    A year ago, I couldn't have...

I got a hysterical mental picture of that, Babbs! ???? Now THAT'S a great NSV. A year ago I couldn't run more than 30 seconds without feeling I would have a heart attack. Now I can run five minutes without any pain.
  2. So I have attained my 1st NSV:) One of the things that happened when I hit my ultimate low and made the decision to get my lap band was when my wedding ring wouldn't fit:( I had to have my ring enlarged a few years back and at that time it was no big deal. But to have to do it again was really disheartening. I am 2 weeks post op and I have lost enough weight and water weight that my ring comfortably fits again. This is so motivational. It was hard when my husband asked why I wasn't wearing my band and I told him it was cutting off the circulation in my finger. I think this was the point when he realized how much I was struggling too. Oh well that is in the past. The ring fits now and I hope the next thing I have to do is get it made smaller.
  3. I've been doing the 5 day pouch test(finished yesterday) and haven't lost any weight, not even 1/2 a pound, granted it's TOM as well, so I'm not beating myself over it (last night, my last day i gave in to a glass of Rose and a piece of homemade wholemeal bread, the crusty bit dipped in aromatic olive oil ) So that wasn't a success for me, my own fault Yesterday afternoon however, we all went to the park, husband and 3 girls, and we had a blast! For the first time ever, I put my jogging bottoms on a sweatshirt, my trainers (sneakers) and felt really good about myself(I actually felt quite "cool" as opposed to fat, forty and frumpy) and I went on loads of "rides" with the girls. I've never done this before cause I always felt to old, fat, ugly . Yesterday I felt so young and carefree. My husband pointed out that I always used to just sit on a bench while they palyed. This is probably one of the best NSV in these five months since surgery. I am so happy (even though I cheated on my pouch test last night )
  4. This week I walked my dog down to the small public beach along the beautiful St. Croix river. Kids are back in school so it was a very peaceful morning down there. I sat down on a half buried log to enjoy the view. I was watching some fishing boats go by when I realized that I was hugging my knees to my chest. What? I was astounded that I just naturally did that without thinking about it and that it was comfortable. Six months ago I couldn't/wouldn't have done that. Hurrah for that NSV! I was tickled pink as they say.

    Not So Fabulous Nsv

Lol! Same here. The cold weather here is gone (70s right now) but I just HAD to buy a new coat because I am traveling overseas next week. It is the same brand and model than last years, but 2 sizes down AND it won't fit next winter! Like you said this losing weight thing sucks and is costly! Congrats on your intolerable NSV. lol

    First fill, and NSV!

I can so relate to the airplane story. If you fly Southwest the only other thrill will be when somebody takes the middle seat between you and somebody else.. WHY, because that means You guys look skinner than other people on the plane. That's a NSV....

  8. ISleevedIt

    Best NSV ever!

Yep, I agree that it's one of the best NSVs! I can't wait til I don't have to hold onto my leg to keep them crossed.
  9. Well, here's a new one for me. I was unable to donate platelets today because my blood pressure is too low. The woman at the Blood Center said this is the first time in 30 years that she's ever had to defer someone for LOW blood pressure. Considering that 2 years ago my blood pressure was continuing to rise despite the meds I was taking to lower it, I'll call it a victory even though I really wanted to donate today. I am coming back next week to try donating again, with strict instructions to booze it up the night before, eat a bunch of salty foods, don't exercise that morning, and guzzle two cups of coffee before my appointment. My, how my life has changed. ????

    First NSV!

Wuhuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu CONGRATULATIONS!!! It is always so exciting to see such hard "evidence" of one's successes especially when you have been working so hard!! And the scale can sometimes flipflop, but no one can dispute the CLOTHES. Nice work~~~~!!!!!!1 Out of curiosity, what is an NSV??

    Success In A Wall Shadow!

Thanks everyone... :biggrinjester: This was just a fun moment for me. Being this far out the NSV's are less and less so when I get one I just have to jump on it... LOL! Julie, that's funny you mention the booty thing. I was looking at mine today and noticed the surgeon took some out when he did my lipo. I suddenly felt a little worried like I hope he didn't take out too much!! That would be a tragedy!!
  15. Great pics and congrats on the NSV's!

    Lane Bryant/Torrid NSV

I think clothing NSV's are the best! You finally feel validated when you make it into a new section, be it ordinary plus size, or normal sizes or whatever. I remember how darn depressing it was to not be able to shop in any normal stores. I had the choice of one store or horrid discount department stores and that was it unless I wanted to go really upmarket, go into the city to shop and pay $300 for a pair of jeans. Formal or dressy occasions were a nightmare. It was awful.
  17. I forgot to post this the other day.. Went shopping with my younger step sister and was trying on clothing... The jeans that I had just bought there a month ago were a bit loose, so I scooped up the same ones in a lower size ...yep. Size 8. Hello. SINGLE DIGIT JEANS!!!!!!!!!! Already wearing smalls in most dresses and tops, but THIS was a big one!!! Could likely go to 6 when these last pounds come off around my waist... 4's after a tummy tuck....Hot damn! NSV on steroids. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Chicago Sleevers

I had my sleeve at Loyola University Medical Center almost a year ago 12/23/2013......went home on Christmas Day. My recovery has been textbook, my weight loss slow. So far I have gone from 235 to 170, which is more than I have ever or could have done on my own. My goal is 135, which was my healthiest adult weight, but I would feel good at 150. Since I am retired, I did not have to worry about getting back to work. From your picture, it looks like you have the advantage of youth. The hardest part about my journey was the pre-op waiting and waiting and waiting for the process to move along. If you have no complications, you may still feel kinda cruddy for the first couple of weeks. As the pounds fall off, you will feel better and better. You have many non-scale victories (NSVs) to look forward to. I wish you good luck and good health. PS, I am a little familiar with Mercy Hospital, such as it was in 1992. I supervised housekeepers for about a year until a foot injury caused me to find a sit down job. I remember there being a convent on the 14th floor, and I had been on the roof once at night to view the skyline. My territory was the basement levels with the offices and morgue, the lobby, the ER and clinics.
  19. Went to the waterpark with my daughter & Grandkids & had a Blast!! It felt great to actually feel confident in a swimsuit in public, not worry that I was the largest person there & everyone was staring at me....& best of all...to be able to do the water slides without worrying about the weight limit!! I LOVE my sleeve!! :-D

    Omg! What An Nsv!

It is what Deb said - non scale victory - and those will be more important to you than the scale ever will be. Some will be anticipated, others will come out of the blue. Some will make you laugh, and a few will be profound enough to make you cry. Here is to everyones NSV's. Past, present and future!

    Wow an NSV--Been awhile!

I love your story. That's a total NSV related to the S. They wanted to probably tell you that you are soo sesssi! But maybe it would have been unprofessional.
