    March 2014 Sleevers

Very strange week. I'm down 8 lbs since the previous Thursday "thanks" to food poisoning from tasty, but bad seafood the weekend before T-giving. As of Sunday, I'm actually feeling normal but Thanksgiving goodies were not an issue. One great NSV, one of my nieces saw me and "as only a child can" said "Aunt Susie, You look great". That was truly the best part of my holiday. Still sick, but I look and feel SO much better than this time last year. Hope y'all's holidays are going well!!!!

    April 2006 Bandits November Challenge

Ladies..... I have a funny NSV to share with you, it's one that only "we" would appreciate. I was in town earlier today and as usual, traffic was heavy on this main road. As I waited for the light to change further down the street (so that I could cross mid-block) a guy in an SUV stopped traffic to let me cross the street!! Let me tell you, this would never have happened 55 lbs. ago!! I felt pretty darn good as I strutted across the street in my black boot leg jeans, and short black leather jacket! LOL Roberta

    Update And Need Some Advise

yeah 30 pounds that fast is great! but i understand how you say you dont see it but others do. i had a hard time seeing it as well, but when i started seeing it in my clothes falling off, seeing the tendons in my feet and other NSV's it became more real. best wishes on your journey
  4. I need some :help: and hope someone can lend me some advice. Please let me know if you have tried any appetite suppresents and if they work I went to my dr in Jan to start my WL journey. She put me on some diet pills that made me GAIN weight - I think Water weight since I felt majorly bloated after 2 weeks on these. I went back to her after deciding to get banded. She sent me to start doing pre-op testing to make sure there were no medical reasons why I gained weight. During the tests, she thought I had Type II diabetes, which was just borderline and she said would probably fix itself if I lost weight and exercised. She is all for me being banded BUT I am learning patience early young gwasshoper! I set my surgery up for April 21, 2006. Got all my ducks in a row, (or so I thought) and had to move my surgery back to May 5, 2006 due to a financing glitch I found out a few weeks ago about. I got some test results back and my PCP sent me to a urologist last week, he made me put my surgery on hold :think because tests from 2 & 3 years ago showed I have a mass on my right kidney. He's not sure what it is, could be a vessel crossing that was moved due to enlargement or tumor etc, he said he wasn't second guessing anyone until he did more testing. He set it up where on April 21st I am having a specialized CT done, then MRI next week. I go back to him on May 2nd for all the test results and to see where we go from here. I rescheduled my surgery for the 3rd time now, to May 26th, and have a feeling I am going to be one of those who cannot go forward with banding for awhile. I started a lifestyle change plan on March 31st and started exercising 4-5 times weekly on April 2nd along with high Protein, low carb eating. My problem is I STARVE!!!! lol I can eat something, usually not alot though and then be hungry in an hour. I do mean starve, not head hungry - having a major headache, the shakes, nausea and almost passing out starving. I want to take some appetite suppressents but have no clue where to start or what is effective since I haven't dieted or exercised in 3 or 4 years. TY all, I will ask my pcp when I go back and see if she can prescribe something else until I am banded :plane: Anyone know where I can buy Forelli brand clothing, also how true to size does this brand run? the tag says Made in Turkey RN 73960 I'm asking, because I have a pair of cargo shorts that I haven't been able to fit in for 3+ years until this morning and they are a size 20 :clap2: I know I am losing without being banded yet - I havent weighed in almost 2 weeks (had a few slip ups the past week lol) and this is my NSV for the day, ok and the fact I will look human again instead of "cousin it" after visiting my hair dresser today.

    11/3/12 my son and i

The best NSV? My son saying "Momma, I can put my arms all of the way around you now." Do I regret surgery? HECK NO, not with a reaction like that.
  6. Last year my husband had a proceedure done and was not able to get around. Couldn't drive etc. Well I don't drive so my mode of transportation was walking. Last Summer I was 240lbs and could barely make it to the grocery store and back without feeling utterly exhausted to the point of almost wanting to collaps. Today I walked 2 miles and was fine afterwards. Its amazing the difference 64lbs makes! Oh and to reward myself, stopped at Off Broadway Shoes and got two pairs on sale for a total of 40 bucks LOL. I love my sleeve!

    I can't believe it's been a year...

Congrats Jonathan! Okay, I made this new rule, once you hit a Bandiversary, you have to list your top 10 NSV.

