  1. I just keep thinking of my surgery date as the start of my new, thinner life! I'm excited! I should be nervous but I'm not. It's because I know this is the right decision for me. @@Edie, 19 days! Wow!!! @slipstacey, think of all the positives that will come after your surgery!! That's what keeps me from being nervous. We all can do this!!!!
  2. @chickenmommy25..good luck to you too. When they set my date it was two months away and now it is 19 days away!! Getting nervous but I am soooo excited!!!
  3. I have, once I started exercising regularly and eating clean more ofter than not I saw that the weight came off the same. I am going on 8 months and I dont lose 10+pounds like the first 3 months, but I still average 6-8. And if I didnt drink a few times a month it would probably be more. I am at 81+ pounds down and I was just over 250 when I started. I think once you are living it, you can be as successful as you want to be.

Next time you come I want to go to the mall with you. I wanted to this weekend but my MIL made plans for us. I live like 10 mins from there and love that place although I don't go alot. I guess that is a good thing. When Dianne does your painting you will have to take pictures and let us all see...it sounds like it's going to be great...

    Good News and Bad News.....

Ok so we'll go with the bad news first....I am asking for many many prayers because my family is having a VERY bad week. My 22 year old cousin was just diagnosed with ALS or Lou Gherig's Disease (sp?) The whole family is taking it very hard and the poor thing can't even go outside or walk up and down the stairs do to all of his complications...please say some prayers for my best friend...he hasn't been given a time line, usually 3-5 years but some people live as long as 10 i've heard...If you guys have any information anything is useful at this time...we are all searching the net high and low for any information, treatments, that kind of thing...he has great doctors and we're being very optimistic!! Ok now for my good news..i took my 4 month measurements just to see how I have been doing...I've been a little down cause i've lost 22lbs so far but feel like things arent going so well...anyway i've lost 15 INCHES!!!!!!!! Holy crap that's a bright spot in the darkness of the family crisis for sure! Seems kinda petty to be happy about something like that when we have such a big deal on our hands but hey, be happy where you can right?? OK thanks for letting me get it all out there, I appreciate it more than you know! Katie

    No protein

Most important are your liquids right now, protein will become easier every day. I suggest Isopure or Proti Diet is a protein flavored mix you can add to your Water that is flavored so you get both, your fluids and your protein. They have grape, blue rasberry, orange and many other flavors. Each box brings about 8 packets and you mix the syrup with 10 oz of water. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Excited

The first 2 days were manageable as long as I kept up on my meds. Days 3-5 I went from taking meds every 6 hours to every 10-12. Day six I no longer needed the pain meds. The first 3 days I also had the gas pain.. which was extremely annoying.

If I could do it myself...

They are right...just watch what you eat, do it slow and just not all the time. Once you are banded, also remember not to drink while eating. Yes there may be times you need something but usually not. When I go out to eat, I ask for a coffee cup of water or a kid’s cup. This will stop them from asking “are you sure I can’t get you something to drink” or just in case I need a sip I have it there. Set a date or time during the month when you reward yourself. I eat whatever I want. I just watch how much, how often and always, always eat it slowly. I too eat bread, tortillas, rice etc.. If you want those chips, have them but take out a handful from the basket for yourself and that's your portion. I do this w/French fries. 10 is my limit and I either toss the rest or give them to the kids. But I’m not beating myself up for having “bad food”, I given myself permission, dealt w/the portion size and enjoyed. There will always be that head game out there that we need to deal with and the more we deal with it the easier it will be to move on and we win the game of life…Our new life! It's a life change as you know and we all work on it ONE DAY AT A TIME. Good luck on your journey.

    Wasting Food!

I'm only 7 months out, and bring home leftovers all the time. Luckily, I have a husband and son that enjoy my lunch leftovers or I eat them for a couple of days. I went out with my girlfriends for Thai food today, and brought home a huge amount of Beef Pad Thai. Luckily, it reheats well with a little Water added. The one thing I do when ordering out is always order with the "reheat" possibility in mind. Nachos suck reheated, and so do most dense meat, but I stick to the basics when ordering out. I plan and cook our family meals and have been able to cut back on all of our portions. My husband takes leftovers so he can have a hot lunch while on duty without having to eat fast food. I don't think I've ever finished a meal unless I was at home, and can control my portion size myself. Good luck with getting rid of those 10 pounds. You can do it, get back to basics, and try to stay focused. I'm considering taking up crocheting again to keep my hands busy.

