    Unbelievable that I did this!!

it's weird . It comes and goes for me. I have had small glasses of milk and done okay. Yesterday I went to a wedding and I could not figure out what I at or drank but I sure had gas and diarrhea (sorry tmi) when I got home.
  2. Yes we need a secret group. I would love to be part of that. Only my husband and mother know. On another note, I was sleeved June 30 and am also in a 6 day stall. I've lost 11 pounds since surgery and lost them on the first few days then nothing since! Of course I also haven't had a BM in a week! ???? Took some miralax yesterday and today so hoping that changes soon! Sorry TMI!!

    ECO Thread

Alyson -wow, you go! What is TMI, by the way? I just subscribed to a CSA as well and I'm really excited about getting locally produced meat and veggies. I was at Kroger today and just for sh!ts and giggles thought I'd ask if they have any organic meat (not that I thought they did), but he said they had chicken (gasp!), so I bought some. I couldn't believe it. We've got a soon to be four year old boy and I used to bike with him a lot on the back of my bike but he's too big for that now, so we're driving a lot of places where we can bike. So I'm going to get one of those bike trailer things - not the one they just sit in and get pulled, but the one that has pedals and a wheel and a seat so they can pedal too.
  4. Hi, I just had my conversion to bypass from sleeve two days ago and today I had my first vowel movement. Great I thought! Now, rather than passing gas I run to the bathroom just in case it’s not. I’ve had about 3-4 small bouts of loose stools today. Is this normal at all?

    Ladies And Gents

Thanks, Spicy. A girl in the pre-op class said the same thing today. She also said she had the runs from the shake. TMI right.

    After surgery....

You will be fine alone. I was alone during the day and actually was happy about it because the gas gods were not good to me. It sounded like a shooting range in my house, but since I was alone, I didn't worry about it. (and I am happy to report no animals were hurt by the cross fire) Sorry if that was TMI! I had my surgery on a Thursday, was released from the hospital on Saturday, was off 1 full week and back to work on the following Monday, with no problems, and most importantly, no gas heehee! Good luck! You will be just fine

Americans - help a stupid tourist!

Don't worry about the fridge, in the US almost all hotels have some sort of ice dispensing machine. Try to find a bottle with a big opening, where you can pour in Protein powder, Water and top it off with ice to shake it. The "ready to drink" stuff may look like a better alternative, but in most cases warm Protein Drink are awful and you are better off with a mix shaken on ice. I do like GNC too, and they are very generous if you buy something you don't like. You can just bring it back - even opened and used (moderately used of course), no problem at all. I like the GNC Wheybolic Extreme chocolate - chocolate has almost no aftertaste and a serving has 280 calories and 60g of protein (I usually have half a serving for breakfast). I mix it with water. Don't forget, in the US you can pretty much tell the waiter what you like and what you don't like - I am from Germany (but living in the US for 11 years now) and most waiters in Germany would slap me over the head if I would tell them "No butter, no croutons, dressing on the side, no almond slivers on the salad and no mayo on the bun" etc. I imagine Denmark is similar :-) And I don't think anything on here is ever TMI :-) Have a great trip!
  8. Hi all, Ok I need input here. Im really NOT feeling well. oh the ways.. My huge issue is this searing pain i had posted ab. a few days ago.. 9. I know tmi but I'm on this vicious cycle that just won't go away my surgery is Saturday so wondering if I still have it what is the procedure do they let you wear your panties with a pad or what ? Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G935A using the BariatricPal App
  10. My tummy has also been sensitive on solids. I am 5 wks tomorrow. I wake up feeling good as the day goes on I'm wore plum out. No stamina, energy just blah. Been crabby lately I'm frustrated I can't do all the things I need an want to do. I'm using myfitnesspal recording everything I'm staying between 40 to 70 protein drinking water. ..some juice half an half, I am having an issue with ALERT : TMI: constipation. I have a script it normally works me regular but I've seen a change since surgery on how it even affects me. I still can only get about 2 or 3 oz of bites in. Trying still to establish all meds. .I have been nauseous the past few wks..I actually fought throwing up this morning but I threw up anyway there wasn't nothing but foam..water a tad bit. I have a script for nauseous so I took one calmed it down. My bariatric nurse called today first time since surgery 5 wks out, asked me how I was doing. She said the nauseous will stop it just takes time. Havnt had much an appetite the past few days. I'm over 40 pds down. Overall I'm happy just been irritable I can't do much without dragging but right now. Next Mon me n gfs fly to MB for 5 days I hope I get some stamina back...hang in there everyone! Were on the mend...

    Fruits & Vegetables......

