  1. I want to know tips for toning my stomach and getting rid of abdominal fat. I should mention that I had a c-section three years ago so it seems like most of my extra weight is right in the front. Does anyone know any particular exercises that are good for this?

    My fear

Nice! If I get this procedure done (and it's looking like it will happen no matter what my PCP thinks) I'm going to go crazy weight lifting. By "firm fat" I mean, I don't have dimples, rolls, cellulitis. I'm smoothly round.
  3. Padanelle

    My fear

I'm not going to worry about something that might not happen. I've lost 46 lbs so far, and so far, my skin is looking good. I'm hoping my skin will eventually spring back. But I'd rather have flab, than be unable to walk because of the pain caused by my weight, to be able to bend over without being winded, to no longer have to take BP meds, etc, etc.
  4. I have my pre op day in hospital tomorrow and hubby is coming with me, even though he's squirming about it even now lol (He's not very good on the medical side of things). I have had my bloods, urine and poop checked already through my GP so tomorrow is just meeting the team and seeing the private part of the hospital I will be in on the 23 of July 2015. Going tomorrow is making it all the more 'real'. I'm not sure I will sleep tonight. We are going out Saturday night to the theatre to see a play but before that we are off for a meal and champagne to Celebrate the start of a new journey in my and our life together. On Monday I start an 18 day pre op liquid only diet. I have been good recently, not over eating, not eating any rubbish and have lost a bit of weight already. I don't know if the feeling in my tummy is excitement or nerves. What did you do before the op to signal the start of a new journey, if anything and looking back is there something you had wished you had done? Suggestions please, after all I have four days of debauchery left ~~ Hugs ~~ Kate
  5. My doctor told me I can eat between 800-1000 calories. I am 3 months out and have been sticking to 800. I feel like it's not enough anymore and tempted to move up to 900. My question is with 800 I have been eating between 650-850 and been losing about 1-2 pounds a week. Do you think if I increased to 900 it will slow my weightloss? I already lost almost 70 and I have a little less then 30 pounds to get to my goal and I don't want to ruin the steady pace I have been having. The bulk of my weight loss was the past 2 months this month has been slower but I'm happy. I hope I don't sound paranoid or goofy lol Thanks in advance for advice tips and opinions!

    Need some help please

Hi Sherry, I really feel for you. Maybe instead of going in for a fill, you should make an appointment just to talk with your doctor. I would explain the situation to him to see what he can do for you. I know that you are worried about having fills left for later but if you are not losing weight steadily now, it will not get better later. I found with my doctor that I can talk with him and he can work around the rules. You just need to make sure that the band is working optimally for you. Your doctor should also want you to succeed as well. Best of luck. Helen
  7. Hello fellow weight loss surgery patients I'm going to start shopping for our Easter dinner. Any ideas on what to buy? This is my first 'official' holiday eating regular foods. Sleeved

    2 Month Bandiversary!

I love that you had the courage to do this!! Also it give me hope, and by that I mean we had a pretty similar starting weight, pretty similar weight loss so far and you look amazing. So you give me hope that maybe I'm improving as much as you are! It's so very hard to look in the mirror and see anything other then what you are used to. I wish now I had taken before and after pictures. Keep up the great work you are doing and awesome job I am so glad that my story has given you hope!! That's a great thing to hear. I knew I would regret not documenting my journey with pictures, even though they are hard to take and look at. I encourage it though because it does end up being a good motivator! Thank you for your encouraging words I wish you all the best as well.

    Hey Everyone!

What are your restrictions? My boss said the first 2 days are the worst because your having withdraws. Do you excersise any to help with the weightloss or was it just the diet that you lost weight on? I am restricted to 2 day liquid diet before. Nervous about it drank a Protein shake today and was hungry a hour and a half later I had another one.
  12. Hello everyone, I am super excited to start this new journey. I am in my late 20's and for years have struggled with weigh loss and gain. Due to my PCOS condition, it has made it even harder to keep the weight off even when I loose due to my crazy hormonal imbalances. My best friend was banned in 2010 and she loves it and it is working out great for her. I am a nurse and I am fully aware of the risks that are associated with being obese and therefore, decided it was time for a drastic change. I am due to have the surgery sometime in early summer. I am even more excited to be able to hear from others and follow their journey. Look forward to sharing with each of you as well as you being able to share your stories with me as I began my transformation into a newer better version of myself.

    Negative Thinking Taking Over.....

I like that last statement. So true! Congratulations on your weight loss!! That's amazing. My negative side always seems to take over. I'm not scared of the surgery. I've had several before. I know it is more the complications after if they happen because I'm self pay and I think. "oh Lord, what is something happens and no one will take care of me because I can't afford it and insurance won't pay because they didn't pay for the surgery to begin with.??"... That kind of thinking consumes me. Thank you though. Getting these positive comments helps me so much!! I love this forum and love reading all of the success stories of the people who have made it. God Bless!