    Food Fear

I'm 10 days out as well and into the thick liquid, etc... phase. I was excited to add yogurt and milk to my mix but the last 2 days my stomach gets really upset. I don't know if it's b/c I'm adding food OR because my body currently doesn't like the dairy products. It liked them just fine before and it would make no sense for it to like it now. It better start liking them soon. I do not want to loose yogurt and have to start drinking soy milk. I can't wait to get to real food though this also scares me! However I welcome feeling full...this liquid/mushy phase I honestly can't tell if I'm really full or not. Maybe that sounds stupid but my head isn't getting a message from my stomach. I stop eating so I don't throw up but I still feel a little hungry.
  13. I started at 410. I was sleeved Sept 27, 2013. I'm down 96 pounds. I feel great. I love my sleeve. Hard to believe 19 weeks out and 96 pounds. Any questions let me know. Thanks

    Struggling

Hello Bandsters, I wasw banded in December 2010. I made it from a size 22 to a 10. Lost about 75 lbs but gained 15 and cant seem to lose them again. HELP... I have been stuck at this weight for the past 6 months going up and down a few pounds. I am really discouraged and I find that I am gaining inches like I'm drinking water. This cycle is causing me to really get depressed and self medicate.. Has anyone else had this issue? Please help me as I don't know what to do. I'm getting looks from people now that are like you're fat again. The look of I knew you wouldn't do it. When I was a size 10 I got comments like "you're too little,You're a little brief..." Now I just get the yuck looks and asked so when are you going back to your doctor. My EX, when he was my present, said his guys were making comments about me gaining weight.. Well he didn't stand up for me and had the nerves to tell me.. He then dumped me for a former fatty who is small now..Talk about wowww... I'm trying to hold it all together.Does anyone have any suggestions to help me get back on track..I don't want to go back to 22's.

    How do you cope....

    I thought the same way and them I started telling myself "KEEP YOUR EYE ON THE PRIZE" I had surgery on 2/19 I have cooked almost every night and yes I want to sample but I keep saying to myself is this bite worth it??? Then I tell myself nope and move on. I hope you find something that helps you get thru it. The weight loss for be is so much more important than a bite or drink of anything there is out there. :}

  19. So i was banded 4-23, and have had zero compl. I had a fill June 19, and that also went off without a hitch. Felt pretty good restriction, and have had no problems, the only thing I've not been doing is chewing well, but haven't had anything get stuck. Well, I went back Thurs. for a second fill, and he ended up saying no, b/c i had lost 4lbs. since June 19, and thought I was doing great, and didn't wanna overfill. Ok no biggie, I'll wait. So Friday night I wake up to aweful reflux, and this is like stabbing pain reflux, which i have had before banding, but I haven't had it at all since being banded. It lasted a few hours, which it never has before...so I'm getting a little worried, I finally took a Pepcid and within an hour it subsided. THEN, all day yesterday everything i ate felt like it would get stuck, I never PB'd but it was like a throbbing heaviness right below my sternum and it would happen after a few bites, and then slowly subside after about 1/2 hour. Is what I"m exp. random tightning? B/c I didnt get a fill, I'm confused. I know fellow female bandsters have said that certain times of the month their band can all of a sudden tighten for a few days. I'm worried b/c of that lack of good chewing, I've made my band slip, I'm not sure of the symptoms of a slip but the reflux bout really scared my since I haven't had it since being banded. Can anyone shed some light on this? I"m thinking of calling my doc and see what he thinks, in fact I just left them a message to call me back, b/c this is weird, esp. since we didn't do a fill thursday. I don't get it????

    Excited, Nervous, and Confused

You should not compare yourself to any others here, everyone loses at a different rate and there are so many factors. You will lose a significant amount of weight over 6 months if you follow the advice of your doctor and nutritionist. If you set a number to it you are only setting yourself up for failure... With that being said it is good to have goals but they should be realistic... One of the things I asked my doctor was how much should I expect to lose... I was told 10-15 lbs a months for the first several months. I was fortunate to lose 100 lbs in the first 6 months and have lost 12 lbs over the past two months. My doctor also told me he could see me being 270 after all was said and done... I've already seen 257 lbs although I gained a bit recently... I do plan on getting to a lighter weight. You should know at one month out how realistic 100 lbs over 6 months is for you on your journey good luck!!!
  22. I gained 10 pounds from surgery and lost within days. And now another 7 pounds. I’m 6 days post op.
  23. I was sleeved on oct 4. Ive only lost 11 lbs so far. I had gained 10 lbs during hospital stay so that was gone plus 11 lbs. I dont eat much. I get my protein in. Water is difficult to drink im trying but its hard. Why am I losing so slowly. I developped sciatica my worst episode ever and was bedridden for 8 days as walking painful. Will I be relegated to slow loserville. I had a bmi of 47 going in, and have 140 to lose. Im terrified I am failing. I try and usually eat under 800 calories. Help please im discouraged
  24. My Dr. is requiring me a 5# weight loss (to shrink the liver) and I was told by the nutritionist that they will weigh me before the start of my 10 day pre op diet and the last day and if I don't loose that they will postpone. My Dr. told me to loose as much weight as I could before surgery, the lower the BMI, the less you weigh the safer it is.

    July Sleevers

We are on the same path: SW:267 VSG date:7/10/17 Surgery weight: 252 Now:209 After losing so rapidly in months one and two it's hard to accept the slow, but consistent loss on month three. Still following my plan to a "T". Most days my breakfast consists of a Premier Protein shake mixed with decaf coffee. I actually love it. It satisfies my sweet tooth. Congrats on your weight loss! You are doing great! Don't let the stalls get you down.
