January Newbies ! Progress ?
TxBritt replied to sarahzamudio1091's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It sounds like you might be on a two week stall. I hear over and over how common this is and to not freak out. Just keep following your rules and it'll pick back up!! If you're having trouble with the scale- then you should focuse on some NSV's.. Take your measurments and see where you are!! -
Post Op September Sleevers, Roll Call
Bukki replied to newgrandmother's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Was in a stall for over three weeks....finally broke this weekend and was down 12lbs !!! Went shopping in friends closet and was able to get into a size 18 shirt and pants !!! Yea NSV !! I was thrilled because last June was wearing size 28 pants.....and have pretty much gone thru all the smaller sizes had in my closet. I have been holding out buying any new clothes. I am officially down 130lbs since June 4 at my seminar weigh in, and 83lbs since surgery on Sept 18. Yes I am losing some of my hair too, but I wear mine really short so not real noticeable. -
I'm glad your stall is over!! 60lbs is a great ... and a lot of NSV for you also!! Which is also great!

I've been very frustrated that I could lose 60 pounds and still be wearing all my same clothes. Well I have noticed that my pants are getting a bit baggy, so I got out my few smaller clothes and sure enough I have dropped two sizes comfortably ( 24 to 20), though since I have so many clothes I won't give them all up yet until I can replace them with a few more smaller ones. And the good news is that after no movement for the past month, I finally lost 2 pounds today. Yay. 9 lbs to go to be halfway to my goal. Scale Victory - For the first time in 26 years, I weigh less than my husband. NSV - I can wear my diamond wedding band set again which I haven't been able to put on for a few years without it cutting into my finger and bleeding. Now they slip on and twirl around with great ease. It's amazing how much 2 pounds can lift your lift your spirits when it's going down or crush them when it's going up. I expected the 2 week stall after surgery. I heard a lot about it. I just didn't expect it to last a month. Hopefully I will continue to lose and not have to wait another full month. For now, I"m deliriously happy.

I wanted to share with you guys a discussion I had with my S/O tonight. As some of you may or may not know I've been majoring in psych for a few years now with a concentration in Drug and Alcohol addictions, this I have found is more of just addictions in general then adding the "drug and alcohol" label to it. So here is how the conversation went. I am one lucky person to be able to have food in my house that I know I can't eat. No one else in my household has a weight problem and my son is actually always on the fringe of being underweight. So anyway, last time we went to the store I bought some brownie mix for me to make with my son on a snowy day or something and it sits in the cabinet forgotten by me completely until the day he wants to make some brownies. I had a rough day on Wed. in one of my peer counseling groups where I was listening to a tragic story of something that one of my peers witnessed at her job involving a child. As a mother I was outraged at what I was hearing and had to spend alot of my day controling my emotions and wrapping my head around what I had heard because when you work in the field I do you always question how you can make the world different and better so that some of this nonsense that goes on everyday can stop. I was so wrapped up in my thoughts though that I started to take what this woman said personally and started over doing it and imagining my child being the one who was in danger and had no one to stand up for him....so my S/O works nights and I'm home by myself alot and when my son goes to bed it's just me.... I didn't want to feel the way I was feeling and was getting so wrapped up in it that I took out the brownie mix and I was going to make a whole damn box of brownies because of what I was FEELING. I did not make the box of brownies I am proud to share... but I do want to share that what I was feeling was going to get the best of me and what I tell someone who may have a crack addiction who was going through the feelings of rage and hurt I was is to sit still for a while and FEEL that. It's okay for me to feel that rage and anger and eating a box of brownies would not have changed what I was feeling nor would it had changed what happened to that child I heard was hurt....so to make a long story longer I just think that food can be just like a drug but sometimes we have to walk away (or if you're nutz like me stare at a box of brownies for way too long) and just sit there and feel that for a minute. I got through my emotions that day and I FEEL better for doing it. And the bonus is that on Wed. I didn't have to work through the extra feeling of guilt because I made the right decision and worked through what I was going through. Welcome to the journey you guys! Not everyday is full of weight losses and NSV's! -
NSV: I don't have to shower!
jen1211 replied to keldolbeth's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Congratulations on your loss, you have lost so much! I love seeing fun little nsv's too, they are the reasons we did this. It must have been nice to run into that ex, I can imagine the uh huh I look good feeling! lol Good luck on your continued journey! -
This is beautiful! I think people do treat us differently when we're obese. However, in fairness, I treated myself differently too. The changes and transformation from losing excess weight are almost amazing... sooo many nsv that make us stronger and better. Congratulations Dee! ♥

as much! Calm down, people! I still shower everyday... However, I used to be the person who had to shower before every event, sometimes multiple times a day. I would work a full day (no physical labor involved) but had to fully shower and get ready again before going out that night. I'd plan my day and my social life around when I needed to shower. I never felt "fresh." I sweated all the time. I constantly felt like I smelled. Last night my friend wanted to go out and I contemplated showering... or just washing off in the bath since I can comfortably fit in the tub now... but I realized even though I had showered 12 hours prior I still felt clean, everywhere! Some of this could be due to my new baby powder routine (LOL) but mostly because I'm not constantly sweaty anymore. I feel fresh and clean for 24 hours or more. So I just touched up my make up, straightened my hair a bit, changed and was out the door... saved me probably an hour! All NSV's are awesome but I particularly love the silly ones... so much stuff makes me laugh now about my new body! Oh yeah, last weekend I saw the guy I lost my virginity to in college for the first time in 2 1/2 years... I told him about the surgery and how much I had lost but he hadn't seen any pictures. The first thing he said, with a bewildered look, "man, you do look different as hell!" Of course, I couldn't mention my night without including a picture... I'm wearing an old sweater as a tunic with leggings now! Keep rocking those sleeves!

Lol I just asked about the term NSV on my fitness pal I didn't know what it meant either. Congrats on the pants it is a wonderful feeling when my 24s looked terrible and wouldn't stay up I went shopping too to my amazement I went to a 18 and then a week later I wish I would have tried the 16 so I put on a belt and today when I put them on ...I think I'm ready for a new pair again I def love the NSVs cause the scale hasn't been giving me much love. On another note does anyone know how many mcg of biotin you are supposed to take daily to help with hair loss? -

Okay I had a NSV today. My size 24w jeans are way way too big. So I went to get another pair same brand (gloria Vanderbilt). I took 22's and 20's into dressing room. The 22's fit. The waist was a teeny bit loose. I put the 20's on and they fit like a glove. I was doing the happy dance, I couldn't believe it. What a great feeling. A great ending to an awesome day! I hate going by what others have lost! I feel like I don't add up or maybe I've done more than others. It's a weird feeling. I did have a TOTAL NSV today. I had to go buy a new dress for dinner tonight since all of mine were too big. Well- I bought a new dress and it is a wait for it- size 12! What?! This girl in a 12!!! Woo hoo!
