    Any one in NW WA

OK, this is too funny. It's so timely that we've been talking about PS 'cause I have a story from yesterday (if there's any guys our there, sorry, I know this is TMI) I had my mammo yesterday. The tech opend my gown, took one look at me and said "just a minute, I'll be right back" She left the room, came back in and asked "have you lost alot of weight?" I smiled and said ya, but I knew where she was headed. She said, "I have you down as needing the large size film, but the small will do just fine." How depressing!!! LOL Though I would not trade it back for the weight, I sure do miss my boobs (DH does too)! LOL Oh well, you can't have your cake and eat it too! But I guess you can have your boobs and eat cake!!! Thank God for padded Bras!!! A very "deflated" Sue

Thank you all for your support. It means so much to me. I think I am just feeling run down because I can't get over this crud!! I made myself get up and get the whole house cleaned top to bottom today and then I went and cleaned my car before going to he doc. I have brochitus (sp?) and I am now on another new antibiotic. Still don't feel real well but I think I sweat my fever out today while I was cleaning. Now I am really tired. Just got home and going to take a long hot shower and then into comfy clothes and back to bed. Janet- the question about the potty. Sorry TMI- I just talked to doc about that because I am going 5-6 days in between and then I am getting such terrible stomach ache and have to take milk of mag or mag citrate to get things moving. I am supposed to increase fiber intake and start using my benefiber every day again. I really have no excuse for not using it anyway because I have plenty of it I just forget. Aunt flo causes problems in this area also for a week and a half two weeks before she arrives. Peaches- I took your advise and while I waited for the pharmacy to fill my script I went to a soy candle outlet we have locally from a candle factory in town. Got out of there about an hour after going in and had $147.00 worth of candles!! I couldn't believe it!! LOL That is ok though because it was buy one and get one free so I actually have almost $300 worth of candles. MMMMM they smell soooooo good!! Hows that for doing something nice for myself. LOL Ok I better get. I'm getting woozy from the cough syrup. Better go shower and hit the bed. Hey I like this stuff though. Not hacking constantly.

Good luck this week: Feb 4 - 9.

Brookie...I'm with you. I can't believe how awesome I feel three days out. Like you I had some pretty wicked gas. It's finally starting to find it's way outta me. Also got some diarrea (sorry if TMI) yesterday but it's actually helping me relieve the gas pain. And yes, god bless Gas X!! Walking is also a MUST!! For all you other Double V's about to be banded, remember walking is the best medicine!! I've learned quickly that my mantra for the next few weeks is going to be: WALK-SIP-REST-REPEAT!! Oh...and don't even bother getting on the scale after surgery. You are too full of gas and fluids!! Good luck to all of you who are coming up......BANDLAND KICKS ASS!!

Jackie - Hugs to you - just cuz you the scales aren't moving - you can't stop posting :tongue2:. You have been sick - aunt Flo and lack of exercise. These are all contributing factors. How is the being sick - are you well enough to get back on your elliptical?? Here are my suggestions - If you are feeling up to it get back to exercising - drink your water very important - even if you don't count calories write down what you are eating - being sick you may have been consuming more than you thought you were or even maybe not enough - you gotta vary them like every couple of day - lower your salt intake - don't get on the scale for 1 week - just take it one day at a time and concentrate on eating very healthy I know this next question is a TMI one - but how are you doing in the potty department (I ask this cuz I haven’t been doing well - about every 3 days) Like Ruby said you have lost 78 friggin pounds - That's the number you have to concentrate on right now - our weight loss is going to slow sometimes – Look at your before & after pic’s – they show the success that you have achieved… Don’t lose sight of that. Be proud of what you have accomplished so far in just a little over 6 months. This too shall pass – relax the stress is a big factor in our weight problems – so just chill – take it one day at a time and the scales will move again. Now, I want you all to tell me this when I hit my plateau – which should be hitting me soon – I know that this is easy for me to say – but I really feel that we have to think about where we where a year ago and where we are today – We are in such a better place – we are lighter – healthier and more confident. Peaches – Your Bday is the same as my DIL …. Ok - Good Morning Gang - How you all had a good night.. Remember how I tell you all that my legs ache at night - I think it may be lack of water. - I am not always good about getting my water in - and yesterday I made a point of it and last night my legs didn't wake me up hurting like the did the night before - but again I didn't exercise last night (Thurs is one of my allowed days off) - so today I will make an effort to drink my water and I will be exercising tonite - so I will let you know Sat morning if my little experiment works?? Ok Gang just my usual morning ck in - Today's challenge is to DRINK YOUR WATER - I will be tallying tonite...

