  1. Hi there well the fill must have worked because i losted 3 pounds so i have now losted 37 pounds!!!! So Excited!!!!!Hopefully i can do it again next week !!!!

  2. Hey! No it wasn't. I got all excited because I lost 3 lbs in a week and then 2 lbs the next week but I only gained 1 lb and I'm back on track this week looking to lose that lb plus the next 2. So I'm down 4 lbs from my last fill on the 25th of April so I'm on track. My average is 2 lbs a week. How's the liquid diet coming along? Just think 1 more week! What hospital is your surgeon doing it in? I had to go down to Harper University Hospital (part of the DMC complex) in Detroit.

  3. Thats a good one!!!You know I have never thought about it but I haven't crossed my legs since I got down to about 205 that was about 3 years ago. I try it now and again but I must say mission impossible...lol.. As I get this weight down I will hit you back and let you know how its coming.

  4. Hi Anya. I totally understand. I have a little restriction. It is getting very hard to eat solid food too early in the morning. I can't eat until I am up for atleast 2 hours and at work already. I was supposed to go in today to get my second fill, but like you said, he is out of the office for a few weeks. So.. I see the nurse pract. this Thursday. I have not lost any weight from the first fill, but I have not gained either. I am pretty sick right now though. My allergies have turned into a full blown upper respiratory infection. I am bound to lose a few pounds from this just because food is NOT appetizing at all. I can't taste anything!!! I am sorry you are having a hard time. Just do your best but don't be too hard on yourself. The weight loss and restriction will all come in due time. Good luck. Take Care.

  5. Well doctors baptista and cwyes do lap band and the realize band. I prefer the lap band but I think it's just because it has been around longer. Like I said I LOVE that they give you the choice. The pre-op diet is basically the same as the adkins diet and you can only have 3 meals a day... zero snacking. Then saturday and sunday before surgery you have to go on a clear liquid diet but you will be on it post op to... so guess it makes sense to accept it before hand. The show you pictures and educate you on what happens if you don't follow the pre-op diet, give you their cell phone numbers and help you through the whole process. As of yesterday I am down 8 lbs since my last visit which was on 4/29... I am so excited to be on my way! :) So never fail you can have everything you want without the novis center. You can have the realize band with them :) Let me know if you have any more questions. :)

  6. As for exercise, I've been doing walking but it tires me out. Made the hubby take me to the mall to walk yesterday. I don't have to be back to work until next Monday since Dr. Chua's office said to stay off at least a week and I don't have my appoinment until Thursday (was originally scheduled on Friday). Luckily I have STD to cover.

  7. i just want you to know...that i am starting to get hungry and i have the rest of the week to continue being on liquids. i live by myself, so i understand what you're going thru. i wanna lay down so bad but it kills me to sit up...so the majority of the time i just sit up. but the pain is going away, its not as bad as it was...thank god...but every now and again i feel pressure where that port is...but it goes away quickly.

  8. Hi Dionne!

21 lbs.! Hooray for you! That is awesome! I go today for my second fill (hopefully). It's been 5 weeks and I have lost an average of 1 lb. a week, so I hope they give me a bit more. **Fingers crossed** I have had a few episodes with things getting stuck too and F. Fries on the the top of the list! Darn it! I use the chewable vitamins now, tried the liquid and couldn't stomach it! Blahhhh! 16's getting loosier on me too! So excited! You are right, the confidence boost is amazing! I am loving it! Can't wait to see what happens next! Here's to success girl!! : )~

  9. I honestly do not stick to calorie intake. I do however watch my carb intake. But not so much calorie. I eat tofu at least 4 times a week. (I know I hear you all already ewh.... tofu. don't knock it till you try it the right way). I make stir fry dishes using tofu and if we are having chinese at work I order tofu. I love the maximum protein from GNC. However it's expensive. Vitamin shop is cheaper and you can buy any protein, take it home, try it, and if you don't like it you can return it. I also recommend greek yogurt. It is called Fage. It kinda tastes like a sour, sour cream but it has like 18grms of protein in 1cp. I add one sweet and low to it. I have a 4cc band and I am at at least 3.7. I get fills and unfills often, so I can no where my optimal restriction is. I have realized it changes with weight loss.

  10. Hi AN~ (ok?)

For me it was pretty painful... not totally unbearable, but enough to get the pain medication every 3-4 hours.

I was up walking about 3 hours post-op. Walking really helps.. It's true! I was banded Friday 5-8-09 and I feel much better but still some pain in my lower abdominal area (can you say gas??) and turning in bed it a bitch. I had to take some liquid vicodin this AM for the 1st. time. I went right back to sleep on my port side... So we shall see how the next few days go.. I'm very excited. Take care.

