Fiddleman replied to leeann71's topic in Fitness & Exercise
That is friggin awesome Anne. Breaking through any major boundary is such an NSV. -
So I was 451 when I first started my pre-op diet and I went to wal-mart to buy a scale and the maximum weight they went up to was 445lbs so I bought it and every so often I'd weigh myself at home and it said "ol" for over load or oh lord which ever you prefer (lol). But today I weighed myself and it said 442.7.....I'm soooo excited I measured myself twice just to be sure it was right and it Steal read the same thing.....this made my day let's celebrate with a fat free, sugar free, gluten free, popsicle!!

I just had a NSV: A pair of denim capris, and a tee-shirt I have not worn in a year and a half fit- PERFECTLY!, took a shot in the dark trying the capri's on, and they slid right on and buttoned no problem!!!!!!

Hello folks! I am now 6 weeks post op! I am doing great. During week 4 thru 5 I had a horrible stall. The scale was not moving. I contacted my surgeons office and talked to my Nutrionist. She went over my intake and my journal. I was on a three week of "softs". It was decided I was doing great getting in all of my protein on my days (80 grams). I was also getting in all of my zero calorie water/fluid...in fact I was exceeding it...I still tend to get 100-120 oz each day. I love my water! My problem was......I was eating too many calories. I was getting in about 1100-1200 on an average, daily. I was asked to take it down to 800 calories per day and still do my best to get in the same 80 grams of protein and the same water, at least 64oz up to whatever I can handle. I modified the calories and WHOA.......the scale has noticed the changes! NICE....losing one pound daily on most days. I have gone down 5 pounds in 6 days. I am sitting at 270 exact this morning and I was 307 when I came home from surgery (Surgery was 12/17-RYGB). I also cut out two mini-meals ...I was getting in 5 daily on softs and I am now just doing 3 per day and a small snack at one point if I need/want it. I am taking all of my bariatric vitamins and supplements like clock work. I think this is SO important!! Dumping: I have had a few small episodes of dumping. When it occurs, I find that I have consumed my food too fast in most cases. I do not have any trigger food that gives me trouble nor do I get sick (barf). When I have any dumping, I get a nausea feeling and sometimes a heavy fatigue. Those last less than and hour, then I am good to go. When I re-measured my body at the one month point, I lost 15" over all. I am a total of 37 pounds since surgery. I am expecting to ENTER THE 260's tomorrow! I wore a 44DDD bra today (Brand new took tags off with out my glasses on)...I thought it was a 48DDD. I was wrong! I wore a 1x shirt (OMG!) and I had on new to me/gently used jeans that are 24's....and they were LOOSE. I don't think I can get into a 22 jean just yet........depends on brands of course! The outfit I wore today (all of the above) made me FEEL SKINNY! I like this saying and I have used it for almost a year as I have been working on ME....I tell people that "I am less married to food, than ever before". For me, it's all about relationships and relationships with FOOD! I am not divorcing food, but I AM way less married to it now, than ever before. I hope this finds you all doing well. I love this forum/bariatric pal and I am thankful to see the comments, questions posed, the ideas, food for thought and NSV's. Kari Jo

Someone else needs to post an NSV, or it's going to look like I'm real thread hog! But, I can't resist posting one more: My bathing suit is getting loose! OMG! I've never had that happen in my life! Oh, and here's an odd thing: I got into a two pairs of 16W pants this week! But... I still can't fit into any size 18 regulars I have. Huh?

OK - this is such a minor, silly thing, but I LOVE my shadow!!! I have to walk back and forth outside between buildings at my work each day. Before I started this journey, I noticed how HUGE and unshapely my shadow had become. For some reason that got to me even more than looking at myself in the mirror! Well, now that I'm over 1/2 way to goal, I love looking at my much-smaller shadow that actually resembles a woman's shape! Another NSV - we have a 'cuddle' chair (oversized lounger), that my husband and two sons could fit in fine together. When I would sit next to my husband or my two sons, It was a very tight, uncomfortable fit, and when I would get up, the whole chair would lean forward and slam back and I would about launch whoever was still sitting there. Now I easily and comfortably fit with my husband or both sons, and the chair stays in place when I get up and they stay seated.

I'm so excited for you, SweetBean - wear that 'Rockin' outfit now, if you have an occassion for it! I'm sure you'll look HOT! Hang in there, BKMom - Like SpideyMom said, celebrate the NSV's - you've made a choice and are on the path to an overall healthier lifestyle - that is a HUGE accomplishment to be proud of!!! And Ann - congrats on the size 8 I think I was size 8 at birth (my Mom told me I was the largest baby in the nursery at the time ) I'm currently in a size 12, which I never thought I would fit in again, and I'm hoping for a 9/10 - that would be heaven for me! My NSV this past week was on our family vacation to the beach - I was boogie boarding and body surfing with my young boys, making sand castles, and I went for a 25 minute run barefoot on the beach at sunset. I felt so light and full of energy - what a HUGE difference from last summer! And I was down 2 lbs when I got home - I LOVE THE BAND!!!!

RJ has moved to the next step for herself!
NMJG replied to RJ'S/beginning's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Way to go RJ! I started with a trainer this month, too. It's so worth it. Just finished my third week. Sometimes I think I'm going to die it's so hard, and then I'm frustrated because I'm not losing lbs. on the scale. But, lots of NSV's: My lean body mass was only 100 lbs. (out of 211) last spring, and now it's 111 llbs. I gained 10 lbs of muscle since then. Yay! I'm not nearly as flabby and there are actually muscles under there that have been dormant for a decade I can lift and move things that I couldn't before. I don't feel nearly so helpless as I did Best of luck to you in this program. You can do it! -
Oh, yeah!! What an amazing NSV! To look good and be pleased about how you look in clothes.

