Ok, Saturday was my 1st day being able to have meat. So for dinner, I had 3 meatballs. Keep in mind they are tiny, and i broke them up and chewed really well. After, i was kind of nautious, but the feeling passed. However I also had a migraine, and an hr later decided to take some tylenol with codeine liquid which burned the whole way down. Then 4 hrs later, I had a pain in my sternum that radiated to my back, and i didnt know if i was gonna throw up or poop ( TMI ) ..i tried water, but that seemed to make it worse.....I was totall paranoid that I should go to emergency, but after about an hr it went away. Is this normal, and does this mean I shouldn't try meat for a while?

Hey Violets~ It is 3:50am and I am up...and have been up since about 3. I slept yesterday until noon 30 and now I am paying the price for that. Plus, I've pee'd all night. I am very swollen everywhere from the IV and all the liquids. Plus...uuummm...gassy! They gave me a shot of Pepcid and something else, plus Zophran for the nausea and all that = gas! Sorry, TMI I know. So I am up watching All My Children. Janie~ I sent you a PM:wink_smile: I hope that spider is LONG GONE! Spiders generally don't bother me too much. Not a fan or anything. What I hate are Palmetto bugs (big dark brown cockroach things, popular in the desert), and any lizard, rat, mouse thingy. 2 September's ago (2005), I had a big fat desert rat and her boyfriend move in. They came in through the kitchen...little bitch ate through the wall. I moved into a hotel for a week. The company came and set the traps...and caught 'em. Bastards were as big as my feet! Oh yeah, and I'll start crying ASAP if I see a snake! Good luck on the garage sale Haydee! I am gonna have another mini one in a few weeks. We've got a TV, surround sound, some other electronics, and misc household items since we put the 2 houses together. Kat~ Sorry about the wind I sent your way. It was blustering here for a week and a half, and it is finally quite. It is supposed to get up to near 100 tomorrow...and then back down to low 90's mid week...when more wind returns. So what can I ramble on about in the middle of the night??? Susanne has an appointment @ 8:30 for an MRI, then we are going to have breakfast somewhere...then maybe a movie. I feel pretty good. A bit crampy...a bit of bleeding...and a kick ass sore throat. Other than that I feel pretty good. I may crash out this afternoon, since I've slept sooo poorly all night. I have never ever ever not been able to sleep. Don't like it much. OK...I'll stop the ramble before I lose the post. Off to play scrabble... xoxoxoxox

Linda - this isn't tmi - it's a fact of the band  It's mucous and not slime - do you have a cold/sinus - I know this sounds dumb asking a nurse - but you say mucous aand not slime.... I assume you are taking some kind of anacid before you go to bed. Are you that tight?? Right now I have a little heartburn - but will be leaving for the gym in a bit and I always stick a piece of gum in my mouth and do you know that takes away the heartburn (omw I sallowed a piece last week - but didn't have a problem) - I get it (hb) from just drinking water sometimes - But I have only pb'd at night from eating too much (midnite raids - that one more bite of pudding) Eat some ice chips - that one support group meeting I did go to said to do that after pbing and I would stick to slider foods (soups and bland stuff just like you would treat an ulcer) and no wine or mixed drinks (sorry ) maybe you are just very irritated. Not much help - but am trying (Hugs) to help a little You were self pay??? Your insurance doesn't cover fills?? Ya I could see why you wouldn't want to spend $600 - but if it last over the weekend I would - cuz they say being too tight can cause problems.. Hugs - I am sorry that you are having problems

Warning: May be TMI Hi friends, I have to tell you that I'm starting to have problems again . The last two nights were terrible. Every time I fell asleep I'd start refluxing. The first night I thought it was b/c I ate too much supper too late and too fast, so yesterday I had nothing to eat and only water to drink after 1 pm! I worked till 10 pm and went to bed very, very tired. Every time I'd relax and start falling asleep I'd start coughing b/c there was stuff in my throat. My nose would be full of mucous, and eventually, I'd start bringing up large amounts of mucous. This went on all night long until I called it quits at 5 am. During the day I don't have any problems, but when I laid down after work tonight I could feel it starting again. I don't have a lot of acidity, just all this mucous. I suppose an unfill is in order, but to be honest, I can't afford another $300 + $300 to refill again. I hope by relaxing this weekend, and sticking to slider foods, I can get past this. Any advice?

