A few NSV's to share.....just a little inspiration. :)
It's all new replied to SML1997's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Hot hot hot! You are looking good! And those NSV's - the best part. I love fitting comfortably into an airplane seat - it feels like a miracle every time. Congrats on all of your successes, and how great to see such change in 5 months! -

Awesome job & thanks for the honesty......I had a NSV recently. I sat in my neighbors hottub & I totally questioned if they got a new one, it looked like the old one but I was deeper in the water, the custom seats were bigger than me instead of completely not fitting my bumm! I was blown away, of course it was the same hottub -

Hello Everyone, I haven't posted here in a while, work has just been crazy lately. Anyhow.... I recently came back from a business trip/vacation and I have several NSVs that I would like to share just as an encouragement to anyone still thinking about getting sleeved. Last year, I shared on here I had a couple terrible experience flying to Milwaukee and Jamaica. Just being a big guy, I was never comfortable riding a plane, asking for a seat belt extender, not being able to place the tray table down, etc. Well...that certainly has changed. A few NSVs... I was able to fit comfortably into my airplane seat. (And I noticed a difference in the people I sat by. No one gave me that...."Oh my... don't sit by me" look that you get as a big person walking down the aisle. I not only didn't need to ask for a seat belt extender, but I was able to place the tray table all the way down, and had a lot of slack left over from the seat belt. (I didn't show it on the outside, but on the inside.... I know I shed some tears. I spent the whole flight reflecting on the terrible experiences I've had in the past and how blessed I was to have this opportunity.) At my conference, there were festivities during the night with live music and dancing....I couldn't believe the amount of offers I had to dance. It was unbelieveable... I had great time.... and I didn't feel like the fat guy on the outside of the "in crowd." After my business conference in Orlando last week, I stayed for few days and visited the Disney and Universal theme parks. A huge NSV for me is that I fit on every single ride that I went on. Even the ones I would never think I could fit onto.... I FIT. Finally, I saw several co-workers that I haven't seen in a while at the conference... and I received so many compliments. It was awesome! Well.... I'm sure I could think of some more... but these are what comes to mind right away. I still have a ways to go...but the sleeve has definitely given me a fighting chance at being happy and healthy for the remainder of my life. A couple pics below. *Downtown Miami - 2/21/2013 - Down 80 LBS - 5 Months Post Op *Pre-Op in July of 2012 *NSV Picture - Airplane Flight - Tray Table Down, Magazine & juice, and Seat Belt Room Still Left -
I don't post many questions here because I am (in my own mind) a band expert, but today I had an experience I can't quite figure out, so maybe y'all can help me with it. Also: an NSV is a non-scale victory - a weight loss benefit unrelated to the numbers on the scale. This morning I drove to a liquor store up in KY (this TN county and all the surrounding ones are dry, so KY is the nearest place to buy booze) to buy 100-proof vodka so my husband can make a cordial he calls “stumpblower” out of the pulp he extracted from last year’s blackberries. At the liquor store I had to ask one of the guys working there for help finding the 100-proof vodka. He was maybe in his late 30’s, pleasant and helpful. After I picked out the vodka (I chose the cheapest because my husband's past efforts at making stuff like cider and fruit cordial have not worked out well enough to justify something like Absolut), we walked up to the counter. I gave him cash and instead of just handing me the change, he pressed into my palm and kind of squeezed my hand. I’m not sure if that was an NSV because he was attracted to/flirting with me (in which case he must prefer older women, because I'm almost 60), or just weird. Years ago I read somewhere that touching a customer’s hand during a transaction like that is an effective way to make a personal connection to them, thereby building customer loyalty. I don’t know if I believe that. I don't think it's something a Yankee would do (but I haven't lived in the northeast for 14 years), but that’s the first time it’s happened to me here in the south. I very rarely touch customers at the JCPenney store where I work unless I’m doing a bra fit, and then I tell the customer in advance what I’m going to do so she doesn’t jump a mile when I touch her. I love to hug my old lady customers but even then I always ask for permission, like saying, “Is it OK if I give you a hug?” What would you think if something like that happened to you? Good, bad, indifferent? Thoughts? Opinions?

I'M IN ONELANDER, YEAH!!!!!!! 199 LBS this am. I want to thank my LBT family. A lot of you have been here for me from my very first day. You taught me, you inspired me and you support me through thick and thin. Thank you, doesn't seem to be enough, but it's all I have, my undying gratitude!

