Protein Ideas? HELP! 2 weeks post
champagne301 replied to nanno90's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm only out 2 or so weeks too, but these have saved me so far, Unflavored Genepro - It's only 1T and gives 30 grams of protein, and I mix it into jello, chicken broth or creamed soups. I also do Syntrax's Nectar and Matrix brand protein powder drinks...I found one that I absolutely LOVE, Matrix Mint Chocolate Chip Cookie. It tastes like a shamrock shake, and I could drink this every day w/o issues! I'm sure other's will have great ideas too, Good luck! -
My head is so foggy I can't get my **** together. Help, please?
Yaberhoo replied to glitterpockets's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
First of all, be gentle to yourself during this hard time. You have just experienced a tragedy and you are in shock. Forgive yourself for being spacey and allow yourself to grieve. Protein. I hate all the Protein shakes I have tried so far. I use GENEPRO and mix it with sugar free hot chocolate or a cream based Soup. It's whey and unflavored (but not tasteless) so the milk based foods hide it better. You need to use a thermometer to keep the liquid below 140 degrees or the Proteins start to congeal like fried egg. Vitamins. I found a one a day Vitamin specifically for bariatric patients on Amazon. It's called Bariatric Once-A-Day by Prohealth. -
Genepro Unflavored Protein
Dairymary replied to KristenLe's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm long past the Protein supplementation stage, but I asked my daughter about GENEPRO (she's a doctor). She could not find any clinical studies or nutritional analyses that support the company's claims. The science behind the product is based on insitu experiments (meaning in a test tube) and theories projected from studies of other products. She couldn't say if it was good or bad, just that there have never been any published trials that measures the actual bioavailability and absorbability of Genepro. These are very basic, simple studies that even dog and cat food have to go through for the nutritional profiles printed on the bags. It is not an FDA approved product and Until this company proves their claims with clinical trials, she considers it just snake oil. Seems to me the company could legitimize itself and its product by simply conducting these basic trials (if the product really is what they claim). But on the other hand, they've got millions of customers buying their products with no proof whatsoever that it's anything but a white powder that dissolves in Water, so I guess strategic marketing trumps science in this case. -
Genepro Unflavored Protein
ShelterDog64 replied to KristenLe's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Genepro claims to make 30g of protein bioavailable in a 1T scoop. 1T is 14-ish g of weight, depending on what the item being measured is. People don't believe the electrophoresis process can refine the protein into a more bioavailable form. I have access to enough science-y people who say that it's quite possible and actually very likely. It's up to each person to determine whether they are Genepro fans or not, but what it boils down to for me is that it's at the very least 15g/T and it's the only protein powder I can stand the smell/taste/texture of, so I use it. I've lost 63 lbs since the end of June and am on track for my interim goals to my larger goal, so I consider it a good product FOR ME and will continue to use it unless something changes. -
Adventures with Unjury Unflavored
expectopatronum replied to expectopatronum's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I bought some of the GENEPRO but I've read mixed reviews on it so I've been hesitant to open it up and try it. I had no idea that the hardest part of this so far would be drinking a silly protein shake! -
Getting sick of protein shakes--literally
magoosmom posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am on my fourth week post op (June 21 surgery) and I have been doing fine on Protein shakes until the last few days. My diet plan called for two weeks of liquids followed by two weeks of purée (but no meats and no eggs). With two Protein Shakes a day, I was meeting my protein goal (getting close to 70 g). Now I dread drinking them. I get nauseated while drinking and even gagged this morning. I used to be able to drink all 8 oz and now I am lucky to get six in before giving up. I do the purée food at each meal but the only way to get the protein in is through the shakes. So I am pretty frustrated. Any suggestions? I do have lift drinks but not a huge fan and it takes me a long time to work through them. I have also done a scoop of GENEPRO in unsweetened iced tea. Milky Protein NO MAS!!! I need help!
Colorado Cowgirl replied to Erica_B's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Buy unflavored protein powder and add a teaspoon to chicken broth, chicken soup, thinned out refried beans, etc. I eat Genepro and I can't taste it if I mix it really well. Each teaspoon is 10 g of protein. -
Favorite Flavorless Protein Powder?
Slimming Down Steve replied to PlanetHopper's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Genepro just loss a law suit. They are comparing the products30 grams a serving to others 33.3 gram scoops. 1 tbsp has 14.3 grams in a tablespoon. Couldn't prove with science how 30 grams gets squeezed into 14.3 grams. So each scoop max would be 14.3 grams at the most. The products 14.3 grams may be as absorbing as well as 30 grams, I think not. That's why they got sued. Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using BariatricPal mobile app -
Does anyone use this? What do you mix yours with?? Can you mix it with anything regardless of temp... I know it says hot or cold - just paranoid Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Genepro powder is awesome. 30 grams in a tiny scoop and it mixes great with hot tea. Not taste at all. I have 2 cups of tea a day to at least get my 60g without my food

