No, not intending to lose more weight @Sophie7713 just trying to stabilise & work out that fine line between weight gain & weight loss. For me it’s very narrow. Going back to work as been a bit of a challenge. In retail, you can’t say to a customer sorry have to have my snack & walk away. Bones everywhere. The house we rented had rustic timber bench seats at the dining table. I had to sit on a cushion & have one at my back to protect my bony butt & spine. One of my 6yr old nieces asked why I was so skinny. I said so she could give me really good hugs ... so she did. I’d be ok if I put on a kg or 2 to get me back to a BMI of 20. Love the glorious pxts of flowering plants. Spring is such a wonderful time. BTW you’re looking fabulous, Sophie. Your achievement is so inspiring. Chores done, now relaxing. Think I’ll watch the last episode of Hunters.

Just a little vent about clothing sizes. Spotted a pair of slouchy drop crotch pants on sale online. What size will I need I wondered? Got out out my handy dandy dress maker’s tape measure & checked the size guide. OMG it said I was a MED/large or a size 14 (US 10/12). WTF!?! 😱 Is this the children’s size guide I thought but even if it was I’m only a size 10/12 in children’s wear. Nope, definitely adult sizing. It’s an Aust company I’ve bought from before (XXS fitted knit dress & XS sweaters) just not pants. All my pants are Aust size 4 or 6. How could I be a size 14 in their eyes? I know I had some dessert at Christmas but not enough to cause a weight gain of 4 clothing sizes. 😉 GRRRR!

Another case of I’m glad I didn’t get rid of these shoes or boots this time. Bought these about 10years ago back when I was in my old usual weight range (before my menopause weight gain). I kept them because they were so lovely even though I thought they were too big at 38.5 (now a 37.5-38) & them being wide around the calf. I decided to put them on yesterday for the hell of it & they fit. A little big but thick socks helped then I remembered they did run a little small. Yes, I can put my hands down the sides but putting them over pants helped. Wore them today & two people stopped me to tell me how much they loved them. One was disappointed when I said they were about 10yrs old as she was going to ask where I bought them to get herself a pair.
  4. Ladies, you probably already know this, but i’ll say it anyway for the benefit of anyone else reading this: being afraid does nothing for you, especially for something you have some sort of control over. You are prime examples of weight loss success and YOU did this yourselves. As we all know, weight doesn’t come back on by itself. Its the result of lifestyle choices given your current situation. Yeah, it may be a little more difficult to maintain a certain weight and require more effort than previously expensed as time goes on, but you already know how to do it (and are doing it presently). Don’t be afraid of doing what you’ve already been doing! ❤️ P.S. further, you may find that any further weight gained or lost is just fine with you and not worth the effort to change. P.P.S. Or you may just stay they same with no changes at all! Bottom line…being scared is a waste of time and energy that could be better utilized for funner stuff lol. But yeah, i know, easier said.
  5. Finally got a cllue for my weight gain and dizziness...its mirena and iam going to get this thing out at my earliest!

Worldwide, more than 500 million people are obese,2 and obesity is one of the top global risk factors for death.3 Centers for Disease Control and Prevention: Overweight and Obesity http://www.cdc.gov/obesity/index.html. Causes of Obesity You gain weight when you eat more calories than your body needs. You need energy, or calories, for normal metabolism and for physical activity. Eating too many calories leads to weight gain and eventually obesity. What can lead to eating more calories than you need? Too Much Food, Not Enough Exercise Food, especially high-calorie food, tastes good, so it's hard to stop eating Turning to food when you're lonely, bored, happy or depressed High-sugar, high-fat foods can be addictive and cause physical and emotional dependence so that you crave them The food industry spends billions of dollars per year on advertising to make you want high-calorie food that you don't need Fast food and convenience stores are everywhere, so you eat even when you're not hungry Food is part of every party, gathering, meeting and other event in our society. It's hard to escape it! Ready-to-eat fast food and convenience foods are everywhere and cheap Not enough exercise. Going to the gym Sedentary lifestyles. A lot of us have desk jobs and don't move much throughout the day Other Causes of Obesity Genetics: some people are more likely to store fat when faced with the same diet choices as another person Health conditions, such as hypothyroidism, Cushing's syndrome and polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), can lower your metabolism so that you don't need as many calories per day, and eating too much is easy Medications can change your metabolism and cause weight gain Effects of Obesity Why is obesity such a problem? It hurts your health and quality of life, and it's expensive. Obesity costs the US $190 billion per year1 in medical expenses, and has additional indirect costs because of lost work productivity. Obese individuals take more sick days and have less energy at work. It can be costing you hundreds or thousands of dollars per year. Health Effects of Obesity Obesity kills. It can take 13 years off of your life if you are a young, morbidly obese man 20 to 30 years old with a BMI over 45.2 A woman in that category might live 8 years less than if she were at a healthy weight. Obesity raises your risk of: Diabetes (Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus) and pre-diabetes Heart disease Risk factors for heart disease, such as high cholesterol and triglycerides High blood pressure (hypertension), which can cause stroke, kidney disease and heart disease Osteoarthritis and joint pain Sleep apnea Asthma Some kinds of cancer Other Effects of Obesity It's not just about your health, but also about living a good life. Living with obesity can mean: Missing work and fun times due to illness More trips to the doctor and pharmacy Sitting out of activities with family and friends because you can't keep up or fit in (literally) Being unable to shop in normal clothing stores Depression Feeling embarrassed and being judged because of your looks Finkelstein E, Trogdon JG, Cohen JW, Dietz W. 7. Revision from vsg to bypass due to Gerd.. and weight gain? Any one underwent this procedure yet?