    Complications and NSV's

I was sleeved on 10/27/14 No complications to speak of. I was amazed at how well everything went. If I had to pick something it would be 5 days after surgery I tried a shake that did NOT agree with me. Not really a complication but it knocked me down the whole day and I remember how bad I felt. I will be 3 months post op on Monday and the NSV's I have had so far are great!! - I was in a very tight size 28 jean, I am now wearing size 20 skinny jeans and loving it - bought my first pair of tall black boots and have been wearing them with my skinnies and leggings - I still squeal out loud everytime I slide into a booth and there is between 3-5 inches of space - I now have choices in what footwear I will wear each day, instead of just my flip flops - the energy I have is amazing, no more sleeping in till the afternoon time, when I wake up I get up - I rode my bike for the first time since we moved it out here 12 years ago - I can get my wedding rings on normally now, no more having to put lotion on my hands to get them on - my 15 yr old daughter can get her arms all the way around me to hug me - I am looking forward to our vacation in March able to fit in the plane seat with no extender, and decide what rides I want to go on, not just what ones will I fit on These are just a few that I can think of right now. I cannot imagine what my list will look like as I lose more weight. I know that I am at a weight right now that a lot of people start their journey at, but my starting weight was 314.8 with my highest ever being 324. Good luck with your journey marbelvsg, follow your docs orders, get your Protein in and drink your liquids and you will do o great!!
  9. Hiiii My surgery was March 19 i am doing much better everyday. Haven't gone back to work yet Dying of boredom and happy i have no appetite or else i'd be in the fridge every 5 minutes. I am 20 lbs down and I want to weight myself everyday but i am trying to just do it every Tuesday since my surgery date was on a Tuesday. I am on Puree and it is frustrating and yucky so i'm sticking to soups. I honestly thought it would be a breeze but its more of a challenge. I can not wait to start exercising. I made a list of goals and NSV and rewards to help make time pass. Overall I'm just trying to be patient.

    Any October Bandsters!??!?!

Go Julie Ann!!! I can't believe we're headed to our bandiversary. I'm losing soooooo slowly (but then I always did). I'm seeing Dr. D Sept 10 - I think I need a fill this time. It's been since March! I still PB once in a while, but I notice that I can eat more (than I should). I'm inching towards my goal. I'd love to be in the 180's by October 24. I'm getting lots of NSV's tho - people I haven't seen complement me all the time. I was just at a family reunion and my cousin asked me if I'd gotten taller!!! I actually shrunk 3/4 of an inch because I'm getting older. Dang! that just means more weight to lose!

Have you lost your "Wild Thang" urges?

I hadnt felt like doing anything... i beleive becasue my body is in weird shapes that I dont like, I was used to how it was before.. Now its all distorted and I feel uncomfortable.. BUt I went out this weekend and I had my first ever non assisted orgasm.. So, I guess that could be called a NSV..

    Change in attitude towards appearance?

I have bought a few new clothes, makeup, shoes..oh yeah shoes. Heels too. I never liked them because of feeling off balance. My hair has not changed but I always did bleach my hair since I was 18. I put makeup on most every day. I don't work so that is different for me. I wear my (casual) heels around the house to do housework in. No kidding! I feel so good about myself that I look in the mirrors now with pride and real joy. I have really lost enough weight that my underwear is smaller and bras are too. (Larger cup but smaller circumference.) I feel more like participating in life to every extent possible. I am 58 Yo and feel like I have taken off 20 years at least. (Maybe 30) I am so very happy with my band. NSV are getting so numerous that the scale is less important to me than the other victories.

    Feb 2007 Bandsters: April Challenge

Heh, heh, heh...somehow I knew nobody'd go for that! :eyebrows: :) :biggrin1: :) :eyebrows: I was really just kidding, but I like your idea of making an thrid row to keep track for myself of how many extra sessions I can get in. A visual reminder of my efforts would be nice, since I've got no NSVs to speak of and the scale hasn't moved in a week now! :straight I really want to do the Water & exercise right -in additon to the food- to get things going again!!