HELP! New problems with throwing up

In my experience (and everyone is different), it usually takes an hour or two before I'll actually throw up. The bummer is, I feel like absolute dog doo for the entire time and the barfing usually comes as a relief. The quickest I ever went from stuck to barf was way back with my second fill after I ate some rice. That was about 10 minutes total. Never. Again. I will add that I've never actually thrown up at a restaurant, but I have taken a huge pile of napkins in the car with me and slimed into them the whole way home. Sorry if that was TMI!
  6. I seem to be having a bit of trouble with soft foods. I suffered from IBS with diarrhea before surgery. It was really, really bad. I was under the impression that lap band surgery would help alleviate the IBS symptoms and possibly make it disappear forever. This was one of the main reasons (besides my other health issues) I made the decision to have lap band surgery in the first place. The problem: soft foods are going through me immediately. I understand that I don't have a pouch yet, so foods are being processed and running through me the same as before surgery. But why are things worse than before surgery? I won't have my first fill until Feb. 18th, at which time I will venture back to soft foods to see if things change at all. Foods are acting like little rockets and they are flying through the tunnel faster than you can say boo. I hope the visual isn't too frightening. I eat a small chicken caesar salad, and the moment I stand up to go rinse my bowl...HERE IT COMES! I'm hauling tushy to the bathroom and having explosive episodes. (Sorry! I know this is all TMI) It has also happened with *almost* all of the other soft foods I've eaten this entire week. omelet, a buckwheat pancake, chicken noodle Soup, saltine crackers, chicken nuggets, a baked potato, taco salad, a hamburger patty w/ mustard but no bun, a grilled chicken breast...almost everything I've tried. This has been going on for well over a week now. At first I thought my body was just readjusting to normal foods again, but one would think it wouldn't happen after a couple days at the most. Agreed? So...I'm done being miserable and I'm done with running to the bathroom before things get messy and I'm especially done with the sore booty area. I guess I'm posting this incredibly long thread to see if anybody else has had issues like this, and if you can tell me why foods are flying through me like a bale of hay in a Kansas tornado?

Nichole-You look awesome!!!!! Don't forget to post those great pictures on the Picture Brag Thread  Peaches- That was hilarious. And just my kind of joke. I loved it. Speaking of bra's. Now ladies, I would give anything in the world to be back in a D. Try finding 38DDD bra's. How in the world can a person loose 60+ lbs and NOT LOOSE AN INCH at the top? And I am not bragging. I am quite frustrated about that. Although hubbie is tickled pink, I am ready to get rid of these things. I have gotten to the point where I really envy the flat women. I would give anything in the world to trade these saggy things for some flatness. Ok, sorry...probably TMI but just a rant....please forgive:rolleyes: And you guys are right...THIS IS THE BEST SUPPORT GROUP, BAR NONE.

    First Stuck/Slime/PB Episode

I took my son and his girlfriend to a fancy restaurant for his birthday yesterday. I ended up getting stuck right away and having to go back and forth to the bathroom. There was really no reason that I got stuck so fast. I was eating Soup, carefully. Sometimes I think eating is just not worth it. I was thinking about a previous post while I was noticing (gross to much information) that when I would spit the slime into the sink, it was like a big stretchy long string. I remember someone posting about slime and how sometimes it comes out in little bubbles, etc. Like I said, TMI. I think when I go to restaurants for awhile, I am just going to order herbal tea. This next two weeks should be interesting. I am going to see my dad who doesn't know I got banded and he likes to eat dinner out every day.
  9. Hi girls! Just got back from a doctor's appointment. Blood pressure is PERFECT. WOW, can you just believe it!! I'm so happy about that... I also did bloodwork and that should come back in a few days and I hope my cholesterol is also good. Tracy - For years I always waxed my upper lip but then one day I just started having a bad reaction to the hot wax. I would get this scab that would last for a few days. I stopped doing that. Now I pluck. One by one. Takes me forever but my skin has become so sensitive that not even dipilaroty creams work for me. And I'm Mexican so I'm super hairy! Try the cream first, that might work for you. HEY, has anyone ever gone to to get waxed in your bikini area?? TMI, but my gut always prevented me from seeing my hoo haa but now that I can see it I am seriously considering getting it waxed. How much does it hurt?
  10. Laura~ I can't wait to buy Across the Universe!!! I loved that movie and must have in the collection! Glad you feeling better! My boss pissed me offfffffff on Friday so much. I know now why people drink after work. I was pissed all weekend (wont bore you w/ details) and pissed again this morning. I was dreading working w/ him this morning. I am the English Language Learner Facilitator @ school and work w/ him everyday for an entire period (no students..just paper work). Anyway, when I walked into his office, the first thing he did was apologize! Made me feel so much better, cause he was waaaayyyy off base, then made me feel like I was the asshole. Hey, I have been the ass from time to time...but this was not the time! So, I have a renewed faith in our professional relationship . Next month we are flying to San Jose for another conference and I told him..."you owe me drinks:biggrin:" Ok...back in a bit! My new pants are falling off me, cause once I sat down...they stretched. I am not complaining...but man...I spent $165 on 3 pair of pants yesterday. The jeans will be better cause they at least have belt loops, lol. But as w/ the other pants, I can pee w/o undoing them. I know TMI! xoxoxoxo

