Went to the car wash before Christmas and I usually wipe off my windows and mirrors when I get out....but this time I had no napkins in my car!!! Not even one!!! I realized it's cuz I have not gone through a DRIVE-THRU since before the surgery!!! (NSV) I've decided to keep a roll of paper towel in the trunk! :-) No more drive-thrus for me!!! Nancy*

I am considering surgery, what's your pros and cons?

When you really wonder if this is the right call, read through this section...http://www.bariatricpal.com/topic/195065-you-know-you-lost-weight-when/ If you don't spontaneously tear up at times, you are NOT a candidate. I still do. It's amazing to me how over a year out I hear about someone's struggles that they have overcome after losing weight how it brings back memories of my past struggles. I don't think those weight PTSD memories are ever going to go away. But these NSV's always bring me hope and happiness. -
I fit my goal pants already...

Personal r-rated Question For The Guys Out There

At one point in our lives my hubby lost 90 lbs and I lost 50. Let's just say there was "new territory explored"....he gained back the weight and so did I... Now I've lost 90 lbs and he has decided its time for him to get back on weight watchers... Weight loss makes a big difference in how close you can get and the that pesky pad of fat in the genital area Better sex is one of the biggest NSV's...a personal favorite of mine!!!!lol -
Kristi, stop thinking of this in terms of dollars to pounds. That is a loosing proposition. Start tracking your NSVs. You spent that money to get your health back (nag nag nag).

As a proud member of the 'Slow Losers', I promised to start a thread of my NSV's. I'm wearing clothes I haven't worn in years. Before my surgery I ordered a pair of custom fit khakis from Land's End (if you haven't tried their custom fit service - it's awesome - but I digress) By the time the pants showed up 6 weeks later, I had gained enough weight that they didn't fit. I, of course, blamed it on bad measurements and threw the pants into the closet, meaning to return them. I was digging in my closet yesterday and came across these same khakis. I tried them on - they fell off! and I mean FELL OFF. I'm going to take them to the tailor today and see if she can fix them. I have bones!! When I lay down flat, I have hip bones! I also have wrist bones and knuckles on my fingers. I'm beginning to see a little clavicle action. and some cheek bones. I had to retire my XL belt from Target. I got an identical one, size large, and I'm down to the 2nd to the last notch. I can cross my legs! (this is probably my favorite) I was at the gym doing some weight work. I picked up the 35 pound dumbell to start - and it hit me - this is how much I've lost. Holy Cow - This thing is HEAVY! I know I have more - and I'll have to think about them and add to this list like Vines does to hers.

ok, so we had the towel wrap around NSV, and the shoelaces tied on TOP of the shoe instead of on the side of the shoe NSV, and now............................................... (((((((((((((((((((((((((((((DRUMROLL PLEEZ))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))) today, while sitting at my job(saltmines), pleasantly minding my own business in my cubicle, it occurs to me that my thighs are no longer wedged under my keyboard. i have, in the past, had my chair adjusted to the lowest setting...i might as well have been sitting on the floor...and the keyboard slide out little tray thingy set to the highest setting...which meant that when the thighs and the keyboard were aligned just right, it would often bump against the bottom of my desk top, sometimes completely ruining my document and sometimes my settings on my computer....errrhhhhgggg!! i had not even noticed that it was not happening anymore, until today!!! who would have thought that this would mean something to me??!! I never even considered it before!! anyone else have this NSV??!!

Slouching
FromFlabToFab replied to SeriouslyChange's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I slouch much more comfortably than usual cuz of the single belly roll I have now as opposed to the double I did have. That was actually one of my first NSVs that I had noticed -
great job / NSV are the best ever

Overwhelming wins and losses
mcfluffington replied to Darktowerdream's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Congratulations on your NSV. Your lucky you had that whole closet of clothes to fall back on. I know thinking about your weight can play on your mind without having any neurological or psychiatric issues to exacerbate it. Recently I have been going a little nuts. about dieting. I am trying to lose from a weight regain. So far I have lost 25 lbs but that took two and 1/2 years. I took a day not to think to hard about stuff and now I am back on track. Maybe you could take a mental vacation from it like me. Good luck! -
Tonight I did what I thought was impossible! First, to put in in perspective: the Couch to 5k program starts you off with alternating 90 sec. walking with 60 sec jogging in week 1. I could barely make it one minute when I started!! Today I just finished week 5 day 3, which means I ran 20 SOLID minutes on the treadmill!!!!! I can't believe I did it, and it wasn't bad at all!! Just days ago I was struggling to finish 5 min blocks, then 8 min blocks. I was doing more than the people around me in the gym. I haven't ever felt that before! I nearly cried when I was done! But no, to Celebrate, since I had run 3.5K, I said screw it, and ran and walked even more and did the whole 5K tonight JUST FOR FUN. (Seriously, what's WRONG with me? LOL!!) I can't believe I've transformed so much in such a short time. The band has lightened me enough to find strength I've never known before. PS I called my brother, who has almost always been fit his whole life, even fit enough to run the NYC marathon several years ago, and he said that even he probably wouldn't be able to do 20 min right now. HA! Am I getting to be the fastest runner in my family? I can hardly believe it! I was always the slowest one. So I challenged him to do a 5K with me this summer. HA!!!! It's on!!

For 20 years I have dreamed of being fit and healthy enough to participate in the Great Victorian Bike Ride, an eight day ride of almost 600km in my home state of Victoria. This year, 18 months after getting my lapband and losing 63kg, my husband and I set off from Lakes Entrance on our first ever Great Vic. First two days of riding were fantastic. The whole event was living up to my expectations with the riding, the camaraderie, camping and spending time with my husband. Day three dawned bright and sunny and we were on the road nice and early out of Briagalong. Morning tea stop in our former town of Maffra and then two and a half km down the road, disaster struck! I crashed out big time over the handlebars and onto the road. I was in agony, convinced that I had broken my leg! An hour later I was in an ambulance, six hours later I was finally released from the ER with a puncture wound and severe haematoma to my upper right thigh, along with a collection of bruises, scrapes etc that have developed quite colorfully over the days since. Yesterday, still on the camp for the ride, I decided to give it another go but wasn't even able to pedal. The physiotherapist then confirmed that i would not be able to complete the ride. I was devastated that I have not completed my dream or my NSV but am going to support my husband right through to the end on Sunday. And next year, I WILL complete my NSV and finish the Great Vic!
