Not sure if it's just me (I'm pretty sure it's not) but pooping at work, post bypass is a crazy embarrassing event! I've had folks walk, in and then turn right around and leave thanks to the wonderful new smells I'm producing! So embarrassing! And it lingers think and heavy, like some cross between tear gas and smog, some unseen nasal assault team going full speed ahead attempting to cause gagging. I've recently decided to bite the bullet and buy some Poop-Pourri, just a little 4oz bottle to pocket and take with me to the can. I don't want to advertise or promote, but for what it's worth, it helped out greatly. A few times it didn't work as described, but it sure helped! I don't feel super ashamed leaving the toilet now! Figured we could share some horror stories or other "Pooping at work" related tidbits / tips/ tricks etc

I did not but after the gas I wish I had. A doctor her in DC suggested the enema and the person who did it was low on gas pain. If I had to do this over again I would do the enema. TMI I think.

Taste buds change after surgery???
RestlessMonkey replied to justiceaim1's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Sure! I am really HAPPY to help! And about the taste bud thing; I know a blow to the head can cause them to really be altered or to change (happened to my husband...a cracked ethmoid bone. I know TMI LOL) and it isn't really the taste buds that change, but our sense of smell, but don't think that type of thing happens in surgery or with the band so I don't think I steered you wrong. We are pretty adaptable and can get used to healthier things. or so I've been told LOL -
I second the masterbation/sex option... I find that a good 5-6 Os....helps considerably.... Was that TMI??? Rain

My experience with dumping came after I are a little spicy soup..I was SO tired of pudding and jello ..it took about 15 minutes with stomach cramps and I ran to the bathroom. More if a water discharge(TMI) but I wanted to explain it was different than anything I had ever experienced.

Dr. Aceves, Mexicali, and Me!
Oakleygirl replied to AmandaRaeLeo's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Truly a first-class hospital with exceptional doctors and staff... can't say enough good things about Dr. Aceves and his wonderfully personable and knowledgeable rapport. And man... did you notice how many male nurses there were?! Yay me! I left with mostly pain on my left side where drain was and am now post-op day 6... feeling good, but still using 1 or 2 pain meds a day so I can be mobiile. I was really weepy leaving Mexicali... think it was just the whirlwind of how fast it all happened and sad to say goodbye... very sweet Ernesto gave me a hug at the airport as i was the only one leaving that day... like a dad! So now my next big hurdle is to POOP!!! Oh yeah... TMI! Everything else is healing up nicely... getting up to my Fluid goals (59 oz today and 74 g protein)! Battling the hunger demons b/c I AM hungry... 350 calories a day, even with a tiny stomach, is NOT enough to survive on! Can't wait to get past the liquids stage, but am following dr instructions to the letter b/c I cannot afford to have complications if I can help it! Wouldn't it be nice to have a Dr. Aceves reunion sometime with all the 2013 sleevers he's done? That place was smokin' busy... I was done on Monday Jul 6 with 3 others (the MOST he ever does in a day) and every day, two new people arrived! Just so grateful to have had a great experience with a dr who truly cares! -

You did not want to be me this weekend. I went to bed at midnight on Friday night. At 2 AM, I woke up and had a quarter-sized lump on my hoo-ha. Very painful, but tolerable. As the weekend went on, though, it grew. And grew. And grew. I could barely walk because of the pain and I was taking LOTS of Advil for the pain (didn't do much more than take the edge off of it). Of course, no one was open yesterday because of the holiday, but I was able to make an appointment to see my gynecologist this morning, luckily. She took a look at it and said that it was an ingrown hair, but that the pus-pocket thing was huge, about 2 1/2 inches. So, I got to have my crotch lanced this morning. And let me tell you, that damn lidocaine shot was the most painful thing I have EVER experienced. I am normally have a high tolerance for pain, but I was whimpering like a baby.

3 days post-op -- question about bowels
Katiebal_Lecter replied to xoxomaya's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I just had my surgery on 12/17. I was five days post op when I had my BM. My doctor said no Fiber for the first three months, but if I needed help “going” to take miralax. (TMI but my first BM was entirely made up of blood- surgeon said it was normal. Sorry if that’s tmi, but I was totally taken by surprise and would like other people to know that it happens.) -
Acid reflux AFTER Gastric bypass?
ReadingMochaMom4 replied to Christina.Rose's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I'm sorry that you are having this issue. My SIL has the sleeve, and she has had horrible issues with reflux. She never had it before even with her 3 pregnancies. Before my surgery I had untreated Gerd for 9 years, they discovered it during the waiting period and put me on pepcid. It changed my life! He even went in and had to repair a 2 or 3cm intrusion in my stomach BEFORE doing my RNY. Well everything went great for 6 months, the GERD didn't return- but the loud, explosive (TMI) belching did. So I went back on pepcid and I take it daily. I have heard that RNY has helped several people but for me, it has reduced the acid greatly but NOT eliminated it completely. Good luck Sent from my SM-G975U1 using BariatricPal mobile app -
Haha. This probably an odd question, but maybe not? What happens if you are on your period during the surgery? Do they let you use tampons or free flow (haha) everywhere? I'm probably going to be on mine when I have surgery, so I wanted to know what to expect.