Protein drinks are nasty. I only drank the necessary amount during pre-diet and the few weeks after surgery. I have not touched them since. Fortunately my doctor does not want me to use them at all now. My NUT tells me I should be eating my protein not drinking it. Of course early on you can't but that's such a short period of your life even though it feels like an eternity when you are in the middle of it. Premier Choc and Vanilla were my faves. But the Genepro unflavored was great because I would add it to homemade chicken and beef stock and it was delicious. It saved me because I could eat it with a spoon and felt like food but took care of my fluid requirements at the same time.

Hello all I am new to this forum and scheduled for surgery on April 21 and today I purchased premiere Protein shakes but didn't see any unflavored powder at Costco's for my soup. I saw a youtube tutorial where a young lady was talking about GENEPRO and asked my nutritionist about it and she looked it up and didn't recommend it so I didn't order it. advice pls!!!

Recommendations for unflavored protein powder
Esi replied to Christina Phillips's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Now that the new Genepro changed their product, I am looking for a new brand. I tried BiPro Bold and Isopure, both unflavored. Both tasted and smelled like mold and had to be discarded. Does anyone use a protein powder that is unflavored, and truly tastes and smells like nothing? -
GENEPRO

Hey guys, I don't care for the conversation here. The studies were not just them. I am not trying to sell anyone any thing. For myself I will keep using GENEPRO. I am not selling this at all. I have my email with the information. I don't know who made you judge and jury here. Have a great day -

Also I got the unjury starter pack to try some flavors. It is a personal think I only like their chicken and unflavored and I am not even trying strawberry because that is not my thing. I have 4 individual packs of 3 flavors. If anyone interested DM me and I can drop in envelope to you! Ps: I tried GENEPRO and their company site and story are just too bizarre but to each their own!

I use premier Protein for one meal and then GENEPRO medical grade powder missed with something for another meal ( it's pretty gross) - the body can't absorb more than 30 at a time I read - so I do it at two separate meals Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

GENEPRO
Sherrie Scharbrough replied to Sherrie Scharbrough's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Well, the reason and the only reason that I loved GENEPRO is because I can use it in whatever. I am NO WAY pushing anything on anyone. I am NOT getting anything from this company. I don't have a pictue up because I don't know how to do it. And I also had been on here for quite awhile but I quit using the other account due to being hacked and went to my true name. My old account was under shedo82773. I am not new here at all. If onmly had to use GENEPRO as my protein intake well yes there would be problem. I also eat to get protein also. It would seem to me that if I was having problems it would show up in my bllodwork that is still beiing sent to my BARIATRIC SUREGON. I know if there was a problem they would be the first ones to let me know. I am sorry that this post made so many upset. Like was said we all have to do whatever it takes to maintain our health. So if YEARS down the road I get myself in trouble I will come back here and tell you that you were roight. Again Have a great day -
Genepro protein rocks!
Thinkingthinner1109 replied to puttingme1st's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Genepro was approved by my NUT. I checked with her before I ordered and wasted a bunch of money. -
My doctor also suggested a product called GENEPRO. He said there is 30g of Protein in a tablespoon. It is unflavored and can be added to Water, crystal light, oatmeal or anything. I haven't tried it yet but he says it is great. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I had my surgery on 12/29/17. I have lost 46 pounds and feel great! I haven’t had any issues other than learning to eat slower. I am tolerating most foods and doing a decent job getting my water in. I am no longer a Diabetic and other medications have been cut in half. I am so happy I did this and suprised that the medical results are showing so fast. I exercise with weights 3 days a week and light cardio 3 days. I started taking Genepro Protein powder to keep my levels up. I’ve heard lots of complaints but it’s working for me. Love this website and being able to read everyone’s story.
