    Any March 2018 Sleevers?

I'll provide a somewhat detailed summary of how it went: Sunday 9am: At this point I already spent the night at the hospital, they have taken two samples of my blood, gave me a Vitamin B12 injection on my butt (Which surprisingly is one of the most painful things in this whole ordeal), and taken a couple of injections to help blood flow. I was taken down to the OT where they had me lay down on the operation table itself. They began preparing things around me (putting things under my legs and holding my hands down.. thinking about it now it felt like I was being splayed and tied on a table with a mad doctor on my head with a mask going BREATH! DEEP BREATH! BREATH!.. next thing I know that Breath yelling became WAKEY WAKEY!!!!... Sunday 11:30am: The Nausea is unreal. That is and will be the worst thing to experience throughout the initial recovery. I was sent back to my room where I was set up with a morphine me button. Most of that day I was in an out of sleep and morphine (I only pressed the button 10 times to avoid over morphine usage)... The discomfort was real, the back and shoulder pain was tremendous from the bed. I kept doing a breathing exercise using this device to measure how much air is filling the lungs. It really helped reduce a lot of the discomfort. You feel like you want to burp/throw up but nothing happens. Its just there and its super frustrating. Sunday 4:00pm: I got out of bed and began walking around. this really helped finally setting some of the gasses from my stomach. Sunday 9pm: Finally I farted.. Sounds odd to mention it here but it was a bless letting out the gas collected in my stomach from them pumping so much air into it. At this point the Nausea slowly began to reduce and the stomach feels like a bubbling monstrosity slowly calming down. Back pain from laying down too much and the bed being uncomfortable was worse than the stomach issues. Monday 7am: At this point I felt a looot better in terms of the Nausea but stomach discomfort was still there. Overall much better than Sunday's feeling. Back still aching even though I have been walking every 2 hours for 15 minutes. Monday 10:30 am: Gastro Graphine Xray time. I went downstairs, had to drink a yellowish liquid (unlike the chalky white one pre-op). They requested a little bit of a big gulp.. Nope couldn't handle it, threw up immediatly and wow that came out of my stomach? Erm... is this okay? yes.. all that dried blood and stuff is fine, its your body cleaning itself. Monday 9pm: Finally began going to the bathroom regularly. This might be TMI but its something people should keep in mind as a marker when doing it. I finally managed to go to the bathroom and poop.. I won't describe how it looked but I can tell you that the release of gas and fluids was such a relief. At this point I have thrown up total of 3 times, Once in the gastro Graphine, and twice outside. All three due to taking a little bit of a bigger gulp. I kinda did the 3rd one on purpose to test my limitation of what I can handle.. Tuesday 7am: Nausea is about 70% gone from OP day. Stomach discomfort and bubbling still there but not so bad. There are some sharp pains from the wound area but that is when I touch them or move in a way that causes them to get agitated. Doctor passed by and cleared me to leave. Tuesday 12:30pm: Left the hospital. Tuesday 9:30 pm: at this point I felt very weak, very tired as I didn't have any good sleep since the night before the operation. My body has gone through much. I have some mild discomfort in the stomach that comes and goes with the bubbling effect. Wed 8:00 am: What a load of difference today feels than the previous days. Nasea is about 98% gone. Its a little there but nothing you can't ignore. Stomach bubbling calmed down a lot. It really feels like there is a worm breakdancing in there when it happens. My fluid intake since that moment until now has been regular with no issues or any pain. Right now its just slow recovery time. Most of the pain/issues are gone. Now its slowly understanding your stomach and the new diet.
  3. Hi everyone! Glad to have found this forum and hoping some of the experienced folks here might be able to help me understand if what I'm experiencing is normal. I'm 8 days post-op (surgery date was 2/26) and it went relatively smoothly except for being held an extra day inpatient because of difficulty swallowing liquids. Starting about day 5-6, I started having a really hard time swallowing again as well as some pretty bad diarrhea (sorry tmi). I've been regularly experiencing nausea and different types of abdominal pain including feeling like I just took a punch to the middle of my abdomen and a stitch-like feeling across my upper abdomen. Because of this I feel like I'm having trouble getting enough calories/hydration in. I can manage 300-400 calories per day and maybe 20 oz of water on a good day. I feel pretty weak and have almost passed out a couple times. It doesn't feel like a texture issue exactly, more like I just can't fit any more in there, if that makes any sense. Anyway, sorry for the long first post. I'm just really at a loss. I tried calling my doctor and they weren't very helpful so I'm hoping to just get a sense of others' experiences. Thank you!! ❤️
  4. I am on week 2 of my liquid diet. My surgery is in 2 days. Today, I was sitting watching a movie. I felt a little funny and then an orange liquid came out of my bum and soiled my clothing. It did not look like poo at all. It looked like orange water, slightly transparent. Is this because of the liquid diet?
  5. I have PCOS as well and I was able to have a child. Everyone is different your body is still adjusting. It is a big adjustment. Also, your periods may be different then other people’s you may not even bleed heavily like everyone else is you may just be discharging or see brown spots that may be confused by urine (sorry TMI) but don’t stress. We live in modern times. There is always a way to have a child. Look at all your options and talk to your doctor about it. Remember our bodies are going through an adjustment period. Focus on the weighloss and succeeding. Once your journey has settled, revisit this topic. Let your body heal and if tests have confirmed you are fertile then you are fertile. Good luck!
  6. Anyone else on the pre-op diet running to piss almost every hour? This started happening to me today and I am half way through the pre-op diet. Is this just the body letting go of the excess water being held from diets high in sodium? LOL! It's almost to the point where I don't want to be more than a few minutes from the toilet.

