Winningbylosing replied to LizTex2587's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
woohoo!! Finally a game i can play... On this round of NSV 1) I can see the scale when i look down, no one needs to read it for me. Too bad its only to see that its not going down. 2 i can fit some of my old clothes and they look good with out spanks 3- I know longer look 6 months pregnant. 4 Someone not in my home (and not being paid by me) noticed my weight (in my case inches) loss. On the cons side, i am losing my boobs, i am wearing a smaller bra size, watch out victorias secret, here i come. Do they make bras where one boob is consideravbly bigger than the other, LOL -
That's awesome! I had a NSV just last week. We got a LOT of rain it the Chicago area all last week. At work, I park in a garage and have to walk across the street to get inside the building. One morning was downpouring really badly and I didn't have an umbrella, just a sweatshirt with a hood. I opened the door out of the parking garage and sprinted across the street to avoid getting soaked. Now, I haven't RUN to ANYTHING in years. I didn't even think about it, tho. I just ran to avoid the rain. And as soon as I got in the building and realized I had done it, I also realized I wasn't panting out of breath. It wasn't a long run or anything, but a year ago just WALKING QUICKLY when I was a little late to work could wind me. But I had just ran as fast as I could and wasn't affected at all. Not a huge NSV maybe, but it was something that caught me off guard. I'm by NO means 'in shape'. But I think it might be my body's way of letting me know it likes that I'm getting lighter.

Woohoo! Congrats girl. That's awesome. I'm so ready to not fit my clothes anymore. My NSV this week was having sex with my husband. He hadn't touched me in months and he hasn't initiated sex in almost 2 years. So him being turned on by me made me literally cry. I know it sounds pathetic but I was happy to be wanted again. :-)

What are your NSV. Love to hear positive stories here.

I was almost was late for work because my 3x pants no longer fit. They were a special order uniform pants ordered a while ago for work that just arrived. Even the XL pants I bought and wore this week was loose. From a 3x to a loose XL. One lady at work ask me how much weight I lost in passing me in the hallway, I said a little. She said no way you lost a lot. Last my son came home for college and said how my Husband think I'm going to be a Hottie! Though I'm at a Stall! So what. I'm Happy about My my Decision to have this Surgery. Yay

Went to pick up my race packet the other day and asked for an XL tshirt, and the guy looked at me like I was crazy. He said no way I wore that size. So he gave me a large. Got home, pulled it out and thought no way in hell that it would fit, but it did. Later read others on Facebook complaining that the shirts for the race were running small. Yay me! I ran into a girl that I used to work with yesterday at my new job. I walked over and said hello, and I could see that she couldn't figure out why I was talking to her. I asked her, you don't recognize me? She said nope...I walked off. As she was leaving, it hit her ad she came back to tell me I looked great.

NSV time! Some of these may be repeats; if so forgive me. 1. Gained more confidence 2. Husband noticed I can now slide around the restaurant booth 3. Can wear a bathing suit off the rack 4. Can get off the floor easily 5. Less joint pain 6. NO AIRPLANE SEAT BELT EXTENSION 7. Less sluggish 8. Fit into old clothes -
I typically do not toot the horn but today I received 2 very nice compliments. 1. A lady that I work with that I dont interact with on a regular basis stopped me in the hall to say that she had to do a double take because of how much weight Ive lost. She almost didnt recognize me. That was pretty cool. 2. The other was the woman that works at a gas station I frequent said "OMG youve lost a TON of weight". I told her it was 62 pounds and still going strong. She high fived me and told me "you go girl". She said it was a dramatic difference in my face. I took everything she said as a compliment but had she said it at the wrong time of the month if you get my drift, I might have gotten offended lol. Ive had other minor VSGs but 2 on a payday Friday? Woot woot!! Ill post pictures soon but part of me is still afraid of the camera Have a great weekend everyone.

scorpion-NSV-duh-I should have figured that one out, lol. I was doing Zumba 2-3 times a week & then I twisted my knee, which was already bad so beginning of March, I joined a gym & I go 3 times a week. I usually do 30 min of cardio (bike, treadmill) & 30-45 min of weights. I know muscle weighs more than fat & I meant to take my measurements before the surgery but didn't so I haven't been able to monitor inches lost. Even before I joined the gym, my weight loss has been sort of slow. I eat between 700-1000 calories a day but usually average around 850-900. Once a month I allow myself something I normally wouldn't have like fried clam strips or fried shrimp. Otherwise, I stay away from any kind of bread, pasta, rice & sweets. I weigh once a month & I have lost every time but it seems slow compared to others in my weight range. Don't get me wrong, I am ecstatic that it is coming off but I am so ready to be at goal weight & it seems like it is taking forever. Thanks for listening.

My WLS Center (Swedish in Seattle) has reached out to me yesterday to participate in promotional material (web site and flyers) in addition to upcoming TV spot. What a wonderful validation of WLS as a solution for morbid obesity!! It will be so much fun and there is also swag and incentives that come with doing it.

