    obsession

I do try to not get on the scale multiple times during the day (its hard but I try) because I know that it fluctuates several times during the day. I usually weight first thing in the morning. After I have used the restroom and before I climb into the shower. I want to be at my lightest for the day. I have had NSV I'm wearing my wedding band for the first time in years (got too small). My feet no longer fit in my dress shoes. I'm wearing 2 pant sizes smaller and nothing is tight on me. I managed to chaperone a lockin with the music department with of my daughters school. At a pizza place and only ate the cheese off the top of a piece of pizza around midnight to keep my energy up. While I walked the arcade for 8 hours helping keep 300 kids in line last weekend. Never could have done that 58lbs ago. I am grateful to have be on this journey. Am I perfect no but I'm better. I just love that I can be not perfect for a change and still see the scale more. The most frustrating thing for me and diets is when I'm perfectly eating exactly what I'm supposed to and busting my butt working out and not seeing the scale move. So, yeah so watching it move is entertaining to me :-D

    Flying Tomorrow....

I fly about twice a year and usually had to ask for a seat belt extender. One of my favorite NSV was when, in March, I flew to Illinois to see my sister and nephew and I did NOT need an extender!! I am flying to DC next month on a different airline (so possibly a different make of plane) and I am looking forward to seeing how I fit in the seat! Good luck everyone!

3/25/09 Get Your Head In The Game

Not to be a buzz kill, but head hunger happens even after banding. You're right though, my choices in "cheating" have changed. I know I can't have some of DH's sub sandwich because dense bread and my stoma don't play well together, so I steal just the meat! LOL! Sure, some of my choices are just plain bad, but I can't pig-out-binge until the whole bag of cookies is gone anymore. Does such naughtiness slow down my weight loss? Yes. Does it kill it? Not so far. Yes, I'm a paranoid Scale Whore and will be for many years to come, but the NSV's keep me pretty much on the path to healthy weight and well-being. Speaking of which, Time for me to go ride my exercise bike! I'm stiff and sore from running up and down the steps of the theatre last night. Me! Running! It's a miracle!

    NSV's :)

I have a few from the last couple of weeks, that I'm just gonna put together The first one is that I found my class ring about a week and a half ago, and it fits. I graduated in 99, and quit wearing the ring a few years later when it was more comfortable on my pinky. Now it fits, and there's even just the slightest amount of extra room. I'm always adjusting it because it goes crooked, but I'm ok with that . I didn't even realize that this was an NSV until like 3 days later, lol. The 2nd one is that I bought 2 pairs of jeans the other night. One of them was size 16 from the plus size section (everything in that section is stretch. I used to be glad, but now it irritates me). The other pair of pants is size 17, non-stretch from the Juniors Department! The 17's are actually tighter than the 16s, but I was just happy to get something from the juniors department at all, lol. And THEN! Last night I took a bath. I hadn't actually taken a bath in a while (still shower tho ), and it occured to me that I could sit in the bath and not be touching EITHER SIDE of the tub with my body! Yay! I've been through some frustrating times, and some times where I just resigned myself to the idea that I'd lost some weight, but I was always going to be bigger than average, but at least I'd stay healthy... but I'm getting back into the groove where I feel like this is going to work for me again, and I'm working it right as well.

Yippie Sarah! You are so right - these NSV's are certainly as exciting as seeing that scale drop. LOVED the bathtub one!

    NSV's :)

Great Nsv's. this is exactly what I mean when I say " do not let the numbers on the sclae dictate your success or failures with the band, think of all of the possitive things that you have accomplished since being banded

    Amazing NSV !

I am in complete shock and disbelief! This morning I headed to the track for my ususal exercise - walk and jog a total of 2 or 3 miles. Lately I've been jogging one lap non-stop then walking with a little bit of jogging mixed in when I felt I could do it. Well, this morning when I got to the track I started jogging right off the bat. I was just finishing my lap and I decided to keep going, next lap same thing, then again and again. In total I jogged 1 mile (4 laps) non-stop!!! Then I continued to walk another 2 & 1/2 miles. Never in my life have I jogged a mile! I feel amazing knowing that I am getting stronger; my heart is stronger, my lungs are stronger, my muscles are stronger, and my determination and belief in myself is stronger than ever! I can't believe I did it! And I can't wait to do it again tomorrow!

