    Best NSV ever!

Yep, I agree that it's one of the best NSVs! I can't wait til I don't have to hold onto my leg to keep them crossed.
  4. Yes this is a pic of my legs crossed!!! This feels so wonderful after not being able to do this for sooo many years!!! I'm 7 1/2 months postop and down 78 lbs!! Forgive me! I couldn't resist the pic! Hehe
  5. Congrats jaydee.... As Jim said that is a NSV !! and wow I bet you were smiling for sure..... this is just the begining ...enjoy !!!
  6. Congratulations!! We refer to these as NSV or Non scale Victories. I think NSV are awesome and even better than the number changing on a scale. Perfect NSV is shrinking out of clothing. My latest was my wedding ring slipping off my finger and not staying on. My Wife wasn't as thrilled as I but we can adjust the ring as we go. But Laurie is certainly right there are so many ways to gauge success!! Congrats again, Jim

    January 2013 Sleevers?

Well everyone...let me tell yall whayt happened at work. My 2nd day back to work, my coworkers made a huge deal about how much weight I lost and how small my face and stomach is. They don't know I had the surgery. One jealous coworker said...she probably went and had Lipo suction or weightloss surgery. I got so upset inside but I smiled and said, we all was supposed to be eating right since Jan 1st...I said well guess I didn't cheat on eating the healthy foods. I said , did I also Lipo sucked my face...lol So they continued saying how my uniform look like its hanging on me..lol...so this is my huge nsv I guess. Today a customer said how well I looked and for me to keep up the good work...oh well...guess everyone will not be on ur side especially when u are doing good with yourself....life goes on!!!! Have a good day everyone. .. .

    Frustrated!

Time to put that nasty scale in time out! Put the scale in the darkest closest you have.......It's totally bad. Please stop weighing yourself for a few weeks and take a mini vacation from it. It will drive you crazy. The way the weight drops and then stalls is completely normal and the further out you get the slower the weight comes off. So time to work on being grateful for all your accomplishments ups to this point....Yes, you have done a great job! The rest of the weight will fall off in due time but now it's time to enjoy today and not focus on tomorrow..... Eat healthy, protein, protein, and protein, and veggies. Drink a lot of water and celebrate the many little NSV's you've experienced up until today.......You have succeeded!

    feeling like a failure already

Give the lapband time to its thing! You are so not a failure! The weight will come off and like carolinagirl said, I bet your clothes are looser and bigger on you. I'm sure there are NSV's (non-scale victories) all around you! Look for them. In a few months time, when you're down all those pounds, it won't matter how slowly the weight came off, only that it did Chin up, sunshine, you're doing great!!

    i feel oh so pretty

it really is! To lose 16lbs is like heaven for me. I told myself before i started this journey i was going to appreciate every lost and every NSV. I never want to go back to where i was before
  11. What a good thread! Well it's not Sunday, but I wanted to post if it's ok I'm on my lunch break at work hee hee  I'm happy to have lost 20 lbs in one month. I've NEVER been able to say I've lost that much weight ever. My husband hugged me this morning and said "you're getting so small, my arms wrap so far around you when I hug you now!" that was a great NSV. Also sleeping comfortably again has been a relief for me! I still have a way to go before goal but I know I will get there. So thankful for my sleeve! Good luck to everyone and keep the good vibes coming!

    All of my December sleevers...

So to me I still look as fat as ever in the mirror but last night I had an almost scary NSV! Almost 1am as I was getting ready for bed I remembered it was garbage night. I was already stripped down and I'm pretty sure in my sedate neighborhood I'm the only one still up and about so I took the garbage to the curb in my boxers. As I was hurrying to get back in out of the cold before a car drove past I saw the shadow of a man against my house, cast by the streetlight directly across. For a split moment I was freaked out until I realized it was in fact my own shadow and I didn't recognize it immediately. The shadow had love handles but was no where near round like it used to be. I actually stopped to gawk at it in disbelief for a while. So I guess much of my weight is still hanging off the front and is still offensive to me in 3D, but my 2 dimensional profile isn't looking half bad! If you are struggling to notice your progress, take a page from a groundhog and see if your bare shadow scares you. What's the worst than can happen? Six more weeks of winter?

