Pain/Discomfort/Recovery: C-Section vs. Gastric Sleeve?
Sharon1964 replied to AmyQwith2's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would say about the same, but easier to get out of bed with the sleeve on the first day. Now mind you, TMI WARNING, I insisted on having sex with my husband ten days after my c-section. So that might give you a hint on how fast I recover. -
Ladies : Did any of had your period during surgery?
gabysmum replied to gabysmum's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I hope your surgery when well and you are feeling good! As for the mesh underwear and pad, at least its something. I'm with you about feeling embarrassed! I had 2 kids via csection and believe me, I cringed everytime they wanted to clean me up (tmi) down there...My best wishes for a speedy recovery and a healthy journey! Girl!? You drank 4 freaking bottles of that crap??? I drank the 1 today and about vomited it all up. Ugh...it burned my throat going in, and we all know what it's burning coming back out! TMI ALERT........I haven't gone nearly as much as I thought I would be?! Will it keep going on for hours? It's been 4 1/2 hours since I took it and I've gone like 4-5 times. I thought it would be worse than this. Hmmmm.

'I will be a different person. The one I used to be'. I really like that. I haven't been overweight all my life. I was in fact underweight growing up. It started creeping up on me about 10 or so years ago. I have asthma, and every time they put me on Prednisone I would gain 20 pounds. And I was on Prednisone a lot. Then there are the 2 hysterectomies. Yes I said 2! The first one was 7 years ago. They only removed my uterus and cervix. I was under 40 and they didn't want to force me into menopause. Well, 3 years later, they found an ovarian cyst the size of a football. So, I had my 2nd hysterectomy to remove the cyst and everything else. My doctor said 'I guess we should have removed everything the last time'. Really??? I was not happy. Well, next thing I knew I was 270 pounds. Sad, depressed, frustrated. I want the old me back. Sorry for the long and TMI post. 18 more days and I will be closer to that healthy and skinny person that is under this fat suit!

I'm having real problems with nausea today. I can't stomach another protein pudding or shake. Last night I tried some clear soup and it went down fine. I've been using myfitnesspal to keep track of my water and protein. I've only been able to get 8-25 grams of protein per day, and around 1 liter maybe of water and drink (33 o). I'm supposed to aim for 1.5 l of water (50 oz). I can tell by the color of my urine (hope that's not TMI) that I'm dehydrated, as it's more orange than yellow. It's just so hard to get more down with constant nausea. Do you have any tips or tricks for getting more fluids and protein?

Ew is right. I wanted restriction, but not restriction made from snot. I know TMI.

OK men, FYI, this is a TMI post. PJTP-Why on earth should a sport bra make you look fatter?!?!?! Ok, so I bought new sports bras yesterday (not that I am actively doing any sports). I wear them most times because a) they are easier to deal with and they control the floppy girls better for work than my other bras (I'm sure it has to do with the fact that I haven't bought new bras since weight loss). Ok, back to the story. I bought new bras yesterday. I can only assume this is how they are supposed to fit, but they squeeze the girls in to where they almost meet my belly! That is so not sexy!

Ha ha, funny....Not!!! Oh my goodness, that is too funny. How old are they? Did you get those gifts for him? Well, then you need to be a facebooker!! Donna, I am so relieved to hear everything is ok with your band. Are you feeling better now? That is awesome. I work for a child-serving agency and we have a mentoring program. It is amazing the positive difference a good mentor can make in the life of a child. Uh-oh, what happened?? Donna, I am a step-grandma too. I have two children from my first marriage and three step-kids from this one. The oldest son has a beautiful baby boy. The middle daughter has three kids, she started when she is 15 and is just now 21. Well, I had my surgery yesterday morning. They didn't have to shave my toes!! I was ok yesterday, but I guess that was because the anesthesia had now worn off yet. I woke up this morning and thought I was going to die. I stood up and immediately became majorly lightheaded and nauseated. I spent about three hours dry-heaving (sorry if TMI) and am now hoping I didn't cause any harm to my band. I think it is ok though. DH had to work today, so he had DD stay home from school to take care of me. She force fed me crackers and made me drink some Gatorade. I am actually feeling better now. But, my foot is absolutely killing me!!! He has me on some pretty good pain medicine, but every time I take it it makes me dizzy again and very sleepy. I can't believe I have to go through this again with the other foot and am definitely not looking forward to it. And, I am not allowed to go back to work until he gives me the approval. My post-op appointment isn't until Monday afternoon. I have strict orders to keep my foot elevated, on ice and to stay off of it as much as possible. So, I am already bored out of my mind. Needless to say, I will be spending a lot of time on the forums and sleeping. Keep me entertained guys! LJM, how are things going with Joshua. I love seeing all the pictures you post of him, he is such a cutie. How does dd like being a big sister?

