Had another NSV today. At the mall today, looking for some summer tops. Automatically I went to the dark blouses. I stopped myself and questioned why do I have to buy such dark colors all the time. I put down the dark colors. Bought blouses in red, yellow and lilac. There's no need for me to "hide" behind those dark colors anymore. It amazing how your subconscious mind works.

Hadn't heard from you for a while but glad you're still on the active list. Happy news for you to share. My ENT weighs metric, 102 kg today, I actually weigh less than my son, diminishing a kg a week at nearly 8 months out. Had a mini-stall while on TPN, so my weight loss now less than typical but I will celebrate it. See my Bariatric Clinic on next Tuesday, hope they also will be pleased. Down almost to regular sizing, amazed at the increased selections. I think my face looks older, my smile lines show, starting to look more like my dead ancestors instead of a "moon face" . Had someone ask if that was really ME? So a strange NSV to not be readily recognized.

I know what you mean. I bought discounted end-of-season WINTER clothes (on very low-priced special pricing) at the end of the last Australian winter (July-August, 2018) ... 3XL and 2XL garments ... down from two years ago when I was 9XL/8XL sizing. As the autumn is having colder nights and much cooler mornings now in late April 2019, I am pulling this stuff out of the drawers to begin wearing it AND THEY ARE "SWIMMING" ON ME in most instances. I have dawdled to lose only about 12kg (26 pounds) in the last nine months but my upper body is more muscular. And yet, despite the seeming waste of the money, I'm pleased with the extra NSV feel of fat lower down being replaced by muscle higher up. My exercise physiologist says that my body's centre of gravity has moved UPWARDS 19mm in 9 months but that my sense of balance (which was 'terrible' before my weight-loss surgery is now "borderline excellent".

NSV - I'm weaning off my antidepressants! This is directly related to my surgery, eating better, and exercising. I have so much ENERGY and life is full of hope and potential. It's no longer a drag. I'm so excited at the possibility of being med free!

amusement parks post-op
nenes78 replied to artisticmindRN's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
One of the best NSV since surgery as being able to go to Six Flags and ride any coaster. I had not been able to go on 80% of the rides in the last 15 years because of the girth I was at. I love them just the same and they feel no different now. -
NSV- I jogged a mile without stopping! It was a slow jog but I did it!! I've always wanted to run. My thighs didn't rub together, like they used to! Soooo happy!😆👏

And what a lovely surprise to have happen, that's a blessed NSV!🙏

That's 100% a NSV. I have been able to cross my legs without having to literally pull my leg up for 2 months now and it's nice. I'm also getting bony, I notice when I sit for long periods of time (work) my butt starts to really hurt now that it doesn't have the extra padding. Anyway, good job!
-
Not sure it this is quite an NSV, but... I have been crossing my legs all the time since I was first able to do it again comfortably months ago. However, I notice that lately, doing so actually been starting to hurt! My knees are getting bony and are digging into the side/back of the leg that rests on top of it when I am crossing my legs. It probably doesn't help that I tend to wrap the foot of upper leg behind the lower leg...ouch.

One of my biggest NSVs is hard to put into words. It’s similar to being a kid at school who has been laughed out of drama class, so despite wanting to be in the school play they tell themself: a) drama class is for crap people who have more ego than intelligence b ) they will probably be bad at it c) the class is pointless anyway Except all that is about the culture of dieting, gym going and other fitness and food culture things that non-obese people around me have been involved in. I guess you could also call it my Breakfast Club NSV. I’m the emo superior acting kid who’s finally decided I was cutting off my nose to spite my face by not joining in and having fun on my own terms. If that makes ANY sense?

