@kajameetsworld22 My belly was swollen for a good 2.5 weeks...you're actually lucky that it is a diuretic... May be tmi but I struggle in that department...if my life depended on it i'd probably die lol. I need to buy some benefiber or something, -
Pear shaped vs Apple shaped?
Kalimomof3 replied to Afrodite82's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am 6 months out as of 5/7/13 HW 234 SW 218 CW 158 GW 130. My skin is ok I have the excess lower stomach skin from the weightloss plus I have had 3 c-sections so I had a flap to begin with. My inner upper thigh like right below v-jay territory (tmi?) has some excess wrinkly(idk wrinkly is right term?)skin. My arms are ok just a little looser in the skin than I'd like but I am doing exercises to see if it tightens up. -
That's just what I wanted to hear. I thought that way... that I'd feel just like that. I love how you said "second chance at life". I want that, that feeling right their. I HATE feelings how I do about myself. I NEVER let my husband see me naked (sorry if that TMI). I have so much shame and I rarely bother to put on makeup or do my hair... what's the point. I know that's horrible to say. But it is how I feel. I never go out looking unclean or anything... but.... what's the point in putting hours into my appearance.... no one notices me. I used to be bulimic. I've been thin in my life. My teen years, I was hot. But since the birth of my daughter I've been nothing but heavy. Now I've had my son.... I'm just gone. I'm still inside this massive amount of flesh and fat... but no one sees me, not really. Guys don't notice me when I walk by, not if I spend 10 minutes or 10 hours on my looks. Not that I want guys... I love my spouse. It just would be nice not to feel like I don't exist sometimes. UGHH! I just can't wait for this surgury. I'll do whatever it takes to get it and I will be so good. I just need that little bit of help. To protect me from myself, and falling back into depending on food for everything. Pray for me! Thank you for being so inspiring.

June RNY buddies?
Little Kansas Kitty replied to Ppdunn22192's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
You’re doing awesome @Hal711! I wish I could take that many ounces in. I’ll focus on more tomorrow. Also, sorry for the TMI but I tooted a little this afternoon. Felt great to get rid of some of the bloating. Haha. -
I finished all the paperwork, did the 6 month supervised diet, scheduled the surgery date (May 8) and now I wait for insurance to approve!! I have CoventryCares (Medicaid) in Pennsylvania and I've heard they take just a few days to approve. I am so very excited! After losing my job, I was in a position to qualify for Medicaid. This surgery is truly the silver lining I need. Not only will I be healthier, I will be visibly healthier and be able to present a professional appearance in the job market (right? That's how this works, right?). Anyway, my surgeon is Dr. Neale in Plains, PA (near Scranton/Wilkes-Barre). He seems very competent and has done over 125 surgeries with less than 1% complication rate (he was very honest about it). I am struggling with "food funerals" and the 2 week liquid diet really worries me. I did a trial run for three days, and it didn't seem too terrible. Plus following a liquid diet when I didn't need to made it much more difficult than when it's doctor ordered...I hope. I'm less worried about the surgery than about the possibility of loose skin. With really big thighs and a mom-of-2 belly flap, I hate that my thighs will probably have that icky loose skin that can't be covered by a one-piece bathing suit and I'll have to tuck in my belly like it's a dang dress-shirt. Never mind that, I know I'll have to roll up my boobs like a pair of socks before tucking them in my bra because those girls will be losing mass, too. TMI? Sorry. Fingers crossed the insurance company will approve it! All vanity aside, I'm really looking forward to being healthier.

Can your Liver really shrink in just 3 days. It just sounds so crazy to me. If you done 3 days how was weight loss? Its interesting that different doctors require so many different things. Also i noticed this diet makes me poop alot **tmi** sorry. Is anyone having that issue?? Sent from my LGMP260 using BariatricPal mobile app

There are a couple of possibilities. It could be that you are being too restrictive with your calories. In that case, your body is in starvation mode. It will hold on to everything and cause your weight loss to stall. The other could be that after coming off of the liquid phase of the post-op diet, that you are losing weight, but you are also displacing what was basically an empty colon (TMI?) with solid waste. In that case, you are losing weight, but the adding of solid waste to your colon makes the scale stay the same. Start measuring yourself. That is a better way to tell if you are losing than just relying on the scale's numbers. Good luck to all of you!

