Two Nsv's - One Work-Related And Signifigant!
Pennie replied to Pookeyism's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Wow - you have an amazingly physical job. That would be extremely tough for anyone in the BEST of shape. Congratulations on your huge NSV with work!! I've heard other people say they lost shoe sizes. I only lost width, not length. You might be right that there is something about the arch. If your arch is higher now (due to less weight pressing it down) it would make sense that it would draw the foot up and in a bit, which would result in less length. Very interesting! Congrats on the foot front too! -
Two Nsv's - One Work-Related And Signifigant!
Pookeyism posted a topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Two separate NSV's... 1) I work in an office but I also have to go out ito our warehouse area where we hold our materials and stage our packing, receiving and shiping. We produce in our Indiana facility high-end specialty metal alloys - lots of molly, titatnium, colbalt, nickel alloys, etc. These things are heavy (Imagine 60 lbs in an 8"x8"x8" box) and can be 30' pipe or 1" fittings. It was inventory this weekend and every ounce of this material had to be accounted for. I am the Export Supervisor as well as Logistics Coordinator and inventory control, so I wear alot of hats. Inventory is a very crazy time for me. Normally this process KILLS me, it is too hot (It got to 99 here Saturday, which had the warehouse at about 106-110 depending on where you were. I used to not be able to tolerate the heat like that, and the warehouse is huge and DUSTY - the materials ca have 2-3 mm or better of crud on them - I mean crud, not dust - Houston creates moist crud, not dust! lol. ACED IT! I had stamina, the allergies were there and bad but tolerateable, and I was able to get into nooks and crannies and in and out of tight spots - OMG! I bet I contributed to us being done in at least 2 hours or better than we would have, simply by being able to get in there an dlook around better. 2) I have apparently dropped at least a width and a whole shoe size. This happened when I went to get a new pair of work boots, and again with a pair of summer hiking sandals...Hubby was shocked....he was like - your feet are tiny! Well, size 8 normal width, which I guess is tiny for me. I did not know it was possible for your foot to get shorter! Will have to look that up! Maybe it has something to do with the arch, or the weight bearing on the foot. -
tips to keep a stall from bumming you out?
Kindle replied to tiredmama's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
The best way to avoid stalls is to continue to follow your meal plan and STAY OFF THE SCALE!!!! Seriously, if you don't weigh, you won't be subjected to depression from the stupid numbers that don't really mean anything. Measure your success by how you feel and NSVs because those are the things that matter. If you follow the plan you will be successful. Or, you can just keep stepping on the scale everyday and keep making yourself miserable. -

My First Rollercoaster Ride In About 18 Years...
makemyownluck replied to LilMissDiva Irene's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Besides being embarrassed by not fitting in a roller coaster, I actually went car shopping and couldn't strap on a seat belt in one car and barely fit behind the wheel in another. TALK ABOUT EMBARRASSING. I feel your pain!! that said, I'm super jealous you got to take those rides. when I was a kid, I used to absolutely LOVE roller coasters! such an inspiration that you're still having nsv's 2 years later. that's so awesome!! -

When I went to the endocrinologist back in March, she told me that I would be put on cholesterol meds next visit and that insulin was also going to be a possibility. At that time I still hadnt gotten definite approval (after all my denials)for my surgery so I didnt say anything to her about it. Didnt want to jinx it before it was scheduled!! Well, today was my "next visit" and my cholesterol and triglycerides were now PERFECT!!!!! My A1C was 9.0 in March & today it is 7.7. When it gets to 6.5 I am officially no longer diabetic!! So no cholesterol meds, and I have gone from 4 glyburide a day to now only 1/4 of a 5mg tablet at bedtime only!! Thats it, a quarter of a pill 1 time a day!! That is for the next 2-3 weeks & then I can stop all diabetes meds completely!! In March I weighed 239, today I was 205!!!! Almost to ONEDERLAND!!! I am so psyched!! Finally I have a tool that is ging to help me be forever successful!!:cool2::w00t:

Rode any ride I wanted without fear of being too big. Walked over 10 miles while at the park and my feet did not hurt. Was able to walk through turnstiles head-on instead of turning sideways. Did not succumb to eating junk while in the park and found healthy options. It is definitely now officially the happiest place on earth!

First and foremost--- MY WEDDING DRESS FITS!!!!!! I'm engaged. The wedding was planned for 2006 in Hawaii. Then my hubby's mom got sick and was in hospital. So we postponed the wedding ( and decided to start trying for a baby- I wanted to have kids earlier in life). Then she passed away while I was pregnant with her first grandchild. Life went on and the wedding has always been on the back burner. We now have 2 little monsters we love to death. Now- keep in mind- the dress never actually fit me before. I was going to " lose a little more" before the wedding. Instead I ballooned out. But it fits now!!! Yay!!! And I still love it!!! I took a couple pics, but I can't find the cord to attach it to the computer : ( I'm a baker by trade. I was always exhausted by end of day. It's a very physical job. Now I fly through a shift faster and more efficient. I don't even break a sweat while working in the ovens!!! And believe me, those be some damn hot ovens!!! In a 2 day timeline, I had 8 ( yes 8) people comment on my weighloss and how great I look. It's simply awsome : ) I'm training for a half marathon and run a 5k 4-5 days a week. When i take my heartrate, it used to go high and stay high when i work out. Now it doesnt go as high and drops back down to a good resting rate quickly. Once I can get my time alittle better, I'll add more distance. But I'm so proud of what I'm doing. One of the best parts is that my body isn't so sore like it used to be after a workout. I guess it's just recovering better? I biggest nsv to date is my attitude. I'm so much of a happier person now. I think alot of it, is just not being so tired all the time, and sore from carrying an extra 80 lbs around, and I'm not ashamed of what I've become anymore. I'm proud to be me now : )

