I'm 6 weeks out & can't live w/out caffeine. My NUT & my surgeon gave me the ok on it. I hate milk plain but to add some protein to my coffee I do q latte more or less.....1/2 coffee & half milk over ice. At Starbucks I add sf vanilla...sooo good. Today I added a 1/2 scoop of vanilla whey protein. It def made it taste grosser, but I need the protein & it was better than a shake I've had no probe with gas & I personally think it helps get a bm get going so that's a bonus for me (sorry if tmi) !!

Help! I can't poo
SmokyMtnGal2011 replied to Marilynn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
First - STOP LOOKING A THE SCALES - your body is adjusting to a major lifestyle change, if you have to weigh only do so once a week NOT EVERY DAY or you will end up crazy and regretful, which you don't need either of right now. BE PATIENCE, easier said than done, I know, your body will drop those pounds shortly just stay the course and follow Doctors instructions!!!!!!!... Second, water, water, fluids, water and MOM(milk of magnesia) per directions. You can always do an enema if you are feeling that uncomfortable. Please keep us posted on your progress, no such thing as TMI on this site. WE are all Sleeve Sisters or Brothers. Good Luck. -
I had my surgery on July 11 and initially did really well losing about 18 lbs by the 22nd. My bowel movements have been spotty since the surgery but I attributed that to the fact I was eating so little. Today I am on a mixture of soft and regular foods and since the 22nd my weight has not moved down at all, it actually is going up every day. I have been taking correctall trying to help but it is not working. Does anyone have any advice or words of wisdom because I feel like a failure and am now starting to feel uncomfortable (like I am actually constipated). Sorry for the TMI but I am getting really upset with this situation.

Bad surgery day stories
Blaze21 replied to dedumplinz's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a good surgery experience. I did however get my TOM very badly 2 days after surgery. I know tmi, lol. -
First foray into unplanned eating since my surgery in February 2017. Took a last minute trip, 150 miles, to a funeral for a friend. Did not plan any meals or snacks. After the funeral we gathered at my friend's house for dinner. It was Popeye's Chicken with all the sides and some homemade red beans and rice. I had some red beans and one chicken wing. This is also my first time eating something fried. Within about 20 minutes I felt sick to my stomach and the nausea was overwhelming. I went to throw up in the bathroom but just had a watery mouth and spit a lot. I got a horrible headache and felt like I needed to lie down and sleep. I excused myself by saying I needed to start my long drive home and stopped in the Costco parking lot, took a tylenol, and took a 45 minute nap. When I woke up I felt fine, shopped and drove home. What the heck was that? Does anyone else feel that sucky when they eat fried food? Never again!!!!! This has happened once before when I had a yellow chicken curry dish. I know it's not "chicken" because I eat it all the time.

Hello I've been a member of this site for a while now, since I started looking into having VGS. I have been lurking around reading and earning so much. You have all helped with my decision, when I finally decided to go ahead with the surgery with all the valuable information you share with amongst each other and offer support when someone is in need. After deliberating for over 2 years I decided I wanted to get the surgery. I had my surgery on 11th June and so far I have had a perfect recovery. I prepared myself for the worst and was pleasantly surprised. All was going well until day 6 and have been struck with the worst case of constipation I have ever known. My problem is I'm too afraid to go as I think if I strain too much ( I know sorry TMI) and cause a leak in my new stomach.I have been taking Lactulose twice a day as prescribed by my doc. Can anyone tell me, do you use your stomach muscles for a BM? Can constipation cause a leak?

What Is/was Your Favorite Blender Food Combo?
Ms skinniness replied to Dooter's topic in Purée (stage 2)
Mushies too me were like soups, mashed potatoes, cottage cheese, yogurt, sf pudding. I actually skipped the pureed stage bc the thought made me want to throw up. Sorry TMI. -
Hello Nursesmiley, I waited 6 weeks because I was kind of nervous and wanted to heal first. Idk if they is a time period to wait but I took a little longer to have energy and strength. This may be TMI but I will be honest to you, the sex is so much different. When I was heavier I didn't feel as much pleasure as I do now!!! It's amazing when you lose weight how your body changes. My husband states that I got tighter then before which makes it more pleasurable for both. Sorry for TMI but before I had problems reaching a orgasm and now it's so much easier and the feeling I feel is so strong. Again sorry for TMI but I am being honest. I feel that a women body changes. I have more desire now to have sex than before. It's kind of hard to put into words but it sure feels different. I didn't have any incision pain at all. I did feel a little uncomfortable at first with certain positions but as time goes by, you feel better. Also my self confidence is much better than before. The Surgury I had was gastric bypass. Sorry for expressing myself but I think it's important that we support one another. Best of luck 😀.

TMI for the faint of heart....... One month ( but I am old) maybe sooner for you if you are younger. Doggie style worked for me, with pillows supporting my belly. That way there was no weight on me, and the pillows held my belly still so it wouldn't flop around. OH......I love this forum. Happy nookie to you.

TMI for some...but how do you smell?
Texasmom65 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sorry if this is too much for some, but I have to ask....has your "female" parts changed the way they smell? Since surgery its different for me. I don't know if its because of all the Protein and no veggies or fruits in my diet at the moment or what. If this has happened to you, does it change or get better? -
I did an enema a few days ago and a little came out but that's it TMI!