I was afraid to eat veggies and fruit till about 6 months out. They kinda made me feel sick, but I missed them terribly. I am now over a year out, and about 9 months from surgery I started eating salads with just romaine and tomatoes. I now can put any raw veggies in it and not have any problems. I HAVE to have fruit and veggies or I get so constipated that I have actually injured myself. (not going into detail as it is too much tmi) but I now consume at least one salad with 1/2 to 1/4 cup servings of at least 5 different veggies, eat an orange and apple everday, and mix my Protein shake with blueberries in the morning. I only have one Protein Shake a day, but since I lost a LOT of hair, I try to get in at least 75 grams of protein a day. I just have to make sure that I also get in my veggies. I still have problems with grains. They get stuck, and I end up throwing up most of the time. Just not worth it to me. As time goes by, things will get easier. I CAN eat oatmeal in the morning if I decide to mix my vanilla Protein powder in as my milk, and it doesn't make me sick. I love oatmeal, and was told by my pre-op nutritionist that I would never be able to eat it ever again. If I use the shake as the milk, I'm not getting the sugar from the milk. Highest weight: 375 Preop weight: 340 Current weight: 223 VSG - Dr. Chaisson 4/7/2010

    Tofu! Who knew??

Y'all, I'm so excited. My husband loves Chinese food, and I love hot and sour Soup. However, as many of you know from reading my whiny rants on other threads, I have had a really hard time keeping food down--even things like soft-scrambled eggs. So yesterday, we were near his favorite Chinese place, and we decided to eat dinner there; this was scary for me, since there's a VERY short list of things I seem to be able to tolerate, and I really didn't want to get sick in yet another restaurant bathroom (sorry if TMI). So I decided to just have the broth from a cup of soup and go from there. It was yummy, and I ate my couple of bites, tried some of the tofu in the soup broth, and loved it, AND it stayed down and felt good. I asked our waitress about possibly adding more tofu at home, and she said sure, sounded good. We stopped on the way home and got some firm tofu, and I cut half the package up and put it into the leftover soup (probably around 1-1/2 c. of soup, since I didn't eat much of it). Today I got a slotted spoon and got out some of that "marinated" tofu, heated it up, and it was FANTASTIC!!! I was able to enjoy something really yummy, get some Protein, and not be sick!!! Now I'm investigating good tofu recipes. Any of you vegetarian or semi-vegetarian types have good suggestions to share? Thanks! I'm so much happier about things today. Amazing what being able to eat something does for one's mood. Meg

    Plateauing & Aggravated

Oh, that last pound or two are the hardest. So close yet so far. I sat just off my goal for almost three weeks so I feel your pain. It’s like those numbers are just taunting you. Catwoman7 is also right. A real good bowel movement or a night peeing can see the scale drop a pound or so. (Sorry if tmi.) Try to look at your plateau as if your body is just sorting itself out & finding its new ... I so want to say its new normal but that phrase has been ruined forever. I know it’s easy to say that but it is sort of what’s happening. Your body is working out what it needs to function & maintain at a weight in relation to your calorie intake & activity level. It could just be your natural fluctuation around the weight your body is happy at. Mine fluctuates about 1kg (2.2lb) so similar to yours. Congratulations on your weight loss. It’s a wonderful achievement

    a little bummed out

It might be TMI for some people.
  15. I’m only one month post surgery, and I thought I was ‘doing well’ then eat too much 2 days ago and had what must have been dumping, such awful cramps etc (I won’t give you tmi but you can guess). So I have gone back to tiny amounts of purees again because my gut just feels sore and upset. So I guess that my ‘forgetting’ I have had the surgery has had horrible consequences. Re. the getting hungry…I have that as well, but so much of it is ‘head hunger’, I want something sweet after dinner, that’s a habit, and ‘mouth hunger’ I crave crunchy, salty food. It’s not real hunger. My brain is saying ‘but you are eating so little, how can you possibly not be starving hungry’ but if I ignore those messages the ‘hunger’ passes (specially if I drink some liquid. A cup of tea, or a Miso soup help my 4pm crash. Really, really listening to your body, stopping before you are full is the way to go. I haven’t really been doing that, and the consequences were grim! Anyway hope that helps….I’ve got to deal with this myself, so any ‘advice’ is just my thoughts…I’m not sure there is a magic answer!

    Righteous Restriction

Finally…fill number 4 seems to have done the trick. I have been working closely with one PA at my doctors to find restriction. Each week I have been providing them a detailed food and exercise log. We reviewed my food log and how long 8 oz. meals were lasting (2-3 hours) and agreed that another fill was appropriate. However, they took a very different approach this time. Instead of picking a fill amount and then seeing how it went over the next few weeks. They drained the entire band and then refilled the band while I was drinking water until it would not go down anymore them they backed things off to let a little go through. Prior to this I have felt a definitive ceiling on food consumption (10-12 oz) so I can’t complain that it was not helping…but I never felt like I was experiencing restriction. This is the first time after a fill that a protein shake has had to be drunk in stages. I have gotten away without chewing everything to death; I have certainly slowed down and did chew much more than in the past. However, going forward I am definitely going to have chew much more carefully. I am back to liquids for a few days and finally feel confident that I will be finding a long lasting restriction experience this time. It is good to feel that I am finally getting what we paid for…Despite not having had a full restriction experience before this, I am thrilled with the things the LapBand process has done for me to this point. I am down 98 pounds so far, including pre-op, and have 78 more to go. My goals is to get the last 78 done over the next 6 months and then stabilize for a few months, so I can use our annual shutdown in December to get some PS done and have those 2 weeks to recover for the New Year. It is pretty clear I will have to get reductions on the waist and my “moobs.” (sorry…probably under the heading of TMI)

