    Question fot the Ladies

Getting graphic here but I decided not to do the wax because it's like 60 bucks around here. EEK! Why couldn't Santa bring me a gift card. So i'm going back to shaving. I'm thinking of just shaving the bikini line and trimming the rest. Do you girls shave between your legs? I don't usually get razor bumps there so it's mainly the mons area where I get bumps. Anyway! Hopefully not TMI or too personal questions.

    "If......Then....."

Ahhh....Mini- you hit the NAIL on the HEAD on this one... I 'forget' that one side effect to the weight/depression is I have ZERO sex drive...(at the risk of 'tmi' I have not um....'had fun' in going on 2 years) so I am sure when the wieght comes off the 'sap will rise' again... right now I think I have literally taken myself mentally OUT of the dating pool- somone would have to be very agressive to date me (would I let them in the door with out paranoia (what do they really want? certainly not my body...etc...). my mom says maybe I have hit my bottom....may be some real truth to that... as to the job hunting- I totally agree- I can't picture me in an ill fitting suit, sweating, trying to fit in a too small chair walking into ANY interview...it IS about the looks. That said I do have one advantage I forget about...I am 6'4 1/2" so that is a plus. a side note- another reason I want to do this...my father is not getting any younger and really wants to see me happy, I think this might be a big tool to that goal (I would also love to see him see me in a healthy stable relationship before he is gone...)
  3. I got a call from the dietician yesterday telling me that my test results for albumin and Iron were still low. I told her she was mistaken about the albumin because I was holding test results in my hand that I took August 27th that read 3.9 g/dl (range is 3.5-5.0 g/dl). I was upset about the iron because I have been taking 65mg of iron twice a day religiously for the last seven weeks. The constipation has been killing me and I have (TMI) an anal fissure that I've been trying to heal this whole time. I really want to cry cuz nothing seems to be going right. I also found out that the PCIP insurance that I have will expire Dec. 31st 2013 and I'll have to pick another plan. The new plan may not have weight loss surgery as a ryder and then all of this work will have been done for nothing. So I feel like I'm in between a rock and a hard place. I'm bumping my iron up to 65mg 3 times a day in hopes of getting these labs straight by next month (Oct. 8th will be the last of my PCP visits and everything will be ready to be submitted). I just needed to talk about it.

    Stomach Flu when banded

I caught the stomache flu 4 days after banding. It was not fun, but since I was on liquids only just alot of dry heaving (TMI). I don't think it was as violent as pre-banding ever was, so that was good. But i was VERY scared.

    Slimies. Foamies.

happens to me when i eat too fast, which sadly has happened 3 times. you have a pressure in your chest - feels kinda like you ate a brick, and then you feel like you have to burp or something. you try to pull up a burp but instead, it's mucousy "slime." not pleasant, and the times it's happened to me, I've had to induce vomiting to ease pressure.. I dont have to use my finger (tmi, yall) just keep doing that "burp/suck" thing and it keeps coming out for up to an hour. NOT fun. you'd think I'd learn, but I have 6 kids and dinner time is crazy time around hereand i HATE hate hate hate eating slow. well maybe 3 hates for eating slow, and 4 for overeating.

    Before Surgery ***tom***

My TOM has been the woooooorst!!! I got it one week after surgery and it has literally knocked me on my hurt and the couch all week. I'm so tired. Bleeding and clots like I've never seen before (sorry if tmi) I can't wait for this to be OVER!!

Not for the squeamish or shy...

