    I don't enjoy food anymore.

Ladies...it will get better I promise! You just have to give it time...be patient with your new tummy.. I had my gall bladder and the sleeve done at the same time on 12/17/14..I had atleast 4 breakdowns...thought it was the worst decision of my life...I am still struggling with the protein and liquids but I am determined to get it right...b12 for energy it has helped me tremendously. ..make sure you are chewing chewing chewing...I still can't enjoy lots of foods but the ones I can I eat the heck out of them...lol...as soon as you feel full stop eating even if it is not the amount intended...let your tummy be your guide...I just ordered genepro on amazon going to try that... I am taking this (pic below) to help with hair loss until I can get my proteins right...can't tolerate shakes...I just woke up one day and things were better... I hope you both feel better soon!!!

    Protein - alternative supplements

I have tried the strawberry. Its a little to artificial for me. It tastes like capn crunch crunch berries, if you have had that before. Plus its like 220 cals for 13 grams of protein, which is a bit high. If you throw in some GENEPRO, which does alter the flavor a bit negatively, it becomes 43 grams of protein and 277 cals. The drink powder itself only has 5g of protein and 27 grams of carbs. Your actually better off having 2 glasses of milk.

GENEPRO http://www.musclegen.net/ .... this is oderless and tasteless and does not clump. You can add it to hot or cold....or just sprinkle over your food. This stuff is great. One tablespoon equals a scoop of whey and has 30grams of Protein. It is approved by John Hopkins and has 96% absorbtion. You can also order it from Amazon. I go by every morning to a shake shop....get a Chunky Monkey (35 grams of protein).....add a scoop of Genepro (30 grams of protein)....mid morning I fix a Crystal Light and add another scoop.....I already have 95 grams for the day!!! Contact the website....I understand that they will send you samples?? Also check this link out....it might be helpful: What You Need to Know Before and After Surgery https://www.allinahealth.org/ahs/bariatric.nsf/page/bariatric-manual-2010.pdf/$FILE/bariatric-manual-2010.pdf

    Protein Drink witch one

I use Premium Protein from Costco and I really like the chocolate and the vanilla. The strawberry cream is too sweet for me but my friend loves that flavor. I also got Genepro unflavored protein powder that I use in sf pudding and blended soups. I'm getting plenty of protein easily. I have been blending frozen fruit in my Premium Protein and it is delicious and my tummy doesn't mind.

    Day 8

I put my genepro in all my soups and I do 3 premier protein shakes( breakfast lunch and dinner) until I move to puréed and soft phase. I know how important the protein is so I make sure when I make jello- genepro is in it. Pudding, genepro. Lol
  7. My doctor said not to use a straw because it adds air to your intestinal tract causing bloating and gas pain. I found an unflavored Protein powder GENEPRO that I've been using to add to broth because I was bored with Protein shakes. I didn't find a cinnamon bun flavored one on amazon that wasn't too bad and to up the protein I added greek yogurt to my shakes.

Niki - how did you like the Genepro?
  10. Hello Joy59 Our day is coming up rapidly. Lucky you only had 2 days. I had 2 weeks but,I wasn't 100% compliant. I was having problems with my blood sugars 59,62,92 (after eating 4 grapes)and 72. So I had to eat bites but I'm still losing. I hope I can get to 269-270 by the 8th. I do ok with Water I usually try to drink 4 16.9 bottles that will give me almost 68oz. plus any other liquids. With the Protein Idrink a cup of ta when I get up. I put 1 spoonful of Splenda/sugar and 1 spoonful of GENEPRO in the tea. Genepro is 30 grams of protein. Then I drink 1 Premier chocolate shake that's 30 grams. and a Equate Shake before bed 10 gram. I don't get my 800 cal. I will be glad when surgery day is here and over. Let the healing begin.

    Protein powder help

I use a ninja blender then if I have to refrigerate for a while before drinking it, I put it in a blender bottle and just shake it up works perfectly. I use Genepro Which is 30 grams of protein for about a tablespoon of powder and I also use U njury. If I mix Genepro chocolate splendor and 8 ounces of skim milk I get 59 grams of protein. Then I don't stress out about getting all my protein in. It's works for me and my Nut approved as long as my other meals are protein also. I have not had any stalls in my 13 weeks post op. Idk if that is why or not but I feared the "stalls" so many people talk about. Grateful I haven't had those as I am not a very patient person.
  12. I tried to use GENEPRO in my coffee this morning but it got lumpy and then I found a lot at the bottom when I was done. Anyone have a trick for me to get it to blend smoothly? My coffee mug is probably 1.5 cups

    Genepro Unflavored Protein

I'm long past the Protein supplementation stage, but I asked my daughter about GENEPRO (she's a doctor). She could not find any clinical studies or nutritional analyses that support the company's claims. The science behind the product is based on insitu experiments (meaning in a test tube) and theories projected from studies of other products. She couldn't say if it was good or bad, just that there have never been any published trials that measures the actual bioavailability and absorbability of Genepro. These are very basic, simple studies that even dog and cat food have to go through for the nutritional profiles printed on the bags. It is not an FDA approved product and Until this company proves their claims with clinical trials, she considers it just snake oil. Seems to me the company could legitimize itself and its product by simply conducting these basic trials (if the product really is what they claim). But on the other hand, they've got millions of customers buying their products with no proof whatsoever that it's anything but a white powder that dissolves in Water, so I guess strategic marketing trumps science in this case.

