Leslie... so glad to hear you're feeling a bit better. Please be careful with your thyroid meds!!!! We MISSED you big time here! Welcome back. Mamato... HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!! What a perfect b-day gift from your DH. Cake is a must on b-days, so glad you enjoyed it! Lyn... midlife crisis... no way! Its just you doing what YOU want! Sounds like a self assured woman with a great sense of humor!!! Georgia... 16 minutes sounds like a great goal! Just think, last week you were struggling with 8! WTG Girl! Renewed... are you still on your runner's high! I had a great weekend. My girlfriend came for a visit with her 3 hellion sons! Usually it is very chaotic/crazy/stressful, but this weekend was so much better. When she called on Wed to see if they could come for a visit, I told her I really wasn't up to the stress. She understood. But then my DH convinced me to have them come. So before she arrived, she read them the riot act and they all listened and were really good. You have to imagine this... her sons are 13, 11 and 7. The oldest is 6' 5" tall, has an angry disposition, is moody and disrespectful. The next is 5'10" tall, bounces between being sweet and kind and moody & aggressive. The youngest is 5' 4" tall, is a very sensitive boy, intellectually challenged like my son, but fights with his oldest brother all the time. They eat us out of house and home, don't ever want to do anything but argue and play video games, won't leave their mom alone, and are always pushing for her to buy them things. She is a single mom, still very angry at her X who just remarried, and is not a great mom. She loves them, but is a push over, so they get away with everything. I love my friend dearly, but OMG it is stressful to be the bystander. However, I have to say, she did great this weekend and it was one of the best visits we've had in years. Ok... probably TMI, but wanted to share. I'm going to run on M, W, F this week, then rest on Sat before my race on Sun. I plan to run 5k today and Wed, and then do a shorter run on Fri.

To Barf, Or Not To Barf?... That Is The Question.
ereneeh replied to sabrina140's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
"The foam" is what we call slime. I had to look it up on VSGtalk to make sure nothing was wrong. If you eat too much, which isn't saying much, your stomach doesn't have room for the stomach juices that rush to break down your food. So, it just comes up. You have to eat SLOOOOOW. I take 30-40 min. to eat. But, if you take 1 bite too many, there just isn't room. I just use a cup and spit. I know TMI, but just being real. It will pass after 1/2 hr. Much easier than hurting. To me, it's not the same as throwing up, it is sliming! Hope this helps. -

I just threw up. Not PB’d but the full deal. My stomach rolled and my brussel sprouts and tine bits of turkey reappeared. I actually had 3 stomach rolling episodes. Now I am concerned. Normally if I have an “operator error” I PB, at which time I lean over, open my mouth and a glob of slim reappears with food particles. That is what it is like for me when I PB. This was not a like that at all, I had 3 full heaves. I apologize for being graphic here. What strikes me as odd is the full meal did not come up. My lunch was a turkey burger patty. I had eaten ¼ of the patty. I prepared 5 brussel sprouts and had consumed 2 at most. While eating I was listening to my body, and before this episode, I had stopped eating. Put the remaining lunch I had left in a container. I plan to have liquids the rest of the day. My stomach does not feel sore. I don’t feel the full satisfied feeling either….guess I am baffled as to why I tossed my cookies. TMI – since I eat lunch as my desk I tossed the cookies in a water bottle. Because I am a gross person, I looked the contents over good. Bits! Small tiny bits I tell you! I don’t understand it? It’s not like I was chewing away and swallowed prematurely. Anyone have this sort of episode happen to them? On a side note, I am ill with a sinus cold or virus. Could this have anything to do with it? -

