  1. I just had to post this. I've been struggling the last couple of months. Seems I've been gaining & losing the same 6-10 pounds. Through this all, I've been going to the gym several times a week. 1. 2 weeks ago I ran into an intern who was returning to work after being away from our company since last (late) July. I was headed out of our office building and he was heading in. I said Hey--glad to see you're back, what's going on! He had a funny look on his face but he was unfailingly polite when we spoke. Cut to last night. He and I and a couple of others went out last night to have a couple of beers (beer, I know). He said, you know, when I saw you a couple of weeks ago, I simply didn't recognize you.. You look alot different. 2. I was told by two different people yesterday that I looked "thin" I told them it was because I had my shirt tucked in, was wearing a belt and had shoes with heels that made me around 6"tall. 3. Able to wear a size of 14 long jeans from American Eagle! The thin part isn't so true, but OMG what a wonderful thing to hear. Take that scale:)

Hi All, It's been a while. I've checked in once in a while but this is actually the first time I could find a minute. Not to mention, I HAD A HUGE NSV AND A SV!!!! For the first time in 8 years, I tried something just for the hell of it....are you ready?....imagine....collar golf shirt (hanging a bit)...black pants (about an inch give in the waist)...hmm, do I dare? Tuck in the shirt in the pants and actually wear a belt!....eyes are still not looking at the mirror (afraid to see the usual belly popping out and hanging from underneath the belt)...slowly look up...AAAGGGHHH! The belly is still there, BUT, not as much and this actually looks OK to wear! I screamed! Ron thought I saw a bug on the floor or something! When he came to the room, I posed! "Wow, you look great" (I love him!). Next... OK. Fluctuated between 216 and 214 for 3 1/2 weeks. Uck! Just for grins today...I mean what the heck?...stepped on the scales...210! About darn time! YaHoo! Hope all is well with you! I think about this forum everyday and I've been inviting some friends who are considering surgery to check it out. I'm so thankful to all of you!

HUGE NSV for me today!!! I bought a pair of jeans at Old Navy!!! I cannot believe I can fit into size 20 jeans! OMG! I am just floating! I also bought a size 18 shirt from Lane Bryant. Size 18!!! This is so wonderful I can't even tell you how good I feel about myself right now. I actually had to buy a belt so I can wear the stuff I have now. I haven't worn a belt in years. I think I will work on cleaning out my closet tomorrow and getting rid of some fat girl clothes. Look out Ebay! Peace!

Here I am checking in for the Challenge. I weighed in this morning at 244. I only lost 1 freakin' pound this week! I am going in for my third fill next Tuesday... let's hope it's "the one!" My clothes are all starting to fit a lot differently. I am down to a size 20 in pants and a size 1x in tops. I was in a tight 22 pants and a 3x top a mere 3 months ago so I'm definatley seeing progress. Buying a pair of jeans at Old Navy has got to be one of my best NSV's so far. My wedding ring is looser, I can take it off at night now. My shoes are looser. I fit into chairs better. I am up to a 20 minute mile with a 5% incline on the treadmill. I have been circuit training as well the past 3 weeks. I am getting to the gym at least twice a week, usually 3 times. I am drinking Water like a fiend, usually 100oz a day or so. I guess when I look at all of this the 1 pound loss isn't so bad, I am getting much healthier overall. Sparkpeople.com has been a lifesaver in helping me track my progress. Peace!