That is one of the awesomest NSVs I've heard =) What a neat surprise!

sleep Apena NSV I found out last June that I had sleep apena and started using the CPAP machine about a month before being banded. I had a pressure setting of 12 and now down to a 7. I have lost close to 50lbs since being banded 6 months ago. I have been having problems with to much air etc. along with not wearing the mask the whole night. I talked to the doctor about it and he suggested that we try using a dental device instead. Insurance approved me for the device and I have started to use it and it is great. Here are pictures of the device. The dentist who deals only with sleep apnea feels that this device will work for me and that she wants to do a sleep study in about 4-6 months to ensure that it is working. If it is working then I will not need to use the CPAP. I think the preop diet will hopefully help with postoperative cravings because we are getting through them now. NSV: On my fourth day or diet, I went to a Mexican resteraunt with my brother's fiance and sipped water while I watched her eat and drink a margarita!! Yay to everyone who can hold against cravings!!

Hi, It was a year ago when I started my dr supervised weight watchers program for 6 months, then my surgery was July 21, 11. I started at 440lbs and today I weigh 330lbs. I just wanted to share my NSV's 1) I'm wearing jeans for the first time in 25 years! 2) I can walk everywhere with my kids! 3) I enjoyed shopping for the first time in a LONG time! 4) I wore my honey moon nightie for the first time in 7yrs! 5) I've decided to go back to school to change my career..big decision! 6) My hubby had surgery in Aug and wow the whoopie is sooo much better! TMI! I am so happy I did this, I have so much further to go and I hope to loose another 100 this year and with the sleeve and faith and persistence I will get there. Thanks for listening and this past years support! Tracy

Hello fellow losers!!! I'm reporting in for the Sept Challenge. Would you believe I stayed the same?!? Man, I thought for sure I would report at least the pound I lost last week. It is my TOM, but this is getting old. I talked to my surgeon's office and scheduled my first fill. I'm keeping my original follow-up for 9-18 and getting a fill at the same time. WAIT, I'm going to call them back and schedule it sooner. Why wait? It's time for my first fill. I have been playing with the same few lbs for weeks now. Can't wait to feel "real" restriction. I do have an NSV though......I'm now wearing some of my smaller sexier bras. Why do the boobs go first? I hope to wear my Victoria's Secret soon. They are my favorite. :biggrin1: Alicia ~ Way to go!!! You are a braver woman than I am. Keep us updated on your training. I started at the Y and will enjoy it more now with my Ipod. Hey Kim, where do you stand on a fill? Oops....I'm out of time. Need to leave for swim lessons. Where does the time go? Great job everyone!!! Thanks for keeping me motivated!!!

Awesome that you're getting the attention you deserve for your success. Now the package that the attention came in....well I'll leave that up to your interpretation. Congratulations on a huge NSV! -
Thia is a way off the charts NSV!!!
Buckeye Girl replied to Julie76's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Congrats on the story! When I get a compliment on my looks, I feel like it's a pity compliment or like what they really want to say is, you're really pretty for a fat girl. It will be interesting to see if my thoughts change after my surgery. I feel really stupid but can someone tell me what NSV stands for? -
The full pouch thing is hard. The reason why is that if you are eating hard Proteins (fish, chicken, beef, etc) you will never again feel that 'Thanksgiving' full again. If you feel that 'full' feeling that we used to feel when we gorged ourselves into oblivion, you have probably eaten around the band with softer foods that made it past the band. This was one of my first NSVs: going to bed without feeling like an awful person because I had eaten everything that didn't move. I can't relate to you in words the relief I have felt not going to bed stuffed and miserable at night. It's what I love about the band the most. With the hard proteins, they fill the pouch ABOVE the band quicker and don't allow much of anything else to go through. This is when you get your sign to stop or you have things coming back up. Signs are subtle but serious. If I ever get that one big hiccup or start sneezing or feel myself sort of burp inside, that's my clue it's time to stop. It's not a sign that I can get by with two or three more bites, it's generally a serious warning that if I go any further I'm going to be sorry. Could this hunger possibly have more to do with 'head hunger' than real tummy hunger? I think you'll find that if you replace the grilled cheese on Rye with a tuna salad kit or a chicken breast or piece of Schwans Baked Scrod that it will stick with you longer. Just so you know, though. I fully understand your hunger monster. It seems when the evening comes and I'm alone here that mine starts stalking too. They say we have to replace it with something. Exercise perhaps? Reading a good book? More sleep? A movie?

Couples getting VSG?
dgoerlitz replied to SamIAm3791's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My husband had the bypass at the end of September and I had the sleeve at the beginning of December. He is doing amazing...down 80ish pounds and off of nearly all his diabetes meds. I am down 74 pounds. It was...and still is...SO much easier for us to do this together! He went first, so he was a tremendous help the first few days when I was trying to figure out protein drinks and stuff like that. We had no problems with our insurance. It really helps us stay accountable too, since we are in this for the long haul and doing it together. At the same time, we are sharing very similar NSVs and really enjoying finding new things we can do together, and being able to do some of the things we used to do together again that we had stopped doing because of our weight.