    My Latest NSV

Great NSV! I have been getting embarassed when we eat out cause I get full on about 2 bites. Then I have the whole meal to take home. I know I shouldn't be embarassed, but I am. Good for you for ordering off the kids menu!! I think I need to either try this or eating off of everyone else's plates, like someone on here mentioned. I just hate going out to eat now!

    My Latest NSV

We went out to dinner last night with the kids and our neighbors to Outback. I wasn't really hungry so I mustered up the courage to ask for the first time if I could order off the kid's menu. The server was very nice and said of course - not a problem. Well, dinner came and they were handing out the food and a different server couldn't figure out where the extra kid's dinner went. Raised my hand and avoided eye contact because I was embarassed. Onto the NSV - by the time everyone had cleaned their plates, I was full and only was able to eat 1/3 of the kid's meal! I took home a "doggie" bag with the balance! I figured then the server knew I wasn't just trying to be cheap! Thanks for letting me share!

    September 8 Sleeves Thread

Sooo....since we still have 6 days of fabulous pre op diets to survive, I'd like to focus on some of the NSVs that we're looking forward to. I know we all have several we could list, so let's share what you're excited about. Me? I can't wait to wear a pair of jeans (or anything for that matter) without my "front a**" hanging out! (I have a lot of extra skin from my pregnancies/ c-sections, and that coupled with carrying around extra fat...gives me a big pooch in front...like an a** in front. HATE it!!!) I wanna feel good and look good in my clothes! What's yours??

    And So Our Journey Begins...

My birthday was on Friday, and it was pretty emotional for me, since it was the first one since my divorce this year but I didn't make bad food decisions I also am 1 lb shy of my goal of 25 lb down since surgery. I am 24 lb down since July 24. I'm not sure if I fall under the slow loser category or not but I'm pretty okay with my progress, especially since I know it's only a little over a month out. I still have a long way to go! I decided to give myself a break from protein shakes, they make my mouth taste funny and they aren't delicious. I've been concentrating on getting protein in food form, and I've been doing okay. I can definitely do better, I just don't have the room, or the desire to eat! I went out to dinner at Applebees for my birthday last night with my friends, and I had an AMAZING time, it really reminded me that I have great friends and people love me. I had the quesadilla burger and I half the patty with some salsa, it was really good. They brought out my birthday dessert, a scoop of vanilla ice cream with some chocolate sauce and whip cream and I ate two spoonfuls and wanted no more. That was huge for me, as I was a big time sweets addict. When people would say they don't crave sweets after surgery I didn't believe them and now I see that it is true!! We also went to bar and I had half a small drink that didn't hit me at all alcohol wise, though I still feel the post drinking dehydration hitting me this morning. I went on a shopping spree with my mom yesterday with all my happy birthday discounts and I went to Ross and bought three future shirts. I'm looking forward to wearing them in a month! They don't look too bad on me now actually. They are all 2x from Ross and I use to have a problem finding 3x shirts that fit at Ross, so yay NSV!!

    Winded Wabbits

Finally a place I can call home. Yes, I have had good losses at certain times - during pre-op diet, after surgery, after fill 2 (overfill) but now I'm settled down and am pretty consistently losing .4 - .6 pounds per week. Last month I did a little better - trying to win the holiday challenge - but I notice that I'm not even a contender there and I ended up with so many blisters on my feet that I can't hardly walk. So I will come here to post my nsv (none lately) and scale/inch victories. Thanks for starting this. Celeste

    Winded Wabbits

Okay, I managed to lose .1 pound last month - according to my dr. So I decided we need to start recognizing our NSVs here. I bought purple jeans about 3 weeks ago that were tight - and today they fit just fine. I lost my measurement book so I didn't measure for awhile. Then I found my measurements for June and July. Holy crapole, have I lost inches... I have never worn 12s (and baggy 12s) when I weighed this much 178 in the past. Somehow I keep losing fat and not muscle. I have tracked body fat with my scale and my measuring shows a total weight loss of 35.6 pounds with only 4 pounds of that being lean mass and the remainder fat loss. Okay, some other wabbits need to post their NSV. I'm guessing we will really slow down with the holidays so its time to recognize the victories. Celeste