Kim ~ WhooHoo on the NSV!! :welldone:I don't think I've lost 2 sizes yet, but then again, I haven't been shopping. Still wearing my baggies. There seems to be a lot of us with the TOM this week. I just started yesterday and it should have been this past Sun. I was getting a bit concerned. So far, I've stayed the same. Reality is I could eat a HUGE chocolate bunny or anything chocolate for that matter. This is the hardest time for me b/c of the sweet & salt cravings I get with the TOM. chicken salad helps with the salty cravings. BTW, great job on the swimming too!! You inspire me. We joined the Y last week and the boys start swim lessons next week. I plan to work out while their swimming with the teacher. In answer to your question about calories, I am getting around 1000 daily. I was using the FitDay.com, but I was getting tired of entering new info everytime I ate a meal. I wished they had a more thorough food list. Plus with 2 little ones, I barely get my shower in let alone post everything I eat. I should make time for that though...it is important. Marci ~ :wow2: Good for you girl....keep it up!! I barely remember size 18. I WILL see it again someday soon. Also, CONGRATULATIONS on your anniversary of 27 yrs. Do I understand you correctly that your anniversary is on the 10th? We were married 7 yrs on July 10th as well. The kids & DH are recovering from strep, so we put off date night and will do it another time. Such is life with kids. Violetflame ~ Welcome to the May Bandsters Group!! You will find this a great place for support as well as the entire site of LBT!!! :welcome2:

    NSV

This is a great NSV! Congratulations!
  9. ( laughing) I guess you could call this a NSV. I had to go in and get a stress test today and all that blah blah blah. ( just standard stuff) I was dreading it. Talk about being stressed over a stress test! My only thoughts were "I'm gonna die":scared2: When I went in I kinda made a joke to the ladies about knowing CPR and having the oxygen ready for me. My only goal was not to have my heart explode on the treadmill doing 90 miles an hour. I was pleasantly surprised when my heart rate reached 154, they got me off the treadmill and did their after treadmill thing and....I was breathing, as dork as this sounds, it made my day!

    Shoes! NSV

I can almost hear your bank account crying from here in Canada. Haha just kidding, congratulations!! I'm holding off on all purchases until I absolutely need to (which shouldn't be a for awhile, I have had so many dieting struggles that I have goal clothes from years and years back so I should be ok for awhile). Make sure to take a picture of whatever NSV presents you pick up

    Buddies Group - Surgery Dec 4 to 15, 2017

sorry I didn't give any more update yesterday I as .... in an emotional train wreck They cancelled my appointment of the 18 and moved it to jan 22nd.... now they are telling me i do not need to do the liquid diet again HOWEVER they are not giving me any specific guideline. Except like no sugar i can follow a more or less normal diet. I wish they had a list of instruction when they delay someone for SO long. I already did 4 only liquid weeks. Now I am expected to do 5 more pre-op weeks. I found a list online and I think I will follow this guideline https://advancedsurgicalpartnersofva.com/util/forms/liver-reduction-diet.pdf it's a more or less "normal" diet that is for liver reduction. Now for a NSV I did not eat my frustration. I asked my boss to give me the week to digest all this and it was refused I was so upset at this.... so ill keep monitoring what I eat and stick it to this list I found but I need to re-do all my groceries and everything. And tell the government I don't need anything... yay...

    Huge NSV.

Yesterday my girlfriend Angie gave me some before and after pictures. I believe the first picture was when I was at 308 prior to my preop diet . I was banded at 282. Anyway, long story short. What amazed me most is what a 90 lbs difference makes. I was huge in the pictures . A size 24 I believe. I am now a size 18 at 5'8" tall. I can't believe the difference!

Sort Of A Nsv Conquering My "nemesis"

That is wonderful - making those changes PRE-band is a good indicator of how you'll do after! I have not tried any fast food yet, but will keep the Fiesta items in mind if I'm ever in need of some quick meal ideas! I say GOOD FOR YOU on your 1st NSV!!

    Early NSV!!

another NSV i hate my scale it's been stuck for 5 days....i know part of it is that my diabetes has been a litttle less than predictable and i've been letting it run a little high (for safety) especially when i was obstructed. now i feel like my intake is okay and that i can get in some quick glucose if i need to....BUT TO MY NSV!!! i walk at work every day at noon...today i wore these really great velvet pants that i couldn't button the inner button on before surgery...today i put them on without un buttoning them---just slid them right on woohoo..and on my walk i had to keep hitching them up. also i grabbed a full handful of fabric on each leg and held it up a little while walking because they were rubbing together not my legs but the excess fabric was rubbing together......let's spread some joy and encouragement post those NSV amanda
  17. The last time I lost a significant amount of weight on my own was around 1994! I got down to about 240 doing Atkins and exercising everyday for about a year. Of course, it didn't last, but that's the last time I saw the 250's! Well, I broke into the 250's today at 259! About 44 lbs down from my highest and surgery was in August! Not what I should be, but I'm sure not what I used to be! Woohoo!

