I am struggling right now with everything not sure how I should finish my two last weeks I did 4 weeks on full liquid - no cheat until dec 18 then I got delayed to jan 22nd with instructions of no fat no sugar as much as possible. Just about everything got fat / sugar so yea, lovely. I don't know if i should try to go liquid even if the nurses just said i can eat normally My daily meals looks like this: 1x premier protein, 1x protein bar, 1x egg + tomato + chicken stock, cauliflower + 1 low fat sausage + chicken stock, 1x greek yogurt , 1x fat free pudding + protein (1/2 cup) I make sure I have plenty of protein every day in my 3 last week I didn't regain any weight I lost but didn't lose anymore

I remember eating a lot of tuna and Greek yogurt I never liked anything healthy prior to surgery. Now I have fallen in love with so many healthy foods and I Control how much I eat. I still take a few bites and then walk away from my food. I refuse to go back to being overweight. -
I’m only 4 weeks out but yogurt has been my best friend. It’s what I go too the most.

I really think that "you can transition to X foods on [date]" is a best case scenario and it's never going to be a smooth transition. I didn't do well with fat-free yogurt during the full liquid phase (though it's fine now) and baby food was difficult the first day I could eat it. I really need to not get so excited about soft foods starting on 1/17 since it won't be easy, I'm sure. -

I don't know if that's necessarily normal- it may just be normal for you. But if you do eat eggs, add a little milk and whisk them up light and fluffy. They will be easier to digest. I think Greek yogurt is super thick and hard to digest, so maybe steer clear of it for a while. For jello, I had to let it practically melt in my mouth before swallowing to not feel a "brick" in my stomach. -
Sleeved on 12/29 - first day back to work today. Being in the office is very different than being home - my mind is totally occupied with food and I feel hungry here (was not really the case at home...possibly I'm not drinking enough liquids?). Doing great except I sometimes get an intense gripping pain when something hits my stomach after swallowing, especially anything not really a liquid (like jello or yogurt). 2 tablespoons of ff plain greek yogurt also caused terrible diarrhea last night. Supposed to transition to try eggs and other soft solids later this week, yikes - I'm terrified of my stomach's reaction!

Had VGS 12/29 - 11 days post op. After a brutal first three days, I forced myself off of pain meds, started walking 2-4 miles a day and now I feel outstanding, lots of energy, minimal discomfort. Doing fine with liquids apart from some minor cramps/spasms if I swallow too fast, or it is too hot/cold. However, I was told I could eat sf jello and ff plain greek yogurt but both of those cause immediate gripping stomach pain. Had 2 tablespoons of greek yogurt last night, terrible stomach ache followed by diarrhea. Is this normal? By my schedule I'm supposed to be able to transition to eggs and apple sauce later this week but I am petrified to try anything else. I'm SOOOOOO sick of liquids and want to be able to slowly transition but I'm very nervous. -

The usual jibber-jabber - remember if you are losing weight, even if at a slower/reduced rate, that isn't a stall. And are you hitting your water intake with no problems? Still taking vitamins every day? When I hit my first road block it helped me to actually bump my calories up a bit. Obviously at 2 months out that isn't easy to do. I did little things like adding a spoonful of Greek yogurt to my protein drinks. Just getting it up by an extra 100-200 calories seemed to help. I did tweak my carbs a bit to try and get them a bit lower where I could. Don't get too bothered with it. It's frustrating but things will kick back into gear before you know it.

I was at Disney World in December. I am a few months out and way past the soft food stage. But I will tell you that you won’t find much you can eat in the parks. And ordering for yourself at one of the sit down restaurants is a total waste since you can’t eat much of it. Typically I would eat a small amount off someone else’s plate (for instance my husband got a club sandwich and I ate the meat and cheese off one of the wedges). We did bring in at least one meal everyday and ate it at an outside table. We also ate breakfast in the hotel every morning before we headed out (food we brought). We flew with a soft side cooler and brought yogurt, protein drinks, soft cheese, some pre-made lunch packs with meat, cheese and crackers, peanut butter, apple slices, etc. Know that you CAN fly with food as long as it is checked. And you can bring any food and drinks into the park. Finally, there are ways to have groceries delivered to your room both in and off Disney property. Check the web for details.

Ready-made chicken salad in the same aisle as the tuna packets. Yogurt. Take shakes and a thermal cup - don't get dehydrated - that would be worse than not getting food - and you just can't get caught up easily once that happens. Keep egg salad in your hotel fridge, refried beans to microwave w some cheese - could buy a chicken burrito and just eat the insides.

Had a lot of the same struggles. Eggs in general were tough, whether scrambled or deviled. Even though mashed potatoes don't have any decent nutritional value they're a nice "comfort" food at that point. Yogurts were a must for me at that stage. I wasn't allowed any sort of solid meats until 4 weeks. I could blend tuna after 2 weeks but didn't have much interest in that personally. The ricotta bake was a Godsend to be honest. That was one of the best things in the world at that stage. It was super tastey and felt like I was actually eating real food again. Definitely put that on your list.