    Dinner

I am just over 6 weeks out. My main protein source is still a protein drink. I personally am scared of food so good for u for trying food. But I always read if a stall increase protein and go back to basics. Try liquid only for a few days and see if that helps. I was also told that even at 6 weeks out I should be at about 600-700 calories a day. And start to measure ur self!!!! Weeks that I only loose a few pounds I see my inches change and that helps. I personally haven't dropped many pant sizes, although I'm at a total loss of 67lbs. By belly is still to big. Look for NSV too. Like can you tie your shoes better or are you walking better. Little things that don't always show on the scale. Good luck to you!!!
  14. SML1997 hey guy glad you dropped by I've missed you i figured you were busy with your new, happier, healthier life you look great!!!! terrific before and after pictures!! you've done so amazing - but i always knew you would!!!! luv your airplane NSV's - stories!!! don't be a stranger "sad" that i'm seeing "less and less" of you take care continued good luck
  15. ok - I am soooo frustrated!!! I have been 218 for more than a week - and what is worse - every day it teeters between 218 and 219 - some days 219, some days 218. I have really upped my walking since Valentine's Day - walking at least 10000 steps every day - and this week started 3 miles of aggressive exercise (like really working out and breaking a sweat). My typical day of food looks like this: morning protein shake (about 200 calories) and blueberries, mid morning - protein drink (Medifast - 100 calories), lunch - non-fat cottage cheese or hummus with raw veggies, mid-afternoon - protein drink (100 calories), dinner - portioned fish, veggies, and whole wheat couscous..... I try to get in water thoughout the day too - but probably only about 32 oz - I know I need to step that up for sure! I also know that I'm building muscle - which weighs more than fat... but COME ON!! 7 full days of going back and forth with one pound and NOT LOSING ANY WEIGHT!!!! I am doing everything right!!!! or am I???? I know I should concentrate on my NSVs like clothes fit better, I'm getting exercise in for the first time in a long time, I have far more energy - but it is soooo hard to celebrate those when the scale doesn't budge!!!!! FRUSTRATING!!!!
  16. NSV. I went to a store yesterday and the top and pants I wanted to get were on the clearance rack. I was so happy started to look for my size and I had to walk away because they were all to big for me. It felt so good to have this happen to me. I love my sleeve and my new life.

  17. Hot hot hot! You are looking good! And those NSV's - the best part. I love fitting comfortably into an airplane seat - it feels like a miracle every time. Congrats on all of your successes, and how great to see such change in 5 months!
  18. Awesome job & thanks for the honesty......I had a NSV recently. I sat in my neighbors hottub & I totally questioned if they got a new one, it looked like the old one but I was deeper in the water, the custom seats were bigger than me instead of completely not fitting my bumm! I was blown away, of course it was the same hottub
  19. Hello Everyone, I haven't posted here in a while, work has just been crazy lately. Anyhow.... I recently came back from a business trip/vacation and I have several NSVs that I would like to share just as an encouragement to anyone still thinking about getting sleeved. Last year, I shared on here I had a couple terrible experience flying to Milwaukee and Jamaica. Just being a big guy, I was never comfortable riding a plane, asking for a seat belt extender, not being able to place the tray table down, etc. Well...that certainly has changed. A few NSVs... I was able to fit comfortably into my airplane seat. (And I noticed a difference in the people I sat by. No one gave me that...."Oh my... don't sit by me" look that you get as a big person walking down the aisle. I not only didn't need to ask for a seat belt extender, but I was able to place the tray table all the way down, and had a lot of slack left over from the seat belt. (I didn't show it on the outside, but on the inside.... I know I shed some tears. I spent the whole flight reflecting on the terrible experiences I've had in the past and how blessed I was to have this opportunity.) At my conference, there were festivities during the night with live music and dancing....I couldn't believe the amount of offers I had to dance. It was unbelieveable... I had great time.... and I didn't feel like the fat guy on the outside of the "in crowd." After my business conference in Orlando last week, I stayed for few days and visited the Disney and Universal theme parks. A huge NSV for me is that I fit on every single ride that I went on. Even the ones I would never think I could fit onto.... I FIT. Finally, I saw several co-workers that I haven't seen in a while at the conference... and I received so many compliments. It was awesome! Well.... I'm sure I could think of some more... but these are what comes to mind right away. I still have a ways to go...but the sleeve has definitely given me a fighting chance at being happy and healthy for the remainder of my life. A couple pics below. *Downtown Miami - 2/21/2013 - Down 80 LBS - 5 Months Post Op *Pre-Op in July of 2012 *NSV Picture - Airplane Flight - Tray Table Down, Magazine & juice, and Seat Belt Room Still Left
  20. I don't post many questions here because I am (in my own mind) a band expert, but today I had an experience I can't quite figure out, so maybe y'all can help me with it. Also: an NSV is a non-scale victory - a weight loss benefit unrelated to the numbers on the scale. This morning I drove to a liquor store up in KY (this TN county and all the surrounding ones are dry, so KY is the nearest place to buy booze) to buy 100-proof vodka so my husband can make a cordial he calls “stumpblower” out of the pulp he extracted from last year’s blackberries. At the liquor store I had to ask one of the guys working there for help finding the 100-proof vodka. He was maybe in his late 30’s, pleasant and helpful. After I picked out the vodka (I chose the cheapest because my husband's past efforts at making stuff like cider and fruit cordial have not worked out well enough to justify something like Absolut), we walked up to the counter. I gave him cash and instead of just handing me the change, he pressed into my palm and kind of squeezed my hand. I’m not sure if that was an NSV because he was attracted to/flirting with me (in which case he must prefer older women, because I'm almost 60), or just weird. Years ago I read somewhere that touching a customer’s hand during a transaction like that is an effective way to make a personal connection to them, thereby building customer loyalty. I don’t know if I believe that. I don't think it's something a Yankee would do (but I haven't lived in the northeast for 14 years), but that’s the first time it’s happened to me here in the south. I very rarely touch customers at the JCPenney store where I work unless I’m doing a bra fit, and then I tell the customer in advance what I’m going to do so she doesn’t jump a mile when I touch her. I love to hug my old lady customers but even then I always ask for permission, like saying, “Is it OK if I give you a hug?” What would you think if something like that happened to you? Good, bad, indifferent? Thoughts? Opinions?

