  1. A couple years ago I was prescribed Phentermine from a weight loss doctor/family physician. It worked wonders and did exactly what I needed it to do, lose the extra 15 pounds diet and exercise wouldn't work to lose. Sadly i gained some weight with this pandemic and would like to try Phentermine again, but the doctor retired and I'm not looking to see a huge weight loss clinic type setting. Was wondering if anyone knew of a doctor they could recommend in the Cherry Hill area that I could possibly use? Any info would be greatly appreciated, Sara
  2. Hi I got the gastric sleeve on the 5th of March 2021. Weight was going down steadily for the first 10 days and now it just remains the same or increases a little. Any advice on what to do ?
  3. Hello everyone. I’m Marissa and I had gastric bypass in October of 2020. I’m roughly 5.5 months post op from having the surgery at Baptist Bariatrics. With my surgeon being Dr H. I’m writing to introduce myself. HW 292 SW 273 CW 207 GW 150. I’m doing my best to reach Onederland so any advise is welcome.
  4. I only lost 25lbs with the sleeve. Now because of problems with my sleeve my Dr is doing a bypass on the 6th of April. I have about 50lbs of extra weight.
  5. Had gbp 2019... over 18 months I was able to lose 100 pounds. Since loosing the initial 100 lbs I still have approximately 30lbs to lose. But it's not budging. I carry all my weight in midsection. I think the last weight i need to met is my stomach. I work out and eat healthy. Any tips on how to loose that last 30lbs? All suggestions are appreciated. 6. Man, if I had a dollar for every critic who said this to me on these boards. It's a past time of a certain type of dieter....to send me hate mail and try to shame me for being outspoken. "You're still overweight! You shouldn't be telling people what to do! How dare you not feel ashamed at that weight!" Shakin my head over here. If I wanted to be 140, I could be. Have been. Looked god-awful and felt like I was starving all the time. If I wanted to be 160, I could be. Have been. I wasn't particularly hungry, got a reasonable number of calories, but thought I looked older. I like a little more round to my angles. I like less sag, fewer wrinkles. Not real interested in cosmetic surgery. Picked the best option for me. I like eating 1600 calories a day. I like having space in my diet for a couple pieces of fruit because I think phytonutrients are beneficial and important. I like how i feel eating a high fiber diet. I like room to be a vegetarian some days. I like flexability. It's how I can face this as a lifelong change. It's how I can make peace with food forever....cause I know this plan is WORKABLE in pretty much all situations. I can eat on my plan during a holiday, a funeral, a birthday party....during a power outage, while recovering from an injury, during extreme emotional stress, on the road, and while dealing with my inlaws. LOL. I typically weigh 165-170 pounds. I LOVE this weight. It is NOT "the best I could do because I couldn't get to a "healthy weight" ", it is an intentionally chosen set point. It's a choice. This is, I am 100% certain...the MOST healthy weight I can choose for myself. That whole...Arnold Schwarzenegger's BMI was technically Obese when he won Mr. Universe figures in. BMI is flawed. It doesn't differentiate between light muscle frames and heavy muscle frames, bigger bones, smaller bones. Different ethnicities. Different body styles. My feet, depending on the manufacturer are size 10 or 11. My shoulders are more broad than most men's my height. My butt, thighs and calves are overdeveloped because I rode huntseat and jumped horses for decades, even when I was quite heavy. My husband says they have a kinda superhero quality now. LOLOLOLOL So here's the thing....If you feel inclined to send me a snarky note about how I shouldn't say anything....because I'm not American Media model skinny, you might have a problem. As it happens, I have a good friend who models. He's 5' 10", weighs 157 pounds soaking wet, and they STILL wanted him to use coke for a week and fast...to look more sickly skinny for his last national ad campaign. Our impression of body image in the media is grossly distorted and unhealthy. And a lot of folks here....get a grossly distorted and unhealthy obsession with their eating habits, their BMI, the number on the scale, and how it defines them. Please, please, please remember....health. Physical health, strength, endurance, good labs, fewer medications. Emotional health...loving yourself, enjoying your life, feeling challenged and happy. Mental health...finding balance you can live with for a lifetime. Love your strong healthy body. Love your good food choices that provide good nutrition to nurture that body. Love the flexability to make it work though the tough spots. Avoid the fixations, the extremes, the inflexable rules, the disordered eating (and disordered not-eating) You can trust yourself to get to where you need to be....without punishment. Love yourself. Love yourself. Love yourself.