Gallbladder First, Sleeve Next
Shay27 replied to Meganator's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my gallbladder removed about 10 months before getting sleeved. I gained about 38 lbs in those months and the weight gain didn’t seem to be slowing down so WLS was a must at this point. Comparing the two, I feel like I had less pain with the WLS. I actually asked my mom if she was sure they even did anything! 1. I didn’t need any painkillers after WLS, but I took them for about a week after gallbladder removal. 2. I’m typically a stomach sleeper and was also able to go back to sleeping on my stomach faster after the sleeve. 3. i only needed to sleep on a recliner for 2 days after WLS, but slept in a recliner for about 10 days after gallbladder removal. 4. Moving around was also easier for me after the sleeve, mainly because I felt like I couldn’t stand up straight after the gallbladder removal. 5. I was sleepier after the sleeve and generally had less energy the first week. 6. I had a bowel movement faster after WLS and going to the bathroom was easier in general. 7. TMI but I had sex sooner after WLS than I did after gallbladder removal. 8. Oh, my surgeon used my main gallbladder removal incision (the top one) so I only had 2 new tiny incisions for a total of 3 incisions for WLS. He felt like it was unnecessary for me to have more scars than I should so maybe that’s an individual thing that differs from surgeon to surgeon so I’d ask if that was possible. I only have the 3 WLS incisions visible and the gallbladder ones were so tiny they disappeared (you can only see them if you know where to look). So all in all I’d say my recovery from the sleeve was easier than the gallbladder removal, but of course that’s just me. I’m sure other people have it the other way around. Either way, you can do it! For me, the hardest step was actually deciding and committing to the WLS. Don’t worry, you got this!! Please feel free to message me if you feel like you have more questions or if I missed anything. -
Looking for friends, just starting my journey!

Welcome to the bariatric world! I think everyone has a sagging skin issue. I didn't have a lot with my arms, neck and face thankfully but I do have an apron now and my boobs sag more then they did before surgery (tmi?), and while I am tickled my thighs no longer touch when I walk, if I walk fast they slap. I plan on having a mommy makeover surgery to fix the things I don't like. They next time I see my doctor I'll be talking to his plastic surgeon about fixing the issues. I had surgery 6/7/22 and I've lost 122lbs. Even with the sagging skin I'm down from a 26/28 to a size 14 that is starting to get loose. I have such a better quality of life. I would not change one day post op. Even if I never got a mommy makeover. I think the majority of my brothers and sisters in the bariatric world would agree that they are happier post op sagging skin and all. You'll do great! We are here to support you! -
Hey all, Not to sound nasty or TMI, but I have a serious question and wonder if you guys can help. I don't seem to be going to the bathroom enough... I'm not constipated per say, but it seems to me that it would be a lot healthier if I went more often. Before surgery, I didn't go to the bathroom terribly often.. maybe once a day or every other day... but now it's seemed to stretch out even more. I try to eat more Fiber, but I'm wondering if there are any supplements or anything else that would be recommended. I'm losing steadily, and I'm wondering if my digestive tract was functioning better if this would be a boost to my weight loss and over all health. Any suggestions or thoughts would be much appreciated! :smile2:

I am ten days post op and still have some discomfort in my shoulder. It actually comes and goes now. I have less discomfort after walking. The gas-x strips really didn't help me. I kept taking them, but I noticed after walking maybe 5 to 10 minutes, I would start releasing the gas (TMI I know). That would bring immediate relief. I hope you feel better soon.

Just have to say that everyone here is great. No matter what you choose to do or not to do, no matter what your story is or what your struggles are, nothing is TMI here. Every one here is great. No one judges anyone. I'm so glad I stumbled across this. everyone offers their support and recommendations.