Howdy! I had the worst hiccups for the 1st week after surgery. It wasn't that they lasted for a while (cause they did), but that they hurt! I still get them but not as much. ****TMI**** - stinky pee and stinky breath have hit...... UGH, I have never been able to smell my own breath before, but now I can.... ew! My toothbrush and I and now spending significant time together. Last night I turned wrong and had a sharp pain that was sharp enough to wake me up. I moved a little tenderly after that. I didn't have any pain today, but a little soreness. I hope I didn't do anything! It was in an odd place, on my ribs to the left... I guess if it doesn't really hurt, I shouldn't be worried. Lynn: I'm with you. My jeans are fitting better every time I put them on! woohoo! Diva: I wish I had lost as much as you! I lost 8 pounds in 15 days. Don't dispair, I'm sure the scale will move soon. Plus, if you figure you loose 10 pounds a month, that is 120 pounds a year! Amanda: good information as usual! Kerri: I'm with you about the scale. I do have one, but am forcing myself to get on it only once a week. It is tough, but it was driving me nuts!

BooBooKitty, Ok, I've brought this up before in another thread but truth be told, that cute bull dog puppy is just a pic I found because I found it to be so cuuuute!!! My actual dogs are rescue dogs from Puerto Rico, Moxie a sato girl and Kiba a rescue boy from Hurricane Katrina, a rottie/shepherd mix. The sato looks more like a larger min pin. When I can get my husband to put their pics up I'll change my avatar. Because they are my babies and I love them even when they are rotten, but they are also very spoiled! Especially now that my daughters in 19 and 23 it's easier to baby the dogs! I'll have to search your dog breed on line. I'd love a bull dog but I really can't because these two are more than anyone can handle. Second truth be told which I haven't told anyone, brandy is the name of my beagle that died a few years ago and she was my favorite dog ever except for the two I have now and she was my second dog so that's where "brandyII" comes from. I named her after that song from the 70s, that went something like "Brandy you're a fine girl what a good wife you would be". Anyway I always liked that song, plus the breeders called her family line Brandywine or something like. Okay tmi for you all, sorry. brandyII.

Jack, I truly am sorry that your family was exposed to Hanford, let me say that first. Hanford was basically a dept of defense site. DOD sites do not follow the same rules or any rules for that manner that a power producing nuclear site does. Basically they can do what they want because they say that it is for the greater good, its actually a totally separate operating space. Unfortunately the operating nuclear power plants of today are plagued by DOD sites and the Chernobyl's and TMI's.

Wow Steph you look great. And I think it does get easier to post the before pictures. You get to the point (or at least I did) that your pride in what you have accomplished far outways the horror of the old pictures. I am really, really tired today and I slept A LOT last night. I think the whole roller coaster week with PS has made my body revolt. Either that or I am coming down with something. The change in foods has also caused problems with my digestive system and I have been VERY gassy (I know TMI) lately. And it does NOT smell like roses either! On another note...I am sick of food. I wish that I could just eat everything I needed for the entire day and then just forget about it for the rest of the time. With all the meals that I have to eat I struggle to get in my water, and I am sick of feeling stuck all the time. Today was better for the stuck feeling. I think part of my problem this week was the stress of the PS search. When I am under stress my band tightens up like the jaws of an alligator! Never thought I would say that I was sick of food, but alas...I am! Well I have a ton of stuff to do for class tomorrow and it would be great to sleep in. Janet you are making up for my time at the gym this week. I had all intentions of going last night but I fell asleep on the couch last night and didn't wake up until my DH came home from work at 10:30 pm. OOPSY! Then he took today off so I won't want to go tonight and it is weightlifting night! Maybe I will get in a day on my day off.