May 2006 Band Crew ~ August Chat

Hello fellow losers!!! I'm reporting in for the Sept Challenge. Would you believe I stayed the same?!? Man, I thought for sure I would report at least the pound I lost last week. It is my TOM, but this is getting old. I talked to my surgeon's office and scheduled my first fill. I'm keeping my original follow-up for 9-18 and getting a fill at the same time. WAIT, I'm going to call them back and schedule it sooner. Why wait? It's time for my first fill. I have been playing with the same few lbs for weeks now. Can't wait to feel "real" restriction. I do have an NSV though......I'm now wearing some of my smaller sexier bras. Why do the boobs go first? I hope to wear my Victoria's Secret soon. They are my favorite. :biggrin1: Alicia ~ Way to go!!! You are a braver woman than I am. Keep us updated on your training. I started at the Y and will enjoy it more now with my Ipod. Hey Kim, where do you stand on a fill? Oops....I'm out of time. Need to leave for swim lessons. Where does the time go? Great job everyone!!! Thanks for keeping me motivated!!!
  21. I've been jogging on my treadmill pretty much every day for the last couple of weeks, of course always taking at least one day off to rest. It was just a couple of weeks ago that I had to take a serious look at what I was eating and how much exercise I was getting. It was at that time I decided I had to get off my butt and get some real exercise. Yesterday, for the first time since starting my journey, I was able to jog the entire way. I do a 30 minute workout that has a warm-up for a couple of minutes and cool down for a couple of minutes with interval hills throughout. I usually have to stop at least once to walk, but yesterday jogged for the entire 25 min. I'll need to up the intensity before long to keep it challenging. I was really excited to be able to do that. It feels so good to be jogging again. I used to love to run and now I'm on my way again. I feel such a sense of accomplishment. I know it doesn't compare to those out there who are doing marathons and such, but it's my victory and I'm going to embrace it. I wore a dress to church today that I couldn't wear before surgery and now it's a little big. I even got several compliments today about how "slim" I am looking. I don't see it, but others must. That's the kind of thing that will keep me going. It drives me to get on the treadmill everyday even though some days I just don't want to. I've also decided every couple of weeks to change up my routine and do something either different or harder. This week I'm going to start lifting weights again. My DH and I have an entire set in the garage that we've both stopped using. It's time to dust them off and get going. I'm dying to go sleeveless. The Texas heat is upon us and it's time to tone up these arms. I want this weight gone. Truth be told, I would really like for it to be gone tomorrow, but I know that's not likely to happen. For now I'm content to use my band as a tool and work my way back to my old self. Whoever that is. I guess we'll just have to wait and see who emerges.
  22. I have a wonderful NSV. I work for my Surgeon. Well, they are here every other week and today's the first day I have seen any of the team ( Doc, Nutritionist and Psych) since before Christmas. I love our Nut, she is wonderful. She told me I am so tiny and that I don't look like I need to lose anymore weight. I have been told by a couple of people at work, but you never know if they are just being nice. I still can't see a huge difference myself. Anyone else have this problem? My Biggest NSV

You are amazing! That is a fantastic NSV. So when is the first 5K going to happen??? You should be very proud. It's quite a gift you've given yourself.

    What a day!

I'm really pleased for you. It's great when the numbers show success, as well as the NSVs. Good luck to you.

    What a day!

I am so happy right now! I was down another 1.5 pounds today and when I plugged it into my spreadsheet I saw some things that just made me stop and take a moment to process. Total loss: 42.6 Total percent lost: 15% Total remaining: 30% I have lost 1/3 of the weight I want to lose in 5 1/2 months! That potentially means that in a year from now I could be at goal if I keep losing at the same rate!!!! The best one of all... my BMI is now at 36.8 (down from 43.3) Some NSVs for today as well... I'm wearing my size 20 jeans again (even though they are completely out of style) I'm wearing a size XL sweatshirt that is not a MANS XL! I'm just taking a moment to savor the unexpected side effects of this journey. What a day!
