  1. I like Premier protein vanilla with a bit of strawberry Mio squirted into it. I also like the Premier chocolate and chocolate Muscle milk. I add a little Genepro to the muscle milk as it doesn't have quite enough protein in it. Get a milk frother from Ikea to mix genepro into any liquids you enjoy.

    Complications

Hey, just wondering if you've had any blood work done while using Genepro? I'm 12 days out and struggling to get all my protein in without getting sick. I've seen all the controversy about it but went and bought some from GNC tonight and I'm actually tolerating it in some Crystal light.

    Body Fortress

I haven't used that one. But I did like ATKINS, Rich, and Dark Chocolate MYOPLEX. But a good nonflavored protein is GENEPRO. You can mix it with anything you want to, I put it in my Espresso every day. It is a good nonflavored protein, in fact, it is the only one that I have tried that didn't have any flavor at all. Good Luck.

    Best Unflavored Protein Powder?

I have no recommendation for unflavored protein powder, just about anything is decent as long as it is not Genepro. They were just recently successfully sued for their misleading marketing practices. There is not 30 grams of protein in a serving. They used to say that magically compressed the protein then they changed their story to say that it is the equivalent of 30 grams of protein because of the rapid absorption. Here is a better post about it because I don't feel like typing it out all over again"

    Best Unflavored Protein Powder?

I agree genepro. I found it on a recommendation almost a year ago on this site. If you do a search of unflavored protein powder you will be able to read recommendations from other sleevers on this site. Good luck.

    Best Unflavored Protein Powder?

Genepro! It has more protein (30g) and only 1 spoon instead of 2 spoons for isopure and isopure has less protein...all personal preference though.

    Protein Drink Evaluations

I often see the question, "What's the best protein (powder/shake/bar)? The answer is always the one that you will use. I don't remember if I tried Inspire or not, but I personally really like Gold Standard. I'll recommend it to anyone, but in the end it comes down to personal preference. Except for Genepro. It's just crap.
  8. Hello everyone, I am a bit over 2 weeks out and struggling with the Stage 2! My surgeon ok'd me for protein shake, yogurt, pudding, soup, cottage cheese and ricotta- but no scrambled eggs or chicken etc yet. I am lost- have no idea how to spice it up and am getting really bored. I live on ricotta bake, oatmeal with genepro and protein shakes for now. Help!

    Isopure Unflavored Protein

I used PREMIERPROTEIN DRINKS for my 2-week pre op and then my 4-week postop. I had "THE BACKDOOR TROTS" so bad I couldn't leave the house!! If I went anywhere there had better be a bathroom available. Also, I had the hugest pad made on. Come to find out I am Lactose Intolerant. But I wasn't advised of this until I had finished it all. Nice Dr, I had!! Now it is the GENEPRO unflavored all the way. I use it in my Espresso every day. Before you decide to try it read the good bad and ugly on it. There are some who don't believe in what they claim. Good Luck finding one that agrees with you.

What if GENEPRO Protein and Coffee had a baby?

How well I know about this!! I have used and continue to use GENEPRO, but I got told and they tried to put me in my place about it not being possible. When I stated that BARIATRICPAL sold it they said it is a money maker!! Any how I am going to try this I love my coffee which I add to my espresso every day. So for me it is a win win!!

What if GENEPRO Protein and Coffee had a baby?

I myself am a user and a big fan of Genepro, but anyone considering using it should be aware it is somewhat controversial. They have been sued for making claims that some say are physically impossible. Google for yourself and research.

    Protein powder question

My favorite is Unjury. My doc wants the meal replacement/shake to have at least 25g of protein per serving but Unjury Unflavored has 21 and I received a 👍 to use it. I seem to be OK as long as I don't have to smell it while drinking. I have held my nose at times. SMH! BUT with Unjury it does not seem to cause me problems. What is Genepro and its controversy?

    Protein powder question

I know there is a lot of controversy over it, but I swear by Genepro. It was recommended by my Dr. and Nut. Sent from my LG-LS993 using BariatricPal mobile app

kind of late to reply, but thought i would try...saw genepro in gnc today, and was trying to find info....any updates, new users, or reviews?

