White Sale replied to Dknal2's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Feels amazing, right @@Dknal2? Could you post a before pic, too? I saw a flash of my clavicles today - I wasn't sure if I even had them! Forgive my ignorance, but what the neck does NSV stand for? -
Do your feet really shrink?
SerendipityHappens replied to memk's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
100 pounds down and my feet are still the same length...I've been wearing a size 10 since 6th grade so I don't think they'll get shorter at this point! My feet are a bit narrower and my instep is not as full so I can more easily fit into shoes... I used to be a "wide" width in many shoes.. I went to the shoe store last week to get fitted for some new athletic shoes.... and he came out with a MEDIUM WIDTH!!!! After I bought the shoes, I wandered over to the Dansko section and tried on a pair of danskos in medium width and they fit perfectly.... SO AWESOME because in the past, I was limited to only the plain shoes because those were the only ones that were offered in wide.. But now I can wear any cute pattern I want... I ordered a patent leather floral design... YAY for NSVs! -

My Scale Victory Today . . .
SanDiegoPhotog replied to SanDiegoPhotog's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for all the congrats and well wishes. I do have one NSV . . . thank goodness. I have to go to a wedding tonight and I have been putting off buying something to wear because I was dropping weight so quickly. All of my dressy clothes are too autumn-ish, so I headed out to the mall today. Well, instead of buying the 2x dress, I bought the 1x!!!! That was very nice! It should last me a little while if I have anywhere else to go, otherwise . . . who cares??? LOL! So, I put on the spanx to minimize the belly, and surprisingly, it feels really good. I thought it might hurt my surgery areas, but it actually kind of binds everything and decreases the areas where I was feeling just a teency bit uncomfortable. Cool! -
Hey March Sleevers we are hitting our 6 month surgiversary. How is everyone doing? Weight loss? Fitness goals? NSVs? Let's share some inspiration with each other and the newbies!

I have secretly been wanting to run into a certain ex-boyfriend of mine. I dated him for awhile before I had my surgery and he told a friend of mine after we broke up that the reason we broke up was because I was fat. Not that he had a problem with it but that I had the problem with it and I was miserable about it. He told her that if I wanted to do something about it I could and just not eat as much. hahhahhahaha! We all know how easy that is. So I haven't seen him in nearly a year and ran into him yesterday. He took a double take before he realized who I was and walked over to speak to me. The weird thing is no words came out of his mouth. He just stood there looking at me....... I finally said hello to break the tension and still all he could say was "WOW". I said thank you and walked off. This helped me realize two things. 1. All this hard work I put into this was WELL worth it. and 2. He was right. I had to make the choice to "do something about it". I would do it again in a heart beat just so I could see the look on his face again!

I like this NSV and can totally relate to it!!! I also hoped to run into an exbf of mine who sometimes gave me a hard time about my weight and how much I ate (which is odd because he had gastric bypass surgery done when he weighed almost 300 lbs). Never did, but he did see pics of me on facebook and said I looked good and congratulated me on my weight loss. Maybe someday I'll run into him and rub it in his face some more. Mwahahaahaha -

Heehee thanks! And to think, I have 2 bum knees. I never thought in a million years I'd be able to do what I do. I've always dreamed of being able to become a runner and every day that becomes more a reality. I think it's definitely one of the BEST NSV's I've had since having my surgery!! You are doing really great pre-op! Do you have a pre-op diet your surgeon recommends? Lots do, I did. Mine was pretty much all low carbs - no liquid stuff... TG!! It was very tolerable. I even lost 9 Lbs, which was excellent! That's 9 Lbs less to goal post-op *YEAH!!!* Take care, and try not to get too nervous, your big day is right around the corner. -
Wonderful NSV! But then you got the scale victory as well. Congrats on "onederland."

We are in Florida at the moment. Enjoying the wonderful weather. We were sight seeing and happened upon a very small boutique. In my experience I can never buy anything in these store but I like to look. I noticed this beautiful white summer dress and fell in love. It only came upto XL. Owner said we have a small dressing room. Oh why not. It fit like a dream. So cute. Here I am a 66 year old grandmother buying a cute white dress at a boutique. Who would have ever figured??????

