Liquid diet begins....
apmcleish replied to apmcleish's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Not TMI and YESsss. I had four days of straight liquid BM. It was miserable. Now it's tapered off and nothing is happening but I'm on day 6. I am starting to not feel hungry at all which I never thought the day would come. But I'm forcing liquids and broths down. One more week for me.... That's what I keep telling myself. I would for sure call the Dr just to check in if you're feeling uncomfortable about what's happening or you have questions. My office has told me a billion times call with questions, and they keep calling me to see if I have any. LOL. I hope this helps!! Ashlie M Sent from my iPhone -
anyone with chronic constipation? TMI ALERT
allisondiaz posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Okay, I was banded on 7-15-09 and I already suffer from chronic constipation. I know that this surgery can cause constipation and my surgeons advice is MOM. Well, I tried this and it made me vomit. Not going there again. I've seen some people say that they use benefiber and it helps. Did any of you suffer prior to surgery with this condition? Just wondering, today is the first day I've been able to "go" since the Saturday before surgery and even that was laxative induced. Thanks for the help. Sorry for the gross specifics:eek: -
Are you getting in plenty of Water? I noticed things have changed for me but I think it is from such low intake. BM's are not as frequent and the volume is very small, like a small child (sorry if TMI). It might be just find if it resolves itself over a day or two and you are not having symptoms.

Hi. I had surgery on 09/25 and my surgeon did say that we would notice a difference in our BM since we are not taking in as much. He just said to make sure that I keep getting my fluids in. He also recommended Miralax IF constipation seemed to be a problem. He said that our BM should basically follow our amount of intake. Not much going in, not much is going to come back out (sorry if that is TMI).

First Dumping
oldoneyoungagain replied to Mid West's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just came home from work after two hours. Major dumping, used all my breaktime for the first half of the day within one hour after I got to work. Here is the kicker, my normal Breakfast, decaf coffee with Protein, so haven't a clue if I might be coming down with a bug (was exposed to the flu a week or so ago, but got a flu shot). I don't get shakey, or get the sweats, but major diarrhea (Sp) this morning and a rolling stomach. I'm use to dumping, as have had it with my diabetes for years, but since bypass I'm doing good if I go every other day, but I have discomfort with the colon now. Like it isn't use to the muscles pushing or straining. Since I am use to dumping, I'm somewhat glad when I have it. Constipation was never a problem with me, and that is how I feel now since I have to from 1-7 times a day to maybe once every two-three days. This might be TMI, but totally amazed how our body changes with the bypass. -

Suddenly Single... now what?
dramagirl28 replied to dramagirl28's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you guys so much for the support. I can't imagine doing this without him. He has never had trouble with weight but somehow always knew exactly what to say. When he said I was beautiful, I actually believed him. I have a lot of work to do on myself. I know WLS is right for me but it seems so scary now. I've been prepping for it since October of last year, all in the context of our relationship and our future. I'm going to be getting my surgery date in the next week or two and I know that will really set things in motion and I feel like I'm struggling to put this in the new context of my life without him (which I can't even imagine right now). Breakups suck in general. I really didn't need this added complication. I think it will only emphasize how alone I am. The funny thing is that since he broke up with me I haven't been able to eat anything really. Just thinking about the smell of food made me sick to my stomach. When I did manage to convince myself to put something in my mouth, I couldn't bear the taste or texture. I was so hungry but so sick to my stomach. I turned to Protein shakes just to quiet the rumbling and to get in some nourishment. I kept thinking "get used to this--this is what it's going to be like post-op!" Today is the first day I haven't thrown up due to stress (tmi?) and I was actually able to eat two decent meals. Anyway, thanks for listen to me ramble. My friends and family have been supportive about the breakup but this element of it needed some specialized attention. -
definitely won brownie points!!! lol... see i knew there where more of you guys out there than the handful that i see posting...... Not TMI at all.. congrats that you are so close.. you are gonna love your sleeve. depending on how much you have to lose it may take time, but im sure you will do great! just stick to the program, don't get me wrong it aint gonna be easy and you are probably gonna stall like every other person, lol, but at least u will have the awesome support of this group to keep you on track!!!!