February 2019 weight loss buds
Sheribear68 replied to TheMarine79's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
That’s awesome! I have no idea what I do mid-week because I’m too much of a chicken to weigh myself very often. Honestly climbing onto that thing even once a week pushes me to my limit, because of a lifetime of PTSD concerning the dreaded scale (does there exist a device I loathe more than a scale? Probably not) I always have to do about 30 seconds deep breathing before getting on—especially now post surgery— and even though I tell myself repeatedly that “it’s just a number,” I still get emotional when the number isn’t what in my mind I think I “deserved” for the week. That being said, I need the weekly slap in the face of weighing myself so I can keep my butt moving, keep eating right, sleeping enough, managing stress, etc... So when that happens, I remind myself of what our bariatric psychologist said at my very first session: the biggest trap of bariatric surgery -for some people- is they will lose weight NO MATTER WHAT THEY DO. Therefore, they don’t develop lifetime habits during the honeymoon period and are screwed when that ends. (Lol, he literally used the word “screwed”. ) Those that still have to struggle a bit have better long-term success because the weight honestly doesn’t just fall off no matter what.” I was kinda worried when he said that, but now I get it. As much as I’d LOVE to hit goal in 6 months, be able to drink wine and eat carbs and still be able to drop 2-3 pounds/week with zero hunger, that just isn’t how it’s working for me. Hey. I did have another NSV today. Got up at 7am on a rare Saturday off work and got my butt to Pilates. Was able to do side planks with zero mods and I’m pretty psyched about that. -

Sheribear you look amazing! You can definitely see it! I'm down another pound after my monthly stall and bounce around. I guess this is just the way my body is going to lose weight! Jeans are getting loose now - I had a NSV today and tried on the next size down and they fit. -
I've made sure my video is shorter....this is simply a status update and some NSVs. 🙂 I am going to save a lot of the ancillary talking for my "Can We Talk?" series. By splitting up what I talk about this way, it should keep my videos to about 10 minutes each. Thank you for watching! 🙂

Vision adjustment after weight loss goal

As I was losing weight, I noticed that one of my NSV (non scale victories) was going in and buying a piece of new clothes that were slightly smaller than my current size. You know, the kind that if you took a deep breathe, you would pop a button on the pants. And then a week later, that piece of clothes would fit me like a glove. It was quite a thrill. -
GALS who started their journey over 300 lb+
+
Nic C replied to Frustr8's topic in The Gals' Room
My highest weight was 420/421 and my surgery weight was 412. I'm now around 364 after hitting a stall at 375 that had me freaking out a bit. Just seeing 364 on a scale is mindblowing after not being in the 300s for so long. My 3 month post-op visit with my surgeon is this Thursday I'm hoping to have lost 50 lbs by that appointment though my official 3 month post-op date is on the 23rd. NSVs include wearing shoes that I couldn't years ago, moving into 3X clothing, and feeling (but not yet seeing) my collarbone. This whole process is still surreal. I hated being in the 300s but I'm so happy to be here now and will continue to work until I'm in the 200s. Who knows, I may even hit onederland! Congratulations, ladies, for continuing to smash your goals and don't forget to reap those Non-Scale Victories! Sent from my SM-G955U using BariatricPal mobile app -
And what 2 things in 5 years will be your NSV? Mine will be not cringing at the size stage or having to constantly verifying prices to know if I can afford it. Small things but I believe it will bring me JOY!

Happy to hear that everything is going well. I have been burping up a storm. I had heard that it is harder to burp after the sleeve, but it sure does help getting that air out of my chest. I’m ready to move on to purées already, and it’s only been 3 days since surgery. Best of luck to you and I hope you keep improving! Also, congrats on the NSV. That’s great news!!!!

April 2019 Surgeries!
I Am Groot replied to CajunSam's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Another update: My sleeve was on the 4th and my first follow-up was today. Everything went well. The incisions are healing nicely with slight oozing in one and my first NSV - my blood pressure has already dropped from prehypertension levels to normal. My surgeon seemed surprised by my burping complaint. Thankfully, it's getting better each day. Now, only if I could chew something. Sent from my Pixel 3 XL using BariatricPal mobile app -

GALS who started their journey over 300 lb+
+
JulesUp replied to Frustr8's topic in The Gals' Room
I had surgery July 2018 and was 390 at my heaviest. The day of surgery I was 368 and today I am 257. I have lost 133 pounds! Weight loss is definitely harder at 9 months out. I am trying to go to the gym three times a week, but I can’t always make it due to my work commute and kid obligations. My goal is to make it to 230 by my one year anniversary this summer, but I am almost doubting myself. I lost weight quickly during the honeymoon period so at five months I had already lost well over 100 pounds, but sticking to a plan and hoping for a positive outcome. The best part is dropping six pant sizes. I use to be a 26/28 and now size 16 in regular woman section. The biggest NSV has been able to fit and ride in a roller coaster after almost 18 years of riding one for the last time. I rode 4 roller coasters with my boys a few weeks ago at an amusement park. Looking forward to traveling in an airplane next week without having to use a seatbelt extender. Congrats to all on your success!
