  1. yep - I'd suspect the IV fluids. Some people gain up to 10 lbs on those, and it can take a week to ten days for them to work their way out of your system

    The Maintenance Thread

you might want to hold off on trying to gain weight and maybe just try to stabilize. It seems like most people put on 10-20 lbs during year 3 with little to no effort... I got too thin at one point and figured I'd never have the bounce back weight people talk about, but I did...
  3. You probably still have a lot of fluids in you from your surgery. It took about 10 days or so lose that fluid for me.

    Scale

My scale arrived today, and it's really cool. Thanks again for the suggestion. If anyone is looking for a scale, this one is on sale AND has a $10 off coupon right now on Amazon. It cost me about $18. Sent from my SM-T290 using BariatricPal mobile app

    Plastic Surgery Cost

The time is here!!!! I have my tummy tuck and BA Thursday 10/8. I’m so excited and so scared. Mostly about pain and my tatas being too big. My husband says he will deal just fine if they are too big 🙄. I can’t believe it’s finally time. November 11 is the 7th anniversary of my sleeve. It’s time for this!!!!
  6. I am also having my surgery 10/13. Sent from my SM-J727T1 using BariatricPal mobile app

    Dry Heaves

Welcome to the forums, Is it possible you have some sort of bug? Your symptoms sound like my version of the flu. Dry heaves are my version of throwing up. The other symptoms fit. Could also be symptoms of some autoimmune things, but I'd go with bug initially. It may just run it's course over 7-10 days. I'm not a doctor, just a voice on the interwebs, so follow your Doc's advice. If you not happy, keep pushing, be your own advocate. Good luck, Tek
  8. I had my EGD last Wednesday. It was the best sleep I've had in years!!!! I blinked twice after they gave me meds and then woke up in recovery. They did a biopsy of my lower stomach because I had some redness. My throat was a little scratchy up until the next morning and had some nausea. But nothing major at all. I went home and slept until 4 PM and then went back to sleep at 10!! No problems at all.

    Anyone for October 2020?

  10. I guess I should add I am almost exactly 10 years post-op. Lost a total of 120lbs. And yet... here we are.

    Weight loss

My stats are very similar to yours. I am also 5'1" and started at 250 pounds. I had the sleeve rather than the bypass. My weight loss started slowly compared to others I know who had WLS. I lost about 10 pounds the first month, then 15 the second month and then I settled into about 10 pounds per month until recently (it has slowed down now). At this point I am 18 months out from surgery and I have lost 110 pounds overall. 18 pounds in 21 days is pretty amazing and 3 or 4 pounds in one week is great! I think you're doing fine.
  12. Hey there! New to the forum, not new to the WLS world. Having an EGD tomorrow to check the status of my anasthemosis and to see if a revision is in order. (Truth: I am HOPING for a revision.) I am currently doing <1200 cals; +65 protein; <25 sugar; standard vitamins and calcium citrate. Anyone have a RnY revision ? Any EGD advice? I had one previously but it was during another (bigger) procedure so I don't know what the after was like. Thanks a million! Looking forward to getting to know you all. Tina

    Anyone for September 2020?

Hi. its me again! So I have now been on soft foods for 10 days. I am doing pretty well, I think. LOL. I have only gotten semi-nauseous once and it was on Black eye peas. I had eaten the same thing the day before with no issue. I think I might have just eaten too fast. I have eaten ALL kinds of things too. I'm not one that can eat the same things over and over. I end up wasting a bunch of food though because making a dish, even a small one, I can only eat it like two times and then its gone. I'm not gonna lie, I have snuck a little sugar here and there with no issue. When I say a little though, I mean a little. I have had one square of a Hershey bar...lol...and a tiny sliver of a pumpkin bundt cake from Nothing Bundt Cakes my daughter bought. I've learned to like cottage cheese with sugar free whipped topping and sugar free jello (strawberry is my fave) mixed together....my aunt calls it pink lady and its delicious. I've learned to like more yogurts because I cant eat eggs for breakfast every day! The weight loss is slow but it's not going up, so i'm okay with it. I lost 2 pounds last week. I am trying to walk outside a few days a week but I am still get tired very easy. I hope that goes away soon.

    Pre-op is NOT liquids

Yes, it seems like every surgeon has a different plan, so yours is normal [emoji4] Mine will be 10 days, and is basically low carb, low calorie.