I be here too. I'm about a month pre-op and having the preparatory tests done. Sleep study, scope down the throat, counseling, ultrasound. I think my surgeon has ordered evry single test possible for me! He is on record as reccomending a RNY, but the more I read about the sleeve, the more I am definately going with it. I have a high BMI and am afraid that I won't get to where I want to be. (Thin) I am so sick of being fit and all of the crap that comes along with it that I want to get down to almost skinny. I want to be able to walk and walk and walk. So sick of being almost disabled. Ahh, TMI you say? OK, getting off my soap box.

Shoulder pain after surgery
dargar27 replied to stellasmommy's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I know this will sound odd, and it might be TMI, but when I had my C Section I had similar pain. It was awful, achy, and truly kept me awake at night. The nurse gave me some great advice that honestly helped. Lay down on your bed on your tummy and stick your booty up in the air sort of like a baby would sleep, you know? Rock back and forth and just stay there in that position for awhile. The nurse explained that the gas has no place to go, so by sticking your booty in the air, it helps give it another place to go and will relieve the pressure off your neck and shoulders. Sounds totally weird but it really did help me, at least I think so...lol Can't hurt to try, right? Good luck! -
This Might Be Inappropriate!
Fallenangel2904 replied to futureskinnypants's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Haha I love this question (I can't help it, I'm slightly inappropriate as it is) lol. Well I don't know about the inner workings changing...but I've been a fat girl forever, and I've noticed a common 'trait' if you will among big girls is a large 'mons pubis' - yes it's gonna get a little TMI- sorry boys! The mon pubis is that area where the pubic hair grows, and in a lot of big girls that part Is more fatty then regular size woman. I've always had an extra fatty bit down there. When I was younger I thought I was a freak of nature until I met other big girls and was able to compare notes lol. But that area will likely go down after weight loss from what I've heard (I'm pre op also so this is only hear say lol) I've heard that some ladies don't actually loose that fat pad much and wind up needing pubic liposuction (yes that's a thing lol) I'm hoping I loose some of it because in scared it will be noticeable and stick out and people may think I'm 'packing heat' or something LOL this whole ost was TMI, my appologies lol -
TMI Question...that may not make sense!
LeslesLosingIt posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ok, so I have a serious question but I want y'all opinion before I call my surgeon and he laughs at me! I am getting kind of sick, running nose, etc. The issue is I have a lot of drainage down the back of my throat, and it's going to my stomach I assume (? not a doctor here). Anyway, could this be causing my nausea? I haven't had any at all before now, and this morning I ate what I always do and got extremely nauseas, tonight I had one bite of something I eat all the time (just turkey lunch meat wrapped around a cheese stick) and the same thing happened. No fever or anything. Could this be causing it?? I don't wanna call him and look like an idiot if I don't have to! -
TMI can I take ex lax I just bought from Pharmacy if I can how many can I take I can’t take any other stuffs that’s help me go bathroom

Oh and might I add that I have been having a small TMI moment in these quests to better my running. Sometimes during the run I feel the need to take a dump (sorry for the guttural description). I wish this did not happen and hope some others have a solution. I do try and take care of daily BM hours before running. However, nature calls again during the run. Maybe it is the pre workout drink? Don't know.

Hello from sunny San Diego! When last you heard from me I was a ball of anxiety, preparing to leave Iraq. That was three weeks ago. Since then I did indeed leave Iraq, proceed through the aggravating Army redeployment process, cross the country (seeing friends and family along the way), and finally drove from Colorado to California, where I am now. Now I am with a dear friend helping her out with her newborn. My eating has been disordered of course, and unconscious anxieties about returning home etc. have manifested themselves in carb & chocolate indulgences that may or may not have turned into 3 lbs. Travelling (tmi alert) always makes me super constipated though so that might just be fake pounds, a couple of courses of miralax will tell. =P I am in the two-oh's though, I thought I was even 201 the other day but today it says 205, which may be the snickers (yeah I know I know) talking. This is a healing process, coming home, and way more difficult than leaving home. I actually bought a dress in the regular women's department at Target the other day - xxl of course, but still! It is a little thin cotton sundress with a deep v neck that I wore with a tiny amethyst cardigan and little silver strap wedgie sandals. It was the first time I had worn a short (knee length) dress in 12 years. Very strange. A lot to process. So I leave here soon and will travel northward to the bay area where I will settle down for 2+ months of quiet living, I will reconnect with my food, my exercise, my self. Here's hoping those months find me slipping under the 200 lb. equator and sailing toward goal. =)