I am 6 days out and I am Starving! These protein shakes and clear liquids are not keeping me full like they were last week. Anyway I have cured my cabin fever I went to Target on Saturday I walked around the store for 30 minutes I came home that night and let out this amazing burp! (I know TMI) It feel so good and my shoulder pain and chest pain was gone instantly. I thought that was it until I woke up Sunday morning and everything came back. That afternoon I went to Sam’s with my mom and sister because I thought if I did the same amount of walking I did Saturday I would have the same results. Too bad that didn’t happened. Yesterday my hunger kicked in. I was drinking protein shakes and broths to try to satisfied my hunger. It was helping at first but around 8pm the hunger came back. I had 2 popsicles while I was watching the St. Louis Blues and LA Kings hockey game last night. I had to stop watching it because I well yelling at the TV. I was yelling so much that I was afraid I was going to rip one of my incisions open! The Blues were playing terrible after the second period. But at least we are still in the playoffs! I think I found a new hobby. I went to Lowes last night and brought an Herb garden for $10. I can grow this indoors and all I have to do is place my garden on my window seal. So I guess I have to wait to see how I do. Other than that I am doing fine just hungry I am thinking about calling my surgeon office and ask them if I can eat something like pudding until I see him on Thursday. It does hurt to ask right? Thanks for reading.

Thanks so much for the support, kids! I'm definitely feeling better, but I'm VERY sore and bruised. I didn't bruise at all with my RNY. Not sure what touched it off. I had a few sips of diet Ocean Spray and I immediately felt a wave of nausea. I went upstairs and lay down for a little bit and within 30 minutes I had to go throw up. Then it was like clockwork. Nothing was coming up, but I couldn't stop. I couldn't keep anything at all down. The nasty stuff you have to drink for a CAT scan was the worst. I was able to hold it down for the scan, but when they wheeled me down for the ultrasound, the motion made me violently ill. That was the closest thing to puking my guts up that I've ever experienced. I know it came from below my pouch because more than a pouch full came up. Sorry if TMI. I was SO ready to go to the ER when they came to get me at 9 am Friday.I usually have nothing but good to say about St. Peter's, but this time was different. They had trouble with my IV so they put it in the crook of my elbow, rendering my arm useless. Four more failed attempts in my wrist left me with a nasty bruise. Then while I was in the OR, they started a new one in the top of my hand, but they left the other one in! It kept poking my bicep and I almost took it out myself. Then, the icing on the cake was that they brought me a dry ass hamburger on a white bread bun for lunch yesterday! SERIOUSLY?! LOL! But as always, the nursing and medical staff were top notch. Now I don't feel like eating much at all. My ribs are still sore from wretching so hard. and now I probably don't have that little string in my incision anymore since they went back into that one! I just can't believe it took me down so fast. My gall bladder was fine in December.

Just a question and sorry if it's been covered before or TMI. I had my surgery Friday. I've been on clear liquids since and I can go to full liquids tomorrow. I've been farting but no bowel movement. I'm pretty sure the farting is just getting the extra gas out and I'm good with farting as opposed to burping. Burping seems to hurt a bit. Since I haven't been eating a whole lot I can't imagine having a bowel movement in the near future, but how long did it take you?

I already 'doctor' up the oatmeal with lots of soy protein powder, which really changes the texture so I wouldn't necessarily notice the Benefiber, but it dissolves so completely when I mix it first into the water...do you notice it in the coffee? Funny you should ask about how often...just last week I was looking at this and started today to add it twice a day. I couldn't even eat raisin bran cereal pre-band without having diarrhea...now I can take a fiber supplement with no problems LOL. I don't 'go' very often, but no diarrhea/constipation either (probably just because we eat so much less), sorry TMI. -
I'm pre-op but I have a history of these irritations. One thing that helps me, but may be a little on the TMI side, is to make sure my underwear is between the folds... so that there is fabric to protect the skin. Sent from my SM-G920W8 using BariatricPal mobile app

Would you do it again?
kacee replied to TerriDoodle's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I'm a self-pay and it was worth every nickel and dime I paid....and THEN SOME!!! I have ZERO regrets...and I mean ZERO...and I would do it again 10 times over. I am still new, but I am 30 pounds down...to a place I haven't seen in 17 years. There is NO substitute for that feeling. I paid $12,900 in Houston. PB is a "productive burp" (who the hell thought of that term?) which is like a barf without the stomach contractions. When I have PB'd, I just lean over and whatever is stuck in therre kindof rolls out (I know...TMI). You PB when you eat too fast, don't chew enough, and the food gets "stuck". You will KNOW it when it happens! Sliming is the excess salivation that happens when you start producing saliva (and mucus) to digest the food....that's stuck. Instead of it being produced in your tummy, it winds up in your throat, and you generally have to spit it out. It's part of the deal and for me anyway, it's not that big a deal when it happens, but you sure don't ever want to make a habit of it. Bad for your band, and not fun. -
female only What will IT look like? Maybe be tmi for some...

