1. So, I was pretty stoked this morning to get on my scale and finally see the 50+ pounds lost mark. It was quite the moment and it made me appreciate every ounce of the 51 pounds that I am now rid of! Having always been an athlete, it was scary to watch all of my excess pounds pile on after a few injuries left me unable to compete anymore. Then you become complacent (or at least I did), the outright lazy. The thought of getting off of the couch long enough to go for a run on the treadmill was just too much to think about, let alone actually getting off my a$$. It amazes me how my eating habits changed right along with my exercise habits (or lack of). I ate every single thing that I had never allowed myself to indulge in prior to my injuries…and enjoyed every, single bite. I couldn’t figure out how SOOOO much weight was piling on my body. I figured that is just how my body was originally supposed to be, and it just never was, since I was such an active person. Or, that is how I justified it to myself. So, now, after this morning’s humbling moment on the scale, I am 15 pounds away from my surgeon’s goal weight for me (and 40 pounds away from my own personal goal weight) but I am now on the other half of the battle (where the pounds lost weigh more than the pounds still to lose!) So, maybe it isn’t considered a NSV, but today, it totally felt like a victory!! It was a wonderful morning, a very humbling moment that made me feel for the first time in a very long time, that I am on the right track with my health. I didn’t really Celebrate my six month bandaversary (which was 3/27/13) because I was in the middle of a plateau and frustrated, so today, I am celebrating!! This site is inspiring, every one’s stories are inspiring!
2. Stay off the scale for awhile. Remove it from your home if you must. Measure yourself. Focus on the NSV's. I'm avoiding my scale like the plague. If I don't see the stall, there is no stall!
3. On day seven of pre-op diet....had NSV this morning: able to button jeans for first time in a year!!! Woo hoo! So excited for my surgery on April 19th!
4. WOW...that's a first!!! Another great NSV!!
5. U go girl!!!!! I can't wait to have that nsv!!!!!
6. Banjo257

Here's an NSV for ya.

Congratulations. Love nsv!!!
7. So my NSV for the day is... I had to tighten the straps on my sports sandals. Never thought about losing weight in my feet. LOL

Major NSVs

I went to the endocrinologist today and my a1c is 5.3, so I am no longer pre-diabetic!! My health was the main reason I had the surgery. Both of my parents were diabetics and my dad died of kidney failure from it at 62. My mom died of a heart attack at 57. I want to live to see my son grow up, go to college and get married. My endo said that once I reach my goal weight she will release me to my PCP for yearly thyroid monitoring (I have Hashimoto's), so that's another NSV. My blood pressure was 104/64, which is awesome! Even though I'm a slow loser, the scale is always moving in the right direction. I love my sleeve! HW 270 SW 255 CW 220

Pants, smants

Well today is a lovely day. My jeans...the ones I have been wearing for a few years...at least the size of jeans anyway (they never last that long because my thighs rub holes in them!!!)...have been getting really loose on me. I have one pair I can wear for about an hour before they just fall off. Which is really fantastic. So this morning I reach into my closet and pull out this pair from Maurice's that my mom bought me awhile back. And I took a DEEP breath. Then slowly, one foot then leg at a time, I pulled them on. They went up my legs(and didnt get stuck BEFORE my hips), then they went OVER my hips, then glory be...THEY BUTTONED!!!! I couldnt believe it. AND not only did they button, they were not tight ANYWHERE!!! I could grab excess fabric in my butt area and my thighs!!! These jeans were a pair I couldnt even get over my hips a few months ago. A full size smaller than the ones I had been wearing. And Maurices at that!! I think they run small!! (ok my experience, but that is what I am sticking to telling myself). What a great NSV!!!!! (because I needed it...no weight loss this week), but I will take the full size smaller, and I WILL ROCK IT!!!!

NSV #2

I don't know how much I have lost, but my pants were falling off the other day. I was a size 40 and went for new cargo shorts. Amazing enough the 36's fit perfectly!!! Surgery was March 20, guess I am really shrinking! I go in for my 1 month checkup Tuesday. We will see what I have lost then, my home scale is different than the office scale. I will use theirs as the "official".
11. CONGRATULATIONS! What a great NSV!

In need of some positive reinforcement

So you indulged.....we ALL do! It's only human! Now, throw them out & continue on! The biggest thing is you realized that you were headed in the wrong direction...unlike previous times!! I say that's a NSV!