  7. Hey everyone! I'm back on here, looking for motivation and advice. Long story short, I've just had my first surgery following my final cancer treatment and the biopsy came back all clear! Looks like I beat the odds and tackled esophageal cancer in 16 months. I did not go through chemo, therefore the stress of the situation drove me back into bad eating habits and I put on 30 pounds. I'm 4 years and 3 months post-bypass. I've maintained at 200 pounds (down from 369 at my biggest) and was very proud of myself until recently. I have packed this weight on over the last 4 months. Winter. Holidays. Cancer. COVID. It all conspired to make for a rough patch, but I'm on the other side of the mountain now and determined to get back down to 200 which is where I'm happy and looking healthy. Thoughts? Advice? Words of encouragement?
  8. Going through Dr. Kia in Flint, Michigan. Did my 6 weigh ins and consistently lost 1-2 lbs every month. In December was put on Depakote and began to gain weight. Was just denied due to the gain and even worse was told none of my weigh ins count and I’m starting over. I’m devastated. Going to appeal. Anyone have advice? Mclaren Health Plan.
  9. For those who have been sleeved and are in maintenance phase... has your nutritionist told you what your goal macro percentages should be for Protein, Fats, and Carbs? Would you mind sharing what you are doing there? I got detoured for a bit and need to dig up my notes as I work to get back on track But I am also curious to compare what others are doing.
  10. Im only 9 months post op vsg... I did really well til Christmas hit and ate one cookie, then another, and on and on. I cant cut sugar and im right back to all my bad choices. I crave food all day long. Help I have gained 20 pounds since December. Sent from my SM-G965U using BariatricPal mobile app
  11. I had not considered getting a breast reduction or lift until today my PA mentioned that "sometimes insurance will cover it, if there's enough sag in the skin" I highly doubt I qualify, but wondered what info y'all had on this. Anyone had an insurance-supported lift or reduction? Is one considered "medically necessary" and the other "cosmetic?" I laughed as I told my provider. "Hey, if they'll pay for it, I'll have anything done!"
  12. Had my surgery in 2018 and 2019 I had only lost 80 lb. Since then I've had a tummy tuck again. So that means I have less bile in my stomach. Since then I have not lost anything and this is the year 2021 . I have not lost anything since then and why am I not losing. I am eating right but not getting a lot of exercise because of this pandemic covid-19. So I am walking my dog and doing what I can around the house to keep busy and trying to burn off calories but nothing has worked. I don't have the money to go to a exercise gym so my plan is to workout at home but I don't like doing it alone. Don't have a lot of friends. And don't know what to do I consulted my doctor and he said it's because of this covid-19 after this it will come off. I'm just getting stressful in getting down on myself cuz I don't know what else to do. I want to be thinner I want to look good. And I want to be healthier. I'm doing everything correctly but why am I'm not losing anything I know everyone says this two to three weeks stall will pass and then our bodies won't start losing more body weight. And went through the two to three weeks tall and my body has not lost anything since then. And I am getting frustrated. I'm thinking about not eating and starving myself to lose the weight. I eat very small as it is now drink the shakes that I should be 4 meals breakfast lunch and dinner and I haven't lost anything since. I was down before my second surgery at 219 and then I gained 10 lbs back and now I am at 232 and maintain that weight for now. Not lost anything since then. But my hair is still coming out. Im down on myself . don't know what else to do? Why can't I be thin. I want to lose another 40 lbs . be under 200 lbs I'll be good. But can't lose fast enough ! Help me please, tell me what can I do!
  13. I’ve lost 33 pounds in my first two months lost bypass. I’m pretty happy with this although for some reason I thought it would be faster. The doctor said it’s really going to slow down - I didn’t realize this. Any thoughts or comments? I have 65 pounds to go!