December 2013 Sleevers Come In!
tami j replied to AtlantaRed's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Wishing everyone a good night, it's sleeting like crazy here in north texas! The pitter patter is keeping me awake! I'm sorry I haven't been on here as much, but keeping up with the daily emails! Glad to hear most are doing well, praying for those struggling with pain and or roller coaster stomachs. Everyday will get better! Good luck to tomorrow's sleevers! Oh and I too loved the TMI warning, greatness! -
Just a question and sorry if it's been covered before or TMI. I had my surgery Friday. I've been on clear liquids since and I can go to full liquids tomorrow. I've been farting but no bowel movement. I'm pretty sure the farting is just getting the extra gas out and I'm good with farting as opposed to burping. Burping seems to hurt a bit. Since I haven't been eating a whole lot I can't imagine having a bowel movement in the near future, but how long did it take you?

Hey guys I’ve been MIA since surgery had a lot going on with having pain the whole month after surgery to going back to work to not doing so well with protein intake and water intake that led me to the hospital 2 weeks ago for dehydration , gastritis and UTI (I know TMI) but guys I am happy regardless of the circumstances that i made this decisions. Learning day by day how to use my tool. Even though I have gone through some stuff I’m happy I made this decision.

This is me too. My bowel motions are now several times a day and quite loose (sorry if tmi 😂) and kind of comes out of nowhere lol. I’m 9 weeks post op. -
So I was sleeved Wednesday. I had a "mass" in my lower right side that was found during all of the sleeve testing and I also had them remove my gall bladder. So my surgery was a bit more complicated and, man oh man, did they ever knock me out. I have 4 laproscopic incisions plus a 5 inch where they had to take the gall bladder out. It was so packed with stones they could not get it out the little holes. I was put under at noon and it was about 11 pm before I knew where I was and who I was. So even as of today I'm a little loopy. Two things I wish I'd have done: Bought an oversized bra. I can't put mine on, too tight and right at the tender area. Since I want to walk outside, it bothers me to just be flopping along. Secondly, I shouldn't have taken 90% of what I took and I didn't take much at all compared to some. I never even hardly opened the bag. Probably a little TMI so if you don't want the gory details, don't read on. Biggest point of the story is that if I had not had terrible post off sickness on Thursday it would not have been a horrible thing. But let me tell you, about the 5th time I had my head over a can (I was dry heaving so hard they got me larger bucket type item so I wouldn't 'spray' -- kind of a power wash type thing. I was starting to wonder if I'd lost my mind in thinking this was a tool to help improve my life. It may surprise you but power dry heaving can shake your resolve. The doc said a lot of it was due to my surgery being much longer than a typical sleeve so don't let it bother you. I think its much easier when just being sleeved. Aside from the nausea issue, my throat was very sore. My voice is still working on coming back. But that, along with the incision pain, are minimal compared to heaving up every drop I was trying to take in. So if the pain of the surgery is holding you back in any way, don't worry about it much. They stopped my pain med Thursday morning and I've taken none since. And each day I can tell it's getting much milder. I also have 2 drains. One small I removed today and one large the doctor will removed next Thursday. So I have cleaned myself, re-bandaged, removed a drain. My next step is to give myself a shot. If I can do that, I'm over the hump and it will just be a matter of healing. I feel like such a big girl! Oh, and he said was liver was great.

