Whew, I made it through my first week back to work...now that's an NSV as far as I'm concerned. By 1pm on Wednesday I wasn't sure I'd make it and was trying to decide if anyone would notice if I curled up the bench in my cubicle and tapped out for a bit, lol....but I persevered with the help of a friend texting me and reminding me to sip, walk, and sip some more-even when she got the flu and could barely eat or drink herself. I love the friends we make here! Encouragement is such a great thing. I also did well with my protein and food intake by being well prepared and following some other suggestions from fellow "losers". Didn't see a big loss but I'll take my -1/2lb and be happy with it cause my attitude was much improved as well as how I felt in general. Thanks everyone for helping me make it through this week with a smile and a grateful heart. (My boss and co-workers thank you too, lol!) Have a wonderful, active, and healthy weekend! -

Congratulations!! We refer to these as NSV or Non scale Victories. I think NSV are awesome and even better than the number changing on a scale. Perfect NSV is shrinking out of clothing. My latest was my wedding ring slipping off my finger and not staying on. My Wife wasn't as thrilled as I but we can adjust the ring as we go. But Laurie is certainly right there are so many ways to gauge success!! Congrats again, Jim -
January 2013 Sleevers?
shortsleevedkay replied to LenaVSG's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well everyone...let me tell yall whayt happened at work. My 2nd day back to work, my coworkers made a huge deal about how much weight I lost and how small my face and stomach is. They don't know I had the surgery. One jealous coworker said...she probably went and had Lipo suction or weightloss surgery. I got so upset inside but I smiled and said, we all was supposed to be eating right since Jan 1st...I said well guess I didn't cheat on eating the healthy foods. I said , did I also Lipo sucked my face...lol So they continued saying how my uniform look like its hanging on me..lol...so this is my huge nsv I guess. Today a customer said how well I looked and for me to keep up the good work...oh well...guess everyone will not be on ur side especially when u are doing good with yourself....life goes on!!!! Have a good day everyone. .. . -
Time to put that nasty scale in time out! Put the scale in the darkest closest you have.......It's totally bad. Please stop weighing yourself for a few weeks and take a mini vacation from it. It will drive you crazy. The way the weight drops and then stalls is completely normal and the further out you get the slower the weight comes off. So time to work on being grateful for all your accomplishments ups to this point....Yes, you have done a great job! The rest of the weight will fall off in due time but now it's time to enjoy today and not focus on tomorrow..... Eat healthy, protein, protein, and protein, and veggies. Drink a lot of water and celebrate the many little NSV's you've experienced up until today.......You have succeeded!

feeling like a failure already
Pana'sNewStart replied to Msluv83's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Give the lapband time to its thing! You are so not a failure! The weight will come off and like carolinagirl said, I bet your clothes are looser and bigger on you. I'm sure there are NSV's (non-scale victories) all around you! Look for them. In a few months time, when you're down all those pounds, it won't matter how slowly the weight came off, only that it did Chin up, sunshine, you're doing great!! -
i feel oh so pretty

Super Positive Sunday! Love your sleeve, Love Yourself!
VSG_me replied to deedeemuffin's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
What a good thread! Well it's not Sunday, but I wanted to post if it's ok I'm on my lunch break at work hee hee  I'm happy to have lost 20 lbs in one month. I've NEVER been able to say I've lost that much weight ever. My husband hugged me this morning and said "you're getting so small, my arms wrap so far around you when I hug you now!" that was a great NSV. Also sleeping comfortably again has been a relief for me! I still have a way to go before goal but I know I will get there. So thankful for my sleeve! Good luck to everyone and keep the good vibes coming! -
All of my December sleevers...
cygnusatratus replied to blkdiamond377's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
So to me I still look as fat as ever in the mirror but last night I had an almost scary NSV! Almost 1am as I was getting ready for bed I remembered it was garbage night. I was already stripped down and I'm pretty sure in my sedate neighborhood I'm the only one still up and about so I took the garbage to the curb in my boxers. As I was hurrying to get back in out of the cold before a car drove past I saw the shadow of a man against my house, cast by the streetlight directly across. For a split moment I was freaked out until I realized it was in fact my own shadow and I didn't recognize it immediately. The shadow had love handles but was no where near round like it used to be. I actually stopped to gawk at it in disbelief for a while. So I guess much of my weight is still hanging off the front and is still offensive to me in 3D, but my 2 dimensional profile isn't looking half bad! If you are struggling to notice your progress, take a page from a groundhog and see if your bare shadow scares you. What's the worst than can happen? Six more weeks of winter? -
I am just over 6 weeks out. My main protein source is still a protein drink. I personally am scared of food so good for u for trying food. But I always read if a stall increase protein and go back to basics. Try liquid only for a few days and see if that helps. I was also told that even at 6 weeks out I should be at about 600-700 calories a day. And start to measure ur self!!!! Weeks that I only loose a few pounds I see my inches change and that helps. I personally haven't dropped many pant sizes, although I'm at a total loss of 67lbs. By belly is still to big. Look for NSV too. Like can you tie your shoes better or are you walking better. Little things that don't always show on the scale. Good luck to you!!!

Who is scheduled for Jan 8th? I'm getting nervous
2013newme replied to 2013isit's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
ok - I am soooo frustrated!!! I have been 218 for more than a week - and what is worse - every day it teeters between 218 and 219 - some days 219, some days 218. I have really upped my walking since Valentine's Day - walking at least 10000 steps every day - and this week started 3 miles of aggressive exercise (like really working out and breaking a sweat). My typical day of food looks like this: morning protein shake (about 200 calories) and blueberries, mid morning - protein drink (Medifast - 100 calories), lunch - non-fat cottage cheese or hummus with raw veggies, mid-afternoon - protein drink (100 calories), dinner - portioned fish, veggies, and whole wheat couscous..... I try to get in water thoughout the day too - but probably only about 32 oz - I know I need to step that up for sure! I also know that I'm building muscle - which weighs more than fat... but COME ON!! 7 full days of going back and forth with one pound and NOT LOSING ANY WEIGHT!!!! I am doing everything right!!!! or am I???? I know I should concentrate on my NSVs like clothes fit better, I'm getting exercise in for the first time in a long time, I have far more energy - but it is soooo hard to celebrate those when the scale doesn't budge!!!!! FRUSTRATING!!!! -
NSV. I went to a store yesterday and the top and pants I wanted to get were on the clearance rack. I was so happy started to look for my size and I had to walk away because they were all to big for me. It felt so good to have this happen to me. I love my sleeve and my new life.
