Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters

Well I am this groups Band Granny....!!!! But here are my stats---- Banded 04/24/06 1.75 cc's in a 10cm band designed to hold up to 4cc.'s (I think is how they told me!!!) I have had 2 fills, have not been adjusted since last July, and still have restriction! I have lost 91.5 pounds. Would do this again in a heartbeat!!! This may fall along the lines of Judy's hooha issue and be TMI----but along with "seeing" it again, other things change as well---and improve A LOT!!!!! Seems as though if you can see it, it works better---imagine that!!! Tomorrow we are having an early dinner with my DIL's grandparents who we have never met, then we will be leaving for Albuquerque to have Ricks heart fixed. Getting nervous. My Mom and Dad are going to come down to be with me. Which is good/bad!!! I am very glad they are going to be there, but them opting to come, puts it to where our kids are not going to be able to. Son is busy with his new inlaws, and was really struggling with his wife, over it, she was livid that he was going to leave, so we convinced him to stay. My SIL to be is in Houston for 2 weeks with work, so my DD is home alone with both kids...so with her daughter she could call on her ex, and let her stay with Daddy, but not the stepdaughter....and if my Mom isn't home, she has noone to leave them with. The other person she has watch them is her sister on her Dads side, and she just got married yesterday and is off honeymooning....so no kids will be there. DH is fine with that, I am too for the most part, I realize it can't be helped. I will be glad to have my parents. I am surprised, but none of DH's family is going---I think it is because they are pissed off at me, but too bad! We will be fine. I would not admit it to him, but I am afraid to go alone. The last ordeal with him, when he had the GI bleed, and the Dr. told me he would likely expire (oh how I hate that word now!!!) in the next 10 minutes----I have no idea what I would have done if I were alone....I am scared to face this alone now. I don't tell him that tho. Anyway---please remember him in your prayers girls---. Well, I am off to take a walk, while it has cooled down. Will check in with you guys later!!! Kat -

Alrighty then. DH gained a pound this week so there must be something in the water. HOWEVER I did have a couple of NSVs today. Last year at Gospel Sunday I was wearing a man's size XXL denim choir shirt. Today I'm wearing a man's L and I'm just shy of being able to button it around my belly. Next year my goal is to be in a woman's Medium! Yesterday I bought new underwear. I asked my DH if he knew what an optimist was. I said.. "it's somebody who buys one package of size 8 and one package of size 7 underwear". This morning I thought I'd just try the size 7 on and IT FIT!! Now the last NSV has a parental warning attached to it. When I stood in front of the full length mirror this morning before stepping into the shower, I saw something I have not seen in years and years. I looked down and saw my hoo haaa!! It's been covered up by a big apron of fat for a long time and today it was just peeking out! Ok, I know that's TMI, but it WAS a NSV for sure!! -
Hey, I thought I was really in pain. The suture spots were a little sore but I really thought I was in pain....it was gas. Somehow I figured out how to relieve some of that pressure (I know, tmi) and now I don't even feel like I had surgery at all, I feel 100%. Once I get this tether ball off that the doctor attached, which by the way was the most annoying part of it all, I'll be great. I had to advise some new freshmen today so it was kind of hard but that was apparently due to the gas. I should be able to work a full day on Monday judging by the way I feel right now. I haven't even been hungry yet and have to remind myself to drink something, so we'll see how this goes. Congrats to the latest bandsters, let us know how you're doing.

You will get there TracyK - fiber sure worked for me, I felt so much better today... I know TMI but what can you do. I hope everyone has a great day, going to get my pool cleaned from all the leaves this am then off to work at the pizza shop... of course it got hot and humid here again today, just in time for me to work in 100 degree place. -

Hey Tracy, Do the prunes ever, um, swing the pendulum too far in the opposite direction? :guess I've had Irritable Bowel/Spastic Colitis all my life and tend to have diarrhea quite often (sorry if that one's TMI), that's why the bout with the constipation was such a surprise. I just don't want to aggravate my IBS any more that it already is. But on the flip side, I will admit that I'd rather have the diarrhea than be constipated like I was on Saturday. That was a very bad experience that I would prefer to never repeat (it involved about 30 minutes on the toilet, a lot of pain and some blood :welldoneclap: - again, sorry if it's TMI). -