      CurvyCakes

I am scheduled to be revised from VSG to RNY on April 11th due to Severe GERD.

  8. I forgot to say that I started with a medication called Celexa for anxiety & depression. I thought I would be given Wellbutrin but the dr. chose Celexa due to added anti-anxiety benefits compared with Wellbutrin. Of the SSRI's this one has a low risk of weight gain (although it still has some risk). I have not noticed any increase in appetite or weight since I started two weeks ago, but I will be on the lookout as I get to therapeutic levels which can take anywhere from 6-12 weeks.

I took Zoloft and gained 30+ pounds. I am on Celexa now and it is weight-neutral for me. Everyone reacts differently, but hopefully it will be the same for you!

  10. I hate having such a problem with fluid retention. I know those 2-3 pounds of weight gain overnight is excess fluid but it is still disheartening to see on the scale.

I'm trying to get used to the idea that this is how it is going to go as I drop weight. I really gotta stop with the salty foods. I just love strong flavor so much :(.

  11. My internship started out like h3ll...racially oppressive in-patient Catholic psychiatric hospital + useless advisor + dual role supervisor = miserable + depressive first weeks + lack of sleep+ NO energy + weight gain! Enter awesome supervisor + supportive intern group + supportive seminar class = happy as $hit intern that is working with awesome supportive supervisor to change racist environment! Plus I'm loving working on the in-patient psych ward. Never a dull moment and I love the fast pace!

  12. I'm a little salty today for some reason. I will get over it. I think it really hit me somehow that I will have to make very careful choices for the rest of my life. I feel that I will never be able to indulge in the things I once enjoyed like a bottle of wine. Even if I do enjoy a 4-6 oz glass of wine... I have to worry about sugar, calories and weight gain. Sigh...

  15. hi, overall I have done ok, maybe not as good as I would like but I look at it this way... If I was not banded I would have had all my weight gained back, so yeah! I am doing alright!;) How much have you lost? I have 37 to goal, I started at 232/ 182 LBS. now. My advise would be to never give up, we have worked way to hard to just throw it all away, and last but not least do this for your self for a life time, NOT for an occation that will only last a day!! Good Luck to Ya!

  16. juice after surgury so I was "bummed" to see almost three pound weight gain *but called doc and they said normal* post op swelling etc. and sure enuff steady clicking down since, weight in this morning 6 days post op 215 so headed right direction and thats what counts. Good Luck on your surgury and keep me posted. Where are you located ??? Im in Florida.

  17. No weight loss in over a month! Good new is no weight gain but I am getting pretty aggravated. When I get back from vacation I will start low carb!!

  18. Thinking about my appointment on the 30th with my LB surgeon. It's been 2 years of steroids, an accident in September and no exercise due to pain. I am disgusted with my weight gain and the vomiting from the band. Hoping a solution can be found before I give up.

  19. Vacation weight gain gone now! Now to keep the weight loss happening! 9 lbs to goal!

  20. I have gon till D5 of my cycle w/o falling trap to the sweet cravings and I have no weight gain. I am so proud. Now I gotta get off so I can see how much weight I have lost. I have followed the LB rules for 2wks now and thats an accomplishment alone.

  21. Hi there, I've been technically banded for a year now and originally lost 137 lbs but due to heartburn and reflux I've been totally defilled 3 weeks ago and gained 12 lbs. I have 3 weeks to go before they fill me again with 6 cc's in a 14 cc band. I was up to 8.3 which was helping me lose weight consistently. I'm getting depressed and discouraged because of this weight gain which I worked so hard to lose. Has this happened to any of you, and if so, how do you cope?

  22. I go to get a fill wed and thank GOD! I don't have any restriction and it is killing me! I ate a 12in sub yesterday. It was healthy but damn!, I hadn't did that since last year! (lol) well, since may last year anyway. But no weight gain so im cool. Holla at ya later!

  23. OK its been a very very long time since my last post. I am coming up on my 2 year anniversary in Feb 08. I've not had a fill in probably 7months. I've noticed lately though 2 thing one a steady weight gain I think about 5-7lbs since my last fill and I've hingry all the time as if there is no restrictions and I've had no surgery at all. Now let be honest I've broken every band rule in existence especially driinking and eating. Which is the reason for this post. Is it possible that I may have permanently stretch my band......Help...suggestions...I have a fill appt in mid Jan09.

  24. hi. i saw your post regarding your fills. i don't know if you have reached restriction yet. however, my surgeon actually receives these devices before they are available to any other surgeons to test.

he no longer uses the realize because he says that it does not inflate properly to restrict and that it would not result in the proper weight loss, in fact could turn to weight gain.

instead of inflating inward to restrict, it tends to prolapse against the pressure of the stomach. inflate up/down/outward... which does not produce desirable results long term.