So I'm down about 47 pounds (stalling now but think its because I have my period). I was sleeved 4-24-12 so I'm almost a month So nsv's. Maybe tmi but I have a much easier time cleaning myself in the bathroom... If you know what I mean. My "hump" in the middle of my back is disappearing. I can easily put on shoes. I can walk without getting out I breath Normally after a family get together I woul only be able to help with the clean up for so long until my back was killing me but today I was able to really help! And I was able to drink and eat some normal food (very small portions) so I didn't feel Left out or look strange... No one here today saw anything strange... Which is good because I'm not ready to tell them. My stomach doesn't touch the steering wheel My shorts that were always too tight are now too loose!

The last sentence was TMI, but do keep us posted about the cortisol test and why you are taking it. I hear stress can increase cortisol. If your cortisol is too high, you might want to stay away from the political threads... even being a sideline observer raises my blood pressure so I had to unsubscribe to those threads.

Curious to hear people's stories of gastric bypass....
MichelleTN replied to RebeccaAR's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Had surgery on Tuesday. I was nervous but everything went fine. The worst part was the gas. I was never so happy to fart in my life. TMI I know. :-) that was the only time I hit the pain pump was with the gas pains. Finally the next day I walked the halls about 5 times vs the two after surgery and got that stuff to moving out. Went home around 5 that day & slept all night. Felt 100% better when I woke up. Today was my full liquid day which includes cream soup, tasted so good. However I'm so scared to overeat right now. All in all I've had a good recovery so far. -
Semi-Embarrassing Question For The Ladies... (Sex-Related)
MrsFlipFlops replied to Angelyco's topic in The Gals' Room
froggi- I totally know how you feel. It's getting better now a days... but I count it as a workout too. I'm 330, 5'7" and I can straddle my hubby. He's pretty skinny around the waist though. Actually, had a NSV the other day... hope this isn't tmi- but there's not as much fat in the nether-regions now- actually "scored" without my hubby having to work his fingers! That's NEVER happened for me. -
Howdy friends I’m 11 days out of sleeve surgery and ever since I left the hospital I have diarrhea, sorry TMI but need help. My doctor said it’s normal but I got like 3-4 times a day and never solid. Has this happened to anyone and please tell me it gets better. Thanks Mark

Anyone having surgery in May
loveslavender replied to Cupcake's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello Everyone, I had my gastric sleeve done on May 7th. I too also cleaned the house good, gave the dog a bath etc. With the Lord watching over me I did great with a few bumps. I bought premier liquid shakes because they were already made and bought them at Costco you can also get the powder form in a HUGE bag for 40.00. I bought sugar free chocolate pudding, Mott's green apple applesauce. Campbell's has an awesome butternut squash soup. I loved Swanson's chicken broth I went to stage 2 a day after surgery because I didn't do well on the 1st phase. I have protein drink for breakfast, instant cream of wheat alternating apple sauce, pudding and soup for lunch and dinner I'm lucky to do 2 1/4 tsp. I use the pudding to take meds it slides down easier. The one thing I miss the most is drinking as much fluid as you want at one time. For further down the road has anyone tried making ice cream out of protein shakes. This might be a TMI but baby wipes for cleaning your bum is a blessing. Get the flushable ones. God Bless Kelly -
Yup, I know exactly what you mean. Sex was difficult for me because whenever I'd get on top, within a couple minutes my knees would be killing me (I guess the pressure of my weight combined with having sore knees already from hailing around so much weight during the day) I also am happier being sexual because I have less smelly crevices(I know, TMI!) but while I obviously don't always smell like a rose, I find that my genitals, arm pits and my body in general just doesn't get as stinky as they used to. My feet also smell better. I think I'm not sweating as much because it's easier to move around.