    Any February Sleevers?

Hey Sleeved! Glad to see your post! I'm a 2/28 sleever and I'm still on clear liquids but have slowly incorporated sf pudding and thin cream soups. I can keep everything down okay, but it takes a loooong time to finish an ounce or two. Probably not hitting my water goal but it's tough! (Especially when we sleep 8 hours a day.) I was wondering when my first BM would be too. Okay, no one read further as this may be TMI for you. I have been sitting here at the computer and all of a sudden I felt like I had to pass gas. YAAAAY! So I just let go! Wooohoooowwaaaaait a minute. Uh oh. Oh boy. That wasn't just air. I ran to the bathroom and yes, I sh*t my pants. So NOW, lesson learned, I have to sit on a toilet to fart. I'm just glad my body finally moved some semi-solids out of my system. Surely you won't have to wait too much longer for a BM, but if you need to fart, it could be what you're looking for! LOL

    Embarrassing question for the ladies

Not tmi. It's good to help each other. It doesn't sound like my issue because I'm not experiencing that. Just very sharp pain.

    Embarrassing question for the ladies

The herniated muscle on the rear wall of the vagina - it is lax toward the rectum so it 'pushes' in that direction during some positions and is uncomfortable. (Also, not to be gross with tmi, but with pooping it pushes toward the vaginal wall and causes some strain there, esp if any constipation - which is def uncomfortable. So....this surgery is likely to be covered by insurance I'm hoping)
  10. Week 1 Surgeon's Visit My surgeon was so pleased with my progress. She smiled/beamed the whole time!!! And she said I could start eggs today and by this weekend, I could begin adding anything that I can mash with a fork and very soft steamed veggies! Wahooooo!!!!! Thah crahps ah sayuved!!!! I told her I'd been dreaming of a perfect 6 minute soft boiled egg and avocado and poached fish. LOL. She laughed at that! She was taken aback at the extent of my bruising. She said it would all go away with time, but that it was a lot of bruising! And she wants to see me again next week. She ok'd me drinking 12-16oz of water per hour if I want, and loved the amount I was walking. And she said that I'm pretty textbook and right where they want me for weight loss. She was very excited about the lack of pain and about me not being on pain pills and stepping down on the gaba. So it's a great report! And then I did something dumb! LOL. We went out to breakfast to celebrate. And the place didn't do soft boiled eggs or poached eggs, so I asked for 1 egg fried over medium and for a side of avocado slices. I mashed the egg up really well and ate very slowly, chewing very well. (Oh and I blotted the crap outta it, cuz it was cooked in heaps of oil! Blech!) And I ate 3/4 of it. I reckon about 3tbsp total. I had about 1tbsp of avocado and gave the rest to Mr. F. And felt fine, a little burpy--but nbd. But dayum, by the time we were at the polling place to early vote, I was feeling very green and felt in need of a very quick potty break. Made it through voting and home, but by then I had the cold sweats. Came home and had a very "boisterous" visit to the throne that cleaned me out! LOL. Sorry for TMI. And then I laid down and napped. I woke with my pain below the sternum that radiates through to my back. Took some liquid tylenol. And rested for a couple of hours. Now I just had my lunch meal of peach and peanut butter blueberry yogurt soup. So we'll see if I have issues with that meal. I think it was maybe the grease at breakfast? Or the avocado? Or who knows, maybe it's the egg. I will try soft scrambled tonight and see. I don't want to go back on liquids. What was the first food you put down your pie hole post surgery?

