this weekend. Sending your ds all the violet purple power for his SAT's. I had a combined 1290...not great, but hey, I did ok;). I went to happy hour yesterday! I had my 1 shot of Patron tequilla and then water. Had fun, it was great to "unwind". We all had so much fun. I don't usually go to those things because Susanne is just coming into town or I am going there. Sometimes we go together. Including myself, there were 3 teachers in tears yesterday...we needed a drinky-poo:beer:! I am pissed about this and need some advice. I am suffering w/ what I think is a sinus infection. Remember, at the beginning of the month I was sick. Went and got antibiotics and was better in a week (what a shitty week that was, I hate being sick). Anyway, Tuesday morn I woke up w/ some of the same symptoms. As the week has progressed it has become a bit worse. I had a flu shot on Oct 18 (hey, I work w/ kids...I HAVE to get one). So this time my "sickness" has not become the body aches etc...just in my head. My nose, ears and you should hear this sexy voice I am sporting (sound like a 70 yr old man). Anyway...my question to the violets...what should I do? Primary doc? My allergist? Over the counter? I've never had this and never ever had a reoccuring thingy. Do I need antibiotics? I know this is TMI, but yes, it is yellowish. Help! Well, I gotta go clean the fridge quick! They should be here in an hourish. xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo
  15. Do you cook in a cast iron pan? I'd cook everything in one if I were you! https://www.nomeatathlete.com/iron-for-vegetarians/ https://academic.oup.com/ajcn/article/78/3/633S/4690005 Also, can you tolerate pate? Especially if you use livers from Whole Foods? I have an awesome recipe for green peppercorn pate that makes getting down chicken liver flat dreamy! Also have a great recipe for authentic "chopped livah" that's absolutely divine especially with the Wasa rye crackers!! Let me know if you want those recipes btw. I'm sure you know all about adding enough things with zinc, vit c, and carotenoids also helps iron absorption? ((hugs)) sweetie! Thanks for telling me about the cream of tartar! I think some of the issue (cuz it hasn't been low until now) is that I'm also having some intestinal disturbance along with the whatever is happening in my gut thing...you know? So I'm sure I'm losing some potassium through um, you know...TMI.
  16. Whew! First I need to return to the fold 😂 but if I want to get in quick I will do a 24 dry fast or 36 hr wet fast, then continue with 20 /18 hr fasts. This is what works for me and (TMI time) I can tell by bathroom responses whether or not I'm there.
  17. Well, I am 52 hours post op, and am barely coming around. Terri and Tracy thanks for the props...this has been harder than I thought. I think Sara and I posted that "if we would've known how much pain this was, we might've reconsidered!" That was yesterday, today I am glad it is over and I know it is worth it. I am still in a lot of pain. I am jealous of those of you out at Walmart, etc. This was my first surgery ever and I've never had kids, so I am pretty much a baby when it comes to pain. I was fine in the preop room and as soon as they started rolling me, I started balling...I meaning sobbing...just sooooo scared. I remember the nurse saying you just had your first shot that will feel like a cocktail, then the next thing was recovery. I slept most of the first day, was glad I stayed in hospital, but am so glad to be home. I spent last night in the recliner because I didn't want to bother partner getting up and walking, and moaning (did I mention this really hurts). On a side note, I SUGGEST PEOPLE FOLLOW THE HINT ABOUT BUYING THE TOILET TONGS FOR POST OP. I CAN'T REACH! I know, TMI, but liquids in and liquids out, and reaching is important. Actually as the day goes on, I am getting a little better. There is so much more I will post. I am proud of all of us...those who are done and all our April bros/sisters still pending. I can't wait to see what our thread looks like in May or June, when we start posted on our weight loss! peaceout

Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters

Morning gals well, another day. My ear feels a little better, I'm so glad that I took care of that last night, or I would have been in very bad shape. I know tmi, but .... I think i had a sinus infection going on because all kinds of stuff is breaking up an my head feels so much better than it has in days. Bad thing... I don't take antibiotics because I am the one who gets all the side effects, so my stomach is a mess. OK that is an understatement! I've been up since 5 with sharp stomach pains and in the bathroom. I guess for the next few days I shouldn't have to worry about getting my fiber sure in. LOL I'm going to hang close to home until work so I'm sure I'll be checking in. I'm babysitting right now and going to try to sleep for a few when the bus comes. It is so cold here again today but temp went up to +7 Yipee.

Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters

Hi Girls & fellows! I have to tell you what happened to me this weekend. It was NOT good! My husband and I went out to Old Chicago’s for dinner we got some chicken wings and Italian Nachos to split. I got ice water to drink. My husband ordered it from the bar because he was getting a beer.... anyway when they gave us our drinks our table was ready so we sat down. I took a drink of my water and it tasted gross! So I took a bite of a chicken wing to get that taste out of my mouth. Big mistake. I was PBing and sliming so bad that I could not even make it to the bathroom. Lucky me that they had given us a bunch of napkins for the wings -- I was sliming in. I finally got to the bathroom and just stood there for about 15 minutes spitting up like slime (sorry about the TMI). When I made it back to the table it started again. I realized when I sat down it was much worse. My DH can be so insensitive he told me I was grossing him out, by spitting or sort of vomiting into the napkin. I could not even talk to get on to him! :angry Lucky him. Anyway when my tummy finally calmed down I asked DH to taste my water… and he did (ha ha on him that is what he gets!). He said it was definitely the water! We figured that it was never really washed it went through the sanitizer stage, and then she picked it up and added the ice water! Let me tell you, if that is PBing and sliming I hope it never happens again. I think I had it so bad because of the sanitizer mixed with the chicken wing. Imagine not even being able to yell at DH! :waytogo: It turned out ok in the end. We walked a little after we left there, to the movies and I felt a whole lot better. Just a warning...

Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters

Hi everyone. just getting in from work, early night. been catching up. Looks like everyone is having a nice relaxing day Ann - welcome, glad you were finally able to log on Terry - that does not look good. so...... I need some serious help - I know this is going to be TMI but I am actually very worried..... first = thursday night I worked the ovens and I started to get a pain in my port area, like i pulled it a bit. working the ovens involves the actual cooking of pizzas, from a small round to a 24 cut and they are heavy and lots of reaching, lifting and bending. so I was worried but I have been taking it kind of easy to heal and not as much pain... now you all know I have bathroom issues, I'm drinking tea as I type. Well, I have blood in my stool. I don't know if it is because I have not gone to the bathroom in 5 days and this has been a horrible cycle since surgery... or if I could have done some serious damage? What should I do...??? I know the tea might not be the best thing... but it breaks it all up and gets it out and I want to know how serious this is or if it is just from being so clogged up. help...
  23. I'm back! Happy July 4th!!! Hope you are all having a great Independence Day! Sorry I haven't updated whilst I was away - wifi was cr*p at the hotel! I've had a great time in Spain - 5 adults and 44 teenagers on a school trip is defo an experience! We spent 26 hours on the bus there and back and a whole lot more travelling around different locations! I can't believe how much time I have spent on that bloody thing! I didn't manage, as predicted, to do any fast days... and I am pretty sure by the bloated feeling I have that I have gained. I will weigh in the morning. I am prepared to see a higher number! I did manage to keep an 'ok' tab on my food choices, but I have to say that there were treats (the kids were loaded with jelly sweeties and it would be rude to say no!) - also some lunch times bread stuff was the only choice, so I ate it! However, when I did have the choice I stuck to Protein first, some veg and salad too. I would prob say the food I ate was 50% good and 50% not so good! I also had a few glasses of wine each evening - not too many - but more than normal ... as you all know, I don't drink in the house or on a regular basis... I do go out with the girls for a few cheeky ciders and that is once in a while. I did however, throughout the day, drink a lot of Water. I am also severally constipated - if I have no movement by tomorrow evening I will take some laxatives as a last measure... I hate it when I get like this! Sorry for TMI! We also did a lot of walking around - and I have to say that 3 years ago I would of been a bag of sweat - this time, no sweating! That is an awesome NSV, especially in the heat of Barcelona! I am not messing around here - damage limitation is in order so I am back to my fast day tomo even though it is Friday! I might even do Sunday this week too... I'll see how I feel. That is the beauty of this diet plan - I get to chose when I fast. I've got a big few weeks coming up - we have the school prom on Thurs - I won't drink cos I always drive but I know there will be an abundance of rubbish food on offer, so I will have to be super vigilant! I also have a works night out on the next day, that will be a big drinking session with plenty of dancing and giggling! The the following week I have another works night out which will also involve a lot of booze! I am gonna have to be ultra organised because I don't want to gain... but I do want a life! I think I will have to be happy with striking a medium over the next few weeks. Then I will have to be really focused as we go on a family holiday around the 9th August and I don't want to go away with extra weight on me. This time though, I might be able to squeeze in a fast day - or an attempt at fasting; perhaps missing a meal? Oh and as a foot note, it is my third year surg-aversary! How quickly has that gone? I need to find some time to post a little thread to recall my experience to date! Hope all of you are ok... great to see things are going well for you all ...

    JUNE SURGERY BUDDIES

Hello everyone! I am out of surgery and just woke up! I received a mixture of pain medication including fentanyl. I have almost no pain. I am coughing a lot from the tube they inserted. My surgery took 7 hours without prep because they had to do much more than the gastric bypass roux en y. I would say that overall I am ok and that it was more difficult than I initially thought it will be. For those of you still on the liquid diet, please please keep it up. My surgeon said that he could see where the liver was once enlarged, and that he could see the shadow, so that liquid diet I hated so much did something! 😀I did not sleep at all the night before the surgery because of the Miralax. TMI, but going to the bathroom through the whole night and the early morning in the hospital prior to surgery made it horrible. It might not happen to others, but my body reacted that way. Another very important thing, that my husband shared, I was not awaken yet, please tell the nurse to talk to the transport team not to roll you over from the sling they transport you after the surgery into your post op bed. They wanted to do that to me and my husband stopped them. Last but not least and most important of all, I was happy when I opened my eyes! This is the first day of the rest of my life! 😀

We try on occassion but after the head I am involuntarily shoving him off from so much pain.....Never had an orgasim doing it that way though but wish I had.... LOL
