  1. My very best NSV occurred late last week: to be asked to participate in a professional photoshoot and tell my story for my WLS Center website and other promotional material. It is exciting to be able to do this and to have an impact on many future WLS candidates!
  2. Best NSV to date: Walking into my son's house about a year after surgery and hearing him say "Holy F, Mom, where's the rest of you?!"
  3. Best nsv to date... Completing 4 half marathons in a year!

    F*cking up!

Fear not! Stalls are a normal part of any weight loss journey. The two previous posts have great advice but I would add, try to spend some time with your feelings. Why are you feeling down? Is it just the weight loss stalling or is something else going on that's "feeding" into it. Depression is a common issue for many of us who have and are struggling with weight and when I'm feeling down I always have used food as a source of comfort. The only difference now is that I can't do the same level of damage I did before I was sleeved. Lastly, look for some NSV's like your cloths being too big, measurements getting smaller, easier movement, etc. to gauge your progress. You are in the midst of a huge life change and it's really only the beginning. Love yourself for your courage and determination! Sent from my iPhone using VST
  5. Please share your BEST NSV (non-scale victory to date)! You must pick only the very best one, even though I know there are lots. And positive answers only please--not that there is such a thing as a negative NSV, but I really need some positivity today and thought this would be fun!

    first post op flying experience

Fiddleman i totally get what you mean some time ago i flew, couldn't buckle my seatbelt - so i tried to fake it - acted like the belt was closed couldn't fool the attendent - she discreetly put her hand on the seat by me, she was giving me an extender!!! that never happened to me before - somehow i was always able to buckle briefly (then unbuckle as soon as i could) i was very upset over the situation i wanted to cry (i did inside ) i know how great you are now feeling excited to ride on the plane soon for family vaca!!!! how wonderful is that I also can related to OP that are heavy, i feel bad cuz i remember being in there situation i sometimes wish i could shake some "heavier" people up and say, hey - listen to me - you can improve your life by having WLS - you don't have to continue life like "this" you can get healthy et al - but of course i never say anything gotta throw in my NSV - hope thats ok i went to GA about 6 weeks ago - i was assigned that middle seat between "2 strangers" you should have seen me "hop" into that seat, my tush felt so good with all that space on each side of me i didn't exactly do the happy dance - but you should have seen me grinning all the way to GA and back Fiddleman - sounds like all continues to be well BTW - I would love to go to Hawaii with you and DW et al if you have a small suitcase - i can now fit in it I'll even fly coach take care guy
  7. NSV today. I had to take a link out of my watch. Too loose to wear. My wedding band is loose too, I'm sure it will need resizing eventually.
  8. I had a great NSV yesterday! Had my 6 month dental cleaning. I used to have a hard time leaning forward to discard the mouthwash to the bowl with my belly... this time it was no problem reaching it. It was nice not getting it down the front of me for change. :)

  9. I had my surgery on Feb 27, my hw was 265 sw 259 (no pre op diet) cw 232. and at my last count a week ago I had lost 20.5 inches My weight loss seems like its slower than others. Although I am very happy to have lost 33 pounds and 20.5 inches. I lost 20 some of that my first month, this month April, I have lost maybe the other 13, and I am hoping for to get in to the 220's before May 1. My goal is to be under 200 by August, which is my birthday, which gives me 3 months. Actually my dream would be to loose 45 lbs in the next 3 months, so about 15 pounds a month, not sure if thats realistic. I have a sleeve of steel unfortunatley, I can eat almost anything. At first nothing tasted good. It took me awhile to find a food I felt satisfied with. Which is the bacon pineapple meatballs and sausages from Costco, also I know its crazy but I really like the chocolate Premier shakes from Costco as well. I get all my vitamins in and have only had one problem since surgery to speak of which was a ruptured ovarian cyst, that sent me to the emergency room at 5 am with what I thought for sure was a gall bladder attack from WLS. My NSV was going to the store to buy clothes and even bigger NSV they were not all BLACK! lots of colors, and off the rack, still buying XXL, and size 18 jeans at Old Navy, but it is comfortable, or just a bit too big. I was at the point before surgery where this would have been too small for me. So I just wouldnt buy new clothes. Sorry I am rambling, I havent told anyone about my surgery except for my husband/mom/sister/daughter ( I swore her to secrecy so she better not tell anyone..she is 14 lol) So no one to really talk about with all of this. Thanks for listening...