[quote name=Speaking of poop (nice segue, huh?), has anyone else had a problem with constipation? At the risk of sharing TMI, I'll just say that I had a very difficult time going to the bathroom on Saturday. That's extremely unusual for me. The only thing I can think of is that I had been eating a lot of cheese (well, a lot proportionate to everything else I was eating) and not drinking enough water. quote] Once a day I eat the Gerbery baby food prunes in the resealable plactic container and I haven't had the issue in the almost 4 months that I've been banded. Happy Monday, everyone! I hope you all had a great weekend. We got back from Gay Days at Disney World late yesterday afternoon. We didn't get to see the ocean of red shirts as we went to Animal Kingdom on Saturday instead of the Magic Kingdom. But we still had a good time. I did go back to the RV a few hours before Sean and the kids because I was totally pooped. Speaking of poop (nice segue, huh?), has anyone else had a problem with constipation? At the risk of sharing TMI, I'll just say that I had a very difficult time going to the bathroom on Saturday. That's extremely unusual for me. The only thing I can think of is that I had been eating a lot of cheese (well, a lot proportionate to everything else I was eating) and not drinking enough water. Anyhoo, it's back to the grind today. Glad to have you aboard Dawn! You've found a great group of folks here, both in this thread and the forum in general. -
I am so glad you asked this question because I was worried about this very same thing. My surgeon gives the choice of port placement...either between the breasts just above the bra line, or directly over the left rib cage just below the bra line. I don't mean to offer TMI, but my DH is a boob man and because of this I think I am going with the "directly over the left rib cage just below the bra line" area...what do ya'll think?

I need an extra day in May to get all my exercise in!!! I guess we can't create that huh? I need to think about my June exercise! Changing the subject to fills, I had a fill Thursday of 3cc's. Everything seemed fine and was so very happy with the restriction, now the past few days I have sort of thrown up, it was probably a pb. Nothing hurt and no sound (tmi), but I did feel a ball in my chest for a while. It seemed to happen a few days after I had my fill, do you think it is probably just a little swelling or do I need to get some taken out? I have an appointment on thursday June 7th, so I do have a little while. Let me know you opinions because everyone always have great suggestions. Jane -
Dang Lauren stay off the herpes. This is what I get for reading somethng that says TMI lol.

You did not want to be me this weekend. I went to bed at midnight on Friday night. At 2 AM, I woke up and had a quarter-sized lump on my hoo-ha. Very painful, but tolerable. As the weekend went on, though, it grew. And grew. And grew. I could barely walk because of the pain and I was taking LOTS of Advil for the pain (didn't do much more than take the edge off of it). Of course, no one was open yesterday because of the holiday, but I was able to make an appointment to see my gynecologist this morning, luckily. She took a look at it and said that it was an ingrown hair, but that the pus-pocket thing was huge, about 2 1/2 inches. So, I got to have my crotch lanced this morning. And let me tell you, that damn lidocaine shot was the most painful thing I have EVER experienced. I am normally have a high tolerance for pain, but I was whimpering like a baby.

hi girlfriends! I've been reading but just no time to respond - or I have someone looking over my shoulder. I have to agree with all of you about one day feeling like you have it together and the next you feel fat again. Somedays I feel like one hot mama and the next I hate my body, I hate my clothes and feel like I'm eating too much. Today is a good day - Hubbster helps, he came home last night, he's been working away, he cuddled up and said let me hold my little skinny woman I've missed her. I'll probably keep him around another 28 years. Believe it or not but sex can still be great after all these years! LOL ok tmi! I am beginning to think I need a fill - I had cancelled my last one because I got sick. I am learning some foods I can't even TRY - rice being number one on the list. Last night I ate steak, I threw up the last couple bites, then I felt fine. So its kinda confusing - do I have enough restriction or not. Unlike you Maurdan, I've had 5 fills already. (btw I don't get notified bc I don't want to, like Nat this is the only thread I follow) Bman - sounds like you've made a new friend, if its meant to be it'll happen, otherwise just enjoy the friendship. My oldest dd is coming home today with her bf, theres trouble in paradise. She said she doesn't think they'll stay together - she just spent the week at his family's home. She said they are too different and will fill me in when she gets here. Sometimes I miss my kids so much my heart hurts. But she'll be here today so I'm happy. Youngest dd and bf will be here and my son and dil are coming over tonight too so I'll have all of them for a few hours, we're going to do a bonfire and mountian pies, smores all the fun stuff. Its been so quiet and weird with dh working away and dd is always busy or with her bf so I'm alone alot, I tend to get excited to have my kids all home. I hope you all have a great weekend, I have a couple picnics to go to. I made potato salad and pasta salad last night, I'm making a crab salad for Sunday and jello cake - too much food! Good thing the band keeps me from overeating!