Almonds - string cheese - I wonder why that stuff never goes bad - protien bar of course. Keep nonfat yogurt or a bean salad in your room. I ask hotels do a fridge for medical concernsand then have groceries delivered veggies and hummus as well. Tuna or chicken salad on sliced cucumber is a good in room option as well. Enjoy the magical kingdom.

Take it slow, when I started eggs were too tough. I ended up doing lentil soup, which was good and very liquid. I did do some purée chicken (puréed chicken and some light mayo dressing). My purée stage was 2 weeks, so I didn't get too creative and mostly did shakes or soup and at the end yogurt. Soft foods is a much more fulfilling stage.

Hi All, I was 59 last August. My bypass was almost 4 weeks ago. Doing great. Down 35 lbs so far. Not a fan of puréed food,so sticking to mostly protein drinks and lots of fluids. Tomorrow going to have some yogurt or cottage cheese oh and totally loving soft scrambled egg with cheese! Best of luck ! -
I'm sore on the left side of my belly and my rib cage. I think that was from the gas and not being able to move. I believe the only dumb question is the one not asked. Having said that, I haven't been afraid to drink anything after the first day but I did drink a sip of carbonated water accidentally.....i would not recommend. Try to keep drinking your protein shakes. my book says to start by drinking 4 ounces over one hour and build up slowly and remember the shakes count, yogurt counts, strained soup counts too. I'm not a doctor but you can try that until you contact your doctor. Good 🍀

Ughhh, Stalled and frustrated with my eating routine. I need help trying to figure out how to get more protein based calories in. It's hard because I'm still struggling to eat more than 2oz of dense proteins at a time, and by then I have to move on to hydration 30 mins later. I have resorted to using honey in yogurt because it adds calories but does not take up additional stomach space otherwise I'm at about 400 calories and I believe my body is trying to go into starvation mode but honey adds sugars, le sigh. I'm eating about 500-700 calories a day, mostly 60g protein almost 48g carbs. Maybe im doing it all wrong. And ideas, plans, prayers?

I usually pace myself and it takes me like 30 minutes to finish 1 yogurt. And it will leave me content, but then I’m hungry an hour later.

I go back and forth! I'm starting to introduce foods. So far the only thing it seems I can't tolerate is refried beans. I'm going slow, though. I'm gobbling up yogurt. I don't feel starving, but I do feel hungry often. But I find I can't finish even a small yogurt. But then 30 min later, I feel hungry again... Sent from my Pixel using BariatricPal mobile app

I am phase 2 post op, but my surgeon has a really strict phase 2 and mine seems to be different then everyone’s. 1 week post surgery I’m on clear liquids only w/ 1 protein shake a day. That’s phase 1. Phase 2 is 2 weeks of full liquids, my choices are yogurt, creamed soups strained, broth, jello, pudding, popsicles and that’s it. Today I had some tomato soup w/ skim milk. And then couple popsicles and for dinner I had a protein shake. That’s all I really could force myself to eat today lol.

How often to eat/drink first week

Mine was 12-28. I found it easy to constantly sip water/Gatorade. I kept it on me everywhere I went. The protein was hard initially to get 60g. I am honestly still having trouble with it but it’s getting easier. I have found that i can do 4 gulps of premiere protein shake at a time. So I try to take 4 gulps every 2-3 hours. Then for lunch I have a yogurt. Then I start my second shake when I get home. Then for dinner I have Campbell’s tomato soup watered down (not much of it), and then before bed i try to finish my second shake. This seems to be a pretty good routine and is actually pretty easy to consume throughout the day. Hope this helps!! -
Hi I was sleeved the 12/22/2017 on purred foods taste buds have changed I drink cream soups, chicken salad, CHOCOLATE IS THE BEST PREMIER PROTEIN SHAKE campbells is good just dilute with water or skim milk, its hard to get all what they want you to get in but protein first , I like yogurt i get the one with some flavor as the plain is nasty, i tried i gagged. we can chat as I am having trouble with what to eat, as we are limited at this time and i have tried some things on you tube, spice gives me gas so i am doing shakes cottage cheese yogurt chicken salad spinach blend tuna I tried fish to heavy in stomach going to try beans tomorrow good luck

Hello everyone, I'm 11 days post op and today a had a stick of string cheese. I chewed it up very well but obviously it was a mistake. With the blizzard my protein shakes didn't come on time and I had to babysit last minute so I had the cheese. I plan on calling my doctor monday and letting him know. My concern is that I felt no restriction after eating the cheese, I haven't felt restriction regarding my fluids either. I'm worried that my sleeve was botched. Is this possible?? Btw the cheese did not harm me in anyway and I drank lots of water after, I plan on going back to full protein shake the remainder of my week until I can start greek yogurts.