So I was able to make my old saddle work by adding a seat shrinker pad. It was actually quite comfy. But now my butt has shrunk so much that even that is too big. So I splurged on a new (used) saddle this week! I've always ridden western until my last saddle which was an aussie with a horn. SO comfy! I will never ride anything but an aussie again. So in my search for one that fit both me and my horse, the winner was a Muster Master from Australian Stock Saddle Company. It is a crossover saddle, which basically means it fits and looks like an aussie, but takes a regular western cinch and has a western fleece bottom instead of the aussie serge panels. The other thing is this one doesn't have a horn. This will definitely take some getting used to and some creative rigging options, because I mostly use the horn to dally my lead rope, hook my drink holder onto, and drape my head stall and reins on when trailering. First ride is tomorrow....can't wait!

Sent my skinny mini sister a text this morning saying "I'm so excited to say I'm down to 399 (what a hideous number to be excited about)..." she was so sweet and encouraging, I truly love her! But this was the first real lb lost in a few weeks. I've been pretty depressed about the scale the past couple of days, cranky even! I know the NSVs are there but I'm still just not feeling it. An a different note the Texas heat has been kind the past couple of days and I've gotten some good walking in... Woot! Everyone loves a picture and this is my current NSV... I feel like I need to point out the boob to lumpy tummy ratio... But my family was able to see with out my description

Funny observation about clothes post-surgery
Dub replied to gpmed's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Clothes. What a total and complete change of feels about them for me as well. I hated clothes shopping in the past. Hated buying crap from Casual Male or any other big & tall store.....or bigger & taller. Now....it's so much easier. Any store has my pants or shirts in stock.....whether it's a clothing store, a sporting goods store or even Walmart. The new sizes are much, much cheaper than before, too. Levis, Dockers, Izod, Polo brands but at cheaper prices than I was paying at the no-brand b&t stores. I actually enjoyed the last shopping trip I went on. This may have been the first time in history that I can say this. Unforeseen NSV. You look great !!! It's gotta feel good to wear fitted clothes again and rock 'em like you are. Well done. Nooooooooooooo not the butt......... -
Funny observation about clothes post-surgery
jane13 replied to gpmed's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
all of these posts are excellent NSVs! -
Kim, I suggest burping and farting a lot. *laughs* ow ow *evil grin* Seriously though, if I had to face going to work on Monday morning I'd be in a panic. I see these folks that went shopping within three days and I think "What a wus I am!" But DeLara's words keep rining in my ears. Everyone's different. My doc told me to try Milk of Magnesia, which I got today and will try tonight. On top of the gas pains, I haven't had a bowel movement since the day before surgery. I'm thinking constipation will be worse than gas. *chews nails* (not a pretty subject, but all's fair here right?) Speaking of "touchy" subjects, my husband says that since the women on here talk about their sagging boobs (kneepads someone called them) and other more personal things, he wondered if the men talked about equally private nsv. *laughs* I won't go into details. I'm in a "mood" and need to behave myself. *laughs more* Anyway, many grats Kim! *links arms with you and Kennedy927* Here we go.. and! Did you see that? Candice has lost 50 pounds in three months! WooHoo! I'm so excited! Hmm.. I wonder if she's doing so well because she loves to shop? Maybe WalMart has some benifits afterall? hehe

I made it 10.5 Miles today & ran 2 of my fastest miles. I have never ran that far in my entire life. I signed up for my first half marathon on Labor Day. If any one has any tips I'd love it. My foam roller is my new BFF ~LA

Loved your blog! The list was terrific and I am so thrilled to say I've already experienced a lot of those NSV's! It really is those victories that make this journey so joyful! -
Congrats Mezz! I am a pre-opper but I drink protein drinks bcuz I like them and use them as a meal replacement if I don't have time. My favorite is EAS AdvantEdge Carb Control, chocolate. It's thin in consistency, which I personally like. I like it best cold. I don't know if temperature makes a difference for your new sleevie. It hat 17g of protein, 4 carve (3g net carve bcuz of 1g of fiber), 110 calories and 3g of fat and is 11 oz. I get a box of 24 at BJ's Wholesale Club, sorry the price is escaping me at the moment. Best of luck to you and look forward to updates and NSV sharing!

From the album: 4th Month Post-op
Big NSV for me: my grandmother put aside this ring when I was born. It was given to me years ago after she passed. This is the first time I can actually fit it.