    4 months Post-Op Hi, I'm Quinn

Hello @@smile4unga, sounds like you are doing well, congratulations on your 52 pound weight loss!
  15. At 3 months post op I have lost 65 pounds and 51% of my excess weight. I have more energy, and am so much happier. I have not regretted this decision for one minute, and Celebrate my progress every month when I do my monthly check in pics. Loving my sleeve!!! You'll probably need to click on the thumbnails to make them big enough. :-)
  16. Hi everyone! I'm soooooo excited to have my surgery on Dec 17th! I am a full time college student finishing my degree interning as a student teacher. I graduate on Friday the 14th of December and I get sleeved the following Monday!! However I'm a little concerned about not having enough energy after Xmas break. I am taking over a teaching position right after Xmas break (January 6th) and I'm hoping that ill be recovered enough to handle being on my feet all day in a class FULL of students (we have almost 40 kids) these are 4 th graders and can suck the energy right out of you! When did all of you get your e egret boost I've been hearing so much about. Right now I'm 5'7" and 380 lbs. so it's hard to keep up with. I know it should be easer after I get some of this weight off
  17. I'm ready to leave it up to the insurance company... Today was my final weigh in after 6 months of pre-op dieting. It's not a lot of weight loss, but I'll take it! I'm excited and nervous about the next month or so. Wondering if I should request to have my surgery after my cruise... June 6th. I'm worried about sea sickness and band slippage... any thoughts?:confused2:

    Just getting Started!

Hi, thanks for the wish of good luck... I am still going back and forth with this... one minute I am excited and the next I am second guessing myself. I am hoping your surgery went well and I see that you have already lost a good amount of weight! CONGRATS on that ... I hope your healing well.....
  19. Hi Everyone! My Name is Nettie and I am considering lap band surgery. I have been through all the preliminary steps and am meeting with the Surgeon for the first time this coming Wed. I am scared to death. I keep questioning my decision big time. I am in my early 40's and have type 2 diabetes, HTN and PCOS and have a family history of heart problems & cancer. I have had one major success in losing weight and keeping it off and that was in 1998 when I went from 280ish to 240. I have since then bounced around from 240 to 250 constantly. I have tried lots of ways to lose but I either don't give it my all or I don't get the desired results so I give up. I saw my Mother die this past summer from complications of not taking care of her diabetes. This has put unholy terror in my life. I am a "good" diabetic. I follow the rules and do what I am supposed to hence my 6.5 A1C! However the other issues that go along with it keep changing. My HTN has gotten bad this year and it never was before. So I am trying this as a means to rid myself of all these health issues. I want to live a long healthy life. I have a great support system if I do this but I am still scared. What will I do if I can't make it work? Am I setting myself up for failure? What will happen if I don't get in the required exercise? I am not lazy but I just have a really hard time making myself do the exercise. What if I lose weight but can't lose the flab and can't afford surgery to get rid of it? All of this keeps going through my head. My brain hurts because of this. I would appreciate any feedback or advice. Thank you.
  20. so i know the mental hunger thing is a battle many of us have to face but does anybody else struggle knowing where the line is between the real and unreal hunger ?!? i am always hungry and always have hunger growls and i miss the small stomach sensation in the beginning i miss those first few months i had surgery on may 10th, since then i lost about 90+ lbs but my stomach seems to be able to fit double what it was a few months ago, and i've been stuck on the same weight for 2 months lastly, my cpap was for a while, filling me up with air despite lowering the settings, and i wonder if this affects my surgery in any way? i would wake up with intense gas pain like when we got surgery that first day i don't know from day to day if i'm ok and it makes me so depressed and paranoid bleh... anyone feeling this way? Help food!

I am looking at all of the successful lapbanders that have lost a lot of weight. I am wondering if you can let me know what you ate? Is there anything that you have cut out/eliminated? Have you changed the way you cook? I am at a stand still and would really like some assistance.

    Hello from Utah!!

Hi Irene! Over the years I have collected 1000's of recipes and I thought it would be a good idea to go through them and convert them to Bandster recipes! I'll keep you posted. How do you make the little weight lost chart everyone has at the bottom of their post?

    No More Surgeries!!!!

I've ALWAYS had big arms........... not blessed with small ones and so I know that my bat wings will be flapping in the air while riding my motorcycle even mores so after I lose my weight AGAIN and that is a major reason why if I had to chose just ONE ps it would be to get my arms done.... scars or not they would FIT better into clothes and I could for once in my life wear a tank top and not gross out spectators.......... it's just a part of MY journey... and a personal choice for ME.... I've had saggy boobs my entire life too.... but I can stuff them into a bra.... my arms not so much........
  24. Went in last week for a complete unfill due to recent medical conditions unrelated to the band. After a week of an unfill, I am now reminded of why I have the band in the first place. I am feeling no restriction for the first time in 18 months and I can eat anything. Old habits die hard, but I am trying to keep a grip on it. I don't want to gain weight and if I could just stay the same I would be fine- wow it's hard! I would have thought that after 18 months of restriction I would have better self control........it's scary and a little depressing to think I can just slip right back..........

    Ladynettie: Intro & Question

I love my band and have no regrets, it gave me the push I needed to lose my weight. The one advice I have is, you have to walk into this with your eyes wide open. The band will only work if you work with it, it is not a quick fix and it will not stop you from eating things that are not healthy. I suggest doing all the before work, meeting with a nutritionist and a physiologist. Getting inside your head and finding what makes you eat is key to losing in my opinion. I am lucky, I have worked hard and the band has worked very well for me. As far as losing the weight and not losing the excess skin, this is a hard. I have lost all my desired weight. I lost 122 lbs and I am determined to tighten up as much as I can because I am choosing not to have a TT or any cosmetic surgery. It is hard but I am 57 and who at 57 does not have a few flaws. Like I said you really need to be mentally prepared for this process, my opinion is the mental part of this journey is the hardest and not facing issues before or early will prevent you from being successful,
