    I smell funny.

I haven't seen this addressed, but maybe I've overlooked it. Ever since my surgery last week, I've noticed an odor. Let me be specific, and sorry if it's TMI, but when I sit down on the toilet, there is a smell wafting from me that I've never smelled before. I'm showering and cleaning all parts of me, so it's not from poor hygiene. Did anyone else experience this?

    I dont understand...

I can't eat 98% of food. Like you said, 3 weeks ago some things were ok, now if I eat them they totally make me nauseaus or I don't like the taste. I have NO idea what's going on....pretty irritated. If I do find a food i like ok, within 90 minutes I'll have the runs (sorry-tmi) so I'm not sure how I'm supposed to maintain any semblance of nutrition

  6. Hey everyone, Most of you know about my saga - of the either never fixed slipped band or the twice slipped band. I have an appt on Aug 6th - I figured it wasn't an emergency. Everynite I take 3 different reflux meds and sleep propped up on 3 pillows just to get some sleep. A couple times a week, I cough up a mouthful of stomach acid, run and spit it in the bathroom sink. Last nite, I slept pretty well till 4:30 am. I was awakened by a mouthful of acid when I coughed. Ran into the bathroom and spit it in the sink. It was then followed by a good 2 minutes of vomiting acid (brown liquid that burns). Ok, here's the TMI part - if you're squeamish you might not want to continue. I vomited up a whole black bean. Not too weird, if I'd actually had a black bean in the last day or so. Had black Beans for dinner 4 nites ago. Not only was it weird to see a whole one in there (thought I was good at chewing my food), but also that I'd eaten them 4 nites ago (Monday nite). Last nite was probably the worst stomach acid I've had thus far. Brushed my teeth and went back to bed. Actually forgot about it today till a little while ago, when I told my husband what happened. He thinks I should call my dr's office. It's now a Friday nite and there's no one in the office on the weekend. It's not truly an emergency (at least I don't think). What do you guys think about finding food in my stomach from 4 nites ago? Shouldn't that have been passed by now? I remember taking a nutrition class in college and learning you digest your food in 24 hrs. Should I be concerned? Thanks! Marci PS: I'll try not to bother you guys about my stories of acid reflux for a while!

    "Green" Day Challenge

any new updates? any one lost any more weight during this challenge yet? i'm once again at another lil plateau, but, its also my TOM (hope thats not TMI), but i'm HOPING that is the reason my weight has been at such a stand still.....yea that and plus... Do GREEN M&M's count as "going green"?!! LOL...sorry, i had a sweet tooth attack!!! i couldn't resist, like i said, TOM! xoxo, Christie
  8. I had surgery on Tuesday, July 7, and I'm a teacher, so luckily, I'm off for the summer. However, I'm in graduate school, and I had to give a presentation on Saturday. I made it to class fine, but by 1:00 I was DONE! I had to leave early (classes are from 8-3), and when I got home, I crashed! After I woke up, I had my first BM since the night after surgery, and I've felt much better since that. So, my point to this TMI is that if you are functioning normally otherwise, you will probably be okay. If I had to go back to class today, I'm sure I could make it the entire time. Each person is different though, so just listen to your body and don't be harder on yourself than you have to be.

    Popcorn friend or foe?

I loves me some popcorn, and will treat myself to a greasy bag of it when I go to the movies (sans the "butter"). I don't go to the movies very often, so I feel ok about it. As a TMI aside, it does seen to upset my stomach a little. I always attributed it to the fact that it's a pretty radical departure from my usual protein-rich diet.
  10. So I am a little more than 2 weeks post op on pureed food phase and today I just don't feel good. I had my drain removed a week postop and I've been feeling pain on that side. If I sit too long it hurts, and it's uncomfortable. Yesterday I tried pureed chicken again, and my pouch was not happy. I am not throwing up, but just gagging over the toilet while nothing comes out (TMI). I was nauseous again this morning and now a little better. I have been sipping on some crystal light. I just feel right now so horrible. I am overwhelmed with emotions, and with this pain on my side and I feel like it's neverending. Please pass some words of encouragement, thank you.

    Helpppppp.......

@@laguerr13 It is amazing how everyone's surgery program is different. After my surgery I was told I could have fruit juice (Apple Juice and Cranberry) they even gave it to me in the hospital however, I had to dilute it with Water.(I am 7 weeks out). So at the time, I would do 2-6oz of juice and dilute the other 1/2 with water and I was fine. I also had juice during my liquid stage diluted with water so that your not consuming so much sugar. Now I am 7 weeks out my NUT said that it was ok to have 4 oz of juice if I wanted before Breakfast but just not consume it everyday. You mentioned "feeling regular" did you know that benefiber has packs made for water bottles? I add crystal light and benefiber to my water daily and it keeps me regular(TMI I know but trying to help). Thanks!

    Poop

Ok. Maybe a weird topic... But after surgery... What has everyone's poop been like. I know it might seem like tmi but like how often do you go, amount of poop color and consistency. Many stomach aches? I can go every day for several days in a row and then I can not go for a few days. My poop is often green but today I had an upset stomach and it was very dark green almost black. I went four times today and it was very liquidy. Since my surgery four months ago my bowel movements have never been like they used to... But I'm just wondering what everyone else is experiencing. I know I have messed up here and there and ate what I shouldn't or ate a bit too much... Could that be it? Thanks in advance.