Today I put my underwear backwards and have been walking around all day and not even realized it till my third time peeing this afternoon I looked down and saw the writing inside the underwear was on the wrong side of my body. When I was 270 lbs and wore a size 11 underwear there was no way I was pulling up my pants and walking around all day like that because my legs would have been cut off..my butt would never have been covered...and the back would have been so much larger then the front...Not today! Just thought I'd share!

HI everyone- weekend was kind of a bummer. Was going to a zumba party but DH gave me some grief Thursday night about it, so I didn't bring my clothes. Then he said, "go ahead and go," so I arranged with dd to bring the little kids and my clothes so I could go- and she totally forgot my clothes. So that was a bust. Didn't eat horribly- and no ice cream- but didn't log or really keep too much track. But today I will! I also didn't sleep well at all and woke up with a headache. Grrrr. Oh well. Oh, and DH was going to take the kids to the pool, but they had to come home because a baby pooped in the pool, LOL. Good news on the DH front- the ultrasound came back fine, no issues at all with pancreas, liver, etc. So you'd think that was good news, right? What does DH say? "Nope, it's all in my bowels, I told you that." Sigh. Not only is the glass half empty, but it's cracked and somebody spit in it. Nicole- the light therapy may just be the ticket. Nothing too long, though Chrissy- yay for zumba!!! Good for you, and what a nice NSV to have the instructor not recognize you! And no knee pain, that is great. I too eat more calories and am hungrier sooner- but honestly, for me, some of it are the sliders I'm eating because real food can be too slow to eat or the risk of stuck is too great. So that's my challenge, to eat real food! Ready- I hope the new fill is good- so your slip is fixed, yes? That's good news!! Now you can be back on track, good for you! Ladybandido- thanks for the prayers! Heaven knows we need them, LOL. February is a tough month, my BIL has SAD, it can hit him hard. Have you every heard of a lightbox? It gives full spectrum light and can really help. And it's not easy being sick on top of it all, of course!! Sue- sounds to me like you did well, at least under calories, so good for you! And manning a bake sale table, well, that just sounds hard!! WHen things like that tempt me I remind myself that they won't taste as good as when I make them, so why waste the calories on something yucky...LOL... Well, off to put out fires at work, grrr. Everyone have a great day! Nicki

kll724 replied to goalseeker's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Its fun, isn't i!!NSv's are the best! -
We were at my mother in laws this weekend and she babysat the kids so my hubby and sister in law and I could walk around the little shops downtown. We went into a little boutique that has some really cute clothes. They had nothing over size L. I was able to fit into almost everything AND I walked away with five adorable tops! I haven't shopped in a store like that in a decade. Oh boy... look out here i come :-)

I'm sure y'all will think I'm nuts but I'm just so excited. I love wearing boots. Cowboy boots, knee high boots etc. My ENTIRE life my boots have always been right around my ankles and my calves. I never have had that extra space around top. Well tonight that's of the past. I put on a pair of knee high winter boots and I had extra space. They weren't tight... In fact they were almost too big!!!! A month ago I had to leave the tops of this exact pair unzipped a little because they were so tight!! I can't wait for more victories!!!

I got to the gym yesterday and...for the first time since summer...i went to zumba! I made it through the whole class AND no knee pain this time! Bonus...the instructor didn't recognize me at first. I forgot to weigh in while I was there...but I'm good with the NSVs. went thru some old food diaries. When I was losing I was able to go on less than 1000 calories a day. Now it seems like I can't stay below 1300...and I snack more. I snack on good protein stuff bit I still snack. I wasn't going that months ago. My protein shakes dont hold over as long either. Might ask for a small fill on Tuesday.

AmyLovingMyLife -thank you sooooo much. You will do great. Just remember to pace yourself. It's not a race. The NSV far outweigh the physical (but it is cool looking hot too!) lolll. Wishing you all the best!!! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Blessed! HW 324. consult weight 313. weight as of 2/12/13 233. Goal 213. surgery date oct 2012 -
I went to my LB support group last night and someone shared what a friend who had WLS had done. He mounted a whiteboard in his garage and kept a list of all of his victories (NSV and SV), of all the goals that he had accomplished on that board where he could see it every time he got in or out of his car. I think I may try and come up with something similar. Thanks for all your kind words.

Belly not touching steering wheel
Alamoloser replied to selbradey's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Great job, that's truly a NSV for most people. I also hate the limp chairs that seem as if there made out of old driftewood that some restaurants use. I'm always afraid its just gonna shatter underneath me but not anymore! -