Big NSV for me!

Great NSV!!!!!!!
14. I went to the mall to pick up a couple of pair of shorts (I live in Florida and it's already hot and I have nothing that fits...a nice problem to have...but still a problem.) My thought was to just hit JC Penny's and pick up a few things. On my walk to the dept store, I passed by Old Navy which was having a nice sale. My inner fat girl voice said, "you have never fit into anything in Old Navy...keep walking." But I stopped in and checked out their linen shorts. Super cute! I pulled an XL shorts off the rack and tried them on. TOO BIG!! My mean inner fat girl voice said, "a Large will never fit your fat butt...put the XL back and come back another day when you lose more weight." But I grabbed the Large and a large tshirt and they fit fabulously!!! I was shocked. I thought I was looking at a different girl in the mirror! I'm not going to lie....I almost cried. I bought 3 pair and 3 tshirts! That shut that mean inner fat girl up!!

Almost 3 months post op

You look great. Keep up the good work. I have had my husband hide the scale on me as I have entered week #3 of my first plateau and I was obsessed with the scale. He told me it was gone for a week so I didn't get frustrated and turn to food. Keep focused on your NSV and you will do great.

Resistance is futile...

This is not really a food NSV, but it's kinda connected. I had to quit smoking (of course!) as part of the pre-op. It's been a little over 5 weeks & other than one slip 4 days in, I've done really well. One of my biggest smoking triggers is being in the car, and I commute almost an hour & a half one way to school. For the past few weeks, my solution for taking my mind off smoking in the car is either to talk out loud to myself (like an idiot) or sing old 80's rock anthems out loud & play air guitar (like a bigger idiot). Yesterday & today, I realized that I was pretty much fine with the drive & didn't even really think about smoking...so I could go back to driving like a normal person.
17. I am coming up on my 3 month post op date. I am down 30 lbs & feel great. The band had been one if the best decisions I ever made. I have beat myself up a few times during the journey due to losing 18 lbs pre-op & only 12 lbs post op. I hit bandster hell around 6 wks post op & just recently got my 2nd fill & am finally satisfied between meals. I have lost a lot of inches though. I have a scale obsession which completely owns me. (Yes, I know...stay away from the scales!) Well I tried, my husband even took the scales to my neighbors.....I sent my son to get them 3 days later. Holy smoke, I need to get a grip. Lol!!! I'm not beating myself up as much though. I have dropped 2 pant sizes so I keep reminding myself that the pounds aren't everything. One of my NSV was to be a size 12 which is only ONE size away!!!! Hallelujah!!!! Some ppl would die if they were a size 12 but that is my goal. I do want to lose 30 more lbs though. I keep telling myself that I am half way there, I've got this. I made it this far in Bandster hell surely the next 30 will be easier:) I'm posting a before & after pic. The before wad taken in Dec. (I began my liquid diet Jan 1st) the after pic was taken this past weekend.

Resistance is futile...

I had the same NSV last weekend! DH and I went to see GI Joe, and I was jonesin' for some popcorn like I couldn't believe. He helped me stand strong, which was unusual, as he's usually the one convincing ME to waste $8 on a bucket of popcorn.

How about some NSVs!?!?

Today's NSV!!! Sooo Thankful!!
20. Heyher

Non-scale victory today!

Heck yeah for NSV!!!!! That had to be the best feeling!!!! Congrats!
21. I just had a rant and I want to counter it with some positivity. I know a lot of ppl were sleeved fairly recently and I've seen a lot of new "stalls" threads pop up. I'm avoiding my scale so I'd like to focus on some NSV's to help boost morale. Previously tight clothes are now comfy. Some pants that didn't fit now fit snugly. Bittersweet: bras fitting better around, but alas, looser in the cup. Saw my dad on Easter and then a week later and he was impressed with the "obvious" weight loss in a week. Hubby says clothes fitting me different and he loves "the girls" even tho they're shrinking.
22. Your body is wired to freak out at such a low caloric intake and hold onto everything it can for self preservation. It's biology... Or chemistry. Or both. Ride the wave. Switch things up. Track your intake. Made sure you're fueling yourself well. Btw, huge difference in your fave already 4 weeks out. Celebrate you NSV's.