  14. AmyAlexis, wow thanks, awesome reminder! I was in a stall for ~7-10 days and hadn't lost a pound, even gained one back. Getting a bit frustrated and it's amazing how frustration can lead to meaningless evening grazing (confession- even if it was just nuts). After reading your post I realized I had started to ignore my water consumption being "too busy at work" and also not drinking any water in the evening. I was getting dehydrated (TMI - color of urine). Last couple of days I have been back to drinking 80+ ounces of water each day, including drinking 2-3 glasses of Crystal Light Red Rasberry ice tea in the evenings after dinner (don't "need" snacks, just liquids) and getting back to a better place (clear). I'm down 2 pounds this week and I made it to 40 pounds lost!!! Last time I was in the 260's was >15 years ago and I was in my 30's (very old man here!) I will hit the half way mark towards my goal in the next week! Feeling great about this since my surgery was Nov 21! Thanks agin for the reminder, worked for me!! Take care! Tex
  15. Thanks to each of you for warming my heart and making me feel your love and support!!! ((hugs)) Surgery went so smoothly. The hardest thing was the anesthesiologist trying to get a vein with the iv catheter. They stuck me like 13 times! NO kidding! But the nurse anesthetist was giving me laughing gas and anesthesia by then and we were talking and laughing and telling jokes while he was suffering trying to find a vein! Luckily the iv in my finger held until they took it out today! I am sipping/walking/having clear liquids today and tomorrow--then on to full liquids and protein drinks. I just weighed (at night) lol, and I'm up 5 lbs from anesthesia but that's fine. I will lose it. Also I appear to be full of sh*t! The surgeon said my colon had a ton of stool that I need to get cleaned out! Sorry for TMI! But apparently pooting and pooping are big things to them! I finally pooted tonight! HA! The real challenge is limiting myself to 4oz per hour! I'm able to drink very easily. I have very little pain and am controlling it now with tramadol and gabapentin. I'm doing so well! Walking, sipping, visiting, napping in my recliner and watching movies! Thank you to all for your prayers and support! I love each of you. I can't believe I finally had the surgery and it's over! I will tell you, that my desire/cravings for food right now are non-existent. And it really doesn't bother me to be on clear liquids. Also, the surgeon said it went so well. I had some adhesions that she removed and that my liver was pink and beautiful and that it was a very easy surgery! Yeeeehawwww! I'm on the losers' bench with ya now!!! ((hugs))

    The first poo

My advice: Scrub that colon clean. That's what I'm planning to do after you suggested it a while back. I'd want my bowels as tidy as possible because with an RnY they Will be monkeying with them more. And #2 (maybe TMI) in my case I have both a cystocele and a rectocele, don't want anything, caught in a pocket and fossilizing down there. So the cleaner and happier bowel for me. Swoosh! Sleeve Procedure at 60

I'm 65 and was sleeved in 10/2017. Feeling great - no real issues (I still eat too fast sometimes). I'm off 14 meds, and all my numbers (trigylcerides/BP/cholesterol/A1C) are amazing and my docs are ticked to death. I wish I had known about it sooner as it has resolved so many chronic health issues. And in the TMI area, my skin is pretty resilient, but then I've only lost 61 lbs. Best in your journey!
  18. Can your Liver really shrink in just 3 days. It just sounds so crazy to me. If you done 3 days how was weight loss? Its interesting that different doctors require so many different things. Also i noticed this diet makes me poop alot **tmi** sorry. Is anyone having that issue?? Sent from my LGMP260 using BariatricPal mobile app

Out With the Old--In With the New!

