I hardly have any Protein HELP

Some great suggestions here for you to follow. Since you are only about 6 weeks post-op you need to be careful that you are following your surgeon's post-op food plan and not introducing solid foods or difficult to digest food too quickly. You stomach has been through a MAJOR TRAUMA and you need to give it time to heal properly. It can take up to 6 months for the swelling to completely subside and the healing to complete! My second focus is to suggest you adjust your state of mind..........you've lost 35 lbs! In 6 weeks! When was the last time you lost 6 lbs/week? Not losing much? Wow! I am 10 months post-op and my average loss right now (over those 10 months) is 2.85 lbs/week. You are losing LOTS! Believe me! And if you happen to be stuck (or stalled) right now, that is completely normal. Type "Week 3 stall" into the search box in the top right corner of this website. You'll see alot of people stop losing weight temporarily around this time period. It's great that you're looking for advice on protein intake (perhaps you should start logging your food on a website/app such as MyFitnessPall?). Just remember that your weight loss is a journey that is non-linear and you will have stalls, periods of fast loss (that sometimes don't make sense!) and some slow periods (but still losing). Your body is trying to figure out what's going on. It's making adjustments and adapting to it's changing physiology and energy stores. Give your body time, and your mental health with thank you! Good luck!

    Passport for Mexico

You can get a passport really fast, but you will have to pay extra for it. The information is on the web. You should get started on that right away if you're not going to pay the extra for fast service. It does take time to get a passport and you do need one to travel to Mexico.

  8. I had a lot of my fill taken out about a month and had half ago and I have already gained about 15 pounds. I was having some problems with my neck so they took some out to see if it would help and found out the band was not the problem. Well I have an appointment to get a fill on the 20th. I have been eating everything that I had not eaten in a long time and I am gaining weight fast. This just totally backs up the fact that I can NOT do this without my band. I just hope I dont gain even more before the 20th. I cant believe I am over 200 again. I used to always have a problem staying under 300. Now I dont want to stay over 200. I am going to try really hard tomarrow to watch my portions and have no bread or high carb food. The other night I ate almost all of my 12 ounce steak that I ordered from a resteraunt. I feel so pathetic and weak. All of these emotions of saddness are coming back to me. I WILL do good from here on out. Sorry to keep going on and on. It just helps to get back up from all of you who have been there.

    Need to clear my throat...

Probably ate to fast... yes, you even have to chew jello! Good news is it will dissolve and pass the band quickly.
  10. Hi all - New here. I was banded last week on 7/27. Doing great. No nausea or vomiting, just some sore incision sites and sore left shoulder. Oh yeah, starving! So over the liquid diet but I am obeying. This is my question. I am losing a lot of weight rapidly. I am on day 6 and have lost 22 lbs. I am not complaining at all but is this normal?

    Looking for information

From my point of view I would begin a daily exercise regimen for your entire family. Such as an evening walk or family bike ride. This will set a great example of a healthy lifestyle for your children and perhaps be able to turn things around for your daughter. I would also make fast food off limits. Clean out your fridge and your cupboards of all unhealthy processed food and only stock healthy nutritious Snacks and meal fixins. You will be surprised how much easier it is once the junk is gone. Now I'm not saying that you or the kids shouldn't have a treat every once in a while, I'm just saying don't keep it in the house. I love my band and it has motivated me to make the commitment to start a healthier lifestyle. I have lost 57 pounds since April 1st of this year. I feel great and I am in the best physical shape of my life at this very moment. I do believe that if I had the same commitment to diet and exercise prior to banding that I may have been able to achieve the same results. However, I lacked the will power prior to banding so it took something as drastic as banding to find the will power inside myself. My entire family has joined with me on this journey and has made the choice to eat healthier and exercise daily. What a difference this is making in my husband and children. I wish you much success on your journey and applaud you for your desire to find healthiness for you and your family. Good luck to you!

    Surgery=Unfilled Band

i actually didnt have the usual gallstone issue.. my gallbladder just wasn't working.. it wasnt releasing the bile like it should.. this would cause pain afer i ate. like 30-45min after eating .. i didnt have the typical syptoms at first but then all the sudden i got bad and fast within 5days i was in the hospital having emergency surgery because i couldn't keep fluids down. (not band related!!) So trust me you would know if you had a problem...

Has anyone had to choose a band??

Hi! Once the band is in it's our job to know when we need a fill. Thats the hard part. I mostly say I have not had a fill yet. Ask your Doctor what kind of band you have. If it's Realize you can go to RealMySuccess.com & have personal weight loss site. I think you can do this with lap-band also. Learn to know everything about fills. If you need it, get it. I have several support groups. I go to support group meetings over 5 x a month. This is a brand new science. Buy this book " Weight Loss Surgery with the Adjustable Gastric Band". It has Helped me a lot . I hope you reach all your goals. Good Luck. I think in 5 years time our bands & book will be history and weight loss will be different. Now I think it's 80% band 20 by-pass. 3 years ago opposite. I'm just starting on my weight loss journey. It's been fast, slow, hard, easy & lots of fun. Again Good Luck, Hasta Pronto, George:thumbup:
  14. Wow, 2 weeks and two days since my surgery and I'm already half way to my goal weight! Better yet the reason why I did this has been accomplished blood sugar has been at normal levels for the last week no higher than 127 fasting at 80-90 I never thought it would be possible with such a small change.