Karri I still am a frosting girl - not as bad but I still enjoy it - Yesterday at Son's they made french bread pizza - I ate the top of one - and had a few chips & dip - I get full fast even on chips.. DIL made steak - bake potatoes & broc for dinner - the meat was a little dry for my taste so didn't eat much mostly chewed and spit out (tmi) cuz I knew it would bet stuck if I didn't - I find that I can eat steak - but it has to be good steak filet migon (sp) something very soft - had my broc and tato (1/2) - then came home and had fish for my protein - DIL had some carrot bundt cake I had sliver of this - where in the past it would have been 3 pieces. Daytime tv:eek: I don't like Kelly Ripa (I liked her when she was on my soap) but she is to frickkin silly - I am not a silly kind of gal... I love being able to watch GMA when I am home - I love Diane Sawyer & Robin... I thought about not comming in - but had too much on my desk - I think I need a mental health day - so maybe I will get my desk cleaned up and be sick tomorrow... Could go to the gym early - and ya I have my local lapband surport group meeting tomorrow night... so if I didn't have to work I could meet Phyl for and early dinner... Well we will see how the day goes - If I stay on here all day - I sure and the heck won't be calling in tomorrow:tongue: Karri btw we should go on oprah next year when we are 2 yrs out... Who wants to join us... We will give them a piece of our minds....

    Jan. 23 Bandsters!!!

Heyas, I'm doing well - down 12 lbs so far since surgery. I feel hungry not all the time but I do. I am on day 7 of 10 for full liquids in my post op diet and am looking forward to going to pureed food towards the end of this week which I will be on for 2 weeks I believe it was. I've been struggling with head hunger and not being able to just "eat what I want" or anything normal. Getting a bit tired of Soup, pudding and yogurt but eh, thems the breaks, it will be all worth it. Still struggling to drink enough Water but I'm working on it. One embarrassing thing though - I haven't pooped yet (TMI I know), but perhaps since I'm only consuming liquid'ish type foods that is the reason. It's not that I'm "backed up" because I don't even feel like I need to go. Steri-strips are all off and incision sites are healing quite well, I'm pretty sure that besides possibly my port spot the others will be almost unnoticable. I am looking forward to pureed food like you wouldn't believe and then to be able to just .. eat normally OMG HEAVEN. Hope everyone is doing well. *BIG HUGS ALL AROUND*
  13. Hello ladies! Just wanted to inform all of you that I woke up freakin pregnant last week lol! I feel like a freakin house! But atleast I feel better without all the people asking if Im eating enough, or if the band is causing problems with the baby and all that....HOWEVER Im still not at my pre-band weight (which is good, I dont mind being that big again because of the pregnancy, but the longer I can hold back the better ) It was so weird, I woke up and couldnt get into anything but maternity pants and bigger tops, then I caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror lol! My rolls had turned into a gut, it was quiet funny actually. I went to the Dr. Thursday for my routine visit, and explained to her that I hadnt been feeling the baby move as often as I thought I should. So she took out the doppler thingy and put it on my belly to listen to the hearbeat and to check for frequent movement, and OFCOURSE the baby had to show out for her. She came alive in there lol! You could SEE my tummy going up and down where she was moving....needless to say, I think my Dr thinks Im crazy! Also, this is a gross TMI Q but I wanted to know, have any of you had a bloody stool? I had a problem with that a week ago, and everyone told me it would be okay. I didnt feel sick or anything, the sight of the blood and stress of it made me a little queasy, but other than that I was cool. Candice, Im so sori that everyone is stressing you out...I think thats why Ive become such a hermit (for some reason, when people known a pregnant woman they become pregnancy experts lol)....that and my devotion to my school work. Turn the phone on silent, thats what I do hehe, chek it ever so often. Im just praying that Im somewhere close to on time with mine because my mom carried over with older sister like 18 days, and carried over with me 23! Im just hoping its not a genetic thing lol! But eventually the baby will come...my poor friend almost had her baby boy too early so they stopped her labor and put her on bedrest, then the baby came a whole week LATE, that poor dear, she thought it would never be over. Hope you finally get that precious baby out soon so you can hug and kiss him/her. Best of luck (know your probably tired of hearing that kind of stuff, but you need all the luck you can get right now lol To the newly pregnant ladies, congrats and hope you have a good pregnancy, dont worry about the band so much...its actually pretty nifty even during pregnancy
  14. I have only slimed once...it was caused by a stuck pill. It hurt like crazy and was very scary because I didn't know what to expect. My mouth just kept filling up with really thick (TMI) saliva. I think the reason the body produces this is to help the stuck food to slide on down. Now since I have had my second fill, occasionally a bite of chicken that is too dry will cause that stuck feeling and my mouth will get a bit of slime, but not nearly as much as when I got the pill stuck. Once you know what is happening it is no longer scary and it reminds you to slow down and take smaller, moister bites. Now I always have a bit of diet salad dressing on my plate to dip the fork into before chewing a piece of dry chicken. If you do vomit or PB (productive burp) it is no biggie. It is not violent like vomiting and it is not gross...no stomach acid in it so it doesn't smell bad. You just don't want to do it too often as that might cause problems for your band.

