I am guessing that because you were feeling really hungry that you might have ate too fast and/or too much. I see that even though the yogurt has 11 grams of sugar, there are 0 added sugars so the natural sugar was probably not an issue. I eat yougurt all the time with no issues, but one night I was chatting away to my daughter and not paying a lot of attention and realized very quickly that I ate too fast and it had to come back up for me to feel better. So just be mindful to be prepared and go slow, even if you're really hungry.

Pureed /blended stage
Sleevedvee replied to lucylu1313's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm on purée now and one of my favorite things right now is one scrambled egg white with two tablespoons of ricotta cheese, i put the ricotta on the skillet first so it melts a little bit and then pour the egg white over it and scramble it until it's cooked but still mush -- can do the same with a full egg i would assume, i just can't use yolks Also, i make chicken broth and take out the chicken, purée the chicken with some geek yogurt and a tiny bit of fat free mayo--- can do the same with tuna or eggs for an egg salad Other then that, yogurt, mozzarella sticks, cottage cheese HW: 221 SW: 209 CW: 198 Sleeved 2/13/18 -

Pre-op diet kvetching, tips and more
Apple203 posted a topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
What's your plan? How's it going? Got any tips? For me, its Day #1. I've been instructed to eat every 4 hours, 3 meals with 4-6 ounces lean protein and vegetables (or protein shake), one snack with nuts, and 3 fruits and/or yogurts. I'm going to make some chicken broth later today. 952 kcal, 76g carbs, 118g protein today. -
Congrats! Today is Day 6 post-op for me. I'm doing great. No/little pain, able to bend and squat, am walking every day. I eat protein shakes, liquidy yogurt, broths. I'm getting in about 74g protein, 20-25g carbs, and around 400-450 cals per day. I'll have 1 sf jello, and 2 servings of broth, sometimes 4oz of V8 with lime and celery salt. Pho broth sounds delish! I'm doing fine on my liquids...but I'm very ready to have purees! I have no problems swallowing--even big swallows. I see the doc on Thursday, but I bet I have to continue until Tuesday a week before I get to progress to purees.

5 days post op rny & I think I already screwed up. My husband and I came to the local store just to get a few items, and I suddenly felt hungry, along w/ some lightheadedness, a bit of a weird cold sweat and tiredness (is the random dizziness normal?). My stomach growled, and my airhead brain forgot to pack some pudding or something else in case I got hungry. So feeling kind of shitty, I desperately made it to the yogurt isle and grabbed one of those Oiko yogurts (first time having dairy since surgery. I was told to have some non fat yogurt at this phase, so I thought this would be ok). I thought it seemed safe for me to take according to the nutrition facts. It took care of the growls, but it did not settle nicely. I’m currently experiencing bubble guts, and feel like I need to be near the restroom. Is this what dumping is? I’ve had my required protein and water so far & the yogi seemed ok to take. I’ll show the pic of the yogurt in the comments. Update: Omg it got 5x worse after I wrote the above paragraph. I was in horrible pain a while ago; abdominal diarrhea-like cramping and nausea. It finally eased down a bit after like an hour and a half. What the hell was that?? Could it be too much carbs? Am I lactose intolerant suddenly? [emoji85]

Not one issue. I’m less than 3 weeks out. No pain. Never vomited. I can drink normally now. I’ve eaten chicken, pork, ground beef, steak, and green beans. No problems at all. I’m hungry now every 3-4 hours. Eat almost a whole egg, or yogurt , tiny 2 Oz serving of protein and 6 green beans and I’m good for 3+ hours. I’m down 20lbs:)

Cheating / random life questions

OK its going to depend totally on your plan, but in full liquids I was allowed to have yogurt and thinned out cream of wheat. Did you receive a booklet or any literature about the diet? -
You know the difference between someone just about the start pre-op and someone in the middle? I am still excited!!! Tonight is the final of my "last meals": a big 'ole prime strip steak, a sweet potato and a martini. My pre-op diet is easy compared to others (except for @ahnormandeau!!): 3 meals with 4 oz. lean protein & veges, 1 snack with nuts and veges, and up to 3 fruits and/or yogurts. So... pretty easy, right? I saw my surgeon's PA for my pre-op consult, and evidently my liver is on the smallish size (which is remarkable considering my wine consumption!)

