Favorite unflavored protein?
Gracy0721 replied to hopefulmom76's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I too could not handle the flavored protein drinks post surgery. Recently I purchased GenePro unflavored protein powder. I mix it with Crystal Light and don't taste a thing. I have mixed it in scrambled eggs, pudding and soup...Love it!!! They offer a sample pack. -

Favorite unflavored protein?
Sara51692 replied to hopefulmom76's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I just tried unjury unflavored and hated it. I didn't even put NEAR the serving amount into a large bottle of Crystal Light and it had a bad aftertaste. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it...maybe try to sneak small amounts of it into my meals and Water all day? UGH. I do the Premier Protein premade chocolate ones and they're great, but I'm sick of sweet things. I'm looking forward to trying GENEPRO and nectar. -
I drink the Premier Protein chocolate shakes over ice and it tastes like a yoohoo to me. People also in my support group use Genepro and put it in various foods and drinks, and they say it's tasteless and odorless!

Sick of cold and sweet
Sleeve1stFitNext replied to lo.la's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Genepro sold in the bariatric store, can be added to tea, broth, soup. It mixes in nicely. -
Try genepro. Mix it with crystal light, water or whatever liquid you’re allowed to have. If you mix it with warm broth, mix it first with cold water and add slowly to broth. Odorless and tasteless. I still use it

Unflavored Protein question
ShelterDog64 replied to Christina.Rose's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What do you put your Genepro in? I have some and tried it with watered down juice (I can't handle artificial sweeteners) and it made it change a weird color and get really THICK. And it was a large glass. Yuck. I use it in coffee every morning...I dissolve it in some half and half in the bottom of the cup, with a fork, then add the coffee. If you don't use cream, some lukewarm Water works too. I also put it in refried Beans, yogurt, soup...anything loose or moist works well. And I tried something new the other day that worked fine: I think you probably know about my incessant struggle with meat, so cheese is a huge source of protein for me. I like the La Tortilla Factory high pro/high fiber/low carb tortillas, so I took one of the small ones they made and made a quesadilla like I usually do, but I tossed the shredded cheese in some Protein Powder before I put it in the tortilla. I used the rest of the scoop in the sour cream + salsa mixture I make to dip it in. That little bit of extra effort got me 20+ grams protein in my quesadilla The secret to Genepro, in my experience, is to mix it into something cold or cool then add it to warm liquids. I add it directly to warm thicker foods like refried beans with no problems. I don't use it in cold liquids at all, since all I drink is water. I'd think you could mix it into lemonade, though, in a shaker bottle then let it sit for a few minutes for the foam to settle. -
Protein powder recommendations?
puttingme1st replied to boosh10's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Genepro!!! I can't say enough good about this. It's tasteless, mixes in anything and has 30g of protein. It's the best thing ever, especially when you are sick of other protein drinks -
Adventures with Unjury Unflavored
expectopatronum replied to expectopatronum's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I bought some of the GENEPRO but I've read mixed reviews on it so I've been hesitant to open it up and try it. I had no idea that the hardest part of this so far would be drinking a silly protein shake! -
Protein powder recommendations?
Summer Rain replied to boosh10's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I just want to say that I ordered this Genepro (NUT okayed it) and I did not care for it. It changed the consistency of my food and was very gritty. -
Avoid Genepro, it is crap and was successfully sued for false claims of "medical grade protein" and the claimed 30 grams of protein. It is actually been proven in court that it is only 11 grams. https://www.pacermonitor.com/public/case/19892822/SI03,_Inc_v_Musclegen_Research,_Inc

I just started full liquid yesterday. Day two and i have 4 different flavors.. well 5.. but the 5th one (caramel) i bought reserved to use as creamer. I have peaches n cream, cookies n cream, chocolate and bananas n cream. I dont think i bought the strawberry but not sure. Then when i am done with these i have 3 cases of protein2o and i also have genepro( 90 day supply). I think i am set on additional protein for awhile-considering the daily supplement after the initial liquid stage is only 30 per day LOLOL.

2nd week post op smoothie ideas?
A New KK replied to melk86's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor said not to use a straw because it adds air to your intestinal tract causing bloating and gas pain. I found an unflavored Protein powder GENEPRO that I've been using to add to broth because I was bored with Protein shakes. I didn't find a cinnamon bun flavored one on amazon that wasn't too bad and to up the protein I added greek yogurt to my shakes. -
What do you eat in a day to get 70-80 G Protein
angryspice replied to loridee11's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm not a vet, so I still do a protein shake or protein powder (usually genepro in pudding) on most days of the week, but there are definitely days I go without a supplement. on those days, I am typically eating some combination of the following foods: 3-4oz of meat or fish (~20-28 grams), greek yogurt (15g), a cup of beans (~15g+/-), Yasso frozen greek yogurt bars (5-6g each) various cheeses (~5-7g per serving), cashews (~5g per ~1/4 cup), eggs (6g each) oats (~2-3g per 1/4 cup). chia seeds (~2-3g per tbs), ground flaxseed (~1-2g per tbs), some veggies (peas in particular) and even bread and other carbs have small amounts of protein, and It all adds up at the end of the day. I always get 60+ grams per day, but usually more. I don't eat a lot of meat and try my best to limit all deli/processed meats, but I do find that is the easiest, most efficient way to get the protein in without a supplement. -
I've read lots of people rave about genepro, and seems like the perfect protein supplement. but after researching the company, the genetic process they use to create the stuff and failing to find any sort of scientific evidence to support the claims, I'm just not comfortable using it as a protein source. It may be the "miracle supplement" it claims to be, but then again it may just be modern day snake oil. (Look at the other fad supplements the company offers) In the meantime I'll stick with "real" protein, even with the temperature and taste issues.