    NSV & update

I'll start with the update. I'm currently 389, which is 70lbs GONE FOREVER from my highest weight at the end of 2012. It's so exciting... it somehow seems less daunting to lose the weight since I got out of the 400s. I'm so happy and grateful for my progress so far! My weight loss isn't really showing IMO, and by that, I mean I don't think others are noticing it. I certainly am, but all my usual clothes still fit, there are some that are bigger than others, but some that were snug before and now just fit like they are supposed to. I can see that the clothes are looser, though - just not quite enough that it's time to start looking for smaller clothes. That will come soon enough, and I'm not looking forward to it! I don't have many clothes in smaller sizes, so that means I'm gonna have to start shopping! My NSV is: I HAVE BONES, Y'ALL. Bones in my hands! Collarbones! Bones in my feet! I saw my reflection when I was walking to the parking garage at work today, and I happened to see my bones in my feet as I was walking. I was shocked! It's been so long since I saw those bones!! Soon enough I'LL HAVE ANKLES! *gasp* As I write this, I have a ring on my finger that I used to wear as a left hand pinky ring and it's now fitting on my right hand ring finger. Whaaaat??? I can't remember what size this ring is, but I think it's a size 7 - I used to wear a 9 on my right hand ring finger (well 8 1/2 would probably fit, but 9 just felt better). I can see the change in my body and I know that with all this fat sliding off in those places that it's just a matter of time before it starts coming off my belly/hip/thighs. I'm starting to feel like a lady again, and it's wonderful!

    **May 31st**

Hello fellow May 31st sleevers! How is everyone doing? How much have you lost? How about NSV's? Any foods you aren't tolerating or any issues? Hope to hear from everyone!!!
  18. I am so so so happy and blessed to report that my feet do not hurt anymore at all! I had such bad edema and plantar facitis, I was seeing a physical therapist 2 days a week for the pain! Pain is GONE! 21lbs down, and I am feeling very good about my surgery! I have a slight feeling that this is going to be the very best investment I have ever made in myself!

    I am scheduled for May

I had to share a couple of NSVs: 1. Sitting in restaurant booths comfortably for the first time in a very long time. 2. Wearing jeans I bought too small 2 years ago and have never worn. 3. I wear a red plastic bracelet from the American Heart Association in memory of my father... it sat up around my wrist before surgery. Now it sits about 3" down my arm. 4. I am not constantly adjusting my shirts when I sit or stand to make sure they fall right over my body. 5. My choker necklaces no longer choke me. And that's after only 36 lbs!! =) I can't wait to see what happens next!
  21. Finally! Hey, maybe it's only one pound, but at last I weigh less than my husband.....(who is tall and slender). Plus I had three other big NSV's this past week!!!!! Posted those and some photos on my Sunday blog. www.queenofcrop.com Wishing everyone a great Sunday.....hey, isn't tonight Daylight Savings Time? I'm in Hawaii so we don't change anything, but for those who do.......I think you lose an hour.... www.queenofcrop.com A Year in Life of WLS

    Nsv -- Oh Boy!!!

Way to go Penni. You must be on cloud nine. I would have bought every color also. That is a great NSV. So...when is your next shopping trip for clothes.
  23. Hi all! I was banded 4/20/10. 4 wks post op tomorrow. I'm trying different foods. Still haven't tried bread or rice. So far everything has gone down well. However, I'm having trouble with the not drinking with meals and being hungry about 2 hrs after eating. My first fill is 6/7 when I return from vacation. I've lost about 27 lbs since my first dr. appt on 2/2. I'm down a shirt size and my pants are looser so the NSV are a nice side effect! I'm glad to see all the posts here so I know I'm not the only one wondering if all this is "normal". Still burping a lot but no pain around the port area and all systems seem to be working ok! Thanks for starting the thread. I'd like to keep in touch.
  24. I'm doing well. My energy is back and even a bit of the endurance, which really took a hit immediately post-op. The scale continues to move down, but this week was only 1/2 lb...had to fight the irrational panic that this is a failure too...so, I have to accept the NSV of wearing a dress, with room to spare, to a party yesterday that I couldn't fit into for a wedding the week before surgery. When I got home a reflected on the party, I was amazed that food was not the primary focus for me, and that I enjoyed myself tremendously. I've started back at Curves, slow..but doing my routine. Still not eating more than 1/3 at any time..not really interested in food, so no fill scheduled yet. Journaling a lot and trying to deal with some of the emotional issues including friends who are clearly not dealing well with my changes. I've been reading Confessions of a Former Fat Girl...good read, lots of food for thought. Still settling into the new eating patterns, finding something that will work is a bit tricky as I go out for lunch as part of my professional comittments, but it just keeps getting easier to make the right choices.