august 12th 2011 lap band surgery & freaking out already!
changing4me posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
OK so here it is the night before (well early morning of..) my pre op testing!! to be 100% honest, I am a Nervous wreck!! I have literally made myself sick in the last 48 hours. I could not figure out why all of sudden my stomach is nauseous and I had diarrhea..(sorry for the tmi)...but I just figured out..its my NERVES!! I am a nervous wreck and didn't even realize it. I just got off the phone with my best friend who had to remind me to breath bc I was beginning to have what I THINK is an anxiety attack! I know I have made the right decision to get banded, after a lot of time and research, but now as I lay in bed the night before Pre Op testing,I am having second thoughts !I know deep down its the best decision but right now Its not so clear!! I was always a "strong" person,so right now I am surprised at how much In freaking out on the inside! I know a lot of people start feeling like this a few days before surgery, but I still have 10 whole days! Im not scheduled until August 12th. is this too soon for me to be freaking out? has anyone else experienced these feelings this far away from surgery day?? my stomach is bubbling,I feel like I have a lump in my throat, my chest is heavy and overall I think I might just sh*t my pants before surgery day arrives!! LOL MY NERVES are SHOT!!! I only told a handful of people about my surgery plans,so I think the fact that there are ppl close to me whose shoulder Im used to leaning on when I need support, that dont even have a clue as to what Im in the process of doing is also playing a role in my Pre surgery Jitters.(they dont know bc I dont think they'd be as supportive as I'd need them to be) So pretty Much this site is my NUMBER 1 person (people) to turn to! SO I NEED ALL OF YOUR HELP!! PLEASE tell me about your pre op jitters stories. I would like to hear from any and everyone. any advice, tips, stories etc are greatly appreciated!! Also I would REALLY LOVE to befriend other August banders..ESPECIALLY those of you with the same surgery day of August 12th!! Also anyone else who is pre or post op that would like to be band buddies I would love that too! I need as much support as possible!! -
Oh my goodness my breath has been horrible too and when I asked the nutritionist she looked at me like I was crazy. Update: I did poop it was more like (TMI) mud. so hopefully there just isn't much in there to come out.

3 Weeks Post Op, Horrible Constipation
tokiesgirl6 replied to daisychains7's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had the same problem, ended up in the ER. What helped me was colace and suppositories. (Sorry for the TMI). Also lots of fluids and a bit of daily fiber. -

How Painful Was The Surgery?
lunabella007 replied to AdeptDreamer's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It wasn't too bad! I was surprised! The day of surgery, after I woke up, I got up and walked around 4 hours after getting operating on. It was great, because it wasn't as bad as I expected. I had to hold my abdomen when I sat up or walked anywhere though. The shots they were giving me for pain the day of surgery didn't make me nauseated at first, but the next morning I couldn't tolerate them anymore, so they switched me to liquid vicodin which I went home on that afternoon. What you've heard is true, at least as far as I'm concerned, the gas pain and the not-being-able-to-fart thing was way worse than any incision or stomach pain I had. The incision I had closer to my left side hurt more than the others because when I'd sit on the toilet and reach for the toilet paper it would pull a little on the wound. Sorry if TMI. To be completely honest, I've had PMS that was worse! (Sorry TMI again! Just being honest!) Oh, and I could pretty much get back to my life as usual after 4-5 days or so. -
It's Allie's turn for plastics!
allielee replied to allielee's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Good Morning! mimi- they don't carry DD's with no underwire :tongue2: I heard to try Walmart. Heading there today for a bit. Shalee- I hope they end up being the same lol. I am too pretty scared about the thigh lift but I can't imagine it being worse than what I just went through and believe me I will be buying the pain pump for that too. I hear ya about the money but the thigh lift is only 6 grand, what 6 grand more when I spent almost 19 lol. You only live once. Tlam- Congrats on your TT. I agree it wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be.. could have been the pain pump though lol. My doc says I need to wear the compression garment for three weeks post surgery. I am sure I will continue to wear it even after. It really makes me feel safer lol. When it is off I am afraid my guts will spill out. I can hardly wait to not wear it at night though. Mine goes from bottom of breast to knees. I don't think that is the normal compression garment but since I had lipo of the thighs I had to have the whole thing. there is a cut out for the crotch. Ok so my hubby and I have been experimenting since a couple of days ago. No "intercourse" but jeez ok how do I say this politely.. the "O" was gahhhh amazing! The only thing is my tummy muscles started spasming like crazy. Thank God I was still wearing my garment. He can't keep his hands off of me lol. Ok sorry if that was TMI.. I just know some were wondering when intimacy can begin.. you just have to be creative. I know I'm in trouble tomorrow though. All he keeps saying is THURSDAY your drains come out.. with wiggly eyebrows. lol.. I'm excited and nervous. We will be extremely careful but I can hardly wait hahahaha.