Long and some TMI!!! So I was contemplating to go or not to go to my fill appointment next week.. well I ended up seeing my surgeon first thing this am!!! I got car sick on Sunday going the beach with DH and kids...monday I did liquids and Tuesday felt better and had some eggs (ok I had one bite of scramled egg) and lost it.. the entire day my pouch hurt.. liquids were hurting..by 3pm I had puked twice and it went down hill from there.. I was mentally hungry but not able to eat anyhting.. so i made some tea thinking it would help..nope..that all came up.. so now I had to take my dd to gymnastics..got sick twice there..took her to dinner while we waited for her cousin..the Water made me puke.. so now i realize i am not feeling good..i got sick 6 more times before getting home.. at home i was gtting sick every 5-10min..(No I had not eaten or drinken anything,,,I was not able to swallow my saliiva which in return came up with a lot of force).. around 9 I get into bed and have DH get me the bucket,..I had no energy to get to the toilet.. I was not thinking straight either..after getting sick in my bucket 4more times I finally sleep propped up in sever pain with heating pad (i thouight may help).. so 1am it starts again.. now its stomach bile..I panic..I have not attempted any liquid in over 7hours and I feel as though my stomach has come up through the port opening..I call my local ER and they have no clue what to do with the band..I cried.. I was scared and 2hrs from my surgeon..so I call the on call..he says come down first thing in am and that I need a complete unfill.. I manage to go to sleep in pain and no puking..at 530 when DH is in shower I inform him that he needs to drive me to surgeons..so we call the nanny and get on the road at 630.. I called my surgeon when we go into town and she met us at her office (she told me that she wanted a barium test done after fill to check for slippage) so she undoes the fill ..when she says Wow...thats a lot of Fluid in there..that is way to much!!!! she said that she is having issues filling this band ( holds 4ccs) and was not happy.. after teh unfill I was still in a lot of pain.. she would not let me drink in case they needed to do surgery..so off to the hospital..i do the nasty barium and all is good!!!! she says liquids for 2 weeks and see her in 4-6 to start fills again!!! I am relieved.. I was in pain and I should have gone in sooner!!! I was sooooo happpy to drink water after I got the all clear!!! My hubby said he has not seem me drink so much in a long time!!! I am very sore but feeling better!! I do not feel as though my stomach is upside and stuck in the stoma anymore!!! I am going to do SBD as soon as I can handle food!! I love the food (my entire family is SBD lifestyle and lately I could only handle a bite or 2 of food) Dr said the swelling could take a few weeks to go down...but I am hopefull it will be better sooner!! Thanks for reading!!! This was very scary to me!!!

What were you glad you had you had onhand post surgery?
losingitforlife replied to dancinglamb's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
By far my best friend was the heating pad. I brought it to the hospital with me and to this day, use it  So comforting on a sore tummy and now it helps when I have gas pain, but that might be TMI. This may be TMI - so you may want to stop reading.................. But I had a visit from Aunt Flo for the first time in 6 or 8 months.....my dr said it would come back when I lost weight. Not really a "victory" since that whole process sucks, but it does show I am losing!

Just to comment on #1 and 3 - I actually didn't have a preop diet, I did some slimfast / sensible dinners - sort of for a couple weeks before my surgery and lost 5lbs but after surgery it took me days to actually have to poo and when I did I wasn't even backed up. TMI I know haha. And to # 3 - just hehehe maybe. Well I did my own preop smarter eating diet and lost 5 lbs BUT I had a bad case of the "last supper syndrome" and between knowing I'd be getting it for sure and waiting for surgery date I easily gained 15+ lbs. *sigh* so I'd be counted in that category of a poll lol. What you said about the empty stomach before surgery does makes sense ... although I've never had to have that (besides the no food/drink after midnite on day of surgery thing) with any of my surgeries, interesting to know though - thankfully I don't have anesthesia issues and it doesn't make me sick/diarrhea at all. Good to know for others though.

Georgia Girl, you poor thing. I would have been mortified. I got some cranberry capsules today. I used to take them all the time but then my dr. put me on a low dose of antibiotics which I have taken for years. I can only assume my body has built up a tolerance to them. Good think I don't have a bf or DH. I used to get a UTI every time I had sex. (okay I know TMI again) All Boys, stay out of this thread!

Post-Op Gas Pain - How long??
lifechange82 replied to IVIozartsGhost's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
omg...i had the WORST gas pain up until 2 or 3 days ago...and i couldnt get it to come out...it just kinda moved around my body. it is very painful, but dont worry it will clear up. also, make sure you are are having regular bowel movements. i know constipation made my gas much worse. sorry if thats TMI!!!!!!!!!!!! -
On Saturday we had Outback, I had chicken and veggies, and a few cheese fries. Well everything was under control. Then I don't know what happened, I was like an eating machine. Needless to say, I was in serious pain in the middle of the night. I vomited a few times, and was very nauseated and sore. Oh, and my urine was way way dark ( I know tmi). I called my dr. office and they told me that what I was feeling was normal and to go back to liquids and work my way back up. I guess I'm really in a mental struggle right now between old habits and my new teacher (the band). I have often felt I am a control freak and the one thing I would let go on is food, does that make sense? Anyhow, now I think I am not able to tolerate acidic things like my crystal light. Hopefully this won't last long. I do feel ok, but I really screwed up, and I will not let this happen again.