Almonds, cheese, homemade cheese crisps or parm crisps (easy recipe, just google it). You can do a homemade guacamole dip, homemade yogurt/spinach dip or homemade hummus to dip the cheese crisps in...yum! Also, keep cut up fresh veggies on hand such as baby carrots, snap peas, red peppers, cucumbers...great by themselves or in dips. Nice, fresh, crunchy snacks that are good for you if you are already caught up on your protein for the day. The cheese crisps, of course, have some protein. Also, greek, lower carb-low sugar yogurt. Plain yogurt with stevia, throw in some almonds or a few blueberries..delicious! I second the deviled eggs. Some good suggestions from others here.

I tried a few flavors and didn’t like the texture or the after taste. But the Yasso frozen Greek yogurt is awesome. I have one occasionally and it’s the closest thing I’ve found to real ice cream plus it’s got protein. HW: 282.2 lbs SW: 256.4 lbs CW: 196.6

My favorite go to is Greek yogurt mixed with powdered peanut butter and protein powder (I prefer chocolate but good with vanilla or banana flavour). I also like to sometimes add cinnamon. Then eat as a pudding or a dip for fruit like apples. Yum!! Sent from my SM-G900W8 using BariatricPal mobile app

First time buying this. Anyone else trying or tried it? It appears to be same amount of carbs and Protein as regular yogurt... So it seems harmless

I doubt you're actually hungry but suffering from head hunger. My surgery was the 15th and all I've been able to think about is eating a sandwich (stupid Subway commercials). My surgeon said I could eat yogurt, which I've enjoyed because it's not too sweet, but having strained soup has saved me. Broccoli cheese and tomato basil. I wanted the salt and broth wasn't doing it. Also, once I started feeling better more of the foods I could eat started sounding and tasting better. Good luck and it will just be a few more days before you get to pureed food!

This is CRAZY!!! I have a protein shake with 30 grams protein and 1cup milk (unjury chocolate). Then I have an oikos yogurt. Then Protein shake (I go with vanilla this time) then oikos yougurt. Then Protein shake. I do have the unjury chicken soup protein powder, but I haven't used that yet. Sent from my SM-N950U using BariatricPal mobile app

Yogurt soup sounds good! I'm going to have to look for walden farms products here. I remember seeing them back in MD. Good for you on the poopin keep up with the benefiber you've started. I had no problems at all, but started soft foods this week and now - wham - issues. Doing benefiber today but may have to pick up something else tomorrow (or tonight!) to get things moving. -
I had my sleeve done on 2/14 and I’m supposed to be eating yogurt and protein drinks only until Wednesday then I can go to puréed foods. Yeah no...I’ve been cheating so bad and I mean things I should not be eating. Today I ate a 3 little Reece’s Eggs and 3 little KitKats and French fries from McDonald’s! I’ve been eating crackers everyday. What am I doing? I don’t even know how my poor stomach is handling what I’m doing to it...I don’t know what to do? I’m losing the head hunger battle already? Will I ever be successful? Should I go to therapy? I feel like I see food everywhere around me....it’s on tv and I feel like my family is always eating! I feel like if I was back at work I could do better because I’m busy and at home I’m just lazy...sitting around watching tv or playing on my phone. I feel depressed and not motivated to do anything. I should be cleaning or doing school work. I just suck!