Surgery postponed, new date July 12
Sherrie Scharbrough replied to Krista143's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi I buy my GENEPRO online thru Amazon. It is kind of expensive but it only takes 1 tablespoon. Some will argue about the grams of protein, I have used this for quite awhile now and have not had anything abnormal on my blood work. It is the only one that is tasteless that I have found. Good Luck -
Any one ordered through Bariatric Pal before?
Lexington1020 posted a topic in Duodenal Switch Surgery Forum
I am starting to buy my supplements and I was curious if anyone bought their stuff exclusively through Bariatric Pal store and if they have tried GENEPRO Medical Grade Unflavored 30g Protein Powder - 2nd Generation. I am kinda overwhelmed as to what to purchase- also if any women can offer insight to the soft chews (as far as good flavor) I was going to buy the three pack- but then put it back and just stuck with berry. Any information is welcome! TIA! -
Flavorless Protein powder
Christina.Rose replied to Christina.Rose's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks everyone! I just got some muscle milk and Atkins pre made ones to start....thats what was at Walmart when I went.....I am really interested the GENEPRO so I will probably get some of that later on. Sent from my SM-J700P using the BariatricPal App -
I bought chicken noodle soup and just sipped on the soup did not eat the noodles or chicken or veggies. I didn't start eating until cleared to go on soft foods. I found Starbucks mocha light Frappucino at CVS and would add a scoop of unflavored Genepro to it and sip on that, still drink it for breakfast with a boiled egg

GENEPRO
Sherrie Scharbrough replied to Sherrie Scharbrough's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Hey guys, I don't care for the conversation here. The studies were not just them. I am not trying to sell anyone any thing. For myself I will keep using GENEPRO. I am not selling this at all. I have my email with the information. I don't know who made you judge and jury here. Have a great day -
GENEPRO
Sherrie Scharbrough replied to Sherrie Scharbrough's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Well, the reason and the only reason that I loved GENEPRO is because I can use it in whatever. I am NO WAY pushing anything on anyone. I am NOT getting anything from this company. I don't have a pictue up because I don't know how to do it. And I also had been on here for quite awhile but I quit using the other account due to being hacked and went to my true name. My old account was under shedo82773. I am not new here at all. If onmly had to use GENEPRO as my protein intake well yes there would be problem. I also eat to get protein also. It would seem to me that if I was having problems it would show up in my bllodwork that is still beiing sent to my BARIATRIC SUREGON. I know if there was a problem they would be the first ones to let me know. I am sorry that this post made so many upset. Like was said we all have to do whatever it takes to maintain our health. So if YEARS down the road I get myself in trouble I will come back here and tell you that you were roight. Again Have a great day -
I have really started learning the real difference between head hunger and real hunger since being sleeved on Wednesday. Many times I thought I was starving, had about 6 spoonfuls of broth, and was STUFFED! It's learning to fight the head hunger now. Please don't risk testing your new stomach too early. Is it really worth ending up back in the hospital for another surgery? I ordered genepro protein that is supposed to be here tomorrow. It's supposed to be tasteless that you can just add to regular drinks and it's not supposed to be clumpy. I'll let everyone know how it is!

Can't take enough fluids :(

Kindle gave some good suggestions. As for where to buy unflavored Protein there are brands such as Prosource, GENEPRO and Isopure. Prosource and Genepro are available online only as afar as I know, but Isopure can be purchased at GNC or Vitamin Shoppe. All 3 can be mixed with cold or hot beverages. Do not get discouraged if you don't like the first Protein Drink you buy or even the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th. I went through several before I found protein I liked that didn't trigger my allergies. Water is important, but as long as you get in some type of fluids, you won't get dehydrated. However you have to get in something. Don't suffer with a beverage you can't stand. -

I used Un jury unflavored protein and you can mix it in anything up to 140 degrees. That was warm enough for me. supposedly genepro can be mixed with anything at any temperature. Never tried it. And I rarely cook, much less make soup, so they all came from a can, box or whatever the daily specials were at the local deli or soup/salad bar at the whole food store.