  17. So, Monday was my 30th wedding anniversary. I'm proud of living and loving through thirty years, and I have a pretty wonderful husband and marriage and two wonderful adult daughters. However, this anniversary really pissed me off and I have to rant a bit. Feedback welcome even though this is a venting sorta rant. I knew he had no idea for a gift when he asked what the 'traditional' gifts were for that marker - so over lunch one day we looked them up; pearls or diamond. Fine - but I don't expect either of those really. Then I suggested since our anniversary falls during my busy work time, that we plan to take a little three day trip somewhere when we can both get away, and he liked that idea--in that way that says 'sure - if you'll plan it I'll go. Okay...fine. Our anniversary rolls around a week later and I haven't heard form him all morning about any plans, so I ask where we might go for dinner to Celebrate, not especially feeling like cooking too on top of super busy week. He really didn't have any suggestions, except to agree when I suggested something - so I sent him a link to a place and he made a reservation. He comes home and while nearly EVERY other year on our anniversary he's brought flowers, even sometimes the ones he proposed with, this time; nada. Then he goes out for a bit walking to the store nearby and comes home with pink tulips. Nice thought--however late it was. Not my fave color, but i like tulips and tell him so. We put them in a vase and head out to dinner. At dinner, I give him a card and a nice gift (new Fitbit which he'd said he'd like someday). He thanks me, and says he didn't really do anything for me but thought maybe later there would be something I'd need for surgery that I could pick out. (Really?! after 30 years of marriage that would be what - a pair of sweatpants?!) I say it's okay - and that really there's nothing I need for surgery. After dinner we took a walk at my nudging, did a hill climb of stairs to see a nice view, headed home and made love (sorry if TMI here). Still nothing to acknowledge the anniversary really. No card, no little thought gift, zip. Now I get that i'm huge (285) and have been for far too long. I get that he's like a 'more active intimate life' but once a week is about all I can handle feeling so big. I get that I let him off the hook some with the idea of a later trip. But hello; I do more than my share of keeping this marriage rolling, I earn half the income, I work more hours, and I still cook most of the meals. Why the h*ll couldn't he have at least written a crummy card or something?! Damn!! I've been thinking another thirty years together was something to look forward to, but this really felt lousy. End of rant. Kate
  18. Well, I survived the dreaded bowel prep kit. I'm not going to sugar coat it.....this stuff SUCKS major bigtime!! I got through 6 of the 8 glasses of the stuff and had to take a break....my tummy was so bloated and distended...very uncomfortable. I waited about 20 minutes and finished the remaining 2 glasses. Not the most fun experience ever. I will say that the stuff sure does what it is supposed to....this may be TMI, but near halfway through, what's in the toilet just looks like you peed.....yup...nothing else was there. I feel kind of wiped out...like you would with a good bout of diarrhea. Stomach is gurgling and rumbling like crazy this morning, but that's really from hunger. But hey!! Lucky me!! When the procedure is over today, I get to have a Protein shake. Yup!!...I'm on my liquid diet. I so wish I could just have a light protein and veggie dinner. That would be awesome! I'll report back later when I get home.
  19. For the first 5-7 days after I got home I had diarrhea which isn't like me. I had to get my husband to give me a suppository in the hospital. Today, my bm is hard and looks like dirt. TMI, but when I wipe it looks like I've wiped the ground. I bought some smooth move tea before surgery and I'm going to have to drink some soon. It helped.
  20. Mandi - Good luck! Sounds like you and I both have similar weight goals and my surgery is Friday - the day after yours! I also lost about 12 pounds pre-op. It can't hurt right? I think just being healthier over the past month makes me feel better. I haven't had a soda pop since late-August and that's been the biggest deal with me. Anyway, I can't help you on the panties question. I haven't worn panties since my sophomore year in college. Oh... TMI... Sorry... Good luck tomorrow!!! I'm thinking of you!!!!!
  21. I went to Wal-Mart today and found the coconut water PROTEIN 2o drinks. While they are delicious, I've noticed that there is a weird. . . slimy texture in my mouth afterwards? TMI (and a little gross) its almost like a loogie. Anyone else experience this?
  22. Orchids&Dragons

pre op urine colour - probably TMI!!!

OMgosh, you have NO IDEA how far these forums can go into TMI territory! You're not even close to the edge!
  23. Haha. This probably an odd question, but maybe not? What happens if you are on your period during the surgery? Do they let you use tampons or free flow (haha) everywhere? I'm probably going to be on mine when I have surgery, so I wanted to know what to expect.
  24. two words..."squatty potty". I was having the same issue, and no medicine worked for me. But the squatty potty was, hell still is wonderful. And it was a non medicinal way. I had even tried a enema, which when you are compacted is not nice. I know I sound like a commercial but I feel your pain, and my longest bout was greater than 21 days. With my special friend, I don't hardly have to struggle or push at all. Oh and this is not TMI, it is a real issue many of us experience. The is a thread you should check out: You and your post op ass. It is hilarious and true Best of luck and release to you. : >