Good Thursday Morn-- whoops! AFTERNOON, Violets~~ Wow... time flies! Yikes! Where is today going? Teach -- glad to "hear" from you & so glad that dh is doing well. Enjoy Canada! Pam -- Yay, a skinny day! Haven't had one here lately, but I'm hoping I'll know it when it does arrive! Brenners -- wow, what a start to banded life! Glad to see that you're still happy w/your decision & are ok now! Laura -- that cake combo sounds yum! mmmmmmmmmmmmm Househuntress -- What a fantastic idea!! Very creative!! Jennifur & others -- re: constipation issues (which I've been having a bit, too, w/this liquid diet... really, every few days or so I wonder where I got enough "material" to create a poop... all I'm doing is DRINKING! for goodness sake... hmmmmmmm)... I picked up a 6-pack of these teeny tiny cute little cans of prune juice to have on hand if it goes on too long... haven't had to pop one open yet, but it's good to know it's there if I do... (sorry if tmi!) Ok... Day something... I'm losing count!... it's....... (counting on calendar)... 11! ~~ OMG -- so that means only 4 TO GO! When that dawned on me just now I whipped my head around to check the calendar -- ow... I think I got a crick in my neck doing that! 4 MORE DAYS! Aye Yie Yie! Doing well w/liquids now... it's just what I do now. Got my whey Gourment Smooth PB chocolate Protein powder in yesterday... I did not realize that it would be in a gargantuan tub! It barely fits in the cabinet! I also ordered the Cookies 'n Cream (w/out having tried it first, but it sounded good) & had one this a.m.... it's ok... definitely NOT as good as the PBC... but ok... nice change from choc & van plain. Have a busy tomorrow & weekend... I'm the Book Fair Chair @ the kids' ES & have to set up the BOGO Fair tomorrow... then it's game 1 of ds's soccer tourny weekend tomorrow night... whoever scheduled THAT is crazy -- making soccer parents drive on Mem'l Weekend Fri eve??? That's just cruel... Then it's soccer Sat AND Sun... + our annual neighborhood Block Party/BB! on Sun (which my family is one of the 3 "host" families that started this 3 years ago, so we HAVE to be there)... my plan for the BBQ is to make up a couple pitchers of Crystal Light and maybe freeze a couple containers of it so I can have it as a "icee" type thing (digging @ it w/a spoon may entertain me, I hope) + have lots on hand to drink... I figure if I keep mingling all around maybe no one will notice that I'm not actually eating -- they'll all think I ate earlier w/someone else! OH -- AND one of my best friends is moving back to our town (in MD) from St. Louis after 4 years away... they bought a new house in a nearby development & I'm going to go over on Sat morning and put up balloons & sprinkle confetti along the sidewalk & put a sign on the door, etc.... can you tell I'm excited she's coming back?? I guess all that is my way of explaining that I probably won't be on here much 'til Monday... and then that's the day before surgery!!! Calgon, take me away! But I procrastinate... I must go now & CLEAN MY HOUSE... I must! Everyone have a great weekend if I don't get back here 'til Monday!! And if you all are out & about having fun all weekend & don't get back on here 'til Tuesday -- PLEASE KEEP ME IN YOUR THOUGHTS ON TUESDAY MORNING (7:30am surgery time)!!!!!!!!! I need the Purple Power of ALL the Violets in Tights!! Love you guys!!! -

Does anyone have the same problem/issue as me? First, sorry for TMI, but please read and answer if you can help......Since starting all the protein intake, extremely low carbs, low fat, etc etc, I have noticed that BMs are not the normal easy-going thing. It's more like pebbles or clumps, and not every day. I know not every day BMs is normal with our "new" diet, but what about the fact that it's kinda hard, need to strain, and small amount? I thought about maybe trying to get in a lot more fiber but I don't know how to do that or if it would just bind me up more? Or maybe I should just start taking stool softeners? But can you take those forever? Not sure what to do, so I thought I'd turn to my shrinking violet banded friends. Can anyone help? Thanks! Bandedme 4/5/07 262/227/155 -