    High heels?

This is an NSV I am really hoping to see become reality in my life. I love heels but right now I wear them across the living room and my feet can't take it.... Oh I really hope this one comes true for me because it would open up a world of shoe possibilities!
  11. Isn't it just the greatest feeling? I have become such a shopaholic for clothes now that it is so fun to have cute clothes fit. To me it is one of the best NSV there is.
  12. Yesterday I decided to go shopping. I have bought a few things that fit me but you can count them on one hand. I brought home a bag full, things were on sale and a good price. I hate to try on in store so I bring it home. Usually most of it goes back. I bought all XL. I wore a 24 5 months ago and can not remember when I ever and I mean ever wore an XL. I tried them all on and they all fit wonderfully. I couldn't believe how little I looked. Then I did the unthinkable. I took everything that was in my cupboard and folded it up for the thrift store. Today I took it there. All my big clothes are gone. I have hardly anything in my closet clothes wise but I have enough until I lose another 45 lbs and the XL are all baggy. What an NSV this was for me.
  13. So i finally ended my first stall. It lasted about 3 weeks, which i hear is pretty normal, but boy were those 3 weeks frustrating! I was convinced i wasn't going to lose anymore weight, even though common sense told me otherwise. But this morning i decided to try on my pre-pregnancy pants (my son is 6), and they FIT! just a tad snug in the waist but omg! I'm soo happy! This was my first mini goal, and i can't believe I've reached it! I couldn't be happier today!!
  14. Working out in the new bathing suit - LOVE IT!! Congrats on the NSV. It couldn't have happened at a better time than right after an intense cake craving! Good for you!
  15. So I was watching all of the wedding shows on TLC today (don't ask me why, I have been married for almost 20 years and am not planning a wedding for anyone else, but I still like them). While watching, I suddenly got this crazy craving for white wedding cake with raspberry filling. I never even liked sweets before VSG, so I do not know why I was thinking about it. I could have gone to the store and bought a piece and just had a couple of bites, but even then, who would I be "cheating"--myself, that's who. So instead, I decided to try a "goal" (very early progress goal, not final goal) bathing suit that I bought. It's a Miracle Suit (halter, really cute) and 6 (women's plus) sizes smaller than the suits I usually wear to work out. I never thought it would fit in a million years, especially because Miracle Suits usually run a size (2 women's sizes) smaller, but it did! I don't look great of course, but I look like a healthier version of ME. Plus the suit has underwire, which is so much nicer than the soft cups--which I know other ladies who wear a bigger cup size can relate to. I couldn't find the underwire in bigger-sized suits (which makes no sense, but I digress). So now I am so happy, I am not only not going to tempt myself with anything that isn't on plan, I am going to go work out in my new bathing suit! I already have it on, after all. Also, I saw a friend that I haven't seen since before VSG, and she asked if I had lost some weight. I said "a little" (probably 35 pounds pre- and post-op since I've seen her), and she said, "No, a LOT!" It was my first compliment! I think people may start noticing more bc I am starting to wear "mini goal" clothes that I had bought a while ago (also like having a new wardrobe without spending $$). Our weight loss is definitely more obvious in more fitted clothes.

    Attention February 2013 Sleeve Buddies!

woohoo!! Finally a game i can play... On this round of NSV 1) I can see the scale when i look down, no one needs to read it for me. Too bad its only to see that its not going down. 2 i can fit some of my old clothes and they look good with out spanks 3- I know longer look 6 months pregnant. 4 Someone not in my home (and not being paid by me) noticed my weight (in my case inches) loss. On the cons side, i am losing my boobs, i am wearing a smaller bra size, watch out victorias secret, here i come. Do they make bras where one boob is consideravbly bigger than the other, LOL