Shelley & Gonnagetbanned, Milk of Magnesia finally did the trick for me. I took everything under the sun before I broke down and tried good ol' MoM. It's true, it's slimy, but swallow it quickly, drink some Water afterward, and go to bed. I had to take it two days in a row before it worked, but then again, I have IBS w/constipation as a regular problem, so that didn't surprise me that it didn't work the first time around. Now I add Miralax sometimes and Benefiber sometimes to my drinks. I must ask others this TMI question, though: Has the quantity/amount of BM you are passing gone way down? B/C mine has... a LOT. I guess that's normal since we're eating much less, right? But it never went down significantly when I was on other diets.
  9. I am 2 months post vsg . Down 85 pounds so far . I went to Dr. Mario Almanza in Tijuana Mexico . No problems, great experience . I'm having problems with vomiting again. It went away for a while and back again, also Idk if tmi but I don't void as much as I did before ... My weight loss kinda plateaued. Any diet or exercise tips y' all ? Yea I'm in Arlington, Texas .
  10. Yo are not alone, you will get it back slowly. But for now you must try to have sex with your huband. TMI Sorry. He is there for you through your changes don't push him away. You can always please your husband eventhough you don't want to be pleased. I am now about 7 month s out and I don't do it the way I use to but since the weight lost it has been the best sex I have. Good luck
  11. Not trying to ask tmi but are you able to have bowel movements? With this band it requires crazy efforts and taking fleet everyday. Thank you in advance, Amy
  12. My surgery was not sceduled until tomorrow. My doctor called me last week and was if I could move it up to last Thursday. With my juggling with my job and responsibilities it happened. I truely believe this was GODs way of getting me through the surgery. I had spent the weekend before reading a lot of everyone's post and truth be told had almost talked myself out of surgery. I went in at 11 am to forest park medical plaza in Dallas Texas. ( The Westin of all hospitals) my husband asked me If I paid for a VIP suite. The place is amazing! I was bad I was "working " till they rolled me in and knocked my butt out. Three hours later my husband said the surgeon came out saying all went well but he had found a very large hiatal hernia. I also have Barrettes easaphugus. Btw I've had no reflux at all. Popsicles don't cause reflux a guess! Not gonna lie I was not a happy camper when I woke up the nausea really sucked. I didn't have much pain to even speak of. I swear if one more person told me to get up and walk heads were gonna roll! Walking does help move the gases. I didn't have a lot of gas pains. I was pooting by the next day ( Friday) they were kinna pushing me to go home but I was self pay and I thought no way I'm staying here. Felt safer. But I soon realized Saturday when I did get home I felt so much better. I am 51 pretty tuff most of the time. This is not the easy way out so get over any of those negative thoughts. You have to walk this walk. It's all different for everyone. Yesterday I weighed myself I was like WTF 7lbs heavier then the day I went in. I was 197. But today at 530 I'm 196 they pump you with lots and lots of fluids! Sip sipsip everything is way to sweet for me. I've got to find the right protein mix advocate vanilla and orange sugar free jello teaspoon for teaspoon water and ice. And sip not to bad. Just don't drink a lot of water before or after. It gets messy. I know Tmi! Sorry for my typos. No glasses imams I'm typing from my iPhone !four days out! Oh btw. Walk walk walk

    Skinny

Those were all of my selfish reasons for wanting the surgery but I had major health problems that finally pushed me to get it. I love being able to buy cute clothes and get cute bathing suits. I feel so healthy more than I feel skinny. I have more energy and it has been great for my libido. Husband is thrilled (sorry TMI
  14. Okay, I was banded on 7-15-09 and I already suffer from chronic constipation. I know that this surgery can cause constipation and my surgeons advice is MOM. Well, I tried this and it made me vomit. Not going there again. I've seen some people say that they use benefiber and it helps. Did any of you suffer prior to surgery with this condition? Just wondering, today is the first day I've been able to "go" since the Saturday before surgery and even that was laxative induced. Thanks for the help. Sorry for the gross specifics:eek:

    Wife get surgery 6/9

What a great hubby you are. I would say from personal experience, make helping her any way you can for the first week or so your first, second, and third priority. When I had my surgery, my DH roomed in with me and every time I so much as winced, he was right there trying to help. Walked with me, helped me dress, and even helped change my tampon TMI I know. When I got home, he made my Protein shakes and broth and helped me up and down the stairs. Best of luck to your wife with her surgery!!
  18. Patrick, with your commitment, I know you will do great! You will be ahead of me, so I am watching you (not in a stalking way).... I'm really hoping the drain thing doesn't happen to me, that's what grosses me out. The catheter, well for women ( I had one with my c-section), wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I did pee myself (tmi?) once just after they took it out b/c I couldn't feel it until, well it was too late. My husband, just like your wife are very supportive, so we are very lucky. Your time will come before you know it!

    August Chat

I've been working like a dog in my DD's room this afternoon, and I'm on my "break" right now...we went to IKEA and got her a futon for her room! We're moving the twin bed that's in there now to my DH's room, and that bed is goin' OUT. (oh yeah, we have our own rooms for sleeping due to snoring...still lovebirds, though...sorry, TMI) SOOOOO, as you know, when you start one of those projects, it leads to others....and I've cleaned out her closet, her dresser, under her bed, and so on. It feels good to get it out of there! I lost 1 lb. last week, although two days ago it was 2 lbs, so WTF? It's mysterious, sometimes, huh? Yes, I did have some ice cream, and I agree with ya'll. When I try to deny myself a particular food, it makes me want it soooooo much! The Lent thing worked fine, but then I was doing it for a more spiritual reason, I guess. My personal goal, beginning 8/8/06: (don't laugh!) 15 minutes of physical activity that isn't regular stuff. On purpose exercise of some kind. Every day. Eileen, are you keeping a list? Are we just reporting in each day how we did? Darcy, I'm craving a peppermint mocha sooo bad. The nearest Starbucks is 15 miles away, so tough for me. Hope you enjoyed your sis. I'm gonna go read some posts, then go back into the DD's room and take advantage of her absence to straighten out her little world! LOL! Hugs, Cindy

    Week 5- Lmao!