Mrs. RRn down 41 lbs thats terrific we love all those health improvements - showing the benefits from the sleeve I always knew you were all heart keep up the great job i see many more NSV's in the near future kathy congrats
  19. I guess I'm just venting. Before surgery, I would read people's comments/concerns of "what if it doesn't work for me? what if I can't lose?" and think... of course you're going to lose! You've had your stomach mostly or entirely removed and you're eating a small fraction of what you used to! But now, I get it... I'm about 5.5 weeks post op - in total I've lost almost 40 pounds, but that includes close to 20 pounds in the pre-op liquid diet. In the last 30 days I have only lost about 10 pounds. I never expected to lose 20 pounds a week (I was only about 100 pounds overweight going into surgery) but I did expect to lose more than this. I get more than my daily water intake, all of my protein, take my vitamins, I eat a variety of foods and usually hover around 500-600 cals a day, low to no carb... I do the peloton now that I can exercise 3-4 times a week with strength training and I walk 10,000+ steps a day. Over the last week I have gained 1 pound. I know I know I know that its not based on the scale, to look at my NSVs, and to keep my eyes on the prize long term. But I also feel like I have been able to lose more weight than this on my own in the past. I know it wasn't long term and I couldn't sustain it, but when I think about all of the prep I did, how sick I was, the sacrifices that I have made and how hard I have worked and am working, its easy to feel defeated. I expected to lose at least 15+ pounds a month for the first few months at least, not just hover on these constant plateaus. I'm worried about when I am finally going to stop losing altogether since people say it drops faster in the beginning and then really slows down... I'm already super slow.
  20. No saddness at all in this one! I have a pair of boots my hubby gave me as a Christmas present either in '08 or '09 and they were just the most funky plaid boots with leather steel toes and leather heels, a leather tongue and a leather strap and came up to my knees. He ordered them from a cosplay boutique in Japan when he was in Tokyo and didn't think about how small stuff ran (like that was why they didn't fit, lol)..and yup! They wouldnt fit at all. I got them out last week and wore them with a LBD and he grinned from ear to ear! The LBD happed to be about two sizes too big, but it was an empire waisted dress, so I kinda pulled it off, still. I am actually reordering that dress - the cut is AWESOME for us gals in transition. I love those boots! I love my Hubbie and I LOVE ME!

    My first NSVs

I love it that you shared those NSVs with everyone. It's always my fear that I will break a lawn chair. Hopefully my hubby and I will share a loveseat soon. Keep after it--you are doing great!

    My DH is T-Bone.

Probably the very best NSV is that he didn’t die, and the second best NSV is that I didn’t divorce him. He can walk more than 20 steps without needing to stop and rest or find something to support his back. There's the entire motorcycle thing... he can buy clothes again. He tied his shoes! He has better self care! Me. His job performance is much better. His sleep apnea is better, he’s off most of his meds for diabetes and high blood pressure. The last time he picked me up at the airport he had to get in the truck from the passenger side. He was able to actually do this! ... I don't believe he is keeping a list of his NSVs, which is a shame. I know that when I talk about divorcing him because of his weight, most people don’t understand. It wasn’t like he weighed 200 pounds and then gained 200 pounds. He started at over 400 pounds and gained close to 200 pounds so he ended up at 600 pounds. Six hundred pounds. That is more than a Jersey cow weighs at 15 months. (http://www.usjersey.com/ ) You couldn’t even imagine the impact the extra weight had on my life. Before it happens, you think no bit deal, but until it happens…

I did the same thing a couple of weeks ago, but it didn't dawn on me that it was a NSV! I just thought I didn't need them anymore because I hadn't ordered in such a long time!