    Genepro Unflavored Protein

Genepro claims to make 30g of protein bioavailable in a 1T scoop. 1T is 14-ish g of weight, depending on what the item being measured is. People don't believe the electrophoresis process can refine the protein into a more bioavailable form. I have access to enough science-y people who say that it's quite possible and actually very likely. It's up to each person to determine whether they are Genepro fans or not, but what it boils down to for me is that it's at the very least 15g/T and it's the only protein powder I can stand the smell/taste/texture of, so I use it. I've lost 63 lbs since the end of June and am on track for my interim goals to my larger goal, so I consider it a good product FOR ME and will continue to use it unless something changes.

    4 days post op...

I bought chicken noodle soup and just sipped on the soup did not eat the noodles or chicken or veggies. I didn't start eating until cleared to go on soft foods. I found Starbucks mocha light Frappucino at CVS and would add a scoop of unflavored Genepro to it and sip on that, still drink it for breakfast with a boiled egg

    January 20 Sleevers?

LOve that we are all helping each other. Try the oikos triple zero. It has zero calories zero sugar and zero fat. 15 grams of Protein and the GENEPRO should up your protein. You can also blend the yogurt with your protein and add a splash of milk to make it easier to go down.

    Post-Op Liquid Diet

I like Unjury chocolate splendor. The only other protein powder I use is Genepro. No taste. You can put it in anything hot or cold. No clumping.
  18. I had the same question as the OP about GENEPRO. Has anyone actually had blood work done to check their Protein levels since starting on Genepro? I mean lab results from your own doctor that show it works as they claim it does? I'm interested, but their claims sound too good to be true. I don't want to take it thinking I'm getting the protein my body needs after bypass surgery and then find out it's all a sham. But I haven't seen one review yet that's supported by factual evidence of protein levels in the body after taking the product for any length of time. Have you had any other noticeable results (or problems) since you started taking Genepro?

    Protein supplements?!

Good topic, I was debating whether I would start one like it myself. I bought the Lean Body premixed in bulk just before mysurgery - I liked the flavor just slightly less than the Muscle Milk but they had the Lean Body on sale. I found after surgery that though I can stomach the flavor (not as yummy as before but not gross, either), the consistency or SOMEthing makes it nearly impossible for me to swallow more than about 1/4 of a container of it at a time... I bought lots of Protein powder single serving samples at the local Vitamin store but didn't much like any of them enough... and I discovered that making Protein shakes, and drinking protein shakes... just wasn't something I was looking for. One of the samples was for a flavorless protein supplement that was ok but still make a major change to the texture of the drink which I didn't care for. Somewhere I found a link for MuscleGen Research's GENEPRO Protein Powder which is advertised as adding 30g of protein in a single tablespoon and that it doesn't change the flavor or texture of anything you add to it, so supposedly you could add it to coffee, sodas, food, whatever. I thought about it for a couple weeks then ultimately bought it from Amazon (saved me the hefty shipping charge) and it came a few days ago. I've just started adding one tablespoon to my 28oz shaker/bottle/drink container for the last 3 days and although there is a tiny bit of clumping, and a noticeable head of foam right after shaking, it really doesn't change the flavor of my crystal light, coffee, or Water in any way. Which is what I was looking for. I can also report (although I cannot knowledge-ably claim a causal relationship between the genepro and the loss) i broke my stall of almost 6 weeks in the last 2 days, which I am happy about. upping my protein was something I thought about for a long while but since I was over 60g everyday already didn't think was a necessity. If adding the 30g is what got the scale to move, I won't complain! fyi: http://smile.amazon.com/Musclegen-Research-Genepro-Genetic-Tri-Protein/dp/B00K6OSDYA/ref=sr_1_cc_1?s=aps&ie=UTF8&qid=1410996551&sr=1-1-catcorr&keywords=genepro

GENEPRO unflavored mixed in ANYTHING. It is truly flavorless!! I bought it on Amazon

    Unflavored protein powder

Im not liking the unflavored I can still notice it not sure how to describe the flavor but I certainly notice it. I can only tolerate it in chicken soup but I also wanted it for drinks. Im gonna try genepro instead.

    protein supplements

Genepro powder is awesome. 30 grams in a tiny scoop and it mixes great with hot tea. Not taste at all. I have 2 cups of tea a day to at least get my 60g without my food

    My hair, my hair!

I began losing hair at the four month mark, but it wasn't drastic. I added GENEPRO to my morning coffee as a way of easily sliding in more Protein, and that seemed to help a bit. I haven't taken any Biotin because of fears it could cause a breakout. I also tried collagen after reading about it on here, though it was at the 7 month mark when hair loss had slowed down considerably so I can't really gauge its benefit. The main thing that helped me was to stop washing my hair every day. I started washing it every other day, or even every third day. I'd wear a shower cap and then would sprinkle some dry shampoo in my hair to refreshen it up. I like Lush's the best, but there are several brands that have them. I also think I benefitted from slowing down my weight loss a little. I went on a lengthy vacation at Christmas and wasn't being as mindful about tracking my eating. I didn't gain any weight, but also didn't lose any during that time either. I noticed that my hair loss slowed considerably. I started losing weight again in the new year, but at a slower pace. I've still met my goals, and my hair loss has stayed minimal.

    Best Unflavored Protein Powder?

Genepro! It has more protein (30g) and only 1 spoon instead of 2 spoons for isopure and isopure has less protein...all personal preference though.

    Premier protein

If they make you feel bloated you might be Lactose Intolerant. I did Premier drinks 2 weeks proop and 4 weeks postop. It gave me the back door trots so bad I couldn't leave the house without a pad on. TMI I know but so very true!! My PA told me after I was almost done with my postop that I was more than likely Lactose Intolerant. I also use GENEPRO. It is great stuff. And it is made by a VETERAN. So we get to support them too. Lots of peeps become Lactose Intolerant after their WLS.