OK so since last weeks blog got deleted, ill do a quick update. STATS: surgery 12-12-11 5'7" Hw: 265 GW:250 DoS:238.1 CW:212.1 DOWN 26 LBS...OH YEA! So here it is week 5. And honestly i think im doing pretty well.. Ive had ups Ive had downs, but overall im doing good... CAUTION-- this might be TMI.. lol So on the 14th, mother nature decided she was gonna rear her ugly head, gotta love that time of the month. And so far i havent really dealt with any stalls.. i had a minor gain the 3rd week, but that came off with some so i wasn't to unhappy and it only lasted a day or two so wasn't to bad. Anyways, so i have been steadily loosing approx 2 lbs per day before my TOM, and then once it started i gained 2 lbs.. damn water retention..lol. anyways So even tho im back to 212, im just sitting at this number until my cycle ends. its a little frustrating, but its just something im going to have to deal with. I guess the reason that i brought it up is because now im just going to laugh... this means every month im gonna deal with this. LMAO! ugh the joys of being a woman. Ill tell you why its funny to me.. before surgery i had been on DEPO for 9 years. I haven't had a freaking period in 9 years... ugh now im gonna have one every month. lolololol... FABULOUS! Anyways thats my rant and rave for the week.. other than that.. YUP im still hitting the gym 5 days a week, and it feels great!... JUST STARTED KICK BOXING... and lemme tell you.. that is a work out and a half!.. lastly, i have my follow up with my surgeon on the 27th! Im hoping she releases me to start doin full workouts.. i want to start working my abs!

How Are You One Week Post-Opers

Tomorrow I will be a full week post-op. As a wound care nurse, I was overly pleased that my wounds are pretty much totally healed - yay! Still a little soreness at the lap keyhole where my penrose drain was, but nothing too bad. In many ways, my recovery has gone beautifully. I was able to lean over and pick things off the floor at 4 days post op, can walk pretty well (though I'm slow), drove home 5 hours on 3rd post-op day. On the other hand....my sleeve is a tempermental tyrant (we call him Cthulu Jr.). He won't tolerate plain Water in any form - tepid, warm, cold - I get terrible cramping and bubbles, often resulting in that gut-wrenching kind of gas. My sense of smell has become hypersensitive - on the drive home, my husband opened a bag of Doritos in the car and it felt like my stomach was going to come up through my nose. It's been the only time I had really terrible nausea. My doc has me on clears until 10 days post op, and I've yet to make my Fluid goal of 60 oz a day yet - I'm lucky to hit 30oz. Even watered down, anything with sugar gives me terrible cramping diarrhea - apple juice, white grape juice, clear VitaminWater. I have attempted liquid Protein twice (once with Isopuke, once with Nectar), both times with extreme discomfort. I had 3 sips over 30 minutes, and then it sat in my abdomen like a lead weight for nearly 2 hours. Chest felt tight and I generally felt unwell. WTF? This has been such a change for me. In the past, I was the master of my stomach....even if it said "I'm full!", I would just shove more food into it! Now, I am at the mercy of this tiny abdominal tyrant who gurgles and churns constantly. It's like when my daughter was an infant, before I figured out what her different cries meant and they all sounded the same....is it hungry? Is it full? is it angry?? I can't tell! The worst is those gurgles that I have learned to identify as "Oh my God, find a bathroom...high-speed liquids coming through!". Ugh! It starts bubbling at my low abdomen and progresses in one long, writhing motion up to my esophagus...and I've got about 90 seconds to find a toilet. Sorry, probably TMI. I thought I was prepared for post-op - heck, I've taught bariatric classes! But I feel like a n00b. ~Asche, The Crazy Cat Lady

    Recent "bandits"

Banded July 2nd. I went to work today and my body is starting to function again....all of it. I was really wondering if I was ever going to get rid of that last meal I ate 5 days ago. I didn't eat very much, but it hadn't made an appearance until today. I kind of feel like the senior citizen who's major topic of conversation is their BM...it was getting a little scary. Sorry if this is TMI. I haven't been hungry really, but today those gurgling noises and things were beginning to feel like hunger. I get to start the thicker liquid diet tomorrow, soft yogurt then Wednesday it's on to added protein and by Friday it's liquid but includes the creamy stuff. I feel my recovery is going really well, but I've been up and doing stuff since I got banded. We had a 4th of July party and I actually fixed food and set up for that. Sunday was a sleep and relax day. I didn't take all the pain meds because I really didn't need them. I am sore, very sore at the port site but that too is getting better as long as I don't touch it or the cat doesn't walk on me. I am hoping this tool is the one that finally works for me and with me. I am going to do everything I can to make it successful. I have a long way to go on changing my eating habits and that is going to be very hard. Someone mentioned eating bread with their broth and said it did bad things....what are the complications of doing that? I would like the details, my doctor didn't give me anything like the consequences--just the edict to not do it. I hope everyone recovers quickly and those of you that get the extra time off, really enjoy it. I wish I could. ee