    NSV

That's awesome! I had a NSV just last week. We got a LOT of rain it the Chicago area all last week. At work, I park in a garage and have to walk across the street to get inside the building. One morning was downpouring really badly and I didn't have an umbrella, just a sweatshirt with a hood. I opened the door out of the parking garage and sprinted across the street to avoid getting soaked. Now, I haven't RUN to ANYTHING in years. I didn't even think about it, tho. I just ran to avoid the rain. And as soon as I got in the building and realized I had done it, I also realized I wasn't panting out of breath. It wasn't a long run or anything, but a year ago just WALKING QUICKLY when I was a little late to work could wind me. But I had just ran as fast as I could and wasn't affected at all. Not a huge NSV maybe, but it was something that caught me off guard. I'm by NO means 'in shape'. But I think it might be my body's way of letting me know it likes that I'm getting lighter.

    NSV

Woohoo! Congrats girl. That's awesome. I'm so ready to not fit my clothes anymore. My NSV this week was having sex with my husband. He hadn't touched me in months and he hasn't initiated sex in almost 2 years. So him being turned on by me made me literally cry. I know it sounds pathetic but I was happy to be wanted again. :-)

    NSV

I was almost was late for work because my 3x pants no longer fit. They were a special order uniform pants ordered a while ago for work that just arrived. Even the XL pants I bought and wore this week was loose. From a 3x to a loose XL. One lady at work ask me how much weight I lost in passing me in the hallway, I said a little. She said no way you lost a lot. Last my son came home for college and said how my Husband think I'm going to be a Hottie! Though I'm at a Stall! So what. I'm Happy about My my Decision to have this Surgery. Yay
  21. Went to pick up my race packet the other day and asked for an XL tshirt, and the guy looked at me like I was crazy. He said no way I wore that size. So he gave me a large. Got home, pulled it out and thought no way in hell that it would fit, but it did. Later read others on Facebook complaining that the shirts for the race were running small. Yay me! I ran into a girl that I used to work with yesterday at my new job. I walked over and said hello, and I could see that she couldn't figure out why I was talking to her. I asked her, you don't recognize me? She said nope...I walked off. As she was leaving, it hit her ad she came back to tell me I looked great.

    Attention February 2013 Sleeve Buddies!

NSV time! Some of these may be repeats; if so forgive me. 1. Gained more confidence 2. Husband noticed I can now slide around the restaurant booth 3. Can wear a bathing suit off the rack 4. Can get off the floor easily 5. Less joint pain 6. NO AIRPLANE SEAT BELT EXTENSION 7. Less sluggish 8. Fit into old clothes
  23. I typically do not toot the horn but today I received 2 very nice compliments. 1. A lady that I work with that I dont interact with on a regular basis stopped me in the hall to say that she had to do a double take because of how much weight Ive lost. She almost didnt recognize me. That was pretty cool. 2. The other was the woman that works at a gas station I frequent said "OMG youve lost a TON of weight". I told her it was 62 pounds and still going strong. She high fived me and told me "you go girl". She said it was a dramatic difference in my face. I took everything she said as a compliment but had she said it at the wrong time of the month if you get my drift, I might have gotten offended lol. Ive had other minor VSGs but 2 on a payday Friday? Woot woot!! Ill post pictures soon but part of me is still afraid of the camera Have a great weekend everyone.

    Any September People

scorpion-NSV-duh-I should have figured that one out, lol. I was doing Zumba 2-3 times a week & then I twisted my knee, which was already bad so beginning of March, I joined a gym & I go 3 times a week. I usually do 30 min of cardio (bike, treadmill) & 30-45 min of weights. I know muscle weighs more than fat & I meant to take my measurements before the surgery but didn't so I haven't been able to monitor inches lost. Even before I joined the gym, my weight loss has been sort of slow. I eat between 700-1000 calories a day but usually average around 850-900. Once a month I allow myself something I normally wouldn't have like fried clam strips or fried shrimp. Otherwise, I stay away from any kind of bread, pasta, rice & sweets. I weigh once a month & I have lost every time but it seems slow compared to others in my weight range. Don't get me wrong, I am ecstatic that it is coming off but I am so ready to be at goal weight & it seems like it is taking forever. Thanks for listening.
