This is going to sound so silly but I can't wait to go to my mammogram appointment next week to see how the gown fits. Last time I was there...six months ago, I gave in and finally had to wear two gowns..front to back and back to front in order to cover up sufficiently. I don't expect that this time now that I'm down more than 50 lbs. Also...am flying in a couple of weeks and the first thing I want to do is buckle the belt without a friggin' extension. Oh how I hate having to ask for one. And...the next thing I want to do is put the arm down without it scootching back up because my hips are in the way.

A new NSV today. My gut has shrunk enough that I was able to slide my car seat forward an inch.

Yes, you can have an NSV before surgery. NSV stands for non scale victory, so it is anything you can celebrate that doesn't have to do with the numbers on the scale.

Can you have NSVs before surgery? -
We love to see before and afters, but i am bow wanting to hear about NSV's. we get so focused on the scales we lose sight of other victories. So tell me, what was you best NSV? I'll go first. I am pre-op but have 2 NSV's with my diet now 1. I can put my socks on without grunting 2. My engagement ring fits again! Your turn.... ????

nice :-) I had an unexpected NSV yesterday. My grandson was playing on the kitchen floor and he managed to bunch up the rug in front of the sink. I was at the stove, didn't realize there was a hazard behind me, and backed up to get to the sink. I *almost* went down but was able to catch myself with the counter midway to the floor. My husband was impressed :-) I have hurt myself several times by slipping and not being able to stop myself from falling. Woo hoo!

Your NSV made me giggle! It will be intersting to see how poeple will act around me once things get started. Now it is just a waiting game until we move to Florida. It just cannot come fast enough. -

Unfortunately, yes. Its as if I am not invisible anymore. More people look and smile more. Whereas before I felt as if I was kind of ignored. Now part of that probably has to do with the fact that I have a different attitude but still. One thing that irritates me is that a man almost always holds a door open for me now. I know its a nice gesture and it is not his fault men didn't do that before but its a reminder of where I came from and there sooo is a world of beautiful overweight people that out there that deserve that kindness too. The clothes part has had a strange twist I didn't see coming. I gravitate back to the plus size section every time. I am (or was) comfortable there. But its not where I belong anymore. Yet when I go to the regular sizes I feel like I don't belong there either. Its a work in progress. Funny NSV (non scale victory): that I had to adjust the seat in the car because since my bum shrunk, I was sitting lower in the seat. Losts of little things you never thought could be affected that are. Its very fun. Size wise I am a comfortable 14 with a few 12s. My personal goal is to be comfortable in a size 10. I think its doable. -
FEBRUARY SLEEVERS 2013....how you doing after you've been Sleeved

NSV for me today. My daughter had been at a camping trip over the weekend. When I went to pick her up, I was walking toward her from the car and she looked at me and said, "you're getting skinny mom!". I haven't heard those works ever : ) it was really nice. I was 221 pre-surgery. Day of surgery I was 200. I had surgery 2/25 and I am now 173.5. It feels really good. -
Ok so I haven't worn shorts since I was probably in grammar school and today for the 1st time in over 20 years I put shorts on and I didn't feel fat or gross.. Just a lil pasty white!!! Yay!!!

Hehe. My sleep study is tonight....

I had severe sleep apnea which they found during my sleep study. I needed a bipap machine and I did use it. I had it for after surgery which helped in recovery. That was 1/15 (my surgery) and since then I've lost 80lbs and was able to get off of it! Total NSV for me! -
I went off of my blood pressure meds this past week. I was shocked, because I'm only around 6 weeks out! I was feeling SO lethargic every day, so I called my doctor & the nurse told me that it could very well be the blood pressure meds. I checked my numbers, and sure enough.....it was low. She told me to stop taking the drug for a couple of days & see how I feel. Well, I feel much better! Granted, I was taking the lowest dose possible, but I'm still surprised that I could stop them after only a 17 pound loss. It feels great! Is this what they call a NSV? I also have a bad knee. I'm sure from too much weight over time. I've got other issues as well, and PRAY that some of it subsides as more weight comes off. I know that some won't resolve completely, but I have to imagine that it will be better without all the excess baggage My next plan of action is to start working with a physical therapist, who can put me on a program to strengthen what needs strengthening, to stretch what needs stretching; ALL without causing further damage to what's already injured and weak. OMG - I really messed myself up trying Curves about a year ago. That place is for people with ZERO skeletal/orthopedic issues!

FEBRUARY SLEEVERS 2013....how you doing after you've been Sleeved

Another big NSV today. I bought my third wardrobe since 1/31. I went from 52 inch jeans to 40 inch and 3XLT shirts to 1XLT. I'll probably be at 34 or 36 inch pants and LT shirts when I hit my goal. -
Yesterday I had to get an ultrasound and xray done of my abdomen. They gave me a hospital gown and told me change and wait in the waiting room. I looked at that gown and thought no way would it fit me! Well it did! And it covered me completely! There was a full length mirror in the bathroom and I looked so much smaller! I need to buy one for my home haha!

Going to Disney in July!!! So excited to be walking around and not feel worn out after a couple hours. I was so nervous about the Harry potter ride cause I have heard its a squeeze but yesterday I fit into a 14 in the dressing room. I was like what?!?!?! Watch out Harry potter I am probably going to ride u 100 times and scream hell yes every time the harness clicks! Some of my nsv have been furniture shopping at ikea and not being worried I was going to break the chairs, not feeling out of place when I go shopping with my skinny friends, and purchasing a pair of shorts for the first time in forever. I can't wait to run into an x or two in my small town!

saramichelle replied to shyanne's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yay! Get to report my first nsv! I've been wearing my size 18 jeans that I alwAys wear and they've been looking awful and falling off so I tried on a pair of size 14 jeans I had in my closet and thought there is no way but they fit! So so excited! Oh yeah and it's easier to put my shoes on! I don't breakout in a sweat when I do:) -
Great NSV!!!

After losing over 100 lbs, I've never been able to fit into anything from VS. You know what their secret is? It's that they don't carry a higher size than a 4. You'd think since I wear a 40D that I'd be able to find something, but the highest I've seen (in store, haven't checked online) is a 36. Even tho I lost all the way down to a size 8 on the bottom, I'm still a 40D on top. I look like a marshmallow being held up with 2 toothpicks! Congrats to you! Hopefully someday I'll have the same nsv! Marci

NSV- victorias secret

That's an amazing NSV!! -
It's been at least a decade since I have been able to wear a Victoria's Secret bra. This week I bought one in store and three online. I went from a 40G to a 36DDD. JUST BARELY fitting in the VS sizes but none the less I'm excited (they would be way to big if they hadn't shrunk a little along the way). Now lets hope they don't shrink too much more in the last leg of this journey