Hi! New here looking for some advice

Well i finally got my xrays scheduled for next tuesday..so ill find out hopefully what is going on. Ive been taking mira lax for a week now and it seems to be helping. I mean it gives me the gurgly feeling and gas and kinda feels like diahrea. Almost feel like just liquid is coming out. These past days my stools have also been black..sorry if this TMI. Alyson -wow, you go! What is TMI, by the way? I just subscribed to a CSA as well and I'm really excited about getting locally produced meat and veggies. I was at Kroger today and just for sh!ts and giggles thought I'd ask if they have any organic meat (not that I thought they did), but he said they had chicken (gasp!), so I bought some. I couldn't believe it. We've got a soon to be four year old boy and I used to bike with him a lot on the back of my bike but he's too big for that now, so we're driving a lot of places where we can bike. So I'm going to get one of those bike trailer things - not the one they just sit in and get pulled, but the one that has pedals and a wheel and a seat so they can pedal too.
  17. OMG you guys are so funny this morning! Can you stand it, where we were last year at this time? and now share tmi with each other all the time, which is just friends talking and not really TMI anymore... LOL Well, just got a call from my guy at the agency - they are finishing up paperwork and wanted to make sure I was interested... I told him how excited I am so I should know today or Monday when my start date is! what a great week, this is my year... oh and the Y is right around the corner so I can workout on my way in or lunch or way home !
  18. So glad you didn't say pussy cat, cause that'd be wayyyyy TMI for Michelle.

Great topic! We recycle everything our county takes, compost our produce trimmings, and instead of driving himself 80 miles to work, my husband bikes 15 min to the bus station, takes the bus to the ferry, then walks from the ferry to his job. I drive the kids around in our 45mpg civic hybrid. For cleaning, instead of paper towels or sponges (I'm a microbiologist and I hate sponges!!!) we use cleaning cloths that we can wash. Same for mops - cloth covers on a flat surface mop. I got both from The Clean Team. - Efficient Housecleaning and Environmentally Friendly Cleaners, but some types of fabric rags would work well, I imagine. After using cloth diapers on my children, at the risk of TMI, I switched to cloth menstrual pads. They're much more comfortable than the paper ones. We're building a house and using as many energy saving techniques and technologies as we can afford. We wanted to use a geothermal heat pump, but they're too expensive at this point, so we're using an air source heat pump instead. The house has many passive solar features. All the lighting will be CFL or LED. The flooring will be sustainably harvested bamboo and cork. The fridge, washer, and dishwasher will be energy star certified, and we'll have an energy-saving induction cooktop. There's a root cellar for passive cooling so we can store more of the veggies we hope to grow in a year or two. Another thing we've done that has been really worthwhile for our family is joining a CSA - community supported agriculture - a share farm. We pay for a share of produce from a small local farm, giving the farmer the surety of a paid crop and giving us lots of organic produce and eggs for half the year. We buy natural meat and some fish from local people plus we're lucky that my parents have a small non-commercial oyster farm and also catch dungeoness crab and are willing to share. We belong to a food co-op to reduce the overhead on other grocery items. We found freecycle.org before we moved from MD to WA and it was fun meeting people who could use the things we found to be surplus for our new lives. We enjoy finding new ways to save energy, reduce/reuse/recycle, and buy locally, and we're always looking for new ideas, so I'm avidly reading this thread!

