FEBRUARY SLEEVERS 2013....how you doing after you've been Sleeved
Lizzy0827 replied to DivaNurse's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
NSV for me today. My daughter had been at a camping trip over the weekend. When I went to pick her up, I was walking toward her from the car and she looked at me and said, "you're getting skinny mom!". I haven't heard those works ever : ) it was really nice. I was 221 pre-surgery. Day of surgery I was 200. I had surgery 2/25 and I am now 173.5. It feels really good. -
Ok so I haven't worn shorts since I was probably in grammar school and today for the 1st time in over 20 years I put shorts on and I didn't feel fat or gross.. Just a lil pasty white!!! Yay!!!

I had severe sleep apnea which they found during my sleep study. I needed a bipap machine and I did use it. I had it for after surgery which helped in recovery. That was 1/15 (my surgery) and since then I've lost 80lbs and was able to get off of it! Total NSV for me! -
I went off of my blood pressure meds this past week. I was shocked, because I'm only around 6 weeks out! I was feeling SO lethargic every day, so I called my doctor & the nurse told me that it could very well be the blood pressure meds. I checked my numbers, and sure enough.....it was low. She told me to stop taking the drug for a couple of days & see how I feel. Well, I feel much better! Granted, I was taking the lowest dose possible, but I'm still surprised that I could stop them after only a 17 pound loss. It feels great! Is this what they call a NSV? I also have a bad knee. I'm sure from too much weight over time. I've got other issues as well, and PRAY that some of it subsides as more weight comes off. I know that some won't resolve completely, but I have to imagine that it will be better without all the excess baggage My next plan of action is to start working with a physical therapist, who can put me on a program to strengthen what needs strengthening, to stretch what needs stretching; ALL without causing further damage to what's already injured and weak. OMG - I really messed myself up trying Curves about a year ago. That place is for people with ZERO skeletal/orthopedic issues!

Another big NSV today. I bought my third wardrobe since 1/31. I went from 52 inch jeans to 40 inch and 3XLT shirts to 1XLT. I'll probably be at 34 or 36 inch pants and LT shirts when I hit my goal. -
Yesterday I had to get an ultrasound and xray done of my abdomen. They gave me a hospital gown and told me change and wait in the waiting room. I looked at that gown and thought no way would it fit me! Well it did! And it covered me completely! There was a full length mirror in the bathroom and I looked so much smaller! I need to buy one for my home haha!

Going to Disney in July!!! So excited to be walking around and not feel worn out after a couple hours. I was so nervous about the Harry potter ride cause I have heard its a squeeze but yesterday I fit into a 14 in the dressing room. I was like what?!?!?! Watch out Harry potter I am probably going to ride u 100 times and scream hell yes every time the harness clicks! Some of my nsv have been furniture shopping at ikea and not being worried I was going to break the chairs, not feeling out of place when I go shopping with my skinny friends, and purchasing a pair of shorts for the first time in forever. I can't wait to run into an x or two in my small town!

saramichelle replied to shyanne's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yay! Get to report my first nsv! I've been wearing my size 18 jeans that I alwAys wear and they've been looking awful and falling off so I tried on a pair of size 14 jeans I had in my closet and thought there is no way but they fit! So so excited! Oh yeah and it's easier to put my shoes on! I don't breakout in a sweat when I do:) -
Great NSV!!!

After losing over 100 lbs, I've never been able to fit into anything from VS. You know what their secret is? It's that they don't carry a higher size than a 4. You'd think since I wear a 40D that I'd be able to find something, but the highest I've seen (in store, haven't checked online) is a 36. Even tho I lost all the way down to a size 8 on the bottom, I'm still a 40D on top. I look like a marshmallow being held up with 2 toothpicks! Congrats to you! Hopefully someday I'll have the same nsv! Marci

That's an amazing NSV!! -
It's been at least a decade since I have been able to wear a Victoria's Secret bra. This week I bought one in store and three online. I went from a 40G to a 36DDD. JUST BARELY fitting in the VS sizes but none the less I'm excited (they would be way to big if they hadn't shrunk a little along the way). Now lets hope they don't shrink too much more in the last leg of this journey

Okay, what did we used to call those "non pounds loss" happy things that happened to us? Was it NSV(non sleeve victory)? can't remember, but I've had SEVERAL today! We had a focus group meeting in my office of several Financial Advisors from around the state that I have worked with over the past many years but whom many have not seen me in a couple/several years. I had not one, not two but at least three of them single me out over the course of the 4 hour meeting and tell me how "wonderful" I looked and how much had I lost and how long, etc? FIRST, it made me realize - You know what? I HAVE accomplished a lot and I AM almost three years out! When I told one who asked when did you lose it, "Three years!" And it HIT ME! It's been three years!!! THREE YEARS!!! That made me feel really good! Just to have the affirmation again of a "job well done" and a huge accomplishment meant a great deal to me today. Not bragging, simply stating that perhaps we need to "lighten up" on ourselves some and see what others see. A real change in who we are and what we have accomplished. It surely opened my eyes today. And then... I went and ate 3, YES THREE, donuts. Oh well, its back to low carb.. )) We've got this, Pals!!!!!!

Had a possibly TMI NSV yesterday.. I am basically blind without my glasses, I need things to be within 6 inches or so to see clearly so shaving my legs has been pretty hit or miss (mostly miss) for many years.. Yesterday I was able to bend over and actually see what I was doing I was pretty proud. Other NSVs From size 4x tshirt to L, size 28 pants to a tight 16/loose 18. It's pretty amazing... I stole my oldest daughter's shirt the other day.. (don't tell her -
I didn't have quite as much to lose (I started at 325) but I was overwhelmed for sure. Even when I was down quite a bit I felt overwhelmed. Every time the scale stopped I was worried that was it. But I hung in there and ten months out from surgery I am down 125lbs, am down 6 pants sizes, and I feel (and look) like an entirely different person. It's scary and frustrating at times, but sooo worth it. I kept trying to tell myself that the next year would pass whether or not I got the surgery or followed the plan, and that I'd rather be on the track of looking back at how far I've come than wishing I had made the choice. Making a list of reasons I want to be at goal weight helped me. When I was stressed or when the scale didn't move I would pull it out to remind myself. And as you progress write down all your successes, even the smallest NSVs. It will get easier over time, I promise.

NSV - I just bought size 10 dressy shorts & capris at New York & Company. 5 months ago I was in an 18! The 10s were actually a touch loose too ! I'll tell you this surgery was the best thing I've ever done but man is it expensive clothes wise! My scale has been stagnant or even has gone up a couple pounds here or there in April so going down another size helped my psyche for sure. -

What a wonderful NSV! -
The only way I could fly on a plane.. was with a seat belt extender.. and some serious discomfort for the poor soul stuck next to me.. I stopped flying.. I drive everywhere... I mean.. everywhere.. so desperate not to get on a plane.. I drove from Dallas to New york and back.. and from Dallas to Cincinnati and back.. what on earth was I thinking!! 3.5 months post op.. I'm at a weight I was 5 years ago..and have voluntarily bought a plane ticket to NYC for this Memorial Day!! and hope to not need a seat belt extender.. and actually fit comfortably in the seat.. and not be a cause for frustration for the person sitting next to me.. ok.. it is not an NSV yet.. but "being eager" to get onto a plane.. and fly far far away.. has not happend in 4 years..