Okay, so as I gained weight my vaj-jay gained too! Especially right above, in my pubic hair region...it's a big ol' fat pooch! So freaking disgusting and it has ,ajar impact on sex life. Now that I have a surgery date I am starting to wonder how my poor little va-jay-jay will look afterwards! I mean she wants to be pretty too! Did anyone else have this horrible pooch? What difference did you see in your girlie parts?? Is there such thing as vag tuck?? lol... I don't want her to be droopy or saggy!! Lol...sorry, but this is really a serious concern! 5'2" 264 lbs -
This is probably too much information, but since rny gastric bypass in April, I only have a bowl movement once a week. I know this is pretty normal, that is not really my concern. My concern is recently I had a bowel movement, when I got up to flush I noticed there were some solid pieces of food in my bowel movement. I just recently introduced solid food to my diet. I ate broccoli and that was what was solid. I do chew my food well so I am concerned that there was solid food. Any thoughts? Should I be concerned that a solid peice of broccoli was able to go through my stoma?

I hope Bronxmerci is ok too! Praying for her! Happy Birthday @@layknee I have found a new snack that my tummy loves, they are Multigrain hummus garlic tortilla chips, with a little sweet onion salsa...omg so yummy! I had half a cheeseburger tonight for dinner, a few fries with it, all made at home...and I didn't get nauseous from it, but I think I had just a couple bites too many, cuz I was just uncomfortable for a little bit after. I had to pace back and forth up and down the hallway so I didn't make myself "think" I was going to throw up. I tend to dry heave alot when my tummy feels icky :-/ Tomorrow is Monday tho, so I'm hoping to hear back about the liver stuff! On another note, sorry if it's tmi lol, but this last week and a half or so, I've been moving my bowels somewhat normally, without the help of any suppository lol. I still take my Colace once, sometimes twice a day, but that's it. It's a relief!

The shoulder pain is most likely from gas pain. Are you walking because that helps with the gas pains. I'm 7 week post op and I struggled with getting all my protein in. If I couldn't get my protein in I drink more water, that helped with the constipation...tmi..but hey...it gets real LOL.! I never tried tomato soup during my first weeks. It was jello, broth, SF popsicles, and protein....repeat and repeat. What are some of the other things you're eating?

Anna - i am three weeks and two days out - mushies aren't any better trust me. I drink chicken broth all the time. I think it helps with some kind of craving. Don't ask me what it is but i feel a boost of energy and its warm and goes down so easy i swear to you i could drink it all day. The only thing the mushies have done for me is make me constipated. So talk about no weight loss in the last few days, well your lookin at it. I almost feel better just drinking warm fluids then eating when i am backed up (TMI sorry). Just do what you can - i am in the same boat - but love my chicken broth. Try it it might help and its 3 grams of protein a cup so its some protein. good luck carmy

ok ladies, help me remember please, because i'm racking my brains out! i haven't had a period (normal or drug induced) in a long time, im currently sorting out my PCOS issues, and i never really been diagnosed for it until i switched GYNs and demanded for a whole slew of tests to be ran...by the way, i got poked three times today to do the insulin resistance and hormone level testing, what a joy that was! :crying: so, im posting this because, i remember way back in the day when i was of normal weight and having periods, my nipples would get really tender/sore and deep pink about a week before i was to get my period. that's what's going on now. BUT i also have clear, non smelly, "vajay" discharge.(sorry if TMI, lol :cursing:) i can't, for the life of me, remember if i got this too before my periods when my system was normal... my question (and i know i can google it and find out, but i rather speak to my fellow bandster ladies) do you get this discharge too before your periods? and if you do, what's up with that?!?!?! -Kiki