I'M IN ONELANDER, YEAH!!!!!!! 199 LBS this am. I want to thank my LBT family. A lot of you have been here for me from my very first day. You taught me, you inspired me and you support me through thick and thin. Thank you, doesn't seem to be enough, but it's all I have, my undying gratitude!
  22. Finally got around to ordering my medical dog tag id. Now it will serve two purposes. A place to hang my wedding ring since it falls off now. NSV!!

    A funny NSV

Today I put my underwear backwards and have been walking around all day and not even realized it till my third time peeing this afternoon I looked down and saw the writing inside the underwear was on the wrong side of my body. When I was 270 lbs and wore a size 11 underwear there was no way I was pulling up my pants and walking around all day like that because my legs would have been cut off..my butt would never have been covered...and the back would have been so much larger then the front...Not today! Just thought I'd share!

HI everyone- weekend was kind of a bummer. Was going to a zumba party but DH gave me some grief Thursday night about it, so I didn't bring my clothes. Then he said, "go ahead and go," so I arranged with dd to bring the little kids and my clothes so I could go- and she totally forgot my clothes. So that was a bust. Didn't eat horribly- and no ice cream- but didn't log or really keep too much track. But today I will! I also didn't sleep well at all and woke up with a headache. Grrrr. Oh well. Oh, and DH was going to take the kids to the pool, but they had to come home because a baby pooped in the pool, LOL. Good news on the DH front- the ultrasound came back fine, no issues at all with pancreas, liver, etc. So you'd think that was good news, right? What does DH say? "Nope, it's all in my bowels, I told you that." Sigh. Not only is the glass half empty, but it's cracked and somebody spit in it. Nicole- the light therapy may just be the ticket. Nothing too long, though Chrissy- yay for zumba!!! Good for you, and what a nice NSV to have the instructor not recognize you! And no knee pain, that is great. I too eat more calories and am hungrier sooner- but honestly, for me, some of it are the sliders I'm eating because real food can be too slow to eat or the risk of stuck is too great. So that's my challenge, to eat real food! Ready- I hope the new fill is good- so your slip is fixed, yes? That's good news!! Now you can be back on track, good for you! Ladybandido- thanks for the prayers! Heaven knows we need them, LOL. February is a tough month, my BIL has SAD, it can hit him hard. Have you every heard of a lightbox? It gives full spectrum light and can really help. And it's not easy being sick on top of it all, of course!! Sue- sounds to me like you did well, at least under calories, so good for you! And manning a bake sale table, well, that just sounds hard!! WHen things like that tempt me I remind myself that they won't taste as good as when I make them, so why waste the calories on something yucky...LOL... Well, off to put out fires at work, grrr. Everyone have a great day! Nicki