Hi all. Man here. I got banded on 3/12 and had my first fill this past Monday with 3cc added. I had some initial restriction after I had the procedure but after a few weeks I noticed I was able to eat respectable amounts that weren’t going to allow me to lose any additional weight. I can definitely tell I have more restriction now after my fill but I am having a hard time determining if what I am feeling is food getting stuck or if this is my “new full”. After I eat I notice it feels like food is backing up in my esophagus and my chest gets real tight…is this my new full?? This may be TMI but I even feel like I could probably bring the food up if I had to and being on the verge of throwing it up if I take another bite. If I take this as my queue to stop eating and once the food has time to “drain through the funnel” I find myself feeling hungry again pretty quick. I had a bowl of chicken noodle Soup for lunch today with a fat free pudding and felt very satisfied at the time but now I feel very hungry! Am I not eating enough? Do I need to try eating more at meal time but just more slowly? Am I not chewing thoroughly? I appreciate any feedback. Thanks.

Hi All, I am sorry for this gross post but need some opinions and rather not ask people I know in real life I am 3.5 weeks sleeved and am suffering from constipation the last few days. Yesterday I went to the bathroom (just a tiny bit) and the rest is just stuck. I really feel like there is this one really hard piece of poop that is stuck there and won't come out. If I could just get passed that one piece everything else will start moving. I've been drinking a lot Water and yesterday ate sweet potatoes and bananas (still on puréed). I haven't gone to any stool softener yet because 1 I think I only need help with that one piece that's almost out. So not sure that it will help? 2. Scared it will cause stomach cramping or dehydration. Any suggestions on what can help? My butt really hurts because it's literally trying to come out but can't. mgallagator, they repaired by band via surgery... my surgeon actually replaced my band, instead of just repositioning it, because he said there was a lot of scar tissue and my stomach had sort of "attached" to my band. (sorry if TMI... lol) Jenny

Wow! Well take care and get some rest -- you probably are very relieved! Does your insurance pay for that? Sorry, it's not TMI, I can deal.

Finally got my surgery date! August 17th
TLCRC3SexyMom replied to Margie122's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yeah back to work tomorrow as well. I am setting my click earlier so i can get all my vitamins in before I have to get kiddos (1 and 4) ready for school. I have only my liquid pain meds at night so I can turn over without the pain(pulling). I was shocked that I actually was asleep on my stomatch. Working on getting these liquids(water) in along with my protein shake(EAS). I was surprised that these past 2 nights I have been getting hungry. I warmed up some miso soup about less than a 1/2 cup and felt full. I tried out my cup with a straw today and I don't get gas as quickly but I still take my liquid gas -x. Honestly I would rather burp than pass gas.. (TMI sorry). Hubby goes in on 9/21 so he is watching me like like a hawk. He really has been wonderful. I am going back to the gym tomorrow so I will you guys know how that goes. Overall today was 8/10. 10=good day. This has really helped me so much. -

My surgery (RnY) is in a couple of weeks and I've never stayed in a hospital before so I have some very basic questions about what to expect. They said to bring comfortable clothes for walking around in after the surgery. I think I know what I'll bring but is one set of clothes enough if I'm expecting to stay just overnight? Will I be able to wear a bra? TMI, but my ladies are not appropriate for nor accustomed to being loose in public! Does it matter what I wear in the morning of the surgery? I assume I'll change into one of those horrible gowns when I get there and then into my comfy clothes later? Based on past questions and my clinic's instructions, I'm also bringing my phone charger, kindle, chapstick, slip-on shoes, and hairbrush. Am I missing anything super obvious? How am I supposed to bring all this stuff? Do I just show up with a backpack or something? I feel like this is so obvious and a silly thing to get anxious about but here I am lol.

it's weird . It comes and goes for me. I have had small glasses of milk and done okay. Yesterday I went to a wedding and I could not figure out what I at or drank but I sure had gas and diarrhea (sorry tmi) when I got home.