Back in Onderland...barely! LOL
cinward2001 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
199.8 this morning. LOL scales definitely aren't "flying" downward like I hear with some new sleevers, but that's (mostly) ok. I think we all want to lose weight as quickly as possible, even when it's not realistic. If I weren't still trying to stick to full liquids/puree (essentially the same thing with my docs office), I wouldn't feel like I had a sleeve at all. No difficulty drinking, haven't had trouble with anything that I've tried, no nausea, soreness, etc. I'm hungry, too, but I'm hoping that will change once I start eating solids. On the NSV side of things, my pants have definitely gotten looser! I worked a big bike race yesterday and although it sucked to be in full police uniform directing traffic for 12 hrs, it was nice to have loose pants while doing it. No complaints (so far and knock on wood!) about the sleeve! I didn't weigh at home before going to MX, but I'm guessing I've lost 12-15 lbs since surgery (2 weeks ago). I've NEVER lost an average of 6 lbs in one week before and now, the scales will be going back in the closet! LOL I'll weigh again in 2 weeks, maybe a month, or, if I can stand it , 6 weeks. Until then, I'll try to make the best choices I can with soft foods (start those tomorrow) and keeping the calories down, but emotionally, I do better without those scale numbers. Cindy -
So tonight I played my Xbox kinect (haven't played since before surgery)....it takes pics of u during play and (unlike before surgery) the pics were not disgusting!! This may sound silly but before when I played I hated seeing them and deleted them ASAP but tonight I was liking looking at them and seeing such a difference!! 45 lbs since 3-1-12 woohoo!!!!

I have a non scale victory i wish to share. I am super big into our local Scouting Organization. I am a Cub Master and an Asst Scout Master. I have had to buy a 3x shirt to wear and was not able to button the shirt completely and would have to pull it over my hips just to get it to button half way decent. I normally wore and over shirt to hide too. Well last night my Asst Cub master came to me and asked me how much i have lost. i said total between 35 - 40 pounds. he said it was showing because he had told his wife the night before after our boyscout meeting that he saw me with my shirt completely buttoned and was covering my hips. (i did not have it tucked in because we were putting up tents doing a check.) I was shocked because i also realized at the point he was right. Normally my shirt would be have the last button unbuttoned and would be sitting on top of my posterior because it would not lay down flat outside or inside my pants. We may at times never see reflections in the scale as far a weight dropping but our bodies are changing. the things we never would realize anyone would pay attention to people notice and that really makes us feel good. Good luck to everyone! I hope everyone has a NSV today!

YEAH!!!! Congratulations! That must feel wonderful. I love NSV's like these. Keep up the outstanding job! -
Now that I am so close to my goal of 150 I have developed new habits lol one of which will probably be bad eventually lol but hell I went years without bcuz of my weight. My addictions are shopping for new clothes and shoes and crossing my legs!! Lol I have been to the mall everyday this week!!! Lol I am very cost conscience bcuz I only hit the clearance racks and deals in shoes. So I haven't spent to much but I have spoiled myself. But my bday is dec 23 and I'm finished Xmas shoppin for the family already. And I have no clothes now since I have lost 76lbs. Now that I don't have so much extra weight I can now wear the heels I've been wanting to wear! It feels so good to shop on the clearance rack and always find ur size!! Now the crossing legs addiction...I LOVE IT!!! I haven't been able to cross my legs in years!!! Now that I can do with ease I can't help but to always sit like that now! I think it's so sexy and I feel sooooo sexy!!! This surgery was the best thing I cud have ever done for myself and my family and I hope anyone that is thinking about this surgery will definitely get it!!! IT'S SOOO WORTH IT!!!!

What was your most recent NSV? (non-scale victory)
VSGAnn2014 replied to tamg26k's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
This is an oldie-but-goldie thread. Really worth reading for inspiration. My recent non-scale victories (NSVs) include mostly clothing victories. I now wear (mostly): * Size 4s in jeans and slacks. It's just freaky! * Size smalls in jackets, coats and other random pieces Occasionally, the size that fits me best is Petite Small or even a size 2. I cannot fathom how that works, since I'm 5'5" and weigh 138 pounds. Boy, bodies are weird. But I'm a big fat sucker for single digit sizes. -
What was your most recent NSV? (non-scale victory)
gowalking replied to tamg26k's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Was at my son and DIL last night for dinner and to see the nursery furniture they got for my newest grandchild due in April. The crib has the changing table attached and it's a big piece of furniture. The space between the crib and the dresser is a bit narrow so I suggested they might want to rearrange some things and my son said there was no reason to since we were all pretty skinny and wouldn't have any problems maneuvering. I looked at that space and said a silent prayer of thanks because I know that two years ago, I might not have been able to squeeze past so easily. Oh...and a dinner NSV as well. I knew which plate was mine when I saw how much food was on it. My DIL is getting used to mom sized portions and knows how much I eat Loving the new normal for sure. -

I can remember after my Mom's WLS, when she first got down to a size 14, she said she wanted to wear the pants inside out so that everyone could see the tag! Now she's a size 10! Congrats on the NSV, lot's more to come! -
