    My first NSV

I had a first NSV today, but it's kinda wierd!! I was fixing a store bought chocolate cake that some icing had come off . It is for my future daughter in law's birthday today. After I put the cake away, I noticed that the box side had a huge slab of icing on it. I needed the box for the cake, so I took the knife and scrapped off that icing. and .......threw it down the garbage disposal, followed by hot water! I have never in my life thrown away icing, especially chocolate....it feels so good to be in better control!

    Melbourne Chat Thread!!!!

Hi everyone, I went to see the surgeon today - he was happy with my progress since the last fill, so no new fill for me today. Hooray! It is our 10th wedding anniversary, so it meant that I could enjoy dinner out without having to stick with soup! LOL! Also had some major NSV's with clothes shopping today - I went to Big City Chic to get a party dress and some new tops. So I march into the change room with an armful of the usual sized 24's, 26's and XL items. ALL TOO BIG!!! Most of the dresses and tops I grabbed off the rack were too small!! One strapless size 24 top FELL OFF TO MY WAIST!!!! ROFL!!! HOORAY!!! YIPPEE!!!:sun: I ended up buying a dress (size 22, AND it needs taking in a bit around the top), a top (both size 22), a second top (SIZE 20!!!), and the best bit - a bolero cardigan - SIZE M!!! That's right, M for MEDIUM!!! WTF!!! HOOOPLA!!!! :rockon:GOTTA LOVE THIS LAPBAND!!!

    Who is in March?

I got my sleeve on March 4th and have lost 59 lbs since. My journey has been good so far. My hair loss has kicked in but I've been expecting that. There have been no complications so I can't complain. NSVs lately has been going to my hometown for a wedding last week and be described as "skinny" "tiny" and "small". I've never been described this way before. I'm happier and would do this over again in a heartbeat.

    Weighing ...

I was bulimic 30 years ago & then quit purging but kept binging. Then I really gained. Therapy has helped (and is) helping me with my head issues. You are doing great! Just look at it as doing the best you can everyday & you'll be surprised how fast it goes. Then, enjoy the NSV's (non scale victories). All the best!

    December 2013 Sleevers Come In!

O my gosh. Just wanted to share this. I was sitting at work and look down an saw I had cross my legs. I was amazed and looked at my coworker and said "look my legs are crossed." She had a blank look on her face and I told her this was a first for me in a long time. We had a NSV high five. Yeah for me.
  10. Yes!! I can't wait until my hubby and I can sit in jetted tub together without it overflowing the sides:) Congrats on your NSV.

    Bras!

Congrats on your NSV!!! Sadly I'm having a hard time accepting the shrinking. Before surgery I was a 40DDD. Today I was professionally measured for the first time since surgery at a 38B or C depending on the bra. I cried. I knew they would shrink but at 5 weeks post op I wasn't thinking it would be this fast. Honestly my chest was the ONE thing I liked about myself when I was overweight. It was the one thing I knew I had that I could flaunt and made me feel sexy. Regardless of all the fat. But today felt like someone ripped my "sexy security blanket" from me. I know I'll get over it. I'm grateful for my weight loss and being healthy but it's hard to let go of the one part of me that I loved and made me feel good about myself for so long. Learning to love my new body has been a lot harder than I thought. It's so foreign to me.

    Monday Morning Weigh In

Good Morning!! Well, I am hoping that this will be my last week of 200's!!! I am staring Onederland hard in the face and couldn't be more delighted. Today, I am at 201 and change - less than three months post op! I am looking forward to introducing a few more carbs into my diet - someday this year! :biggrin2: The NSV's are vast but primarily, I feel like a million bucks - I can easily ride my mtn bike 25 miles and kick my hubbies butt while doing so - we ride 3-4 times per week and wow has it made a difference! It's fun again instead of "ohmygodimgoingtodie"! So looking forward to reporting in next week UNDER 200!!! You guys are my heros!! Carol
  13. I am 7 weeks out and finally (and slowly) adding regular food back into my diet (I couldn't be more excited to finally get a salad LOL). I went through the whole 3-4 week stall and got over it. But my biggest triumph has been the revelation that my relationship with food has changed...and continues to change!!!! The holidays could not be a more perfect a time for this to happen. I attended an office party yesterday and watched my co-workers (large, small and in between pile food onto their plates and into their mouths....and instead of feeling bad about the fact that I was eating so little, I just kept thinking "Wow, that's soooo much food"!!! It's hard to believe that I used to eat like that and it's even harder to imagine eating like that again!! And even if I didn't lose another pound, my new relationship with food makes it ALL worth it!!
  14. I guess I'm just venting. Before surgery, I would read people's comments/concerns of "what if it doesn't work for me? what if I can't lose?" and think... of course you're going to lose! You've had your stomach mostly or entirely removed and you're eating a small fraction of what you used to! But now, I get it... I'm about 5.5 weeks post op - in total I've lost almost 40 pounds, but that includes close to 20 pounds in the pre-op liquid diet. In the last 30 days I have only lost about 10 pounds. I never expected to lose 20 pounds a week (I was only about 100 pounds overweight going into surgery) but I did expect to lose more than this. I get more than my daily water intake, all of my protein, take my vitamins, I eat a variety of foods and usually hover around 500-600 cals a day, low to no carb... I do the peloton now that I can exercise 3-4 times a week with strength training and I walk 10,000+ steps a day. Over the last week I have gained 1 pound. I know I know I know that its not based on the scale, to look at my NSVs, and to keep my eyes on the prize long term. But I also feel like I have been able to lose more weight than this on my own in the past. I know it wasn't long term and I couldn't sustain it, but when I think about all of the prep I did, how sick I was, the sacrifices that I have made and how hard I have worked and am working, its easy to feel defeated. I expected to lose at least 15+ pounds a month for the first few months at least, not just hover on these constant plateaus. I'm worried about when I am finally going to stop losing altogether since people say it drops faster in the beginning and then really slows down... I'm already super slow.
  15. i stalled a little at the 8 week mark also then things just settled down and i started losing fast. i am 8 months out and 122 pounds down. look for the nsv's - rings are looser, bras and panties looser. lock that scale up girl. i was an obsessive weigher in the beginning but i had to quit. now i just weigh when i go to support group or to my md's. good luck!
  16. At one point in our lives my hubby lost 90 lbs and I lost 50. Let's just say there was "new territory explored"....he gained back the weight and so did I... Now I've lost 90 lbs and he has decided its time for him to get back on weight watchers... Weight loss makes a big difference in how close you can get and the that pesky pad of fat in the genital area Better sex is one of the biggest NSV's...a personal favorite of mine!!!!lol
  17. Sure, I had a lot of doubt, but also a lot of determination. I told everyone I got the Band so it would be embarrasing if I failed. I put myself out there as the guy that had surgery. Despite this determination, I still wonder if I can lose 100 pounds. Or can I get to my goal which would be 145 pounds lost. All this, even after losing 76 pounds so far. I will probably alway have doubt. Just have to overcome it with my determination to win. I sometimes have a hard time seeing the loss in my mirror. I really only notice it in my clothes size, scale and the hundreds of NSV's I encounter. Last night, I went to a hockey game in a local arena. I noticed halfway thru the first period that I did not touch both sides of the seat and was really kind of pressed up against one side of the seat. Then I saw a guy that I did not think look bigger than me squeeze into a seat in front of me and press both arm rests. Wow, did I feel successful. To you new bandsters, have the doubt, but overcome it with determination. Don't be afraid to succeed, but know success comes with hard work and discipline. YOU CAN DO THIS!!!! TJ