Yep, I believe that was the purpose, it gave you a little added extension. I was constipated (I know, I know...TMI) for 3 weeks after my surgery so I never needed them.

Michelle~ WOOFREAKINHOO!!!:Banane20::wink2::Banane20::eek::Banane20::Banane20::Banane20::Banane20::Banane20: I am glad your losing...cause I sure as hell am not! Good for you honey! Tracy~I loved it...and yes I know about the POV and the new nom's too. I don't think Pinky is gonna fare well this week, but crazier things have happened. Good for you getting a small unfill. I've been there...hated puking all the time. Long boring day for me, but at least it was a day off. I am feeling VERY anemic this week, and bleeding heavy (sorry for the TMI, but you are all grownups, you can take it:tt2:). And this is not my period. CANT WAIT FOR THIS TO GO AWAY! OK...I came home from the training, ate a pile of strawberries and whip cream (naughty naughty), took a nap for an hour, and now I am off to jazzercise! BBL xoxoxoxoxo

Sue---my surgeon said that to do one without the other, left people so unhappy, he does it as part of the procedure most of the time now. He said some minor lipo, then simple skin manipulation of the mons would do it for me. Warning this might well be TMI----but following my chemo, not a lot of pubic hair regrew--so he said my pubic hair line being nonexistant will allow him to make a smooth transition without much problem. He too discouraged one without the other. He said we might not notice the bulge of it now, being hid under the belly---but after it is gone, if they do not do the mons lift, it is highly noticable, in cases like mine anyway. So it is getting done as well. Mine is going to just be hip bone to hip bone he is not extending it. My hips, my back, and my butt are all in fair shape for what hell I have put them through!!! I do not have love handles, or muffin top problems--------just a hanging belly. Right now it is a huge shock that I don't just fall on my face and lie there, all my weight is in the boobs and belly!!!!! Kat

Stupid people and their stupid opinions
Gone4Now replied to spoodles's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm the opposite...I tell everyone. If they give me a problem (which, for the most part hasn't been an issue) then I ask them if they've done their research. The answer is always "NO, but I have a friend who's mother...." Yada, yada... I tell people everything anyway...I'm always the way TMI person! :purplebananna: I think if I had a problem with people's responses, I'd stop telling them. It does get annoying with the, "Can you eat that?" questions, but I know they're just curious. I enjoy educating. Now, I've had several people come to me and say, "A friend wants this done. What do you suggest?" So, if by telling people, and handling the stupidity that comes with it, I can help others consult their doctors about it - then so be it. I love my band and can't help but share it. -
Janet - I go to the gym 4-5 days a week. I am really sick of people telling me that I am eating wrong (Not you guys, cause you all understand). First it was I was eating too much and all unhealthy foods. Okay I agree. Now I am not eating enough and TOO healthy. So I don't want to add back the fat and frankly I don't feel great when I eat a lot of carbs. I know that they are supposed to be great for energy, but when I eat a lot of them I feel sluggish and get really gassy. I know TMI. I FEEL BETTER when I eat my proteins. If you have ever looked at the blood type diet, I am supposed to eat high protein and low carb for my blood type. I don't know if that diet is hooey or not, BUT I can tell you this: I know my body better than any 95$ per hour nutritionist and I feel ucky when I eat a lot of carbs. I just got another email from her that suggested I go to 4 days a week for exercise. That is an option that I am not totally opposed to. I mean then I still maintain the habit and I think that it would be easier to add back another day at the gym then cut portion sizes and food types if I start gaining. MAINTENANCE SUCKS! Anyone want to trade me places. ADVERTISEMENT: At weight MARRIED female seeks still losing female to switch bodies for short term. Successful at losing weight, but suck at maintaining. Think anyone will take me up on it. Though I am telling you if you trade me bodies you get this belly to go with it. That would probably be a deal breaker for everyone. Sorry I am in such a sour mood. Just sick of this nutritionist. I don't think I am going to email her any more since she can't give me the advice I need. I promise I will come back tonight in a better mood. I just need to go do some HEALTHY, adequate carb cooking therapy!

TMI maybe but I need this answered!
heidismiles posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello everyone, this might be to much information for you, but I need to know if anyone else had this happen. I am 6 days out and I started on my full liquids yesterday morning. Every since I have started eating full liquids, I have spent a LOT of time in the bathroom! Peeing yes, but almost every time I go pee I go the other way too. Needless to say my bum is starting to hurt. Is this normal? Please let me know..sorry if it was to much for some. Thanks Heidi:confused2:
