  1. What an awesome NSV! Keep it up!
  2. I broke 300!! I just weighed myself and 298 it is! I am happy dancing, next goal 250. Although i feel like i look like the Grinch, all gut and little butt because the girls have shrunk more than the belly. I know we loose from the head down basically. Anyway off to work and in a size smaller jean i might add!!! That is my first NSV with the jeans too! What a happy day!

    My very first NSVs!

Congratulations! I love reading about NSV. I am only 8 days post op but pulled a pair of shorts out to walk around the block and they were so big I had to roll them up at the waist! Awesome feeling and I know there is so much more to come! Can't wait!

    My very first NSVs!

I've been super frustrated with the scale for the past 3 weeks because that number hasn't been moving. But I just looked in the mirror and realized for the first time in my life that I have a real, honest-to-god neck!! I HAVE A NECK! It's not just extra chins anymore I feel like a freaking swan...it's silly, but I am off the wall thrilled. Also, you can see that I have a collar bone! I've also gone down 3 pant sizes since December, and consequently can now fit into my University's circa 1900's theatre seats!! I can now support my department without bruising my butt! Bonus. Getting sleeved was the best decision I have ever made.

    January 2013 Post Op

My NSV is that I'm smaller than my husband. Lol. My favorite jeans are huge on me especially in my thighs and legs. I walk without getting winded. I've had a had time with my emotions and I just had to take a step back and look at the positives and not want I perceive to be negative. I've lost 32 lbs. Yay me. I'm one month post op today. I do need to quit feeling sorry for myself and just take it one day at a time. This app and all of you has been just an amazing support family for me and I've incredible thankful for all of you. God Bless

Great idea regarding the NSVs! (what does it stand for?) nice saying versus? lol! Went back to work this week and I keep hearing how great I look, well rested and like I'm glowing. Everyone keeps saying how clear and nice my skin looks. I think some of my dark spots and malasma has cleared up. YEAH!!! Also, dropping a pant size is a major bonus! Yeah for RNY!!! Good luck with the CT scan!

    January 2013 Post Op

Welcome back! So sorry to hear that you were sick and possibly have a hernia. I will keep you in my prayers and hope all goes well tomorrow night. I LOVE the idea of NSV's and really need to throw the scale away myself. I too let the scale dictate my mood for the day and that is just crazy, there is just no point to it. My first NSV would be getting a winter coat on last night that I couldn't wear on Christmas Eve AND it was over a sweater! I was really happy and made me realize that it did not matter what the scale said. I will post more NSV's as they happen. I think I am on the brink of switching to a smaller pair of jeans (yay me!).

    January 2013 Post Op

been a minute since i've posted-i've been sick (i blame my 16yo for the cold, can't blame her for the confusing pain on my lower right side-might be a hernia from surgery, but we'll find that out during a CT scan tomorrow night). quite honestly, i've been super exhausted just about every day for the last week and i'm tired of it, i want my energy back. i've seriously missed catching up with all of you although i do read through a lot of posts through the e-mail feed on my phone. it looks like a lot of us are being plagued by the same things, slow weight loss being the front runner. i decided i'm losing the scale, until i feel like it will have moved significantly...maybe. because i'm sick of letting it dictate my mood for the day. i won't participate in any more weigh ins, i know i've lost weight, inches, i can fit into 5 pairs of jeans i was way too chubby for before surgery, i can wear some XL tops, my hubbys hoodies (that i live in) dwarf me now, and yesterday when i got my monthly massage my massage therapist who didn't know i'd had surgery noticed i'd lost weight-THAT'S good enough for me for right now. i want to feel good about me, and i want that to translate to all of you. i want to be proud of you and your accomplishments too. please feel free to be excited and announce every victory you notice. let's start posting our NSV's, i think it will be helpful to us. for those of you who don't know; an NSV is something positive that's not related to the scale moving. it can be someone giving you a compliment on how you look, noticing your own cheek bones, getting on a bicycle for the 1st time in years, walking a mile, getting your wedding ring back on, passing up a bad food without batting an eye, not having to take an obesity related medication you used to have to take, your hubby fitting his arms all the way around you, etc. the list is endless! i posted some of mine above-my favorite was my compliment from victoria and the fact that i can wear (and zip!) so many pairs of the jeans i used to flow out of! how about you??

    Very first NSV!!!

Oh boy you just made my eyes go all watery!! An awesome NSV!!
  11. general_antiope

    Non Scale Victories (NSVs)!

Let's hear your lap band related good news that DOESN'T involve your scale! There's tons of them out there - Did someone give you an unsolicited compliment? Did a previously negative person come around? Did you have your first positive experience in a dressing room, or get that outfit you've been yearning for? Share them all!
  12. I was a little discouraged this morning because I am only a couple days past 2 weeks post-op and this is like the 4th day in a row that the scale hasn't budged. So, instead of freaking out and giving up (which I probably would have done in the past) I decided to take my measurements. The last time I took my measurements was only about 9 days ago so I didn't expect a huge change but I just wanted to test the "if you're not losing pounds, you're probably losing inches" theory and boy am I glad I did!.... 1 inch here, 2 inches there, 1/2 inch here and there, for a total of 6 inches lost over the past 9 days! I'm not gonna lie, I still desperately wanna see that scale start moving down again but I'm SO excited about my first NSV that I just wanted to share it with my sleeve-friends and to hopefully encourage those who are also going through a "stall" to check your measurements regularly because even though I was sad this morning, now I feel re-energized and re-motivated to keep going! :)

    skirt silly

time to go shopping! You are going to loose your skirts, silly girl! As short as you are, you would look much more attractive in a skirt about to your knee! Great NSV!!!!

    Purging the closet

About the same time I was ready to start purging some items, I received a donation bad in the mail from the Lupus foundation. They request you fill it up and give them a call. They came and picked up 3 big bags of very good condition items. Double my NSV!!

    Very first NSV!!!

I have a 4yr old daughter and for Christmas she had got me a "mommy and me" necklace. i love it so much but was heartbroken when I had to tell her that it wouldnt fit around my neck. She was a little dissappointed but I told her I would put in a special place till I could wear it. Well today getting her ready for pre-school she asked me to wear the necklace she got me. i was nervouse about trying it on but IT FIT!!!! She was so excited that i was wearing it to work and it is the first thing since being banded that I have noticed about myself changing. She was so happy and kept telling me to show everyone and to let them know she got it for her mommy! I was banded 12/3/12 and have lost 36lbs but I havent seen the changes yet so this was a first!

    Weight loss for 300+ sleevers!

I'm 5'6" and was 331 pounds at my highest weight in mid-2012. I was 316 pounds on the day of my surgery (12/20/12). I have been 297 or 298 pounds (depending on the day, aaargh) since 1/18/13. I am doing everything I'm supposed to do, but I can't break this stall. I've also been trying to concentrate on NSVs instead of what the scale says, but I have been feeling very discouraged and depressed for a couple of days. I know I shouldn't compare my weight loss to others' losses, but that's hard to do sometimes. Thanks to everyone who posted their amazing progress! Your posts are inspiring and got me out of the dumps today. I'm sure I'll look back on this month and laugh once I'm six months post-op.

Thrilled and bummed all in one night

What an amazing NSV!!! You are rocking your sleeve!

    Over this stall

I was sleeved the same day as you. I too have been on a 3.5 week stall. The scale finally moved yesterday, but it was a small move. It's frustrating, but I'm going to keep doing what I have been doing, because I know the scale will eventually move. A NSV is that I lost 16.75 inches so far.