Any April Surgery Dates?
bsumner replied to rokse23's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I definitely think moving around has helped. I have to drink slowly as well. Except now everything is going right through me (tmi I know). Hope you are doing well -
Sorry to hear you are having issues with constipation. i too had it pretty bad and remember those days well. I ended up using an enema for relief. The secret to the enema is to (TMI) try and wait to use the bathroom for a few minutes after you have finished the enema. Miralax did nothing for me and since I can't swallow pills the stool softeners were out. I just made sure to use benefiber every day. You will soon learn how much fiber you need to take in to stay regular and once you start to add more fruit and veggies in your diet it will get much better. Hope this helps.

I'm back! Happy July 4th!!! Hope you are all having a great Independence Day! Sorry I haven't updated whilst I was away - wifi was cr*p at the hotel! I've had a great time in Spain - 5 adults and 44 teenagers on a school trip is defo an experience! We spent 26 hours on the bus there and back and a whole lot more travelling around different locations! I can't believe how much time I have spent on that bloody thing! I didn't manage, as predicted, to do any fast days... and I am pretty sure by the bloated feeling I have that I have gained. I will weigh in the morning. I am prepared to see a higher number! I did manage to keep an 'ok' tab on my food choices, but I have to say that there were treats (the kids were loaded with jelly sweeties and it would be rude to say no!) - also some lunch times bread stuff was the only choice, so I ate it! However, when I did have the choice I stuck to Protein first, some veg and salad too. I would prob say the food I ate was 50% good and 50% not so good! I also had a few glasses of wine each evening - not too many - but more than normal ... as you all know, I don't drink in the house or on a regular basis... I do go out with the girls for a few cheeky ciders and that is once in a while. I did however, throughout the day, drink a lot of Water. I am also severally constipated - if I have no movement by tomorrow evening I will take some laxatives as a last measure... I hate it when I get like this! Sorry for TMI! We also did a lot of walking around - and I have to say that 3 years ago I would of been a bag of sweat - this time, no sweating! That is an awesome NSV, especially in the heat of Barcelona! I am not messing around here - damage limitation is in order so I am back to my fast day tomo even though it is Friday! I might even do Sunday this week too... I'll see how I feel. That is the beauty of this diet plan - I get to chose when I fast. I've got a big few weeks coming up - we have the school prom on Thurs - I won't drink cos I always drive but I know there will be an abundance of rubbish food on offer, so I will have to be super vigilant! I also have a works night out on the next day, that will be a big drinking session with plenty of dancing and giggling! The the following week I have another works night out which will also involve a lot of booze! I am gonna have to be ultra organised because I don't want to gain... but I do want a life! I think I will have to be happy with striking a medium over the next few weeks. Then I will have to be really focused as we go on a family holiday around the 9th August and I don't want to go away with extra weight on me. This time though, I might be able to squeeze in a fast day - or an attempt at fasting; perhaps missing a meal? Oh and as a foot note, it is my third year surg-aversary! How quickly has that gone? I need to find some time to post a little thread to recall my experience to date! Hope all of you are ok... great to see things are going well for you all ...

Hello everyone! I am out of surgery and just woke up! I received a mixture of pain medication including fentanyl. I have almost no pain. I am coughing a lot from the tube they inserted. My surgery took 7 hours without prep because they had to do much more than the gastric bypass roux en y. I would say that overall I am ok and that it was more difficult than I initially thought it will be. For those of you still on the liquid diet, please please keep it up. My surgeon said that he could see where the liver was once enlarged, and that he could see the shadow, so that liquid diet I hated so much did something! 😀I did not sleep at all the night before the surgery because of the Miralax. TMI, but going to the bathroom through the whole night and the early morning in the hospital prior to surgery made it horrible. It might not happen to others, but my body reacted that way. Another very important thing, that my husband shared, I was not awaken yet, please tell the nurse to talk to the transport team not to roll you over from the sling they transport you after the surgery into your post op bed. They wanted to do that to me and my husband stopped them. Last but not least and most important of all, I was happy when I opened my eyes! This is the first day of the rest of my life! 😀