  14. I went in for my 2 month check up. I lost 33 pounds from a surgery weight of 256. They hope that by my 6 month appointment I will be down to 190. I said, well let’s talk about my goal weight. They said 190 is where the surgery (bypass) will take me and from there out I will need to vigorously exercise to get down to 160 (I’m 5’6”/female). I was shocked. I can’t commit to vigorous exercise for the rest of my life. I’m walking about 3-3.5 hours a week. Isn’t that good enough?
  15. I am curious as to what it was like to loose weight after pregnancy?? I had my gastric sleeve surgery June 2020 and I am currently planning on trying to get pregnant around November-December...My only concern is what is it like to loose the weight all over again after giving birth????

Has anyone gained weight post op duodenal switch? I hear it's near impossible and you have to try very hard to gain weight after surgery.
  17. How are your partner's eating habits? Do your partner's eating habits inspire you to improve, or do they enable you to make bad choices? What role do your partner's eating habits play in your process? If you don't have a partner, use your family or roommate. What challenges have you faced with your partner where food is concerned?

  19. Hi so in the first week after surgery I lost 6 kg, but then in week 2 I lost about 0.5kg and in week 3 barely 0.5 kg. Starting week 4 and feel a little upset because so hear about how people literally shed weight first few weeks. Why is this happening so slow?
  20. Can somebody enlighten me on "weight stalls" should I feel discouraged 😞 will the weight eventually start to leave again? How long does the stall usually sticks around? I had my sleeve Feb 2nd 2021 and here we are at Mar 10th and I lost 25lbs which I'm totally excited about of course, other people I know lost well over 30, 40lbs in their 1st month, I'm just a little ughhh at things now
  21. I’m scheduled for a gastric sleeve in a few weeks because I’ve been heavy all my life and can’t lose weight any other way. I found some of my old doctors notes last night and noticed that I started the year 2016 at 190lbs and ended at 250lbs... that was also the year I was in an abusive relationship. The only weight I’ve gained since then is 20lbs of “and then some” weight from failed diets. I had never noticed before that most of my weight gain occurred during that period of my life. During that year I knew I was gaining a little weight but didn’t think it was that much and never thought I used food to cope or anything but I obviously did. I don’t know if it’s a good thing or a bad thing. On one hand it may be easier for me to keep the weight off as long as I don’t fall into any more toxic relationships. On the other hand the fact that I didn’t notice that those were related before now may be problematic when other stressful things happen in my life. Anyone else have a similar situation where your weight gain happened in a short period of time because of a stressful life circumstance? Did surgery help you if so?

  23. Had gastric sleeve surgery 11-29-2016. Went from 398 lb, down to 210. I'm currently 250 and it was what I called "covid" pounds because of staying home and eating small meals but too frequently during the day. Has anyone else had these weight gain issues and how did you address it?
  24. She is not overweight and attractive. People have told me before Man, What is she doing with you? I would answer...Well I haven't always looked like this. She even held back sex as punishment...to me I guess not her LOL. But looking at my post surgery pics who would want to be intimate with that big tub of goo? You really don't quite understand how fat you are pre surgery.Honestly I had a hard time looking at myself in the mirror, did any of you experience this? I saw on a report from my doctor the words Morbidly Obese. That was the day I started thinking about this procedure and found Gastric Sleeve. I had a lap band about 15 years ago that was also taken out. If you have one I hope it works for you but it was jus not for me. Anyways I am hoping for a new life for my last years on this earth...better years! You dont see alot of old real fat guys walking around! What is your story?
  25. I am 16 months post-VSG and not quite to my goal (but surpassed my medical team's goal). I do eat protein first and get 90+ oz of water in a day, but I find that I am grazing more often and not eating on-plan sometimes. I know the "go back to basics" and the typical bariatric responses to keep going on my weight loss, but I'm wondering if anyone has thoughts/experiences/etc. specifically about Weight Watchers (WW+) post-VSG? Good, bad, opinions?