    3 weeks of carnation

I had to do the carnation shakes as well. It sucked!! Did some very unpleasant things to my stomach , TMI but I'm trying to be truthful. That being said, as sucky as the pre op diet it was, I now know it was well worth it. It's gonna suck but you can do it!!!
  18. I want to stand up without having to pull my dress out of my butt. Sorry tmi
  19. I'm 3 days post-op and have a couple of questions. 1. What's with this frothy foamy stuff coming up from my stomach? Does it mean I'm drinking too much, not enough, or just something that happens? 2. How long did you guys wait before taking a laxative? I don't feel like I'm constipated and have been passing gas. (TMI, sorry) But I'm afraid to let it go too long and also afraid to put a laxative into my poor abused GI tract right now. And advice? Thanks!
  20. Honestly? I pass it. LOL! I try to muffle it - I have an office with a door, so I'm able to do that here, or else I'll go into the bathroom. I do have some gas x that I will take if the pain gets bad. And I spoke too soon about the BM. Goodness sakes the mother of all hit me not too long ago. I guess it takes a few days for your system to start getting rid of things. Sorry for the TMI! I was relieved and yet like "oh crap" (literally) at the same time. :frown:
  21. I have PCOS as well and I was able to have a child. Everyone is different your body is still adjusting. It is a big adjustment. Also, your periods may be different then other people’s you may not even bleed heavily like everyone else is you may just be discharging or see brown spots that may be confused by urine (sorry TMI) but don’t stress. We live in modern times. There is always a way to have a child. Look at all your options and talk to your doctor about it. Remember our bodies are going through an adjustment period. Focus on the weighloss and succeeding. Once your journey has settled, revisit this topic. Let your body heal and if tests have confirmed you are fertile then you are fertile. Good luck!

    Converting from Sleeve to Bypass?

I will be four months out on the 23rd. I had a rough start not because of the surgery itself but because I got pneumonia and became serverly dehydrated was basically miserable the first month. That being said, I've lost 30 lbs (which puts me 10lbs from my goal) It's slow but that's expected. I can eat anything/everything and my portion size is really much larger than it should be for someone who has had 3 surgeries! But it's the mgb that keeps me losing. Nothing and I mean NOTHING I eat stays with me too long. I'm in the bathroom A LOT! sometimes as many as 8-10x a day. It's worse when I make bad food choices but really with a 9' bypass even good foods pass through pretty quickly. I've asked others and not everyone expereinces this and it's not really dumping (though I have had that too) because I don't get sick with it or sweat or stomach cramps at least not often. Hope this isn't TMI but it's worth knowing I think because I wasn't prepared for it to be like this! I will try to answer any specific questions you have... Who is doing you surgery? My same surgeon is doing my surgery in Belgium, paid by myself like yourself, Been doing a lot of research on it and I think it's the way forward for me I'm scheduled for October 12/15, I can't give up now I've been through too much, sleeve didn't work for me band did but way too much trouble even thou I loved it,so I take it you are happy you went ahead and got bypass
  23. lunarose

    Just sleeved!

Thanks guys it is good to be on this side. I haven't had too much gas trouble when does that start? I even had a small BM this am I know TMI(G) I am a little more sore but not too bad. Thanks you all for the support I don't think I could do this without it. Nancy

    Sex After Weight Loss

This is funny because I was about to post a thread about sex today too! I'm a month post-op and have had sex twice since surgery. (I only waited 10 days, doc said I could do it when I felt ready.) The "friend" I was with last night was kind of an experiment of sorts because I had not had sex with him in several months, back when I was at my highest weight. I wanted to "test it out" and see if I noticed a difference with 85 pounds gone. Little did I know he had lost a bunch of weight too. (He's not a big guy, just lost most of his beer gut. lol) So, of course, he lost inches in his waist and gained it you-know-where. I felt much smaller or shallower down there now. It has never hurt with him before and last night I let out a few yelps of pain. Afterwards I told him I was mad at him because he "punched my cervix." lol We had a good laugh! But that was the ONLY negative! Everything else was great! It was so nice to wrap my legs around his waist or hold my own legs up more easily! Oh, I love the TMI threads on this site!
  25. I was conflicted before I had surgery, I am SOOO happy now. At 12 weeks out tonight we had a special dinner for my son, I had 1/4 cup of brown rice and about 6 oz of strip steak, and a few bites of green beans, A little later I had about a 1/4 cup of oreo ice cream. I was totally comfortable. Now I NEVER eat like this but I am getting ready to start my period (TMI) and it was a special time for my son, the point is I can eat normal foods (just MUCH less) and I can do it comfortably and I am completely satiated afterward because I am full. I highly recommend the sleeve, I can not imagine that you will not be thrilled too. Best wishes to you!