Please Help. I`m a "Diet Junkie"

That is great the amount that you have lost. I am thinking about staying away from the carbs. Do you think that is why you lost all that way so fast... what does your breakfast lunch and dinner plan look like. I am struggling with what I can eat. I was just banded on 1/9/2010. thanks Jenn
  16. I have enjoyed my sleeve, but worry about not getting in my fruits and vegetables. I was introduced to a new product and feel great. I'm not trying to sell you anything as you can watch videos for yourself! I count my protein everyday and get full so fast I can't eat my fruits or vegetables. This company has a nutritional juice and an energy drink I'm in love with! Go to www.sozolife.com/ignition This company is ground floor and is only in the pre launch phase in Texas! Will launch in April. It hasn't gotten to any other states yet! I only want to share so others that are interested can take this product or become a distributor. I'm not a distributor, but an advocate for the product! My friend who has colitis introduced me and is now off of Imodium. It's a true blessing!

    Just banded

Hi Julia, I am new myself. I was banded 3/26/07 and am just barely starting to eat. I have not done the best job of it either. Twice now I have been in alot of pain from eating to fast. Old habits are hard to break I guess. I am improving though, and I imagine it is all part of the learning curve. I started out at 291 and am down to 276, so even the pain is worth it. Good luck to you and I hope we both have success with our new tools in place. Shawna Goal weight 150
  18. What are you guys eating after 6 weeks from bypass surgery? Would you guys share a typical day? I struggling with food, or shakes, I don't have any strictures or problem, just my stomach can take certain food, and I get full very fast, I'm not taking 60gr of protein. I'm feeling very discouraged.

    May 20th is my date

Hi ChristyC from Michigan. I am getting banded on May 20th. All went so fast and well, I am looking forward to it...but trying to lose some before surgery. Any suggestions will help!! I need it. Thanks
  20. Going on a 6hr road trip this weekend with my fast food/chip loving boyfriend. I have packed premade shakes, protein bars, soy chips etc. I hope I am ready. Any suggestions?
  21. Hi, I joined yesterday because I needed help. Thanks to those of you who responded to "is my band too tight". I went in this morning and had .75 cc taken out. It is absolutely amazing how much difference such a small amount can make! I was banded July 27, 2009 and have lost 45 pounds. I'm not going very fast, but I'm going the right direction and that makes me feel great. I'm excited to have joined!

    Sticky Tape, Get it off!!!

When were you told you could remove it? And is it tape (adhesive, or paper?) or is it the "steri strips" they use to help seal the wound? If they told you you could remove it and it isn't steri strips, unfortunately there's no easy way. Some prefer a fast RIP, others like to have it gently pulled off. You do NOT want to saturate the adhesive with anything, especially if you don't think you're totally healed. Don't want to get anything into your wounds. The steri strips, if that's what you have, need to stay on until they fall off.
  23. I was sleeved December 20th, 2013 and I am 20 pounds away from the goal weight the doctor gave me! I can't believe how fast that 70 pounds dropped off!
  24. Since my last fill in early june things were up and down for me... I was losing well 2-3 lbs a week but was suffering from nausea , vomiting and very bad acid reflux. I toughed it out taking 80mg prilosec a day 40 in the am and 40 lat afternoon, it seemed to solve the problem. my next issue was learning to eat with my band being tight - one bite too many and out it came, too big a bit and too fast.. same thing. I now have it under control.. ive lost 73lbs since october for an average of 9.1lbs a month.. i am pretty happy with this. I am now sitting at 209- this is the exact point i got to 6-7 years ago when i did atkins,,i hit 209 and couldnt go any farther, so while i am feeling great, excited about my loss i am getting very nervous that i will stall out here again and not go any further. my ultimate goal of 150 puts me at still over weight, 140 and i will be considered normal. But right now i just want to get below 200 - this is my nemesis...i dont think i have been below 200 since i was a teenager.

    How Much Food

Thanks for everyones help. This sleeve thing is something else. LOL...I had a lapband and when I ate to much or to fast it would come right back up (not even like really throwing up, it just comes back up) and that is what the sleeve is doing to me. so I am thinking I am eating to fast and to much. I can eat and bend over to put clothes in the dryer and the food will just come back up. Not all the time but a lot of the time. I had a very very rough start on this journey. In the first 4 weeks of having the sleeve. I was sent for fluids one time, held in the hospital an extra day after my surgery and put in the hospital 2 more times and had another surgery where they found a piece of scar tissue and after removing that I have seem to be doing better but it has been a very slow process. I just want to be able to eat and keep things down so I dont end up in the hospital again : ( I am able to eat oatmeal and shrimp and they always stay down : ) I just got through eating lunch which I had 5 medium shrimp with cocktail sauce. I tried to eat a scrambled egg for breakfast and it made me sick. So I guess it is just a learning process that will take me time Thanks everyone for your support