    Stricture repair

Hello. I had the gastric sleeve in 2014. I started having severe acid reflux to the point I was waking up choking in my sleep. Found out my stomach was twisted. I had the gastric bypass Nov 2019 to correct the problem. After a few months I couldn't keep any food down and found out I had a stricture. Tried the endoscopy to try to open it up but the scar tissue was too bad. Having surgery tomorrow to see if he can remove the scar tissue. If not, then he will have to reroute my intestines to another part of my stomach. I'm so disappointed in all that has happened and scared because of all the surgery being done to my stomach. I keep having this nightmare of walking around with a colostomy bag because of damage. I'm going to stay positive but wanted to know if anyone had to have surgery again after a stricture?

    Twisted Stomach after Sleeve Surgery

    November 2020 sleevers

Any fellow Nov sleevers care to share their pre-op diet? My surgeon just told me to lose 10 lbs before surgery, however in the paperwork it says 10-14 days clear liquid diet with foods, drinks and sample menus. I’ve got an upcoming appointment with the dietician where I’m sure I’ll get clarity. I was just wondering what everyone else was doing, or if you even knew.
  19. If you haven't talked to your surgeon's office in a while, it might be a good idea to give them a call to let them know you're almost done with your 6-month weight loss and ask what you need to do to schedule the endo and psych eval. A lot of bariatric practices have a "patient navigator" who helps to coordinate that stuff. I had some concerns about my insurance coverage (mainly because I hadn't been to a doctor in almost 10 years, so I didn't have a documented weight history), but the surgeon was very familiar with my insurance requirements and said, "Don't worry, we'll get you covered," and they did! They do this for a living, so most of them are pretty good at dealing with insurance companies.

    Thankful Thread - 10/5 - 10/11

Hi everyone! Hope you had a good week and that this one will be amazing too! This week, I am thankful to be on vacation for 4 days in one of my favorite places. I’m thankful for the weight I have lost making it so I don’t get winded and have to stop repeatedly while carrying my luggage. I’m thankful that I’ll be able to keep very close to on plan while on vacation thanks to careful preparation. And I am so thankful to be out of the office and away from that stress until Friday. How about you?

I Lost My WLS Super Powers

this seems to be very common, actually. Most people have a 10-20 lb gain after hitting their lowest weight, and I was prepared for that - but even after that, you have to really start monitoring yourself or you're very likely to gain even more. I'm pretty much resigned to the fact that I'll have to diet for the rest of my life or I'm going to put on a bunch of weight. Luckily I figured that out before much damage was done, since it's hard as heck to lose weight now 😞

    Scale

I am a scale wh*re..... I weigh myself every day and have pretty much since my Band sx in 2009. I am a person that the scale keeps me in check. 2-3lbs i can handle... but once i hit the 5lbs gain i find its hard for me to get the scale to go back.... so when i see it go up... i look at what i did that week and adjust my eating habits. I feel the scale helped me only gain 30lbs after my band removal. If you can not stress over weight loss stalls..... a scale is a great way to keep you in check. I have been sitting at 120-122 for months.... I reached my year sleeve 8/28/2019

    Pre-op

Hi! This is my first post here. I am 65 and 275 pounds. I have finally made the decision to change my lifestyle after being morbidly obese for 10 years. I have chronic pain from spondylitis and nerve damage. I know the weight is a big part of the pain I am living with. I have gained 20 pounds since the pandemic started because I am alone at home, generally on the couch. I look forward to being able to walk without a limp when I get lighter. I am a little nervous about doing this but I want to live a longer and fuller life.

    Sleeved in August 2011

I am almost 10 years since the day I was sleeved. I weighed 278 pounds when I had my surgery. I got down to 173 pounds and now I am back up to 220 pounds. I am feeling like a failure. I am terrified of putting all of the weight back on. How are others doing this better? How can I get some of this weight back off? If you are continuing to lose weight what are your daily macros? I’m not even sure if I have restriction anymore. Is there a way to find out? I started drinking sodas probably a year after I was sleeved. Have I ruined it for good? Is anyone else in the same boat? I’d love to have some help and support.

    Feeling down lately

I feel you. I’m about 50 lbs down and still in the same clothing as I started with. I take pictures every 10 lbs I’ve lost, and in the first couple pictures it doesn’t look like I’ve lost that much. But as I’ve lost more weight each lb lost is a greater ratio of your current weight, and the sizes should start dropping quickly. Especially once you get into straight sizes, which seem to be much closer together than say a 3x vs 2x.