I woke from my Sleeve anesthesia 5days ago with blood in my nose and thick blood running down my throat. I was nauseated and in pain...but eventually by evening that wore of some. But, swallowing (aside from the usual first swallows post Sleeve), was beyond excruciating! I then I looked back there in the mirror to see my throat it looked like something from a horror scene. And it hurts like crazy too! So aggravated, I've never seen my throat look like that. Beyond even a Strep Throat swallow. My surgeon even took a picture of it to show to the Anesthesiologist, who I know has over 30 years experience so what's the deal? Needless to say, the liquid Hydrocodone has been nightmarish to take, just burns like crazy. And whats more, I have a constant feeling like something is stuck in there when I swallow. Like a piece of throat is flailing in there (sorry, I know TMI), but I really wanted to know if anyone experienced this, and how it was resolved. It is interfering with my Fluid intake, which is already a challenge. My surgeon said it will probably resolve, but gave me some ENT numbers just in case. Was wondering if anyone experienced same and how you dealt with it. Your responses will be so appreciated at this unsettling time :/

Anyone in Oklahoma getting banded????
Rdy4ANewLife replied to conetha's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was really scared too at first. I even cried right before surgery and my Doc talked to me and calmed me down. They wheeled me in and put the mask on me as soon as they got me situated in the OR bed, so I was out of it fast. After surgery, my mouth was VERY dry and yes I was in pain(only when I tried to move and get out of bed). I did get out of bed an hour later to go to the bathroom and I asked them if I could walk(the quicker u start walking, the quicker it will work out all the soreness ur feeling). The next week, I was still in pain, but again, only when I was trying to get out of bed or if I twisted wrong. My pain was consistantly on the left side where the doc had made a deep suture inside me. I had no pain whatsoever at my port site or even where the actual band was located. I was constipated for 6 days.(Sorry if TMI) I have been having trouble sleeping on my sides, which stinks cuz I am a side sleeper at all times! I won't lie, there has been times when I've cried to my husband and just felt like I could give up, cuz I was just so frustrated with feeling bloated, swollen and on top of all that, Mother Nature had visited me as well and not getting to sleep on my side was really getting to me. I was losing alot of sleep. I did forget to mention, I was up walking ALOT and the same day I came home from the hospital, I went to a restaraunt with my hubby and son to let them eat some dinner and get me out of the house. So, it's not alot of pain, it's mainly just feeling uncomfortable. I am on Day 11 now and feeling back to normal pretty much! Sorry this is such a long post, but I thought I would fill you in in my details. I know before my surgery, I was reading all kinds of posts trying to learn everything possible! Hope at least some of it helped. LOL. Good luck with ur surgery and I will keep you in my prayers!! -

Anyone cheated on the pre-op diet, but did great with the band?
indenial replied to victoriously's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
How is everyone doing???? I had my surgery yesterday. I'm way sore. Shoulders hurt. Having a hard time urninating <(TMI) I know. But I'm so happy to finally have had it done. Update please. We were all May surgeries. My curiosity is killing me. -
Hi All - I've been suffering from wicked, wicked, WICKED bronchitis since Thanksgiving. I swear, this has been the roughest virus I've ever had in my life. I've woken up every morning for the past week coughing over a sink and hacking up mucous. In the process, I dry heave because it tickles my gag reflex so much. Good news is I think it's at the tail end (please God, let it be so) since it's all coming out. But I'm worried because I do have a lap band... is it possible to "push" it out of place with dry heaving? Would I notice a difference if it did? I can't really control it at this point... it's just how my body is unfortunately reacting to getting the gunk out. I've been taking Mucinex but otherwise don't take cough suppressants because in order to heal you do need to get the crud out of your lungs one way or another. If I should be suppressing my cough to preserve my band, though, I will reconsider. Thank you, and sorry for the TMI.

How Long After Surgery Did You Wait To Have Sex?
Lilu replied to jennrus's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told to wait for 40 days. I have read that others have done it sooner but the doctor want to make sure that I didn't do any movement that could cause any problems. So we wait for full sex and I just did my part to keep him happy. I know TMI. I just want you to know that it was worth it because I went back in with a very bad infection and then I got my period. So by the time we did it I was 30 lbs less. Since then he can not keep his hand off me. -
If you pass gas at the other end does it feel better too?

1 month monday down 48 lbs
wannabaloser replied to crystal916's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I have lost 40 pounds in one month and 10 days and I don't see it either. Everyone else does though. I am like you with Protein shakes. I am making smoothies with the powder to try to lile it better. I also either have diarrhea (sorry, tmi) or horrible heartburn after I do the Protein drinks. I had energy issues the first week or so but now I feel great. I am super glad I chose this surgery and honestly ig I don't lose another pound I will still be happy. -
Anyone else sleeved Monday may 20
Lorraine_2013 replied to sissytx's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sleeved 5/21 and feeling pretty good. Struggling with life this week as the love of my life has left. Tmi I know but let me tell ya I can't get a thing in and I was rocking this!! I started at 257 and I'm now at 220 so I'm feeling good about being down 37lbs in 3 weeks! Congrats to all and best of luck. -
Hello I just recently had a stomach virus which was absolutely awful. It was coming out both ends(sorry TMI). Anyways I was dry heaving and vomiting (mostly just liquids no hunks of food). Now, I am sore in my chest area and am hoping all is okay with my band. I was unable to eat the whole day I was sick. I was able to eat a few bites of salad w/grilled chicken and then I was full and some food was coming back up. Should I stick with shakes, and soft foods for the next day or 2?

I have my in-laws in from Ireland as well as my mom up from Atlanta taking care of me so I haven't been on here in a bit. I'm 6 days post-op and so far so good. I was supposed to go back to work tomorrow, but I'm going to take the whole week. I'm scared to tell my manager, but he's been saying all along that he'd be supportive...we'll see! I'm sore at my port site, but the gas hasn't been too bad. I'm on Roxicet (TMI...that also means I'm on stool softeners, YUCK!). I've been trying to get out and about but I get pretty tired. How's everyone else doing?

For me I'm fine one minute and then I feels like my stomach is swollen. Then it feel like intense pressure in my stomach and back. Sorry if this is tmi but if I make myself vomit sometimes it goes away. My guess is gas or over eating.. thx for the help guys!!