Ok, ladies and gents...I love that I have finally found the right thread. I posted this on the shrinking violets thread (my April 07 group), and didn't get the responses I was looking for. I actually told my doctor this, he said it was the first he'd ever heard of this. About 3 weeks, post op, Susanne and I had some "hot and steamy". Each orgasm felt great of course, but weird in the port site. As we continued, I was almost dreading the orgasms. After about 7 or 8 orgasms, I was dying...I finally had to hold up the white flag. It hurt for about 2 days after that. The pain was dull, but constant. This is the first time I've ever heard anyone else talk about discomfort w/ orgasms. Thanks for sharing...now I know that I am ok. This is a great thread. Thanks for letting me share, and sorry if this is TMI. Peace out family! -

Well, I have tried a little, ahem, solo-ish (DH here, just not active participant) sumpn-sumpn, so obviously there was no actual physical activity that hurt. But when "the moment" arrived (well, ya know, the body sorta involuntarily tenses up) it did hurt and pretty much offset any good feelings it produced. So I think I need to wait at least a week or so before I attempt anything else... Oh my goodness I really relate to this!!! LOL! I did the same thing the day after I got back from the hospital and I'll never forget that port pain when "the moment" arrived. Sorry everyone if this is TMI! The next day my and my girl actually tried it out and somehow we made it work, but my port didn't stop hurting during "the moment" for about two weeks! -
Well, I guess that's just an assumption on my part. I have read of many who were taken off meds before surgery and then never had to take them again. I have a feeling that with the weight loss and eating so much less food, my sugars will go back to normal pretty quickly. But, as I said, that's just an assumption (and a hope)! Also, I was wondering if anyone takes or has taken Metformin ER. I had to take it because the other tore my stomach up but I am wondering if it is not being absorbed as well because (sorry, tmi) sometimes the whole pill comes back out in the end. Does anyone know about this? Thanks.

Thanks for all the giggles this morning! (This is TMI, but Judy and I wear the same panties, lol). The thought of Terry shooting Propel throught her nose is too funny...you people crack me up! Lunasa~ maybe your band is the baby you were thinking about when Baby 07 came to mind. I like the idea of you being the baby too, we all need to be babies, and take care of ourselves! "Rock a by bandsters, on the tree top..." (sometimes I crack myself up).:biggrin1: I survived yesterday! Actually, it was very fun, I had never been, so I was excited! This time of year, it is nice to get out of the classroom once in a while! The kids were great (most of them...there was this one, oh man, what a pill). The bus ride was terrible. Picture this, it is 100 degress yesterday, and the bus overheats. The only remedy is to TURN THE HEAT ON! OMG...not fun. I was sick and so tired when we got back. Then I had to wait an hour and 15 min for the kids to be picked up...I am getting old! Keep posting Violets, I need the giggles today just to stay awake! Love ya all! -
Welcome Rainbow, jsrico, and loveinmypedro, I am happy to see more joining our little happy group. Rainbow to answer your question, it has been so long since I had my last fill that I don't remember. When I get a feeling like my band is pinching me, it is because I need to have a bm, it then goes away. I know TMI. lol jsrico, congratulations on getting your loan, hope all goes well with the Dr.

Well, I'm back to "almost normal"........feeling pretty good again, the drippy nose is almost dry (TMI)............ Got to NIA yesterday, but this morning I stayed home to wash clothes and clean up after our gang from Sacramento's trip to visit this week-end.......................we had so much fun with all the kiddies...........had all 8 grandkids over most of the time..................I'm pooped, but with a happy Grammy glow! I now have to think about our trip to the east coast............getting excited about that! Hope you all had a happy Mommies Day! Will get back to being serious about exercise starting tomorrow......not sure if I'll be able to make the my goal this month, but I'll give it my all.

Hellllllllp! I am a slooooooow loser.I accept responsibility for sometimes making wrong choices, but for the most part I am trying to be a good bandster.I haven't had fill since 11/06.I find it impossible to eat or drink anything cold before the afternoon without the PB thingy. Before I could eat chicken, tuna etc without any problems, now I have problems eating meat unless it's boiled to shredds like in a soup.I don't eat red meat, but trying so hard to be a good bandster I tried to eat steak, ground beef(sloppy joe).Wellllll lets just say I had a meeting in the ladies room with a bucket while being on the throne.(sorry 4 tmi) I can eat veggies pretty good and my co-workers umm aren't happy about my lack of a gas shortage due to increase in beans(for the protein) and my side effects from protein shakes.Does anyone else have issues eating meat?