Crying on the bathroom floor

I also had a stall for over a week at about 2 week mark. The scale was not tipping one way or the other. It is super frustrating but this morning - bam - it tipped 3lbs down. I spoke to my nutritionist who reminded me that my body needed time to catch up to the weight I lost. In the meantime, I also got my period and sorry for the TMI but went #2. I'm not having a regular bowel movement and I feel that now that I am pureed food, I should be going more. I'm only going once a week. Do you find that your body is loosing inches and not weight? -
Hey just wanted to update everyone. I am 6 days post op and today is the best I've felt since surgery. I have lost 7 pounds from the day I came home from the hospital (the 28th). I've been taking Gas X and pain meds as needed and no nausea meds. I haven't had any issues getting food down...liquids cause a lot if grumbling and belching but nothing I can't deal with. I ate mashed potatoes for the first time yesterday and I had my first real BM (meaning no medicine to help and it wasn't liquidy sorry if TMI!). Still hoping my weight loss kicks in to hard drive...but until then steady she goes! Hope everyone is doing well!

Gee, The 3 week stall is VERY real. I don't know the scientific explanation either, but I truly believe it's related to your body going into starvation mode. Once your body accepts that you won't be giving it the tons of food we were giving it before, then the stall will break. And, you'll stall every now and again because you're eating too much, or not eating enough, or not moving enough, or moving so much that your body is converting fat to muscle. However, overall, you (we) will lose weight. I'm stuck just under the 300 mark right now and have been here for a week or so. However, I'm exercising more than ever, just added treadmill tonight, yay me! I can feel my clothes getting loser and I'm betting things are shifting for you as well. I broke my 3 week stall by ADDING food to my diet, instead of subtracting. I added in a few carbs and added more Water. TMI, then I started going regularly. I happen to love the days I go, because I immediately see the results in the scale. Many years ago, a friend of mine told me that the weight we lose doesn't magically evaporate...it has to go somewhere. So, every bodily function uses up some of that: sweating, breathing, and potty times all rid the body of it's excesses. It was a DUH moment for me. Good luck on your journey!! You are going to get there...and I can't wait to see your pictures!!
-
Good! Never TMI! Do you feel any better? Now keep on drinking your fluids and eat (if you can) metamucil wafers one package once a day, they come in apple cinnamon and cinnamon . . I love them, just like eating Cookies. . . they will help keep you regular. . .

I switched off from Water and broth, day 4, could have Protein Drinks and such. As soon as I had 2 oz of Protein, the gas started flowing out the right end, no more burps. I have felt much better since then. Powerade Zero is also a big help. Now today I am going to work towards some liquid/protein goals. This is gonna be much tougher than I thought, as far as getting the liquids and Proteins in. Also, doc gave me antibiotics for part of bowel prep, through the IV in the hospital and sent me home with some antibiotic horse pills to grind up and ruin some drink. Guess what I have now, a yeast infection. like I needed that. Sorry for tmi, but just so others are warned. Have something on hand for yeast infection, I dont and have to wait for someone to go to store.

I guess I have finally hit the dreaded stall. I have been the same weight for the last 3 days. I have lost 32 pounds so far and had my surgery just a little over 4 weeks ago. I am on my period (tmi, sorry) so that may have a little to do with it. I hope the stall doesn't last long, it's very frustrating.

Happy Birthday. So cute you both share the same b-day. I feel much better but while on vacation that first day was not the best and I actually threw up in the car. Thank goodness I had a bag because it came so sudden there was no time to stop. Today I have been fine but all my food was mushy. Yogurt is my friend. The odd thing is I throw up just slime. No food at all (maybe a tiny bit). Sorry for the TMI. Does anyone have this? It's like the food won't come up.
-
You are hysterical!!! Love the "insight"... they don't visit with me anymore... but I feel your "pain" LOL...thanks for sharing, even if it's TMI

Please, please tell me that there is a decent tasting protein drink out there? I don't know how I'm going to make it. I can not handle Isopure or liquidcel so far. Nor unflavored protein powder. There is a smell to all these drinks and as soon as they get up by my nose, my stomach wants to retch. TMI - Even after just a taste, I belch it back up and can smell it...omg...I don't know how I'm going to handle protein shakes when I get to full liquids. I'm really concerned about not getting my protein requirements but I don't want to vomit everytime I try to drink one of these.
