I know this sounds like I am being really whiny but I cant help it. I really thought that I would be losing more weight than this. I was sleeved on 3/7 with a surgery weight of 233. I got down to 219 this past Friday. Today I am 222. I dont get it. I am hardly eating!! I dont know, maybe that is the reason? This is my routine-- I have a Chike shake for Breakfast. Soup for lunch-maybe a cup. It is all I can hold. A snack-pudding, yogurt, popcicle or something like that. And then dinner-soup and a few crackers. I stay under 500 calories everyday. I should be losing right?? I really try to drink Water or crystal lite as much as I can but I find it hard to drink water all day long. Its like I get going with my day and forget. Then when I remember I only take a few sips. Then off I go again. I dont know what is going on. I read stories of people here losing like a pound or two everyday. I am in my 3rd week and I have really only lost 10 pounds post surgery. WTF. I went through all of this and nothing is really happening. Emotionally I am losing it. I keep crying at the drop of a hat. I feel emotionally I am all over the place!! Any sound advice??

Wight is YO-YOing...
lakegirl88 replied to zeniada's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wish I had an answer. This is my biggist issue. I stay the same weight for ever. -
You are not a failure! The quoted success of the band is 60% of the weight you need to lose. If you need to lose 190 lbs, then anything more than 114 lbs is *beating the odds*-- you've done better than the average banded person already even if you never lose another pound! Still, I know that doesn't mean you don't want to lose that last bit. I think the above suggestions are exactly right. You might consider the 5-day pouch test (google it)-- I've seen some plateaued bandsters swear by it.

Anyone have implants pre op and lost the weight? I'm just curious how many sizes you lost and what you ended up with. I was around 150 when I got mine and and curious to know what I might end up with when I get into the 120s. It seemed that when I lost before, they just seemed to get bigger! I'm about a 36 F now at 170, ooops, 169!

Awesome! Rock your sleeve! I got on the WiiFit a week after surgery and it yelled at me. Said I made my goal BUT the deadline had already past so I'd need to set a new goal; tsk tsk on me. Then I got on it a week later and it told me I am losing weight too fast which is dangerous. Then I learned it asks other users in the household (namely the boyfriend) how my sleeping habits are ("Is she getting too much sleep? Too little sleep?"). The WiiFit is a backstabber! I won't let it take away from my successes Glad you're doing so well with it, though.

Haha! Flying Squirrel. Now THAT's funny! I'm so glad you mentioned making better food choices for your family. I have not yet had the surgery, but I'm hoping it will greatly effect the way I feed my kids and husband. Right now, they eat what I eat and if I crave something and eat it, they do too. Ugh. Congrats on your weight loss!!

What's the skinny????
Pinkygirl replied to shuckybucky's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The first 6 weeks is not about losing weight - its about healinggggggg. This is normal After you find your sweet spot then you will lose the weight and it might or might not take a couple fills. -
I jumped through hoops for 2 years in preparation of this surgery. Final step was loosing the required weight (pre-op diet). Of course I followed the diet. Nothing was going to get in my way at that point. Having said that, I did have a "last meal" Final meeting and weigh in was a Friday for a Monday surgery. Went out and had my last meal Saturday night.

Hey everyone! I'm currently 6.5 months, and lose at an average 10-12 lbs a month. Last month was rough losing only 5 lbs, but I know it was my fault, too many carbs and little exercise. Anyhow I went back to the basics, protein first and low carb. Well this week I've lost 6 lbs! I'm not complaining, but is that normal for a 6 month sleever? I was dropping 6lbs a week at months one and two. Maybe because I still a little ways to goal, and I'm considered a "bigger loser". My stats are: HW 328, SW 312, Current 222 lbs. I hope to be at 190 by my wedding in 2 months! Thanks in advance for your feedback! Sette

I will see tomorrow if he wants to change this 4cc band in to a newer model. Also if he will continue to see me as a patient. I hope so ! I been busting my butt trying to do all the right stuff. So far for me today,,, "IT PAYED OFF BIG TIME" I got my summer cloths out, and shorts were a 32 Now that's big. I went into different cloths that I kept, as I was losing weight the first time. I sure am glad I kept them. I am in a 22/24 and some gorgeous colors for the summer. Not to mention,,, I don't look to bad neither. Should be a nice summer, If this Dr. takes me on. I'm almost tempted to take a pair of Capri pants down with me, just in case he don't believe it. Shirley.

STALL ALREADY, IS THAT POSSIBLE?
mina replied to mina's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It is very comforting to hear that it is possible to not lose weight in the 2nd week. this is why i love this website, you have people that can share their experiences with you and tell you not to freak out . without the sleeve, i would have gotten discourage and blow my diet. yay sleeve! -
The stall arrived 3 weeks ago. I knew it'd come sometimes around the third month and it did at -25 kgs (or 55 lbs). I wasn't that happy, I wasn't sure what advice I should follow. And I basically didn't do much, apart from increasing my daily water. Today the scale was down 1 kg or 2.2 lbs, not much, but still. You just have to believe it will move again, because it will. And I can actually see amazing advantages coming from my stall: first of all my skin. It was going so fluffy I hated it but in the last three weeks it tightened and now it looks almost OK. People started noticing my weight loss. It's amazing how they didn't notice much while I was losing and now they keep asking me daily how much more I have lost (which is basically nothing!). My hair has a break too I haven't started losing it yet and I honestly hope this stall will avoid the fall. We'll see. Another thing I did is... relax. In the last 10 days I didn't stress over my non-weight loss. I was like "Whatever. At some point the scale will move again" and it did. I relaxed, kept going to the gym but no more often than before, I kept having my 2 days a week without carbs, I just went on with my life. I am really happy now because I feel good and my skin looks much better. I just wanted to share my experience, because it was a positive one even if it involved a stall!