I am more than slightly egg intolerate, as an example I can tell you how many eggs are in an omelet etc by the amount of gastrointestinal pain. And the smelly loose stool in a few hours, I know I know TMI. Hey things a little snafu for me, I'm in Mansfield now but when I Get home I've got to call Columbus. Lets say my case went to the Bariatric Court of Appeals at my hospital. A prayer at this time would not be unwarranted. Sent from my VS880PP using BariatricPal mobile app

    Hair Loss and Hair Extensions

Cant relate completely cause I havent had my surgery but I had cancer bought 3 wigs and never wore them I think they didnt fit my personality since im so real I felt like I had a dead rat on my head lol I rocked the bald head my husband has a shaved head we just went twinsy. With that said 90% of people rocked the wig they needed it for there confidence I say do whatever makes you comfortable. With that said our skin is an organ so we need to nourish it. I do a daily routine of olive oil, coconut oil, castor oil, argan oil all over my body and scalp, feet every crevice my a$$, my neck my hair is super thick soft and my skin is tight and nourished i apply and let it soak in 30 minutes to an hour I sit in a chair with shorts and a tank in the living room so i wont get oil on my sofas i warm a towel in the dryer and wrap my hair also. Sounds like a sh*tload of work but I do more natural stuff no lotions, deoderant etc after I had cancer and my skin is flawless. TMI again my apologies Looking Forward to Life
  21. If you're on the two week pre-op liquid diet of protein shakes, that's a lot of protein and zero fiber. My advice is to buy both Miralax and suppositories pre-op. Mix miralax in Day 2 post-op and I needed to use a suppository on day 3 or 4. Since then I've been really regular (TMI) but yes every visit to the toilet is a gift.
  22. Hi wow what a journey. Thanks for the heads up on the belly fat. I didn't have breast cancer I had Soft Tissue Sarcoma in my breast its a rare cancer that attacks my soft tissue. My doc said (and before I say what he said I just want to make clear I love joking around and do not take things personally and love the truth. So my oncologist and I have a very good relationship). my doc said I'm a walking soft tissue and we need to lower my chances of getting cancer again (my fat of course being the soft tissue) When he said that we laughed but because he put it so bluntly and in the manner that I speak he didn't have to convince me I was 100% in I trust him. I did my homework on him before hand and hand picked him so here I am. I found out I had cancer Jan 11, 2017 Radical mastectomy Jan 19, 2017 Emergency surgery hematoma Jan 19, 2017 37 High dose Radiation treatment AIM chemotherapy 4 rounds each round 3 days 10 hours a day (maximum of chemo allowed in a human I'm not allowed to get chemo anymore ) Now I'm just like recovering living my "new" normal I take care of my body more and now its time for the sleeve surgery. I had a goal so I never got depressed even though plenty of family and friends left my life after my diagnose and everything started to get real. I forgive them but this weight loss surgery has me scared because I feel like my fun chubby self will be gone is like who will I be if i already think I'm the sexiest thing alive will I get worse? Sounds like a weird question but I'm so happy with my 4 kids and my gorgeous husband I feel like we had so much change and it shook our foundation when I got sick cause I'm the one that held things together but I'm proud to say My husband, kids and parents did a wonderful job I love and adore and am grateful to them forever. Its like I'm content and now I have to change that is my fear but with this sight I'm changing my fear into excitement and i know i need to increase my chances of living a longer life so I'm all in. Thank you for being all in with me. I feel incredibly supported sometimes its hard to explain to people in my life what I'm going through because they cant put themselves in that situation. Our experiences bring us together I hope to help other people stay positive and not depressed as 95% of people I met in my cancer journey were depressed I was laughing it up and joking and chilling netflix and chemo chilling lol all that. I guess i'm having a dear diary moment and I apologize for the TMI and the inner workings of myself. Looking Forward to life.
  23. Am I the only one?? That thinks a bowel movement during phase I post op is freakin amazing 🤷🏽‍♀️[emoji1440]‍♀️[emoji846]🤣 OMG [emoji50] I’ve never thought I’d miss it sooo much (whew)!! Possible TMI?! But I’m sure I’m not the only one???

Change your mindset fall in love with yourself then God then all else will follow. Good Luck TMI yeah my bad lol
  25. I haven't had any problems with greens, but I should probably add that I haven't really had problems with anything as long as I don't eat too much. I threw up once after breakfast, but I think it was the smells that got me--I was in a coffee shop and went to the restroom and the smell of cleaning supplies really affected me. TMI?
