  1. Thanks for asking. It went really well. Surgery took 3 hours. I had lipo to my outer, inner, posterior thighs and knees and lower abdomen and a pubic lift. The pain only lasted about 3 days. I am 12 days post op today and I actually did 30 minutes on my elliptical machine today (even though the dr told me to wait another week). The brusing was horrible, but is getting better. The swelling hasn't been too bad so far. I can already see improvement. I just hope I don't have too much sagging when the swelling goes away. I don't think I'm going to be satisfied with the pubic lift though. I had some excess skin from my tummy tuck that I was hoping he would remove and he ran out of time. I'll wait 6 months to see what it looks like and I may consider a revision if I don't like it.

    How are you doing?

  2. Hey there I see you just did you lapband recently. How are you holding up? How was the surgery? I have my first apt to get the ball rolling next week. I am very nervous about the surgery part....

  3. GOOD LUCK!!! Just remember to FOLLOW THE PLAN!!! I have been off for a week have have gained close to 10 lbs back!! JUST WATCH YOUR EATING AND REST :)

  4. hey Jen! Thanks for the words of comfort! Surgery date rescheduled for 3/18/10...still nervous and yes I do have someone to hold my hand. Do you remember how long you were in the OR?

  5. Thanks! I hit a 3-day plateau on the pre-surgery diet and was in a panic but down 2.2 lbs this morning so all is well - can't wait! Where are you getting it done?

  6. From one Cindy to another...

I just found this group and I too live in south Jersey.

I started this process about a month ago and this Tuesday I have the last of my pre-op requirements at Temple. I already met with the surgeon. I then have to wait a couple of weeks for them to submit my file for insurance approval. Unlike a lot of what I read on the blogs, Temple won't schedule the surgery until after everything is submitted. I can't wait to have a firm date...hoping for April.

Anyway, I think it would be great to have someone to talk to through this process.

    Hope to hear back.

    Cindy

  7. Hi Ellen,

I'm so sorry, I just saw that my response from before didn't post. I'm doing great, between 8-18 pounds away from my ideal weight for my height according to Dr. McVay, but if I choose I could lose more. So, that's exciting. I've lost 87 pounds so far. My birthday is coming up on the 23d so my parents are flying in for 2 weeks...they arrive this coming Wednesday, I can't wait!!

  8. Thank You :smile2: How did your surgery go? good I hope. Are you on liquids still? I am for another week I can't wait to be off liquids. Hope your feeling good.

  9. Hi Jasmine, I am having mine on 26th March, will be flying out 2 weeks today! Can't wait, and yes indeedy we can support each other. C x

  11. Thats good, hopefully you can get in in the morning too! I found out i have to be there at 7:30 am now, but i live like 3 minutes away.

so i had my blood work today. i had an EKG last week at my other doctors, so they didnt have to do that again. but i did the chest x ray and gave blood. they had to poke me 3 times! ouch. each arm then one hand. they just couldnt get any blood out of me lol. but im glad all of that is over with. I didnt have to pay anything and they didnt mention anything about pain medicine yet. i guess my mom will take care of that while im in surgery.

    im so hungry btw lol.

  12. Hey, we were banded the same day! I am still on liquids until next Tuesday the 16th. I am alright with it right now since I get full after 1/3 of a can of cream of chicken soup. I was not prepared for the pain in my port site but it is getting better. How is your recovery going? Have you started back to work or workout?

  13. OK ... MY turn for a kick in the ass... Can youhelp me out??? LOL Not sure why, But my motivation is ZIP this past week. Not really caring what I eat. And eating until I puke, then eating some more... Have you ever done that? Man, i just dont get it. Maybe I'm more frustrated with my month long plateau than I realized?? Tell me how well you're doing! That should get me motivated again :-)

  19. Glad your feeling better. I am still sore around my belly button where my port is placed and JUST found out that i am extra sore due to the doctor not informing me or my cousin who was at the hospital to pick me up that I had a hernia repair. I found that out by looking at my claims....since I work at Anthem I am able to see the claims first hand. Anyway, I am on regular foods. I only was instructed to do liquid for 24 hours after surgery, then a week on soft foods, then back to normal foods. I can't wait to get my 1st fill next Wednesday as I can eat a pig right now, lol! I mean I have no restrictions and I stay hungry since my band is empty and the swelling is apparently gone down.

  20. Congrats on your surgery date. I just got banded a week ago today and I can't beleive how fast the time went by. This week is going to fly right by for you too. :smile2:

  21. Hey Sharon! Surgery was relatively easy actually! I had pain around my port site for about a two weeks and had some gas pains that lasted for about a week and a half. I was up and walking within 3 hours of surgery (they wouldn't let me up sooner) and then I walked off and on all night. I had to stay overnight so I didn't have anything better to do since I couldn't get to sleep on my back!

I'm a month out now, and to be honest, I'm a lucky bandster, I'm not hungry. Haven't had a fill since I'm losing weight and can't eat over 1/2 c. of solid proteins. I stay full for 3.5 hours. I exercise 5-6 days/wk.

I spent my 6 month supervised diet learning as much about my new life as possible. I knew to succeed I had to figure out why I ate, when I ate and what to do when I couldn't eat to make myself feel better. It's going to be a lifelong journey - but well worth it!

Congratulations on starting your journey! Good luck with all your pre-surgery steps and feel free to contact me anytime!

  22. oh wow you only had to do it for a week?? When is your operation??? Clear fluids wow what can you actually count as clear fluid haha?? You have to do clear fluid before your op?

I'm nearly two weeks down on my preop diet.. and over 11.2 pounds down so far.. it's killing meeeee...

  23. Hi Laurel, How have you been this past week? I uploaded some before pictures finally. Ugh....I can't wait to get some "after" pictures. -Matilda

  24. You just did. I try to take the time to encourage others because I know that when someone takes the time to cheer me on, my flagging resolve gets a boost. So thank you. I've been enjoying your blog and your posts, by the way. It's nice to read about someone who actually did lose all their excess weight and not just stall with 30 or 40 pounds still to go. Thank you!

  25. Hi Bell. Thanks for your comments on my blog. I started working out a littl bit about 2 weeks post surgery. Just doing small things like going for long walks. About a month afterwards, I joined a gym and started working out more frequently. I had a workout buddy in the beginning, so that made it easier. She has stopped going as often, but I still work out all the time; however, having her in the beginning helped give me the push I need.