A pleasant surprise

Nice NSV and maybe take your daughter to some seminars, she is seeing what you're going through. Ask her if she would be able to deal with it all. And yes if you can help her get to a healthy weight at this young age then it's a great idea. Or maybe ask her to work with you, follow what you are eating and exercise together then if she has really given it her best shot and didn't succeed help her look into banding. My daughter is 15 and my sons 15 and 18 they are all within a healthy weight range. From the day they were born I made it my goal for them to never have weight issues ( highly likely as I did have issues). I kept them active from a really young age and encouraged them to find a sport they loved and would stick too. My daughter choose gymnastics ( been doing it since she was six) she has a beautiful slender strong body, my sons choose rugby and archery ( both fit and muscular), I also cooked every meal, rarely bought them take out and always encouraged them to eat fresh fruit, it's paid off thank god even though I didn't follow my own rules. Lately my daughter has started nagging me about buying her some skinny tea program to loose weight. I keep telling her no and to not start with fad diets ( she doesn't need to loose anything but her friends are all doing it), I keep reinforcing that she needs to eat good Protein, vegetables and hardly any processed foods as she needs good clean foods for the 12 hours of hard training she does every week and if she starts these stupid fad diets her sport will suffer and she can start to mess up her metabolism ( what happened to me over the years). Teach your daughter what she should and shouldn't be eating , I know she is old enough to know but we tend to loose the idea of what's good and what's not, work together as each others support. Best wishes to you both. -

Congratulations on your NSV. If you feel that your daughter can succeed and understands the ins/outs etc of lapband, then if she is approved by insurance, it might be right for her! I agree with ali is changing and tmf. Best wishes.Karen -
shewolf. NSV- non scale victory about speed up the weight loss. what exercise are you doing? how much. I hit the stall and even though I was exercising min 45 min per day the weight doesn't go down, I was told to change the time of my routing. so I switch the evening exercise with mid day one and it help. So another thing try sometimes to increase the calories. just for one day. to 1200. I mean do something like that to help your body to shake your stall.

This is the best thing that has happened to me in a long time. I am down 68 lbs...not sure why it is so slow as I have not "cheated" at all & I exercise but, hey, it is still better than nothing. I am 7 lbs away from onederland! I wouldn't trade this for anything in the world. What blows me away is I have absolutely NO cravings & I am NEVER hungry. I have to force myself to eat-nothing tastes awesome to me so I eat what I need to get my protein in. Ummm....not to sound stupid but what is NSV? Anyone have any ideas how to speed up the weight loss? Good luck & congrats to all of you!

Great to hear your doing good and the numbers arn't the important part, how we feel is the real reward here! NSV's are the best!!!

3 NSVs in a 24 hour period
melissapaige84 replied to nursepez's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Congrats on your NSVs! I need to keep off the scales and focus on the NSVs. When the scale jumps up and down or doesn't move, it can be rather depressing. I'll have to think about NSVs more. -

3 NSVs in a 24 hour period
ISleevedIt replied to nursepez's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Nice NSVs! I went shopping today at lunch time and I found that I was able to fit into some size medium tops. It was a little snug (but passable). So I bought 2 medium tops so that they will fit me for a much longer period. I can't afford to keep buying clothes right now. I am going to have to find a thrift shop store near me. I know where donation centers are at, but not stores...lol -
I'm 8 weeks post-op tomorrow. I've lost 50 pounds from my highest weight last November (right after Thanksgving!). And in the last 24 hours I've had 3 NSVs. 1. I have an important job interview tomorrow so went looking for a new outfit. I was able to purchase off the rack in the regular ladies department...not plus sizes. That was huge...haven't done that in years. 2. I'm wearing a belt that didn't fit around my waist in January...and I'm already adjusting it to the 4th hole. So even though I can't always see a difference in my appearance...it's happening! 3. And my last NSV...I'm getting my neck back!!! You ladies know what I mean. I put on a necklace today that I have avoided wearing because it just felt too tight. Today it is laying perfectly around my much slender neck and falls to the perfect position on my chest. Loving life after my sleeve. Just wanted to share.

Great NSV!!!enjoy shopping!

How is the year going for everyone?
lassie replied to Daron1965's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Having a good year, weight loss has slowed down-I think I need a jump start. Over all I am happy with the way things are going. My one year anniversary is coming up May 24th, I thought I would be at goal by then but that is not realistic as I have only been losing about two pounds a month ( but still losing ) Do not like the loose skin but would rather have that than the weight. I am over 65 so it is hard to tone it up. Love all the NSV's so please keep them coming it gives me inspiration. Hugs to everyone. -
Idk if this is a NSV or a reason for shame/embarrassment but I've since discovered spots on my legs that have not seen a razor in some time...