    June 2007 Bandsters

Stef - LAY OFF THE AMBIEN! Lol. Seriously, girl, be careful! You could get choked sleepeating...or maybe aspirate while PBing and you could seriously injure yourself or die. I'm worried for you. I know, I'm a nurse and a worrywart, its a bad combo. OK. So, my band is a fickle lil biotch. The other day I could eat pizza and about anything else I could shovel in. And the past couple days I get stuck easily... and today I slime on my protein shake this morning... at lunch I only ate about 4 small bites of veggie chili... and dinner was about 1/4 cup of left over pasta from the other day - which I got stuck and slimed for about an hour on. So here is my question, might be TMI, but I'll talk about anything... I'm on my period. Would that affect my band at all? Maybe I should know this, but I have no clue. This is my first period in 18 months. (Yay PCOS!) So yeah, I'm wondering if you all notice restriction changes during your periods? Maybe I'm just grasping at straws here, Lol. I think I am going to still go to my fill appt on Monday afternoon... I'll get an 'official' weight and talk to the NP about this stuff. She'll be excited I'm menstrating anyway. She's not heard of anyone to not have a period for so long, and here I thought it was common for obese women to not menstrate, especially women with PCOS. ?? Not that I care, I'd prefer to never have a periord - ever ever ever again. Lol. Oy.

    Loose skin???!!?!?!?!

Forgive me, but you are hilarious, I love the humor. When I lost 100 pounds 5 years ago by starving (i lost it in about a year) i toned up alot by circuit training at this place called shapes (like a curves, ugh, I used to work there, they so money-hungry). And I had no loose skin at all. (Although I did gain that weight back, and then some, it was cause i did it wrong, duh, I was all about image, doing whatever it took to be accepted, when I was thin, I still wasn't!) Now I'm older, wiser and much happier, working on losing weight for health, to live for my family. (Such a foriegn idea back then). So I think, "skin happens", is a good outlook, I just hope I o not look like the saggy baggy elephant this time around! ( you remember him?!?) After having a baby, I was shocked to see I had a lower belly that stuck out farther than my butt, eek, TMI, I know! And if it kills me enough that I want to pay about $10,000 for a tummy tuck instead of buying a house, or something really awesome for my family...well, forget it, I wouldn't o that anyways.

    Victorious Valentines Debut!!!!

Sorry to all of you who are sick....BUMMER!! Patti...you and I have the same surgery date. I go for my pre-op appt tomorrow as well. I guess if you're gonna get sick before is better than after. I can't imagine it will feel to good to be coughing after surgery. Hang in there everyone and try to get some rest!! I don't have a cold but I'm dealing with some WICKED constipation (sorry if TMI). Ugh.....it's awful. I powered down some Chinese Dieters Tea...powerful stuff. Hopefully that will "move things along". All this Protein can be a rough one on the digestive system!! Amy

August Bandsters How are you Doing So Far

Salsa, you're kicking butt!!! I'm so impressed that you're running!!! Maybe I'll be up to that when I get down in Onederland myself (if my feet get happier). I had a great bellydance class last night. I've managed to finally master a step that I've struggled with for over a year, so the teacher is pushing us all by practicing that step for LONG periods of time. My hips and thighs were really feeling it when I got home, so I know I got some serious toning done. What I'm noticing is how much easier things are for me, and I actually can do some of the moves on my toes without my feet screaming in pain. That's HUGE! What really got me giggling last week is that I did a "vibration" naked last week (was goofing around while getting dressed). I know I've got the move down, but it's bizarre seeing it without the clothes to cover things. I literally had "waves" of vibration traveling everywhere - what a hoot! I know, probably mega-TMI but it did amuse me quite a bit. I'll probably have to relearn moves as I get smaller because I won't be able to rely on my jiggly bits making the appearance of the move and will have to use the muscles more. Anyway, good work everyone! Keep that motivation rolling!