Absolutely no restriction - and eating everything...
dietpeach posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm freaking out a little. I was banded about a month ago, and I have zero restriction at all. I can eat whatever I want, as much as I want: pizza, rice, Pasta, chicken, bread, diet soda, etc. I don't even have to chew all that well. Only one time did I get a twinge of pain, and I had eaten more than I should have (holiday dinner). TMI alert: I burped and felt better right away. My band is in the right position - I had it checked by esophogram. Is this normal? I get a fill in 2 weeks. Will that help? Is my ability to eat anything and everything a sign that I could fail on the band? -
I was reading the "Throwing up all the time" thread and I totally relate. Rather than hijack her thread, I've started my own. For anyone who has not read my somewhat whiny posts all over the boards, here is the situation. I am 17 weeks post-op. I've lost approximately 9 lbs. I have had 4 fills, I currently have 2.2ccs. I Pb after the first bite of any food more solid than oatmeal. Everytime. So I'm too tight, right? No, my doc has checked me throughly (Tuesday) and says I'm not. And after the Pb, I can eat almost anything. The Pb is usually just alot of mucus (TMI, I know) coming up, not my food. And when I can eat I can eat alot. And I am always always always hungry. Thinking it might be WHAT I'm eating, I've cut out the bread, and I'm doing meat and veggies. But I still Pb after the first bite 90% of the time. It does not hurt anymore after I get the mucus up and then the hunger results in my overeating. I've got to admit, I'm starting to get conditioned against eating at all. I have found myself eating soft foods to avoid pain. And since I've always had the pain and mucus I didn't realize it wasn't normal til about a week ago. But really, it's JUST the first bite. I can almost feel the stretch as the food goes through and then...ah, relief. My doc said I wasn't chewing good enough, but even that doesn't seem to help much. Am I total failure at this? What can I do different? Doc says unfill not needed, so any other suggestions are welcome...

Surgery Thursday--Questions
nkcaump replied to mandi78's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mandi - Good luck! Sounds like you and I both have similar weight goals and my surgery is Friday - the day after yours! I also lost about 12 pounds pre-op. It can't hurt right? I think just being healthier over the past month makes me feel better. I haven't had a soda pop since late-August and that's been the biggest deal with me. Anyway, I can't help you on the panties question. I haven't worn panties since my sophomore year in college. Oh... TMI... Sorry... Good luck tomorrow!!! I'm thinking of you!!!!! -

Dumping Syndrome? BM's...And yeah it's all TMI
Brandalyn posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well, I got it and it's the pits! Anyone else? If I eat anything that has more than 5g of sugar per serving, I'm full on liquid diarrhea in minutes. I also haven't had a single regular BM since surgery. Am I alone in this? -
Your body will do what it needs to do when it needs to do. So unless you are having bloody stools or having a lot of pain with it, I would have to assume it's ok to poop. Keep us posted. P.S. If you have questions or concerns, nothing is TMI on here. LOL

OK Ladies, kinda embarrasing question for you all
HeatherS. replied to Adina's_Journey's topic in The Gals' Room
Same here. Oh, the itchies growing back out! (TMI? ) There was nothing in my pre-op requirements about shaving, because, as others have pointed out, the surgery isnt anywhere near the hair for most women. I wonder if those places also require men to shave all. The only thing I had to take special care with was to have a scrupulously clean navel because of its proximity to the main laparoscopic incision. -
Alcohol during maintenance??
Prestonandme replied to xoto2000's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn't try alcohol until nearly a year post-surgery. Everything changed. Before surgery, I could drink wine or mixed drinks and develop a lovely mild buzz that would last for about an hour or two. After surgery, I had to give up wine and mixed drinks because of the new effects they had on me. I'd feel nothing for about 30-45 minutes after drinking, then suddenly feel extremely inebriated -- overwhelmed -- and the whooziness would last for several hours, plus sometimes I'd then get a bad headache. And diarrhea (TMI). These days I only drink one can of beer (Guinness Stout) at home. I wouldn't dare drink away from home because of the possibility of severe inebriation. A blood/alcohol card listing weight and BAC showed that hypothetically, a person of my weight would reach a BAC of .10 after drinking just one and one half glasses of wine! If and when you're ready to introduce alcohol back into your life, definitely drink at home first so you can find out how the alcohol now affects you. About a year ago, a woman posted that she drank alcohol at a party and felt completely fine driving home but during the drive she suddenly became overwhelmed by drunkenness and had to pull over and lie down in her seat. She got a DUI. -
Alcohol during maintenance??
Prestonandme replied to xoto2000's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Also, and this may apply only to a very small percentage of patients, some of us have livers that become highly sensitive to alcohol intake post-surgery. During one weekend, I drank a lot of wine and got very concerned when I went to the bathroom and noticed that my poop was jet black and diarrhea in form (sorry if TMI). I was afraid that this indicated internal bleeding so immediately went to urgent care. They performed blood tests and found that my liver enzymes were very elevated, showing inflammation/injury to the liver. They told me to not drink alcohol at all for awhile and to return in a month. They re-tested and found to my relief that my enzyme results had returned to normal. So I severely restrict my alcohol intake -- only a lite beer maybe twice a week. Nothing else. -
awesome, I use a small saucer plate, and a lot of the times I have left over and I take 20-30 mins to eat and small bites (: the 5 bean salad...never liked it lol. I'm positive that exercising will help with the weight pause, andd yes haha I know it really does, it needs to kick into gear better tho. I'd feel like I'd have to go, but when I get to the bathroom I don't anymore, then I go to sit down for a few mins then I gotta again but then I can't grr I took a stool softened too haha bad stool softener! TMI sorry lol