One year post op, hungry all the time!
Guest replied to Ghada's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am so glad I came across this. It was a year on January 10th, and I cannot believe how hungry I get. It doesn't matter what I eat, I am easily full (especially if meat or chicken) and then an hour later I am starving. I know it is not acid/gas any of those things, hunger pangs. I will eat a yogurt, or some form of protein or veggies and protein, and still an hour or an hour and a half hungry. I hated this feeling as well. Today it has been a hard day dealing with this. -
Any March 2018 Sleevers?
FloridaGal1976 replied to NelliSleeve's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
That's all your having? Just 3 shakes and 2 yogurts? That doesn't sound like it's enough. I get 5 shakes, at 3 hour intervals. I was eating SF jello (I've never liked jello) but I'm bored with it. I've also been relying on broth. Probably more than I should but it's better than cheating with food. I have 2 bouillon cubes a day (only supposed to have 1, as needed). Well damn it I need it every day! I can also have SF popsicles (gross). Just keep your eyes on the prize! I'm on day 9. Over halfway there. The finish line is on sight!!! February Surgery Buddies!
FluffyChix replied to Lyds85's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hugs and prayers to all who've had surgery already. I pray you are feeling better each day and able to accomplish post-surg goals with ease!! To all who are still yet to come in February! Remember the liquid diet from hell is only temporary and we can endure anything for 2 weeks! I can attest that once you're on the other side, the liquid protein phase is a cinch to undertake. No hunger, easy satiety with the liquids, no feeling of deprivation or food angst! It's hard to imagine such a severe about face once post-surgery but it's true!! I'm doing great. It's now 4 days post and I'm up walking, drinking normally, yesterday got in 98oz of liquids including proteins. This morning had thinned down yogurt for brekky and did great. Now having protein iced tea and loving it. So all is well. Have already walked 2 times today and will do another stint here after lunch. Naps are my friend! Oh how I love mah naps! Cheers everyone!! -
February Surgery Buddies!
JazmaniaRNY replied to Lyds85's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks... they were working fine. Just yesterday I could not swallow it. And my doctor says anything bigger than a dime size is to big to swallow so I made sure to get tiny pills. It just freaked me out because it wouldn’t go down almost like I had something blocking it and came right back up. Hurt so bad. I will try and crush it to go with my yogurt. -

Saturday 2.24.18 Update (4 days post-surgery) 224.2lbs I feel really great! The only pain meds I'm taking are the 30day prescription for gabapentin which heals the nerves, and liquid sugar free tylenol. Fluids go down so easily! I'm able to take in 8oz per hour without issues (that includes protein drinks). I'm still enjoying the same protein drinks as pre-surgery without a sweet aversion, but I think it's because I like to mix it up with different liquids to extend it? Dunno! Last night I had a touch of fever, 99.2 (not a real fever at all), but I think it was enough to set off some nausea. So I just rested in my recliner with a cold cloth to my throat and things got better quickly! I woke up this morning and took my meds and pain is great and no nausea or fever! So I dodged a bullet there! Also, taking my pills hasn't been an issue either, they go down quietly and know to stay down! LOL! I'm already cooking for Mr. F. and am having no issues with yearnings or cravings! I made him a bacon egg cheese low carb breakfast taco this morning and I was like, "Meh! It looks dynamo, but I'm looking forward to my yogurt soup! Very surreal! I'm getting my walking in as planned, and it's just fine. I'm poopin' just fine thanks to MOM. The GasX strips are golden! I love them and they really work. I'm going to be adding my vitamins today. Hope that doesn't tip the balance of fine! So far, "no regerts"! This morning I'm having my first thinned down Greek yogurt, aka yogurt soup! It's divine! Here's the recipe: Blueberry Yogurt Serves 1 - 2 (about 1/2 cup volume) 3oz (85g) Greek fat free plain yogurt (HEB) 1floz (28g) Premier Protein vanilla RTD 1floz (28g) Walden Farms blueberry syrup 1tsp (1.75g) benefiber 3 drops liquid vanilla stevia Mix it all together and enjoy!