I want to know, too! I'm in preop right now and am going crazy with that dumb scale. I swear it is broken! It has sat on the same number for like 6 days now! I check my weight every morning and well, like I said, I'm going nuts!

Well after a totally ****-tastic weight loss for May, I am finally on the move downward again. HOLLA! What did I change?? Journaling. I am journaling every little morsel that hits my lips. I didn't journal at all in May (and I knew I was snacking too much). I paid for it with a 4lb weightloss for the month. Two weigh-ins into June and I'm already down 8lbs. Have to face it...must be honest with myself on what I'm eating and it all works out.

WTH did I do to myself
LilMissDiva Irene replied to USMCwifeandTEACHER's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi there USMC Wife, What you are feeling right now is VERY common. Don't feel bad at all about your feelings. This was a HUGE operation... I'll tell you what, I think I had a little bit of that "WTH did I do to myself" feelings a lot for the first few days. It sucked!! I didn't know what was wrong with me because all the posts here were about how awesome everyone felt after surgery... like they could run a marathon or something... My experience wasn't as pleasant to say the least. I was in pain, the drain was miserable and when they pulled it out it was the grossest feeling ever, I had to have a catheter installed while awake, I vomited dried blood... I was a wreck!!! The first whole six weeks I felt like I was in a fog, tired - didn't want to do anything. I was quite possibly the laziest person on Earth during those weeks. Here's the difference though, that person and who I am today are two COMPLETELY different individuals. I am full of energy, I'm losing weight, I'm fitting sizes I haven't seen since being a teenager, I weigh lighter than I have in 20 years, I'm MUCH more outgoing than ever now, and I'm on top of the world!! I no way no longer second guess my decision to do this. It WAS DEFINITELY the best thing I have ever done for myself. You just have to give it some time. I know it's feeling like you will feel this way forever. I felt that way too! But you won't. Soon you will be writing posts like this to other new sleevers who are feeling like they made a epic fail. You didn't though... just trust in the program. -

continuing on to duodenal switch
RickM replied to tntransplant06's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That is the classic reason for two staging the DS. However, if one is getting the VSG alone, with the idea that if it fails it can (relatively) easily be revised into a DS, then what I posted applies - do it before you suffer any significant weight regain. The best results, in my doc's experience, is to do the DS in one stage, or if necessary for surgical risk reasons, a planned 2 stage procedure. Doing a later revision from something else, including the VSG, doesn't usually yield as good of a result, though certainly better than whatever failed the first time. -
Why do you we have to drink so much?
LilMissDiva Irene replied to Eyemallrt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Remember too that this Fluid rule applies to ALL fluids you're taking in, it's not just meaning Water alone. That said, keeping well hydrated preventatively is much better than getting to the point you are dehydrated. Once you get "thirsty" it's really meaning you are behind the curve. I'm never ever really "thirsty" because I'm pushing around 100-120 oz of water a day, rain or shine. Aside from other mentions on why we should drink more, I'd like to point out that drinking plenty of water or fluids helps with the weight loss too. It helps to avoid water retention, and if you are eating low carb, it will flush out your spent fat stores. All the best to you in your journey! -
Thanks checkyes! You are so right. Less weight and more reps I shall do!!

I think you are very lucky your body responds so well to weights. Can you afford to hire a personal trainer? Even if it's just for a couple weeks they could give you some help in toning muscle, but not bulking up. I would think if you lighten the weights you are using you will be happier with the results, but I am no proffesional in weight training. Hope this helps and best wishes.

Tattoos before and after
MINI-Me replied to FishingNurse's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My tatoots are on my lower back (aka "tramp stamp") and my foot. I've lost weight in both places - had NO idea that I had fat on my feet. Both look just as good. Not sure how the thigh would have looked though since I've lost A LOT there! -
decent weight loss?
Jess55 replied to Dreamalways07's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn't see it right away either. I had my surgery in December and I did a week pre op lost 9.8#, a week post op lost 9.2, so a total of 19#. A few days after I came back someone said to me I look like I lost weight. It felt weird. That person had no idea I had surgery (I mean any surgery). I didn't see it. Weird thing is when I started at my current job 1.5 years prior to that I weighed about, 285 or so, when I started my pre op diet I weighed 247 and no one had said anything previous about any weight loss. Maybe it's where you lose it idk. But 30# is a great accomplishment, be proud! -
I have noticed my period is much worse since I have had the sleeve surgery. Not sure if it is the estrogen released by the fat loss? Or it could be I always used to take motrin all the time (several times a day) because my knees hurt and now that I have lost some weight my knees are not hurting anymore? Anyway....I have noticed I can just take one tylenol (and I used to take at least two). Does a smaller stomach absorb it quicker or something???? I was told not to take ibuprophen but am going to ask at my 3 month apt. because I see others posting it is ok after it has healed.
