  1. Hi! I'm glad there's someone around who will be so close to the same surgery date! :) I'm as prepared as I can be, I think. I've been making the diet changes as much as possible and I meet with my surgeon again next week so he can look at my labs and everything. It feels like I don't have much time to workout since I'm a college student, but I think I get quite a bit of walking time in, haha! I'm psyched to get to January to start my new life! :)

  2. I can't figure it out either. For me they also responded very fast. Within one week I had my denial letter. Trying to get a clear explanation is like trying to break into a bank. UHC has themselves well protected. I cannot speak to anyone who can just review and discuss my coverage with me directly. Instead the appeal process is very secretive and long. It will take at least a month. If that appeal comes back with the denial I'm gonna go crazy. I know this must be a mistake. Your approval also proves that. But I cannot talk to anyone who is a decision maker at UHC. Ugh.

I will be interested in how things proceed for you. I'm sure you will do great!

  3. Hi Donna, thank you for asking...everything went very good for me. I was the first of three surgeries that day, and all of us had a great experience and were treated extremely well. I read about your sister, and there are no words to express how sad I feel for all of you...I will keep her in my prayers. What a horrible experience for your family. There are no excuses for the treatment she received then or now.

  4. Wannalise - I responded to your post on my thread (Little Miss Sunshine has left the building...) but wanted to make sure to personally thank you. I thought about your response all day Sunday and vowed to do something about it today at work. I actually grabbed my stuff, ate in the teacher's lounge and was social. It was nice not to feel so isolated. Best part of all, nobody commented on what I was eating/drinking. I think my ups and downs last week were extreme and what I was doing didn't help at all. Thank you from the bottom of my heart - today was a much better day:) Hope you are well! VV2010

  5. Hi Gloria, How's your week been? Me, just grateful I made it thru Friday!!! Had a rough week, but glad its over. I'm anxious to "get the show on the road" and get my surgery done

  7. Hey Jules!! How you doing girl... week 3 and its going well.. 31 lbs down and totally unbelievable. still not able to get all of the protein in yet.. I just keep trying.. Went back to work this week and trying to take it easy after work. Big girl naps help alot. Hope all is well with you and the family. Take care

  8. Hello! As THE day gets closer I'm more and more excited and nervous at the same time. I'm picking up my passport/cash/cashier's check tomorrow, I've bought all my groceries, for the first 3 weeks post-surgery and informed my doctor about my decision. She said good luck but then also said, "We have a surgeon here that does bypass and band surgery...just an FYI." It took all I could say NOT to shout out (on the email) "Are you kidding me?" :) I'm going to play it safe and leave a couple days of lesson plans in case I want/need to stay home the Monday/Tuesday after spring break/my surgery occurs. Hope all is well with your wonderful family, Vicky.

  9. just wanted to check in and see how your progress is going? i am 10 days out and finally starting to feel better, had a real tough week. Still have trouble getting my protein, i am just doing the best i can do.

let me know how you are progressing. Sue

  10. Oh your name and avatar just made my day. My puggle Lucy died a week ago today and I was never a pug fan before her, but now those bulging eyes melt my heart! I miss my snorting little friend.

  11. haha...yeah, I quit smoking before the surgery...and then again a few weeks after. I don't mind driving either, if you're not as familiar with the area. Should be fun!

  12. Hi,

As I look over profiles, I relate a lot to your story. Your starting BMI is similar to where I am now and I am heading to Dr. Aceves in less than a week. Would you mind messaging me? I need some reassurance and an idea of how this will feel emotionally. I'm nervous.

  13. Hi Barbara - I had not heard of blood clots in the arm. I had a lot of trouble with IV's. And here it is 5 weeks out and I have pain in my upper arm for no apparent reason. Feels like a bruise but there is no bruise. I didn't notice it until the last couple weeks. Do you think this is a sign of a problem. I don't remember hitting my arm on anything.

  14. Hey there! You got a pic up! YAY! I have only pictured you as a dancing doll =) I had gone up and down with this decision - especially this past week, but now I made my decision and am not backing down. My boss, who is an avid traininer, has been trying to sway me from getting it done, but she doesn't know all that I had gone through this past 5 years. I am looking forward to this surgery now, and am trying my best to prepare my head for it. Your words are kinda and encouraging. Thank you so so much! I am so glad that you are doing good!!

  15. hey phatman... thanks for checking in! i often forget to check this page, so i apologize for the delay (same to mom of 4). i am going pretty well. my only bummer at the moment is that i am in a stall already. have been stuck at 187-188 for a couple of weeks. not sure what i can/should do to get a jump start... i think i just need to let my body (and mind) adjust. am down one pants size so far, which is good. when is your sleeve, and how are you? i've been really busy with work, so it's been hard to get back on here... but i'll be check in more, now that things have slowed down. :)

  16. Hey Barb, I so needed to hear you say that to me, because I have been debating this surgery this past week. I will be in Colorado from the 10th to the 29th of April. I am so excited!

  17. I am on day three now and am feeling way better, headaches are minimal and am not really hungry,, i just keep thinking of the big picture and the end result. Hang in there you can do it. good luck :)

  18. i lost 32 pounds in 2 and a half weeks!

  19. Sitting here in the Atlanta, GA airport, waiting for my flight. Even met up with my Honey here, he is on his way to Florida too. Get to see him for a whole week when I arrive tonight!

  20. great weight loss week one now stalled for ten days :(

  21. Been stalled for almost a month now. Very depressing. Starting to wonder if this is it. My longest stall before now was three weeks. :(

  22. hey how are you doing?? I have a ? I had surgery the same day you did. have you experienced a stall yet? I am so frusterated I have not lost 1 pound in almost two weeks. I dont know what to do.

  23. I go for pre-op testing on July 20, Wednesday. The results will be sent to the doctor. Then they will call me and schedule the surgery. I was told by one of the nurses surgery is usually a week later. I am hoping for August 8th due to my work schedule. How is your pre-op dieting going? Mine is very poor.

  24. Hey Paul! It was nice to get to say hi to you at this week's meeting, I had to rush out afterwards to the GVSU campus in Allendale. Hopefully I will get to talk to you more next time!

  25. Thanks for the good luck - so excited, hoping to know something this week!!