I like genepro because it is unflavored and dissolves easily- there's some controversy that it's not as much protein as stated but my doc, nutritionist and hospital all say it's good so I still use it. Thanks for the reminder - I keep forgetting to add it to my food! Cottage cheese is good and I've been enjoying chicken salad and tuna fish. Mich W Hw 223, SW 217 CW 194 GW 135

    Protein intake question

I am 4 post of RNY, I can't tolerate the pre-made protein shakes or the super sweet powders. I help meet my requirements by: *1 cup Low Fat Fairlife Milk (13 grams or protein, 80 calories) + 2 scoops Genepro (pkg says 1 scoop = 30grams of protein, but I only count it as 15 and 58 calories). Thats 43 grams of protein in an 8 ounce cup of milk. I warm it up, and add a splash of sugar free vanilla or caramel syrup, resembles a sugar free steamed milk from starbucks. *2 scoops of Genepro unflavored protein powder in an 8 ounce glass of decaf hot tea, my favorite is the celestial seasons, Blueberry and Mixed Berry. Note: If you go the warm route, you will need a small thermometer to make sure your water/milk is no more than 125 degrees or the powder will get a weird texture....anything less and it mixes in completely...mildest protein taste I have found so far.
  20. I have Unjury chicken flavor. I also use Genepro (unflavored) and I have mixed that with beef consume. You can't heat it to hot, but using tempering it gets hot enough. I am on day two of 10 of the pre-op diet, and so far it has not been as bad as I expected. Hoping that continues! [emoji6] Sent from my SM-G950U using BariatricPal mobile app

JULY SLEEVERS- How are you doing?

I was sleeved the 3rd. How much food are you getting in? I just got over the 3rd week stall. The dermabond on My incisions are almost all the way gone. I honestly feel great, for the most part. My doctor told me to stay out of the heat because I will dehydrate quickly and it is so hot here. So I've tried my exercise bike, but the large incision hurts when I do that. So hopefully that will heal up soon. There is a very large knot there, where they move my inside out of the way and it feels horrible to put pressure on. I am able to sleep on my stomach again and it is the best. I get down food pretty good. Not so much the shakes though. So I try to get in one a day, with a scoop of genepro and benefiber mixed in. My diet that the nutritionist gave me said that I should be getting in 3 meals, two snacks. And the meals should be like 2-4 tbsp. Sometimes it is easy to get in those 4 tbsp. Depending on what I eat. For example, I just ate some tofu and it was super easy to get down. Other times, 2 tbsp of tuna is hard. And a boiled egg is tough too. It feels like the egg just stays in my throat.

    Clear liquids

Mine is Tuesday, Aug 1 also. I started mine on Thursday. Had an awful headache all day. Not use to a lot of sweats and although they don't taste bad, 3 Premier Protein shakes a day was too much, Broth was good. I used home-canned turkey-vegetable broth. You can flavor up plain broth with spices. Since I am only required to do liquid only on Monday, chicken breast just to eat I received my genepro 2 I ordered and tried with my broth. For me, it worked just as claimed (maybe a slight tinge of smell) but it did dissolve completely in broth when prepared as directed first. Made the liquid diet easy now. I've done fine with not eating. Knowing this is just temporary and I will eat again is not a problem. I cook for my family and no temptation. Just have to remember NOT to taste out of habit. I did have an hour last night when I suddenly became extremely nervous and questioning if I was doing the right thing, but I got on here and read and calmed myself. I'm excited and scared(a little) but, it this is for my health. Praying for no complications because I am a self-pay with no coverage for complications.

    Gained 2 pounds!

Well said PAstudent!! I wonder if your Surgeon or Nutronist has given you any guidelines? It is a work in progress, you HAVE too do the work. If you want to be successful track your food. Did your Dr say you can eat solid foods? Yu are just 1 month out, I had the RNY and I had to do Protein Drinks for 4 weeks after surgery. Then I went to soft blended foods. But to tell you the truth I was to scared to eat at all. I still use my GENEPRO protein with my espresso everyday to help me get my protein in. Hon, protein helps ud heal. Please work on getting the amount that you were told to do, also drink lots of fluids because with surgery our pouches can't hold much at a time and you don't want to become dehydrated. That is a whole another dilemma. Take care and keep us posted. If I can help in anyy way just ask.

    Best flavorless protein powder?

I hesitate to even say this. I got some back talk from talking about it before. But...I have tried many proteins and couldn't do them. Until I found GENEPRO I add it to my Espresso everyday. Some say that it isn't good because they say it has 30grams of protein in 1 tablespoon. Even Bariatric store on here sells it. I buy my on line. If you are worrid about it ask your Dr first. It is the only unflavored protein I have found that mixes well and doesn't taste bad. Good Luck

    July 17th

Hi Folks. I was sleeved 7/17. Just started puree and tried to eat in a restaurant. Tried to puree in my mouth. That didn't work. I'm having trouble getting water in. With you on the genepro I can taste and I'm so tired of it. I'm trying to go fully natural on puréed so I don't have to have shakes. I'm so tired of sickly sweet things. I've always struggled getting enough protein. Excited to be on this journey with you all. Eman