    P.S. Are you banded yet?

  11. you look awesome..your legs look sooo tiny..i have 2 weeks to go. May 25th..im soo friggin excited..im ready this time..i am..then i can put my entire wardrobe (designer, at that) on ebay..lol

  14. Hi Shelly, I read your comment to Gregnir and I just wanted to give a bit of support to you! This band will work if you let it and you really have to listen to it and get your fills or really they are called adjustments on a regular basis. I have a great Doctor who allows me to be the judge of when I need a fill. If I find that I am starting to eat more then my cup of food at eating time then I call and get the adjustment that I need. I have only been banded for 6 weeks and I have now had two adjustments. It sometimes takes 6-8 adjustments before you get to where to are loosing regularly. I hope that you will not give up and that you will get back to having the LB help you! Good Luck! Cheryl

  15. Had a bit of a trying week. I work in Elections and Tuesday was school elections and they brought in all this not so good for you food. So of course I had to have some. Although I did not do as bad as I would have in the past and I think the scale will show that when I weigh myself tomorrow. If I gained a pound this week oh well I won't fret because I know it'll come off next week.

That's alot of weight you've lost so far. How awesome is that. Your liquid diet will be easier. By next week you won't be wanting to kill people and being around food will be easier for you. You will see that weight dropping off you and it will keep you focused on your goal!

  16. Hi there, I just want to say that you are my new inspiration! You and I started at the same weight, well a one pound difference, and you've reaffirmed the fact to me that this is all worth it. I'm being banded in less than 2 weeks, and all I can say is thank you so much for posting your photos and everything, because I was truly inspired! Congrats to you!

  17. So I have my egd tomorrow...im excited but nervous its one step closer to my surgery day...i will start liquads in a couple weeks..did you always feel hungary during that?

  18. My fill went fine I had no pain I was shock. Lost 2 more pounds will continue to boost up my walking from 1 mile to 2 mile 4 days a week. Write back when you get a chance.

  19. Hmm..I would be bummed too! BUT let's look at it this way. You lost. Even though it was just a pound. Are you measuring yourself? maybe you lost inches and not pounds. Also, maybe your body just needs MORE calories to lose weight. I read on here all of the time that if you go too low, your body holds on. I read a good article on the home page about weight loss plateus, if you cant find it I posted in on my blog last week I think. Dont give up! You will get there! Drink your water, get your protein, move....it has to happen.

  20. Im in need of some cheering up i only lost one pound since my fill and it is very dishearting as part of that week i was on liquids!!!! My body must just hate me right now...LOL Thanks for listening just having my own pitty party!haha

  21. Hello babydoll1, things are going good. I went to my 2 week check up on the 5th. I have my first fill next month on the 9th. I started my soft foods on that day also for four days. So on Mothers Day I can have reg. foods. My doctor said to eat slow and to take small bites. How is the weight loss going for you?

  22. K-I"m so glad you had a good meet today. I liked them all. I get to do a sleep study also, it was one of the things not required, but Anne thought it would be beneficial for me, so I'll do it. I don't have a firm date, but I'm gunning for June 22nd. I have some vacation travel in June and this will work out well for me. If we don't meet up sooner, I'll see you at the June support group. have a great rest of the week and I'll be in touch. Kathi

  23. Hello makana, i too have had my band 3 years and i ws 96kg at the time and got down to 72kg at my lowest. i have since put on inthe past 21 months or so and are back to 85kg, and i feel like a failer big time. i do feel that i have just slipped back into my old patten and eat allt he time. my choise of food is wrong and i have to get myself out of this old habit. - intersting as i have only just started writing on this site, actually this would be my 3rd time, i have been just reading other peoples questions. yet tonight i felt i would reply to you, so i guess i too have to find that ( i feel good about myself ) again and get back on track. :) Happy days to you :)

  24. helloooo ;) I had my second fill yesterday and would you believe despite my insistance the Dr only gave me 1cc! That wasn't even close to enough. All up i now have 3'1/2cc. So i went home and had a yogurt with ease and then i had a normal dinner. Still no restriction.... ho hum. I have only lost 26lbs :( And i tried to explain to the Dr i know what restriction feels like because i had it for 2 weeks after my op. So now i have to wait another two weeks to get another 1 cc. To me it just feels like it is holding up my weight loss going sooo slow in fills. I'm guessing you will have noticed a lot of restriction considering you were feeling some b4 your first fill. I am worried i will never feel restriction.

Congrats on ur great weight loss... you go girl, your a shining example of how this band can work and doing every thing right.

    luv Trace.xx
